  Hi, I've got asmx with method [Webmethod] public Ssytem.IO.Stream GetStream(string path) { ... } and winforms application which has webreference to this webservice. I cannot do something on my winforms application like something: var myStream= (System.IO.Stream)client.GetStream(path); because i Cannot cast expression "MyWinformsApp.MyService.Stream" to Stream. Why is that ?

  While stumbling through the chromium code documentation, I came across this post: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/wiki/UsingGit#Windows If you are using msysgit, you are asking for trouble. Using both msysgit (including TortoiseGit) and cygwin's version of git is a path to lead to repository corruption so it's safer to stick with the cygwin's version. So if you still have msysgit in your PATH, you are on your own. Does this really happen? What causes the corruption?

  Hi, I had downloaded and installed the 1.6.9 version of SVN from http://subversion.tigris.org/. After the installation I noticed that if I launch the command "svn" from the terminal, my Mac still uses the old version, the 1.4.4. If i want to use the new version, I need to specify its path, like this: - /opt/subversion/bin/svn commit instead of: - svn commit There is a way to solve this problem and use the new version of the command without typing the entire path?   take this linq into consideration: list.Where(sil => sil.XML.Element("ticket") != null && sil.XML.Element("ticket").Attribute("id").Value == smsRequestIn.TicketID) if the "ticket" element is not null it searches for it twice and hence is not very effective. Is there a way to use some sort of variables within the linq expression so I can reference the variable instead of doing a double search for the "ticket" element or is linq intelligent enough to not do a double search?

  Is it possible somehow using mod_rewrite change the url from http://www.mywebsite.com/company/123/reviews to http://www.mywebsite.com/company-123/reivews? It's not a redirect. The problem is that the real path is the first one and I need my browser to display the second path. So when the user goes to company-123/reviews the content of the page is displayed from company/123/reviews. Thank you.

  I have installed xfig on my computer(MacOSX) but in order to complete the instalation I need a make install inside the source directory of xfig. I used the command whereis xfig in order to find the path of the source of xfig (as I cannot find it otherwise) but when I type this command I get no answer as i.e: hcp249:~ madalinahodorog$ whereis xfig hcp249:~ madalinahodorog$ why dont I get some answer? how can I find the path to the source of xfig? thank you in advance, madalina

• rewritten mysql query returning unexpected results, trying to figure out why

  I created a messy query in a hurry a while ago to get a list of product codes. I am now trying to clean up my tables and my code. I recently tried to rewrite the query in order for it to be easier to use and understand. The original query works great, but it requires multiple search strings in order to do one search because it uses UNIONS, and it has a few other issues. My newly modified query is easier to understand, and only requires one search string, but is returning different results. Basically the new query is leaving records out, and I would like to understand why, and how to fix it. The script is meant to clean up permissions that were needed during the execution of the application. find /opt/path -exec setacl -d user:myUser{} ';' After this executes and the acl is removed I am left with an acl that looks as follows user:101:--- /opt/path How can I properly call setacl to remove the user without leaving behind a uid?

• Inno setup, How do I check for an app and set install directory based on it?

I want the setup script to look to see if the app is installed by checking for it's register key and getting its installed directory and set the install path that is shown to this path.   Hi, In Xaml I can set a custom attached property using local:TestClass.TestProperty="1" An I can bind to a custom attached property using {Binding Path=(Namespace:[OwnerType].[PropertyName])} {Binding Path=(local:TestClass.TestProperty)} But how do I specify the namespace when I need to use a custom attached property in a SortDescription? • Using static vs. member find method on a STL set?

  I am using a set because, i want to use the quick look up property of a sorted container such as a set. I am wondering if I have to use the find member method to get the benefit of a sorted container, or can I also use the static find method in the STL algorithms? My hunch is that using the static version will use a linear search instead of a binary search like I want.
