• why does Integrated Windows Authentication fail when clients access off the network

  My background is not with web applications so this problem is hard for me to explain easily. First I'll try to describe the setup. Client setup:-Only browser that is effected is IE 6-8 (Firefox, chrome, opera, and safari all work fine) -A user will try to access our web application from a company laptop that is not connected to our network. -This machine will be a member of our workgroup and have the company DNS listed as a trusted intranet site. (to which the application in question would be a member) -The security logon mode is set to Automatic Logon only in intranet zone only, and IWA authentication is enabled on the clients browser.Server setup:-Windows server 2003 fp2-The application will first redirect to an Authorization asp page which has anonymous access disabled and IWA enabled in IIS.what should happen is that, since the client is not currently on the network, when this page is called it should prompt the user for network credentials. But with IE, instead of prompting, the user gets a page cannot be displayed error because the IIS manager is denying access to the asp page. If the company DNS is removed from the trusted intranet site list then it prompts correctly but disables single sign on the next time that computer is connected to the network or vpn. My assumption is that since IE uses IWA and the site is listed as an internal site, when no network is found IE just sends nulls to the server attempting to authenticate which is swiftly punted back. Other browsers do not have security zones so when network credentials are not present the server prompts for them. Is there a way to get around this so that our clients can keep the company DNS in the intranet zone but still have the server prompt for credentials when not on the network? Any attempt to allow for anonymous access on the asp page, as far as I know, will cause AUTH_USER to return null and again break SSO. I realize this is slightly rambling so I will do my best to clarify and questions you guys might have. Thanks in advance.

• How to control Dojo FilteringSelect default rendering!?

  Hi, I have a dojo dijit.filering.select that populates with values from a dojo.data.ItemFileReadStore. Everything is working fine except I would like the filtering select to automatically get populated with the first value in the itemFileReadStore. Currently it is loading them as a list of options that are revealed when you click the down arrow, as per spec. I would instead like filteringSelect to be loaded with the first value. How do I do this? For some reason I cant figure it out. Any help would be hugely appreciated!   Trying to hook into the function comment_text() supplied by Wordpress API to wrap the output of every comment into a <div>...</div> container I am running into the following problem: Without my added filter the output of comment_text() looks like this: <p>Hello User!</p> <p>Thank you for your comment.</p> <p>Stefan</p> Thats fine but as I said I would like to have it wrapped into a <div class="comment-text">...</div>. • Comparing objects with IDispatch to get main frame only (BHO)

  I don't know if anyone familiar with BHO (Browser Helper Object), but an expert in c++ can help me too. In my BHO I want to run the OnDocumentComplete() function only on the main frame - the first container and not all the Iframes inside the current page. (an alternative is to put some code only when this is the main frame). I can't find how to track when is it the main frame that being populated. After searching in google I found out that each frame has "IDispatch* pDisp", and I have to compare it with a pointer to the first one. • Playing online video on iphone web, the iphone seems to cache the reference movie

  We are working on an online mobile video app, and are trying to play a reference movie on an iphone from the iphone browser. The problem is, the movie plays the first time, but when we try to play a different movie the second time, it doesnt. Quicktime gives a general error message sayin "Cannot Play Movie". More precisely this is what we are trying to do: Connect with an iPhone to a webserver that serves a reference movie (generated with quicktime pro). The ref movie automatically gets downloaded to the iphone by quicktime. Quicktime then chooses one of the 3 references in the reference movie, based on the connection speed, and tries to download the designated movie via a relative path. A servlet gets called and forwards the relative path to the right movie. This all works the first time. However the second time when we want download different movies, we get the quicktime error. Test case: Open reference movie 1 Movie plays in Quicktime Open reference movie 2 ERROR: Quicktime gives an error - Cannot Play Movie Shut down Iphone Turn Iphone on again Open reference movie 2 Iphone plays movie Open movie ERROR: Quicktime gives an error - Cannot Play Movie Did anyone encounter similar issues with quicktime and the use of reference movies and is there something we can do to work around that?

• ASP.NET Session State Timeout Problem

  I am trying to detect a session state timeout in my asp.net application and am unable to do so. Also, all these pages have EnableSessionState="True". I have a blank Session_Start() method in my global.asax file if that is relevant at all. For some reason after the first request, the "Session.IsNewSession" property is always false. It is true only for the first request and then is always false. I have my timeout set to 1 minute. The session never seems to timeout. What am I missing here ? Thanks in advance.

• How to explain to users the advantages of dumb primary key?

