  • photshop: why low quality jpg saved as high quality increases the file size?

    i have a low quality background about 85kb. If I open the file in Photoshop and save it, I have to save this image as 100% quality, the file size increases to 640kb. This doesn't make sense, the image si already compressed, the quality cannot be better than the source, so the 100% quality while saving should produce THE SAME FILE OPENED. The problem is, I have this background and want to add a logo image over it, and then save it. But If I do so, i have to save this with 10% quality, and the logo looks horrible. If I save this to 100% quality, the file size is huge... How can I achive this?

    Here is an example httpd config I'm currently using: <VirtualHost 123.123.123.123:80> ServerName mysite.com ServerAlias www.mysite.com DocumentRoot /home/folder </VirtualHost> I'm wondering, is it possible to have a wildcard for the ServerName & ServerAlias variable? Reason for asking is I have some software that is shared among multiple URL's all controlled in a CMS and it's kind of a pain to add new domains via ssh everytimee. And before someone points out a security hole, the software does check the current URL before doing any webpages :)

  • VM Build XML file fails to validate against OVF 1.0 schema

    For our product, we were trying to generate VM / vApp build XML from java code. For this purpose, we were using XML Beans. When we tried to generate JAVA classes for OVF envelope for 0.9 (ovf-envelope.xsd in schemas/ovf) it was successful. However these schemas does not allow us to add IPassignment section which is available in OVF 1.0. When we tried to compile 1.0 schema (ovfenv-vmware.xsd in schemas/ovf1.0.0e/vmware folder), we get validation errors. When we loaded this schema in schema editor we could see some validation errors. First error we saw was following: When we loaded ovfenv-vmware.xsd in XMLspy we could see following validation error in dsp8027.xsd - "cos-nonambig: makes the content model non-deterministic against . Possible causes: name equality, overlapping occurrence or substitution groups." Same error was also thrown by xmlbean while generating java classes from ovfenv-vmware.xsd. Is there any workaround for this problem?

  • How to convert a really big HTML file to PDF in Windows

    We have a few really large HTML files (60-100 MB) that we cannot convert to PDF with any reliability. Adobe Acrobat 9 crashes - hits the 2GB limit for applications. Open Office converts, but removes some of the anchors (). ActivePDF webgrabber crashes. Is using a 64 bit situation an option for this type of thing? I see a bunch of options out there, but can they do better than Adobe Acrobat 9 itself?

  • Windows 7 System File Checker (sfc) not working

    I have a strange problem with Windows 7 RTM. I'm running Ultimate 64-bit edition. Whenever I run sfc /scannow I get this error: Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service. My research so far has told me that I need to set the Windows Module Installer and Windows Installer services' startup types to Manual. They already were, so I manually started those services and tried again. No luck. I've even booted into my Windows 7 repair disc and tried running sfc /scannow from that. All I get is this: A repair operation is already pending. Restart and try again. History: I'm trying to run sfc because I am unable to open any images in Windows Photo Viewer. Whenever I try, I get the error "Class not registered." I believe the problem started after I installed Gladinet, but I can't be sure. I've uninstalled Gladinet, but the problem remains. System Restore was disabled (yes, I know I'm stupid - you don't have to remind me). Please help. Thanks.

  • Windows 7 connect to Lion file sharing

    Trying to access my Mac from a Windows 7 computer, I fail with the infamous error 86 incorrect password. Now this appears to be a well-known problem with countless threads on the internet giving as many "solutions" as there are discussion threads about it (mostly ranging from installing third-party commercial samba servers, to switching to some other protocol, to compiling a plain-vanilla Samba installation - the latter which I will probably do when I give up this :) ) I am stubborn, and I believe there must be some problem here that can be solved or worked around, but there is surprisingly little detail about this problem. It appears to have something to do with a mismatch of authentication methods.   • Make a SAMBA file system visible to all users with mount_smbfs

    We have a Macintosh OS10.6 server and a big storage system accessible via SMB. Right now we can mount partitions, but when we mount them they are only accessible to the user that did the mount. All other users get "Access Denied." It there any straightforward way to mount so that all users will be able to access the files? (We want all users mapped to a single SMB UID.)

  • Corrupted file, hard drive test?

