  • How to allow simple file sharing on Windows Server 2008R2 through VPN

    We are a small, distributed company with a Windows Server 2008R2 installation. I would like to set up a way for our employees to connect securely to this server via VPN and then be able to map a network drive. I have gotten this to work somewhat by installing the Network Policy and Access Services Role on the server and using the default settings. I have also created a network share on the server. The problem is that our connectivity is sporadic (sometimes the service stops listening on the port or simply refuses to authorize correct credentials) and slow. I can always connect through VPN, but mapping is problematic. I would be grateful for the answer on how to accomplish this as well as some guidance on whether I am on the right track.     I need a script that can be run on freshly installed windows xp+ and download specified files from internet, like http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6.2/python-2.6.2.msi Is it any easy way to do it without hand-crafting HTTP/FTP requests or using third-party programs like wget? I can suggest that WScript.CreateObject("internetexplorer.application") will do the magic, but documentation on it is extremely huge and Google is silent, as always :).

Yousendit offers a service like what I am looking for, but it does not make sense to use their service if I already have a web server. Is there an open source version of Yousendit that I can run on my own web server? What is this type of software or service called? (calling it an FTP Server does not seem to fit)

    Hi, I need a webserver (lamp) running inside a virtual machine (#1) running as a service (#2) in headless mode (#3) with part or the whole filesystem encrypted (#4). The virtual machine will be started with no user intervention and provide access to a web application for users in the host machine. Points #1,#2 and #3 are checked and proved to be working fine with Sun VirtualBox, so my question is for #4: Can I encrypt the all filesystem and still access the webserver (using a browser) or will grub ask me for a password? If encrypting the all filesystem is not an option, can I encrypt only /home and /var/www ? will apache/php be able to use files in /home or /var/www without asking for a password or mounting these partitions manually?     Is there an application that can emulate a dvd player? I've converted a .mp4 video using allok video converter. And choose the output format to be xVid(.avi)<--that is exactly what is written on the application. I don't want to waste a blank dvd and try if it really can be played. So if you have tried this before please tell me if it works. And I have tried burning .avi files and it works because they are genuine avi files which I did not convert

    I am running Win7 in a Parallels Desktop 6 on Mac. On the mac, I use /etc/hosts : 127.0.0.1 mysite and it works fine : I can type mysite in the url and the website will display. What I want to do is be able to reproduce the same on Win7 with IE8 for example. Another guy did it successfully here but I can't : Parallels: How to see a Mac-hosted website from Windows? On Mac : ifconfig -a vnic0 10.211.55.2 on Win7 I tried this C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts 10.211.55.2 mysite What am I missing ?

    I would like to block all countries except mine in iptables, that is a lits with about 100.000 Entries. how can i define this blacklistfile in a script, so iptables blocks all those ip-ranges? maybe i can use http://www.ipdeny.com/ipblocks/data/countries/ that provides lists in the form 117.55.192.0/20 117.104.224.0/21 119.59.80.0/21 121.100.48.0/21 ... i want to be able to change the blacklistfile easily without having to change the iptables-script

    Hello, I have a web server running some PHP that checks for an image (curl -F 'imageName=@myimage') and it also checks the POST data for username=&password=. When the PHP checks _REQUEST I can just do: curl -F 'imageName=@myimage' 'http://www.example.com/?upload=1&username=test&password=test' I need to instead check _POST for username and password due to specs. How can I upload the image and have the username=&password= post data? Any help appreciated!

    I am using Opensuse 12.3 What I wanna do is, create a link on my desktop for some specific terminal commandos. The backround is, that I do some backup via rsync and don`t wanna type the commandos everytime new. I also dont wanna use a cronjob, since my computer isnt running everytime. Perfect would be some desktop icons, which on clicking execute the command(s). Could somebody tell me how to do this?

    I'm trying to create a dynamic quicklist for an application I'm developing in quickly. This is the line of code I use to try and connect to the .desktop file: self.launcher = Unity.LauncherEntry.get_for_desktop_id("my-app.desktop") For testing purposes, I've found that when using quickly run I should copy the .desktop file to ~/.local/share/applications. When I do this, the quicklist shows up correctly. However, when packaging my app using quickly package --extras, and installing this package, I get a launcher without quicklist. Does this have something to do with my app being installed in /opt? Meaning my desktop file is located somewhere else? Should I use another reference to the desktop file?

