Default User Id at Login different from User Name in Terminal Shell

During the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installation, I was prompted to enter a user name and password, so that a corresponding account could be created and set up for login. I replaced the one that was provided by default (i.e. '70319', which is the Windows 7 admin id) with a user name/id of my choosing. Now, when I turn on the computer, and choose to enter the Ubuntu operating system, the login id that is displayed is 70319 - that is, the one provided by Windows 7. However, when I open up a Unix/Terminal shell, the user id that is displayed at the prompt is the one I entered during installation. Otherwise, the installation of Ubuntu was a success! Is there some way of changing the user id that is displayed at the Login screen, so that it is consistent with the one I entered during installation? If it's any help, I installed Ubuntu using wubi on an ASUS Eee PC 1011PX running Windows 7, and ASUS Express Gate Cloud. I know about directories, rss, comments and guest blogging, but is there other more effective strategy to build some quality audience? As I see nowadays there aren't enough materials in my country about this. What about digg and reddit? Everytime I post some link there: no traffic comes to me. Future of a ServiceStack based Solution in the Context of Licensing

I just want someone to clarify the following questions as Demis Bellot had announced a couple of weeks ago that ServiceStack would go commercial. Refer link below. https://plus.google.com/app/basic/stream/z12tfvoackvnx1xzd04cfrirpvybu1nje54 (Please note that when I say ServiceStack or SS I refer to all associated SS libraries such as ServiceStack.Text, etc.) If I have a solution already developed using ServiceStack today will I have to purchase a license once SS goes commercial even if I don't upgrade the SS binaries to the commercial release version? Will previous versions of SS (prior to commercial licensing) always be opensource and use the same license as before? If I fork SS today (prior to commercial licensing) on Github, would it be illegal to maintain that after SS goes commercial? If the answer to question 2 is yes, then would I still be able to fork a previous version after SS goes commercial without worrying about the commercial license (all the while maintaining and releasing the source to the public)?

Should I be using WAI-ARIA in my HTML website builds?

Should I be using WAI-ARIA in my website builds? Will it have any benefit? Is anyone adding 'role' to their code at the moment? The tab, link, checkbox and slider roles, plus many more, aren't available yet for HTML5. From looking at the list of what is available (see below), and what will be coming in the future, it looks like we might be applying roles to a huge amount of tags on our pages. Its not an issue especially if it brings benefit to users using readers etc Also, a side question, will search engines give any benefits to sites using WAI-ARIA? FFMPEG compilation errors

First of all i am a newbie to Ubuntu Linux and have been trying to install and compile FFMPEG on an Ubuntu machine... I am trying to compile FFMPEG on an Ubuntu machine, using the following link reference: https://ffmpeg.org/trac/ffmpeg/wiki/UbuntuCompilationGuide I have already install git packages from resource centre whatever it results in search... Whatever i am trying to clone to is showing the below error... and please note that the network is wireless and connected with full bandwidth and i am able to browse through website and not sure why its showing an error as unable to connect and connection timed out.... root@ubuntu:~# cd root@ubuntu:~# git clone --depth 1 git://github.com/mstorsjo/fdk-aac.git Cloning into 'fdk-aac'... fatal: unable to connect to github.com: github.com[0: 207.97.227.239]: errno=Connection timed out Tried these commands as well to install x264 lib: cd git clone --depth 1 git://git.videolan.org/x264 cd x264 I am doing all this as a root user. Recover data from physically damaged harddrive. What are my options?

I was trying to replace the power supply in my desktop PC and ended up physically damaging the data connection from the hard drive to the motherboard. The plastic shelf for the copper prongs on the hard drive broke into the cable. Here is a picture of my handy work: I went to Best Buy Geek Squad to discuss my options and they said that they will need to send it to the recover center it could cost anywhere between $250 to $1600 USD to recover the data out the hard drive Is this reasonable for data recovery from a physically damaged hard drive? Are there any other options I can explore? I am going to talk to the data doctors to see what my options are. Update I took the HD to Data Doctors, and they told me that the SATA connection was broken to they would need to replaced the data connector and then copy the data to a brand new hard drive. So, with the initial analysis, cost of replacement parts, and data recovery fee it came out to $865.00 USD. The technician specifically stated if this was an older hard drive that would just need to replace the data connector. But because there is specific information related to the individual hard drive in the flash ROM, they need to transfer the data to a brand new hard drive.