  Primary key attractiveness I have a boss(and also users) that wants primary key to be sophisticated/smart/attractive control number(sort of like Social Security number, or credit card number format) I just padded the primary key(in Views) with zeroes to appease their desire to make the control number sophisticated,smart and attractive. But they wanted it as: first 2 digits as client code, then 4 digits as year year, then last 4 digits as transaction number on that client on a given year, then reset the transaction number of client to 1 when next year flows. Each client's transaction starts with 1. e.g. WM20090001, WM20090002, BB2009001, WM20100001, BB20100001 But as I wanted to make things as simple as possible, I forgo embedding their suggested smartness in primary key, I just keep the primary key auto increments regardless of client and year. But to make it not dull-looking(they really are adamant to make the primary key as smart control number), I made the primary key appears to them smart, on view query, I put the client code and four digit year code on front of the eight-zero padded autoincrement key, i.e. WM200900000001. Sort of slug-like information on autoincremented primary key. Keeping primary key autoincrement regardless of any other information, we are able keep other potential side effects problem when they edit a record, for example, if they made a mistake of entering the transaction on WM, then they edit the client code to BB, if we use smart primary key, the primary keys of WM customer will have gaps in their control number. Or worse yet, instead of letting the control numbers have gaps/holes, the user will request that subsequent records of that gap should shift up to that gap and have their subsequent primary keys re-adjust(decremented). How do you deal with these user requests(reasonable or otherwise)? Do you yield to their request? Or just continue using dumb primary key and explain them the repercussions of having a very smart/sophisticated primary key and educate them the significant advantages of having a dumb primary key?   Hi everybody, I'm currently reading the Mathematica Guidebooks for Programming and I was trying to work out one of the very first program of the book. Basically, when I run the following program: Plot3D[{Re[Exp[1/(x + I y)]]}, {x, -0.02, 0.022}, {y, -0.04, 0.042}, PlotRange -> {-1, 8}, PlotPoints -> 120, Mesh -> False, ColorFunction -> Function[{x1, x2, x3}, Hue[Arg[Exp[1/(x1 + I x2)]]]]] either I get a 1/0 error and e^\infinity error or, if I lower the PlotPoints options to, say, 60, an overflow error. I have a working output though, but it's not what it's supposed to be. The hue seems to be diffusing off the left corner whereas it should be diffusing of the origin (as can be seen on the original output) Here is the original program which apparently runs on Mathematica 5 (Trott, Mathematica Guidebook for Programming): Off[Plot3D::gval]; Plot3D[{Re[Exp[1/(x + I y)]], Hue[Arg[Exp[1/(x + I y)]]]}, {x, -0.02, 0.022}, {y, -0.04, 0.042}, PlotRange -> {-1, 8}, PlotPoints -> 120, Mesh -> False] Off[Plot3D::gval]; However, ColorFunction used this way (first Plot3D argument) doesn't work and so I tried to simply adapt to its new way of using it. • WPF Background Thread Invocation

  Maybe I'm mis-remembering how Winforms works or I'm overcomplicating the hell out of this, but here's my problem. I have a WPF client app application that talks to a server over WCF. The current user may "log out" of the WPF client, which closes all open screens, leaves only the navigation pane, and minimizes the program window. When the user re-maximizes the program window, they are prompted to log in. Simple. But sometimes things happen on background threads - like every 5 minutes the client tries to make a WCF calls that refreshes some cached data. And what if the user is logged out when this 5 minute timer triggers? Well, then the user should be prompted to log back in...and this must of course happen on the UI thread. private static ISecurityContext securityContext; public static ISecurityContext SecurityContext { get { if (securityContext == null) { // Login method shows a window and prompts the user to log in Application.Current.Dispatcher.Invoke((Action)Login); } return securityContext; } } So far so good, right? But what happens when multiple threads hit this spot of code? Well, my first intuition was that since I'm syncrhonizing across the Application.Current.Dispatcher, I should be fine, and whichever thread hit first would be responsible for showing the login form and getting the user logged in... Not the case... Thread 1 will hit the code and call ShowDialog on the login form Thread 2 will also hit the code and will call Login as soon as Thread 1 has called ShowDialog, since calling ShowDialog unblocked Thread 1 (I believe because of the way the WPF message pump works) All I want is a synchronized way of getting the user logged back into the application...what am I missing here?   When a console application is started from another console application, how does console ownership work? I see four possibilities: The second application inherits the console from the first application for its lifetime, with the console returning to the original owner on exit. Each application has its own console. Windows then somehow merges the content of the two into what the "console" visible to the user The second application get a handle to the console that belongs to the first application. The console is placed into shared memory and both applications have equal "ownership" It's quite possible that I missed something and none of these four options adequately describe what Windows does with its consoles. If the answer is close to option 4. My follow-up question is which of the two processes is responsible for managing the window? (Handling graphical updates when the screen needs to be refreshed / redrawn, etc) A concrete example: Run CMD. Then, using CMD, run [console application]. The [console application] will write to what appears to be the same console window that CMD was using.

