    Hi I spent a day trying to make Ent Lib Logging work and log anything into database or event log, I have a web application and console application withe the same Ent Lib config, only the console is capable to log into the Event Log, I tried everything with permissions, but I don't know what exactly I am doing, which services should have what, It does not work!!     Hi i need to pass my Request.Form as a parameter, but first i have to add some key/value pairs to it. I get the exception that the Collection is readonly.     Whenever an unhandled exception occurs on our site, I want to: Send a notification email Clear the user's session Send the user to a error page ("Sorry, a problem occurred...") The first and last I've had working for a long time but the second is causing me some issues. I eventually found a reference that suggests that changes to session will not be saved unless Server.ClearError is called. Unfortunately, if I add this (just below the line that sets "ex") then the CustomErrors redirect doesn't seem to kick in and I'm left with a blank page? Is there a way around this?

    Am I doing something wrong if I need code like this in a Controller? Should I be doing something differently? public ActionResult Details(int id) { var svc = new ServiceClient(); var model = new MyViewModel(); model.ObjectA = svc.GetObjectA(id); model.ObjectB = svc.GetObjectB(id); model.ObjectC = svc.GetObjectC(id); return View(model); } The reason I ask, is because I've got Linq-To-Sql on the back end and a WCF Service which exposes functionality through a set of DTOs which are NOT the Linq-To-Sql generated classes and thus do not have the parent/child properties; but in the detail view, I would like to see some of the parent/child data.

  • Excel 2008 Cant Parse HTML

    I need to export a gridview to excel, I put the return html code from the gridview to a HtmlTextWriter and put this into the response. The result file work fine in excel, excel can parse the html and the result is readable, work perfect on excel 2003 and 2007, but in some machines with Excel 2008 (MACOS) excel shows only the raw html code and can't process this html code. Any idea to configure excel?     I have a controller action that is accepting sensitive data. public ActionResult TakeSensitiveData(SensitiveData data){ data.SaveSomewhere(); } To ensure the data is secure I want to be certain requests are made using HTTPS (SSLv3, TLS 1). One of the approaches I've considered using was the RequireHttpsAttribute on my action: [RequireHttps] public ActionResult TakeSensitiveData(SensitiveData data){ data.SaveSomewhere(); } However, upon testing this I fiddler revealed that an HTTP request made to the action is 302 redirected to HTTPS. My question is this: If I've made a request that is 302 redirected to HTTPS haven't I already sent the sensitive data over HTTP before the redirect?

  • Redirect in Application_Error redundant if using customErrors?

    If I have a customErrors section in my Web.config that says to redirect to Error.html, then putting code in the Application_Error method in the Global.asax to redirect to Error.html is redundant is it not? Technically, I could bypass the Web.config by redirecting to a different page in the Application_Error method if I wanted to, but since I don't want to go to a separate page I don't think I need the code.

  • Business applications suck, is there anything else out there?

    It seems most of the work is in business is applications like inventory, sales, banks, medical, human resources, government, insurance, document processing, file archiving etc. Would you agree? From my point of view business applications seem to occupy over 90% of the job offerings(because no one wants to work on those?). Furthermore, each big app I have worked on, the application itself sucked, like being paid in compensation for putting up with a bad code base and product. Seeing how those business apps seem to occupy most of the market, should one accept that this is just the sad reality of this business? Do you get to develop on projects that are more dynamic than those?

  • 398 row datalist slowing down modal open????

    Hey guys I got a weird issue.. I have a datalist that's only loaded on pageload it contains 2 columns a name and date and has 398 rows.. In IE 7 and above(and prob previous version) when I open a modal via a button click it takes almost 5 seconds to open. HOWEVER, if I do not bind this datalist it's MUCH faster.. Also this is only happening in IE, Chrome, Firefox and opera both open the modal instantly with the datalist binded... Josh
