  • Building a NSPredicate for a filter

    Hi, Just wondering what the best way to build a NSPredicate is if some filters are optional? This is basically for a filter, so if some options aren't selected I don't to filter by them eg. If I have option1 and option2 set for the filter. NSPredicate* predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"option1 = %@ AND option2 = %@] .... otherwise if just option1 NSPredicate* predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"option1 = %@] .... The key being there are 10 different options to filter, so I don't want to have to code for the 10x10 possible combinations. Thanks

  • Creating DOM elements on the fly - check if the data is not harmful

    I already posted a question closely related to the this one. I watched the Mix10 video with P. Haacked and S. Hanselman. I am building an AJAX-powered site whose input forms are created on the fly. All the code to accomplish this is done within a script tag or a javascript file. For example the following DOM elements are created when the page loads and are wrapped into an existing div defined in a view: $('#myform').append('); $('#myform').append(''); When I click the submit button I need to get the values of the input form whose id is 'Name': $("#Name").val() and then I return a Json object: { Name: name }; For this kind of scenario there is no way to use Html.Encode() or AntiXss.HtmlEncode() on the client-side. The only way to check if the input is not harmful is done on the server-side (via a service layer). This seems a limitation. All is fine if and only if a view has a set of predefined inputs.   • Problem processing large data using Applet-Servlet communication

    Hi everyone. I have an Applet that makes a request to a Servlet. On the servlet it's using the PrintWriter to write the response back to Applet: out.println("Field1|Field2|Field3|Field4|Field5......|Field10"); There are about 15000 records, so the out.println() gets executed about 15000 times. Problem is that when the Applet gets the response from Servlet it takes about 15 minutes to process the records. I placed System.out.println's and processing is paused at around 5000, then after 15 minutes it continues processing and then its done. Has anyone faced a similar problem? The servlet takes about 2 seconds to execute. So seems that the browser/Applet is too slow to process the records. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

    I have a class which contains sensitive information (Credit card info, phone numbers etc). I want to be able to pass this class to log4j, but have it obscure certain information. If I have a class UserInformation which has getPhoneNumber, getCreditCardNumber methods, how would I customise log4j or this class so that it will obscure the numbers correctly. I want the credit card number to be output as xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-1234 and the phone number to be output as xxxx-xxx-xxx given that these would be 1234-1234-1234-1234 and 1234-567-890 Thanks

    Consider a grocery store scenario (I'm making this up) where you have FACT records that represent a sale transaction, where the columns of the Fact table include SaleItemFact Table ------------------ CustomerID ProductID Price DistributorID DateOfSale Etc Etc Etc Even if there are duplicates in the table when you consider ALL the keys, I would contend that a surrogate running numeric key (i.e. identity column) should be made up, e.g., TransactionNumber of type Integer. I can see someone arguing that a Fact table might not have a unique key (though I'd invent one and waste the 4 bytes, but how about a dimension table?

  • Getting user data from Active Directory using PL/SQL

    I had a discussion today regarding an Oracle procedure I wrote some time ago. I wanted to get 7500 user email addresses from Active Directory using PL/SQL. AD will return a maximum of 1000 rows and the LDAP provider used by Oracle will not support paging. Therefore, my solution was to filter on the last two characters of the sAMAccountName (*00,*01,*02...etc.). This results in 126 queries (100 for account names ending in digits, 26 for those ending in a letter...this was sufficient for my AD setup). The person I was speaking to (it was a job interview by the way) said he could have done it a better way, but he would not tell me what that method was. Could anybody hazard a guess at what this method was?

    Basically I have dataframe with two columns (target_id and fpkm). I want to keep only those row names in first column that are not duplicated.     I'm posting a form with javascript and it seems to be changing a value that I've entered in. I see this in fiddler. If get rid of the javascript and click the button above, it goes through how it should. Why is JQuery changing my text?

Original I had myJson = db.StringProperty() it complained the json i had was to long and StringProperty had a limit of around 500 chars. Sugesting to use TextProperty instead.   • DataTriggered animation is triggered only in the first time

    I just wanted to create very simple example of DataTriggers and animation. Two checkboxes and Rectangle. Checking the first cb makes the rectangle fade away. (CodeBehind var is true) Checking the second cb makes the rectangle come back. (var is false) App is loading - the rectangle is showing (true) Firs cb is checked by default. I'm checking second cb - rect is dissapearing. It's OK. But when I then check the first cb rect isn't showing up. Questions about his ideas why to waste resources to transform constantly-modified lists to table? Fast? only point where I to some extent agree but cannot understand the same upper limits n for each for-loops -- perhaps he supposed it circular why does the code take O(mlog(n)) to proceed in time as finite structure? The term finite may be wrong, explicit?

    I had a look at question already which talk about algorithm to find loop in a linked list. I have read Floyd's cycle-finding algorithm solution, mentioned at lot of places that we have to take two pointers. One pointer( slower/tortoise ) is increased by one and other pointer( faster/hare ) is increased by 2. When they are equal we find the loop and if faster pointer reaches null there is no loop in the linked list. Now my question is why we increase faster pointer by 2. Why not something else? Increasing by 2 is necessary or we can increase it by X to get the result. Is it necessary that we will find a loop if we increment faster pointer by 2 or there can be the case where we need to increment by 3 or 5 or x.

    I have an entity called 'Job' with two boolean attributes named 'completed' and 'logged'. I am trying to retrieve all completed jobs that have not been logged at app start-up and change them to logged. I'm able to get all the completed but unlogged jobs with this fetchRequest: NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"(completed == %@ && logged == %@)", [NSNumber numberWithBool:YES], [NSNumber numberWithBool:NO]]; I'm then assigning this predicate to a fetchRequest and calling the [managedObjectContext executeFetchRequest:fetchRequest] method to get an array of all Job entities that meet this criteria. This seems to work fine and is returning the correct number of jobs. What I've been trying to do is loop through the NSArray returned, set the logged attribute to YES and then save. This seems to complete and doesn't return any errors but the changes are not persisted when the application quits. Where am I going wrong?