• Advice using leaks in instruments for noobs

  Hello I am pretty new to iphone development. I have run my app for the first time using the "Leaks" from "Instruments". It shows me several leaks around 20 the smallest is 32 bytes and there is one with 1KB. I have followed the memory management guidelines, (i (think i) understand how and when to use release, not to use it when adding to autorelease pools, for every copy, retain, init there should be a release,... etc). I don't think I understand the output of the Leaks in instruments. What does "Responsible library" and "Responsible frame" mean. Because there are some classes and methods i never used directly. Are there any good tutorials for debugging memory leaks in instruments or other advice you can give me regarding leaks. Thanks in advance. Here are the largest 2 leaks. • How to write an iphone application to control a device that exposes a telnet api

  Hi! I have to write an iphone application that controls a device. This device exposes a telnet based interface. The application should ideally have user access control and customizability for each user. I was thinking of writing C++ classes that would communicate with the device using sockets. This functionality can then be exposed through web-services that can be called by the iphone application. However as i looked into it deeper, the api allows you to register for events using telnet and then you can receive notification when those events occur. That kinda put a spanner in the works for me. I for one dont know a "push" scenario can work with webservices. First off i have never programmed for the iphone so far. So i am not really sure what can be done. So i was thinking if instead of having a webserver to go through, why not have the application independently running on the iphone, directly communicating with the device using sockets. The question though is, is that possible and second i am thinking it would raise a security aspect. First we could control security as everything was going through our central server. Is there a way to handle security (in the sense who has access to the device) without having a central server. I am sorry that this seems like an unorganized post, but iam trying to brainstorm here.   Hi, i added a Tab bar to my existing view called secondViewController where there are now 4 tab bar items using interface builder. This tab bar will allow the users to switch between views. This is what ive tried to do: If i use a tabbar controller, then a new view pops up and i dont want that. i simply want to be able to add a tab bar as ive done and carry on from there. i dont know how to actually connect it all up and make everything work together. This is what i understand: i have to make my current - secondViewController an tabbardelegate which is what ive done as shown @interface paddedDholViewController : UIViewController <AVAudioPlayerDelegate, UITabBarDelegate> { } then i understand that i have to add tabBar.delegate = self; for me to be able to detect the tabBar:didSelectItem: so i can then implement something like this - (void)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController { if ([viewController.tabBarItem.title isEqualToString:@"FIRST"]) { NSLog(@"FIRST"); } else if ([viewController.tabBarItem.title isEqualToString:@"SECOND"]) { NSLog(@"SECOND"); } } to be able to switch between the views The thing is as ive said before i dont know how to implement all of this and how to connect everything up. can someone help me please. • help with grouping and sorting for TreeView in xaml

  I am having problems getting my head around grouping and sorting in xaml and hope someone can get me straightened out! I have creaed an xml file from a tree of files and folders (just like windows explorer) that can be serveral levels deep. I have bound a TreeView control to an xml datasource and it works great! It sorts everything alphabetically but ... • Multithreaded search with UISearchDisplayController

  I'm sort of new to any sort of multithreading and simply can't seem to get a simple search method working on a background thread properly. Everything seems to be in order with an NSAutoreleasePool and the UI being updated on the main thread. The app doesn't crash and does perform a search in the background but the search results yield the several of the same items several times depending on how fast I type it in. The search works properly without the multithreading (which is commented out), but is very slow because of the large amounts of data I am working with. • Xpath that evaluates -all- attributes?

  I maybe be trying to do something invalid here, but maybe someone smarter than me knows the correct syntax to solve my problem. Given: <group code="vehicle"> <line code="car"> <cell> <box code="price">1000.00</box> </cell> </line> <line code="car"> <cell code="sports"> <box code="price">500.00</box> </cell> </line> </group> If I use //*[@code="vehicle"]//*[@code="car"]//*[@code="price"], I will get both boxes returned (1000.00 and 500.00)--as expected but not what I want. Is there an xpath syntax that will evaluate against all nodes that have an attribute of @code rather than skipping it if it doesn't match with the end result being that I only get back the first box (price of 1000.00)? Like asking, choose the first node with @code and that @code must equal "vehicle", then choose the next node with @code and that @code must equal "car", then choose the next node with @code and @code must equal "price".