There are several rewrites we need, some will have multiple parameters but I cant even get this simple 1 parameter current url to alter at all to the desired.   • Textmate: Find and replace across project with contents of one file from said project

    I have a regular expression to find the text I want (I wrapped the relevant section in custom tags), and I can do it by hand without much issue, but what I want is a way to automatically find and replace throughout the entire project. A macro seems like an OK idea, but it would be nice to have a command (to edit and tweak). sed seems like a good bet, but I am pretty unfamiliar with it. I am not so much asking for a complete solution as I am asking for an example that does something close to what I want. I don't really know of a good way to start.

    I have a CGI script in the server called script.cgi and I have added the following code to the domain vhost: Action add-footer /cgi-bin/script.cgi AddHandler add-footer .htm .html I have change it to: Action add-footer /cgi-bin/script.cgi AddHandler add-footer .htm .html .php If the page is HTML the code will run but if the page is PHP the code will not run. Is there any code I need to add to the vhost so that PHP files can run this script? **EDITED:** I want to "inject" an HTML code in every possible page of the server this includes HTML and PHP files. The code only works for html files and I don't know why.

  • Weird Outlook Behavior; Creating its own file folder

    Outlook is doing a very strange thing. It has created a folder on its own (which, whenever I completely delete, comes back, with a different name). Mail that goes into this folder will not go to any other folder unless I forward it. If I move the email or create a rule to always move mail from particular senders to the Inbox, it moves for a while, but then goes back into the created folder. The first one was called "junk" but it was in addition to my normal junk email folder. When I forwarded all the messages (some were junk, but most were not) and totally deleted that folder, a new one, called "unwanted" appeared that acted the same way. It seems that once one email goes into this folder, then any email from that person also goes into the folder. I have discussed this with the tech person at work. There is no evidence of virus or any other identifiable reason for this to happen. We have searched the Internet and not found anything like this either.

  • win7-64 sp1: Rename folder (including zip file) error popup

    With the install of Windows 7 x64 Service Pack 1 (SP1) I get a windows explorer popup on any folder rename including .zip files. Could not find this item They are referring to the old name. What a bug. If I click "Try Again' the popup goes away, folder is renamed. Lots of posts on the net about this but no fixes. I tried a registry patch (that I shouldn't have) and it did nothing to fix. This started happening after the install of sp1.

    Hi , Why do we need to include both the .h and .cpp files , while we can make it works with making just a .cpp file and then including it . Case one : Creating a file.h containing declarations . Creating a file.cpp containing definitions . Including both on the main.cpp . Case two : Creating a file.cpp containing declaration/definitions ( no prototypes ) Including it on the main.cpp . Both worked for me , but still can't the difference since i do not have a background on the compiling and linking process .

    I tryied to set the JAVA_HOME environmet variable in the ~/.profile file and I made a mistake JAVA_HOME="/usr/lib/jvm/jdk1.6.0_37" PATH=$JAVA_HOME:PATH the error is in the PATH referencing. I put PATH rather than $PATH. this prevents me from login. I tried to edit the file using the recovery mode but it says that the file system is read only. so any suggestions how to deal with this issue. thanks

    I backup SQL Server database and it fails BACKUP DATABASE dd TO DISK = '\backupServer\backups\dd.bak' WITH COMPRESSION, CHECKSUM, NOFORMAT, INIT , BlockSize = 65536 , BufferCount = 2200 , MaxTransferSize = 4194304 The backup size is 3TB and I have 6TB free space on bacup server. I am using backup parameters per SQLCAT whitepaper. Everything works ok when I backup to local HDD and it always fails when I backup to network share. After about 6 hours. Can't find why. Thank you. Yes. The backup over the network is fastest and saves me 3Tb of local disk space :) Thanks for pointing to the memory issue. I left 4Gb to OS and it worked!

When I first booted I was given the option to store a key file to some Flash-drive (USB) or anything and there was a hint how to do it later. I wanted to do it later but now can't find where to find or how to generate the key file in any documentation. So whats the command, where's the file?   • How to search file for matching whole lines?

    I have a command which sends to stdout a series of numbers, each on a new line. I need to determine whether a particular number exists in the list. The match needs to be exact, not a subset. For example, a simple way to approach this that does not work would be to do: /run/command/outputing/numbers | grep -c <numberToSearch> My this gives a false positive on the following list when searching for '456': 1234567 98765 23 1771 If the count is non-zero, a match was found or if it was zero, the number is not in the list. The issue with this is that the numberToSearch could match a subsequence of numbers on a line, instead I only want hits on the whole line. I looked at the man page for grep and did not see any way to only match whole lines. Is there a way to do this, or would I be better off using awk or sed or some other tool instead? I need a binary answer as to whether the number being search for is present or not.
