  • Is there a module that implements an efficient array type in Erlang?

    I have been looking for an array type with the following characteristics in Erlang. append(vector(), term()) O(1) nth(Idx, vector()) O(1) set(Idx, vector(), term()) O(1) insert(Idx, vector(), term()) O(N) remove(Idx, vector()) O(N) I normally use a tuple for this purpose, but the performance characteristics are not what I would want for large N. My testing shows the following performance characteristics... erlang:append_element/2 O(N). erlang:setelement/3 O(N). I have started on a module based on the clojure.lang.PersistentVector implementation, but if it's already been done I won't reinvent the wheel.

    The longest common substring problem according to wiki can be solved using a suffix tree. From wiki: The longest common substrings of a set of strings can be found by building a generalised suffix tree for the strings, and then finding the deepest internal nodes which have leaf nodes from all the strings in the subtree below it I don't get this. Example: if I have: ABCDE and XABCZ then the suffix tree is (some branches from XABCZ omitted due to space): The longest common substring is ABC but it is not I can not see how the description of wiki helps here. ABC is not the deepest internal nodes with leaf nodes. Any help to understand how this works?

    I seem to be having a problem with retrieving XML values with C#, which I know it is due to my very limited knowledge of C# and .XML. I was given the following XML file <PowerBuilderRunTimes> <PowerBuilderRunTime> <Version>12</Version> <Files> <File>EasySoap110.dll</File> <File>exPat110.dll</File> <File>pbacc110.dll</File> </File> </PowerBuilderRunTime> </PowerBuilderRunTimes> I am to process the XML file and make sure that each of the files in the exist in the folder (that's the easy part). It's the processing of the XML file that I have having a hard time with. Here is what I have done thus far: var runtimeXml = File.ReadAllText(string.Format("{0}\\{1}", configPath, Resource.PBRuntimes)); var doc = XDocument.Parse(runtimeXml); var topElement = doc.Element("PowerBuilderRunTimes"); var elements = topElement.Elements("PowerBuilderRunTime"); foreach (XElement section in elements) { //pbVersion is grabbed earlier. Then I only want those imports with the "Application" "CheckFolderApplication" metadata. To currenly do that I read all the imports and then filter the result. What if I have thousands of plug-ins - do I have to read them all via MEF to just get one with the right metadata? If so how do you cache the result?

    Hi, I am writing an Android app, part of which will be a survey involving multiple pages of checkbox question and answers. I have created an activity to display the question and options (from the DB) and what I want to do now is when i press the "Next" button it should just reload the current activity with the next question set from the database. (the activity starts with survey.getNextQuestion() - so its just a case of refreshing the activity so it updates) Im sure this is a simple thing to do -any ideas? Thanks

    In Algorithm Design Manual, there is such an excise 4-26 Consider the problem of sorting a sequence of n 0’s and 1’s using comparisons. For each comparison of two values x and y, the algorithm learns which of x < y, x = y, or x y holds. (a) Give an algorithm to sort in n - 1 comparisons in the worst case. Show that your algorithm is optimal. (b) Give an algorithm to sort in 2n/3 comparisons in the average case (assuming each of the n inputs is 0 or 1 with equal probability). Show that your algorithm is optimal. For (a), I think it is fairly easy. I can choose a[n-1] as pivot, then do something like in quicksort partition, scan 0 to n - 2, find the middle point where left side is all 0 and right side is all 1, this take n - 1 comparisons. But for (b), I can't get a clue. It says "each of the n inputs is 0 or 1 with equal probability", so I guess I can assume the numbers of 0 and 1 equal? But how can I get a result which is related to 1/3? divide the whole array into 3 groups? Thanks

    can anyone recommend a method for low latency bi-directional com link between my pc app and android slave app. the app i have works now via wifi but the latency is too slow (about 300mS), i'm looking to get it down to 10mS or so. the android is acting like a glorified remote control to the game on the pc. the apk displays a low res image and sends button presses back to the game and the round trip need to be quick i'm thinking the only option beside the network, is to connect a usb cable but i don't see a lot of support for that path and not even sure it would be lower latency than wifi any ideas please?

  • My database has been deleted suddenly on the server how to recover it?

Today, when I opened SQL Server Management Studio, I was surprised the database is not in the list of the databases! I don't know what's the reason. I searched in the server files but I can't find the database and also in the recycle bin. I put my database in C:\db\myWeb.mdf and suddenly it's been removed! Can anyone tell me how to recover the database?

    hello, i get this error when i retrieve an XML that only has 1 node (no repeating nodes) and i try to store in an ArrayCollection. -When I have MORE than 1 "name" nodes...i do NOT get an error. My test show that XMLListCollection does NOT work either. TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert "XXXXXX" to mx.collections.ArrayCollection. this error occurs as the line of code: myList= e.result.list.name; Why can't ArrayCollection work with a single node? I'm using this ArrayCollection as a dataprovider for a Component -is there an alternative I can use that will take BOTH single and repeating nodes as well as work as a dataprovider?