Tangent basis calculation problem

I have the problem with seams with calculating a tangent basis in my application. I'm using a seems to be right algorithm, but it gives wrong result on the seams. What am I doing wrong? Is there a problem with an algorithm, or with the model? The designer says that our models with our normal maps are rendered correctly in Xoliul Shader Plugin in 3Ds Max, so there should be a way to calculate correct tangent basis programmatically. Here's an example of the problem I'm talking about. Steps, I've already taken: - Tried different algorithm (from Gamasutra, I can't post the link because I don't have enough reputation yet). I got wrong, much worse, results; - Tried to average basis vectors for vertexes are used in multiple faces; - Tried to average basis vectors for vertexes that have same world coordinates (this would be obviously wrong solution, but I've tried it anyway).

Cannot start Postgres daemon after installing with Yum

I was trying to install Postgres 9.1.4 on Fedora 17 using Yum. If I do: sudo yum install postgres-libs sudo yum install postgres sudo yum install postgis All the installs appear to complete successfully (i.e., no errors), but I cannot start the Postgres daemon using: service postgresql initdb Like the official Postgres download guide says to do (http://www.postgresql.org/download/linux/redhat/). The error says Unknown operation initdb. RPM tells me that it installed psql to /usr/bin/, which I confirmed. It turns out that only a few components installed correctly (psql, pg_dump, pg_configure, and a few others), but most are missing (e.g., pg_ctl and postgres). I've tried several different configurations and had several of my coworkers (with more linux experience than me) look at it, but so far nothing has worked. Two of them have also run into similar issues installing Postgres using apt-get on Ubuntu, which makes me think the rpm isn't doing its job. It seems the only solution to build it from source, which is more robust anyway, but of course it takes longer. I'm wondering, though, if anyone else has run into this issue and/or has successfully installed Postgres on either Fedora or Ubuntu using a package manager like yum or apt-get? Is the rpm broken?

Windows no longer boots on dual-boot system

While trying to delete an Ubuntu partition from my hdd I accidentally rebooted my computer. (Note: the partition was originally made from an existing partition using paragon.) After that when I tried to start the computer I got the GRUB rescue terminal prompt. I wasn't able to do much from that, but I did manage to boot Ubuntu from a USB drive and to run boot-repair. But now when I try to select Windows 7 from the boot selection menu I get the error 0xc0000225. Whats the best CMS for Sports Club? [closed]

Possible Duplicate: What Forum Software should I use? I have to renew a website for a sport club. There is some self programmed CMS in use at this time. But I need a new solution. A popular CMS that could be up to date over the next 3 or 4 years. I took a look at Drupal 7. Not sure about whether it's easy possible to create member profiles (they should be able to edit them self), a board and team overviews. Would be cool you'll share the link of a tutorial for this needs if you have one. Or... Any suggestions for a good CMS with my needs?

Do CDNs work with POST operations?

I'm using a CDN (Level3) for the first time and I'm a bit confused. I'm accessing dynamic URLs such as http://cdn.mysite.com?getItem=1234 that return text data. Do CDNs work with HTTP POST operations? When i issue a HTTP POST operation, my "real" server receives this request every time, so I'm wondering if the CDN has a problem with POST operations. If i use HTTP GET it seems to work, i call the URL once (from my application), i can see my server receiving the request. If i call it a second time, the CDN delivers it directly, my server doesn't get anything. However if i open same the link manually from a second browser tab, my server is asked to deliver again, shouldn't it be cached by now? Many thanks.

What's the best version control/QA workflow for a legacy system?

I am struggling to find a good balance with our development and testing process. We use Git right now, and I am convinced that ReinH's Git Workflow For Agile Teams is not just great for capital-A Agile, but for pretty much any team on DVCS. That's what I've tried to implement but it's just not catching. We have a large legacy system with a complex environment, hundreds of outstanding and undiscovered defects, and no real good way to set up a test environment with realistic data. It's also hard to release updates without disrupting users. Most of all, it's hard to do thorough QA with this process... and we need thorough testing with this legacy system. I feel like we can't really pull off anything as slick as the Git workflow outlined in the link. What's the way to do it?

Programmatically adding metatags to Masterpages in Web Forms and MVC [migrated]

Has anyone got any ideas on where we should be adding our SEO metadata in a Web Forms project? Why I ask is that currently I have two main Masterpages, one is the home page and the other one is every other page, they both have the same metadata that’s just a generic description and set of key words about my site. The problem with that is search engines are only picking up my home page and my own search engine displays the same title and description for all results. The other problem is the site is predominantly dynamic so if you type in a search for beach which is a major categories on the site you get 10000 results that all go to different information but all look like a link to the same page to the user. edit It's live here www.themorningtonpeninsula.com