The number of columns is between 1 & 6, so I cant limit it that way. I was able to get a script that allows me to put each individual on one row. However, I am having a hard time getting the first column to copy over to each row. • Computed width with decimal values in Firefox, but without decimals in Webkit

  Hello one more time! I have a strange problem working with HTML,CSS in different browsers: Firefox 3.6 and Webkit browsers (Chrome & Safari). My HTML looks like this: <div class="ln-letters"> <a href="#" class="all">ALL</a> <a href="#" class="a">A</a> <a href="#" class="b">B</a> <a href="#" class="c">C</a> </div> And my CSS is... .ln-letters a { font-family: 'Lucida Grande'; font-size:14px; display:block; float:left; padding:0px 7px; border-left:1px solid silver; border-right:none; text-decoration:none; } So as you can guess, each anchor gets a different width depending on its inner text. For example the first element with the text 'ALL' will be bigger (more width) than the others. Now the problem is that in Firefox (using Firebug) I can see that the computed width for the first element is 26.5667px, while in Chrome (using Chrome's developer tools) the computed width for the same element is exactly 27px. Therefore the div.ln-letters ends with different widths in each browser and that is causing me some troubles. Question is: there is any workaround to avoid Firefox computing decimal values? Or the opposite: to force Chrome to compute decimal values? Thank you in advance!

• Displaying single-instance business object data on SSRS

  I have a SQL Server Reporting Services local (i.e. RDLC) report displayed in a ReportViewer, with two subreports. I am using business objects to populate the datasets. What is the best way to populate single-instance data on my report, e.g. a dynamic title, or a text box that lists a calculated value, not based on the report data? I am currently displaying data using the following style: public class MyRecordList { string Name { get; set; } List<MyRecord> Records { get; set;} } public MyRecord { string Description { get; set;} string Value { get; set;} } I set the datasource to the Records in an instance of MyRecordsList, and they print out find in a table. But adding a textbox and and referring to Name displays nothing. I also tried turning Name into a List, and referring to the first in the list, using: =First(Fields!Name.Value, "Report1_MyRecordList") but still nothing is printed on the report.

Later in the code I convert this array to Big endian format: unsigned long *swapL = (unsigned long*)&datastores.cmtDatastores.u32Region[50]; for (int i=0;i<50;i++) { swapL[i] = _byteswap_ulong(swapL[i]); } This entire code snippet is part of a loop that repeats indefinitely. It is a contrived program that increments one element, decrements another and toggles a third element. The array is then sent via TCP to another machine that unpacks this data. The first loop works fine. After that, since the data is in big endian format, when I "increment", "decrement", and "toggle", the values are incorrect. Obviously, if in the first loop datastores.cmtDatastores.u32Region[0] += 1; results in 1, the second loop it should be 2, but it's not. It is adding the number 1(little endian) to the number in datastores.cmtDatastores.u32Region[0](big endian). I guess I have to revert back to little endian at the start of every loop, but it appears there should be an easier way to do this. Any thoughts? Thanks, Bobby

• jquery insertAfter or append question

  I am playing around with validating form inputs. For now I'm simply having fun with displaying a message after the input. I'm using the after() method to display simple text, and when I purposely make a mistake in the box I display the message perfectly. However, if I purposely make a mistake again, it immediately adds the same message after the first error message. Is there a method that replaces the original? I didn't want to try to add some more code to look for that original error message, delete it, and then insert the same message again. I will if I have to, but I thought I'd ask first.   On an iPhone App, I've got a custom keyboard which works like the standard keyboard; it appears if a custom textfield becomes first responder and hides if the field resigns first responder. Now since iPhone OS 3.0, UITableViewController automatically resizes its tableView when the system keyboards show and hide. I'm only now compiling against 3.0 and I thought that the controller should also resize the table if my custom keyboard appears, since I'm posting the same notification. However it doesn't. The table view controller is set as the delegate of the input fields. Does anyone have an idea why this might be the case? Has anyone implemented something similar successfully? I have standard input fields along the custom ones, so if the user changes the fields the standard keyboard hides and the custom one shows. It would be beneficial if the tableView didn't resize to full height and I didn't have to resize it back with a custom method.

Now in this page when user's name is displayed its showing rai.. thats the QUESTION why?? cause session should store the same mohit value cause we havnt made any change in session..

• WPF ComboBox IsSynchronised Default Value

  I am trying to display a default value (or even NO value) when selected index is -1, or selecteditem is null. This normally works perfectly fine but when I enable IsSynchronizedWithCurrentItem and set it to True, the first value in my DataTable gets displayed. How can I have both IsSynchronizedWithCurrentItem ="True" and show no/default value when it is loaded.
