But when I try to load the form with already assigned values to the Countries[ ] it does not get selected.

  • MVC controller is being called twice

    Hello, I have a controller that is being called twice from an ActionLink call. My home page has a link, that when clicked calls the Index method on the Play controller. An id of 100 is passed into the method. I think this is what is causing the issue. More on this below. If I leave the parameter in place, then the Index method is called with 100 as the id. After returning the View, the method is called a second time with a parameter of null. I can’t seem to figure out what is triggering the second call. My first thought was to add a specific route like this: routes.MapRoute( "Play", // Route name "Play/{id}", // URL with parameters new {controller = "Play", action = "Index"} // Parameter defaults ); This had no effect other than making a prettier looking link.     I am trying to interpret the meaning of "mscorwks.dll!StrongNameErrorInfo+0x7688". I guess it means, that the assembly loaded by the mscorworks.dll has no StrongName? If yes, does this have any negative impact for a web application? Is it safe to assume that the thread count of 107 means, that web application has needed a maximum of 107 concurrent threads to handle incoming requests?

  • LINQ to Entities pulling back entire table

    In my application I'm pulling back a user's "feed". This contains all of that user's activities, events, friend requests from other users, etc. When I pull back the feed I'm calling various functions to filter the request along the way. var userFeed = GetFeed(db); // Query to pull back all data userFeed = FilterByUser(userFeed, user, db); // Filter for the user userFeed = SortFeed(userFeed, page, sortBy, typeName); // Sort it The data that is returned is exactly what I need, however when I look at a SQL Profile Trace I can see that the query that is getting this data does not filter it at the database level and instead is selecting ALL data in the table(s). This query does not execute until I iterate through the results on my view. All of these functions return an IEnumerable object. I was under the impression that LINQ would take all of my filters and form one query to pull back the data I want instead of pulling back all the data and then filtering it on the server. What am I doing wrong or what don't I understand about the way LINQ evaluates queries?

If I remove the POST restriction from the UpdateComments method in the controller, it works fine. What am I missing?

  • Webservice Connection Refused

    I have developed a web app using a webservice. Everything works fine in the development environment. I have moved the webservice to the production server in a test folder behind my main website. I can browse to the published service localy on the production server and i can access the remote service from my development machine. If I run my web app in my development environment I can use the remote webservice no problem. If I move the web application to the production environment the browser outputs this error when the application performs the ajax login method.   • Why is the UpdatePanel Response size changing on alternate requests?

    We are using UpdatePanel in a small portion of a large page and have noticed a performance problem where IE7 becomes CPU bound and the control within the UpdatePanel takes a long time (upwards of 30 seconds) to render. We also noticed that Firefox does not seem to suffer from these delays. We ran both Fiddler (for IE) and Firebug (for Firefox) and noticed that the real problem lied with the amount of data being returned in update panel responses. Within the UpdatePanel control there is a table that contains a number of ListBox controls. The real problem is that EVERY OTHER TIME the response (from making ListBox selections) alternates from 30K to 430K. Firefox handles the 400+K response in a reasonable amount of time. For whatever reason, IE7 goes CPU bound while it is presumably processing this data. So irrespective of whether or not we should be using an UpdatePanel or not, we'd like to figure out why every other async postback response is larger by a factor of more than 10 than the previous one. When the response is in the 30K range, IE updates the display within a second. On the alternate times, the response time is well over 10 times longer. Any idea why this alternating behavior should be happening with an UpdatePanel?

    I'm using linq to SQL and MVC2 with data annotations and I'm having some problems on validation of some types. The code in the controller: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Create(Projecten p) { if (ModelState.IsValid) { _db.Projectens.InsertOnSubmit(p); _db.SubmitChanges(); return RedirectToAction("Index"); } else { SelectList s = new SelectList(_db.Verbonds, "Verb_ID", "Verb_Naam"); ViewData["Verbonden"] = s; } return View(); } What I want is being able to run the Data Annotations before the Model binder, but that sounds pretty much impossible. What I really want is that my self-written error messages show up on the screen. I have the same problem with a DateTime, which i want the users to write in the specific form 'dd/MM/yyyy' and i have a regex for that. but again, by the time the data-annotations do their job, all i get is a DateTime Object, and not the original string. So if the input is not a date, the regex does not even run, cos the data annotations just get a null, cos the model binder couldn't make it to a DateTime. Does anyone have an idea how to make this work?

    Hi Guys, So i've got this little static method in a .Net class which takes a string, uses some stored public key and returns the encrypted version of that key. This is basically so some user entered data can be saved an encrypted, then retrieved and decrypted at a later date. Pretty basic stuff and the unit test works fine. However, part of the application is in classic ASP. This then uses some COM visible version of the class to go off and invoke the method on the real class and return the same string to the COM client (classic ASP). I use this kind of stuff all the time, but in this case we have a major problem. As the method is doing something with RSA keys and has to access certain machine information to do so, we get the error: "The requested operation requires delegation to be enabled on the machine. I've searched around a lot, but can't really understand what this means. I assume I am getting this error on the COM but not the UT because the UT runs as me (Administrator) and classic ASP as IWAM. Anyone know what I need to do to enable IWAM to do this? Or indeed if this is the real problem here?

    Table Product Product Id Product Name Table ProductSupplier ProductSupplierId ProductId SupplierId Table Supplier SupplierId SupplierName I have the above 3 tables in my database, ProductSupplier is the lookup table. Each Product can have many suppliers. I am using Entity Framework. Using Web Forms it was fairly easy to display a Product on a web page and bind a repeater with the suppliers information. Also, with Web Forms it was easy to Add new Product and suppliers, the linkage seemed easy. How do you do this sort of functionality in MVC? In the Create View below, I want to be able to Add the Supplier as well. Is there a better approach that I might be missing here? This is how I did it with Web Forms. Beyond the code below I am totally lost. I can show data in a list and also display the Suppliers for each Product, but how do I Add and Edit. Should I break it into different views?     My project namespace is MyProject.MVC So my controllers, which are segregated into Areas, are in this namespace: MyProject.MVC.Areas.AreaName But when I try to access a controller action in this namespace, I get a 404 error: http://MySite/AreaName/Action/View If I "remove" the MVC portion from the namespace on my controllers, everything works correctly. MyProject.Areas.AreaName Could I have things wired incorrectly or is this an issues with MVC2 Areas?

In this view, i need to have a button to show a dialog with client names (i also would like to implement filters and paging in this dialog).     I'm trying to avoid some potential security issues as I expose some a new set of functionality into the real world. This is basically functionality that will allow for a new comment to be added via a partialview on the "Parent" page. My comment needs to know a couple of things, first what record is the comment for and secondly who is making the comment. I really don't like using a hidden field to store the ID for the Parent record in the add comment form as that can be easily changed with some DOM mods. How should I handle this?     I'm using the automatic build versioning mentioned in this question (not the selected answer but the answer that uses the [assembly: AssemblyVersion("1.0.*")] technique). I'm doing this in the footer of my Site.Master file in MVC 2. My code for doing this is as follows: <div id="footer"> <a href="emailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</a> - Copyright © 2005-<%= DateTime.Today.Year.ToString() %>, foo LLC. All Rights Reserved. - Version: <%= Assembly.GetEntryAssembly().GetName().Version.ToString() %> </div> The exception I get is a Object reference not set to an instance of an object because GetEntryAssembly() returns NULL. My other options don't work either. GetCallingAssembly() always returns "4.0.0.0" and GetExecutingAssembly() always returns "0.0.0.0". When I go look at my DLLs, everything is versioning as I would expect. But I cannot figure out how to access it to display in my footer!!