    Hi guys, I'm currently on a macbook with a 1TB external hard drive connected trough a USB hub wich is connected on my macbook. The problem is, my disk, wich is partitioned in 2 (one HFS+ and one NTFS) keeps getting corrupted, recently it was my HFS+ partition, I could not repair it using the Apple's Disk utility, but was able to backup my files. Is it synonym that my hard drive is failing? Is it because of my USB hub? I also keep all my iTunes library on my external HD (HFS+ partition), and did a lot of transfer lately, adding files, removing etc. the last time, my partition got corrupted after a lot of deleted items. If anybody has an idea of what to check first, what could cause the problem, I would appreciate it :) Thanks!

Then, why do I have also these lines in the rsnapshot.conf ? ######################################### # BACKUP INTERVALS # # Must be unique and in ascending order # # i.e. hourly, daily, weekly, etc. # ######################################### interval hourly 6 interval daily 7 interval weekly 4 #interval monthly 3 If I use cron, should I disable them ? thanks ps. I've just realized that in the crontab I still have "hourly" and "daily". Should I then uncomment only the one I use in the crontab ?     our office wants to build a new server to handle our data, over the last 10 years our data was stored on CDs, DVDs, HDDs but now they want all of it in one place that is attached to the network for everybody in the office to access it. the data is 20TB new data and the rest is old, the important now is to store these 20tb and gradually store the other 30tb over time. so what is the best solution to do ? we thought of getting an hp server and connect it to an external enclosure that either had tape drives or HDDs (we haven;t decided yet) or to get a NAS server and connect it to the hp server. what should we do because this is new for us ...

  • Iptables ignoring a rule in the config file

    I see lot of established connections to my apache server from the ip 188.241.114.22 which eventually causes apache to hang . After I restart the service everything works fine. I tried adding a rule in iptables -A INPUT -s 188.241.114.22 -j DROP but despite that I keep seeing connections from that IP.   • How to rename a file inside a folder using a shell command?

    I have a file at some/long/path/to/file/myfiel.txt. I want to rename it to some/long/path/to/file/myfile.txt. Currently I do it by mv some/long/path/to/file/myfiel.txt some/long/path/to/file/myfile.txt , but typing the path twice isn't terribly effective (even with tab completion). How can I do this faster? (I think I can write a function to change the filename segment only, but that's plan B).

  • Can Windows XP remember file icon position?

    Windows allows you to arrange icons however you like in a window. However after some time when I go back to the window, it has forgotten the icon positions and has completely rearranged the icons. Is there a way to preserve the icon positions? In the previous version of Windows I used, this would happen on rare occasions (about 6 months) and it might only move a couple of icons. Now it is happening practically every day and it is every single icon. Attempts to rearrange them manually are futile and it is increasingly maddening. Searching Google, I have found a number of programs that allow you to save and restore icon position on the desktop. But, this is just a regular folder window so I am not sure if any of those would even work. Some details: Windows XP SP 3 running in Parallels 5 virtual machine Auto Arrange and Align to Grid are NOT turned on Fresh OS install and only setting icon positions in one window

  • Run a .bat file in a scheduled task without a window

    I have a scheduled task that starts a batch script that runs robocopy every hour. Every time it runs a window pops up on the desktop with robocopy's output, which I don't really want to see. I managed to make the window appear minimized by making the scheduled job run cmd /c start /min mybat.bat but that gives me a new command window every hour. I was surprised by this, given cmd /c "Carries out the command specified by string and then terminates" - I must have misunderstood the docs. Is there a way to run a batch script without it popping up a cmd window?

    As I understand it if I run the command gpasswd -A username directoryname I assign administrator privileges to username for the directory directoryname. This means that username is able to add new members to the group for directoryname without root privileges. Does this also mean that username belongs to the group or do I need to add username to the group using the commands usermod, gpasswd -a or gpasswd -M

    So I have several large text files I need to sort through, and remove all occurrences of lines which contain a given keyword. So basically, if I have these lines: This is not a test This is a test Maybe a test Definitely not a test And I run the script with 'not', I need to entirely delete lines 1 and 4. I've been trying with: PS C:\Users\Admin> (Get-Content "D:\Logs\co2.txt") | Foreach-Object {$_ -replace "3*Program*", ""} | Set-Content "D:\Logs\co2.txt" but it only replaces the 'Program' and not the entire line.
