  • .NET Results Class

    - by pm_2
I have a C# function that does some processing and needs to return figures about what it has processed, success, failure, etc. Can anyone tell me if there are any standard framework classes that will handle this (for example, number of records processed, number successful, failed, etc) ? Alternatively, can anyone say how they usually handle this? Is the best way to create a class, or to use out parameters?

  • How to loop through an array return from the Query of Mysql

    - by Jerry
This might be easy for you guys but i could't get it. I have a php class that query the database and return the query result. I assign the result to an array and wants to use it on my main.php script. I have tried to use echo $var[0] or echo $var[1] but the output are 'array' instead of my value. Anyone can help me about this issue? Thanks a lot! My php class <?php class teamQuery { function teamQuery(){ } function getAllTeam(){ $connection = mysql_connect(DB_SERVER,DB_USER,DB_PASS); if (!$connection) { die("Database connection failed: " . mysql_error()); } $db_select = mysql_select_db(DB_NAME,$connection); if (!$db_select) { die("Database selection failed: " . mysql_error()); } $teamQuery=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM team", $connection); if (!$teamQuery){ die("database has errors: ".mysql_error()); } $ret = array(); while($row=mysql_fetch_array($teamQuery)){ $ret[]=$row; } mysql_free_result($teamQuery); return $ret; } } ?> My php on the main.php $getTeam=new teamQuery(); $team=$getTeam->getAllTeam(); //echo $team[0] or team[1] output 'array' string! // while($team){ // do something } can't work either // How to loop through the values?? Thanks!

  • Regex to remove all but file name from links

    - by Moasely
Hi, I am trying to write a regexp that removes file paths from links and images. href="path/path/file" to href="file" href="/file" to href="file" src="/path/file" to src="file" and so on... I thought that I had it working, but it messes up if there are two paths in the string it is working on. I think my expression is too greedy. It finds the very last file in the entire string. This is my code that shows the expression messing up on the test input: <script type="text/javascript" src="/javascripts/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ var s = '<a href="one/keepthis"><img src="/one/two/keep.this"></a>'; var t = s.replace(/(src|href)=("|').*\/(.*)\2/gi,"$1=$2$3$2"); alert(t); }); </script> It gives the output: <a href="keep.this"></a> The correct output should be: <a href="keepthis"><img src="keep.this"></a> Thanks for any tips!

  • Creating websites: Code by hand or use a visual editor?

    - by Peak
What is currently the best way to code a (semi complicated) website that uses html, css, javascript and some server stuff (php?)? Would you code most of it by hand, use a visual editor for certains parts, are there standard quality editors nowadays? How do web developers go about doing this?

  • parsing ssid with iwconfig in c

    - by user1781595
I am about building a bar for DWM (ubuntu linux), showing wifi details such as the ssid. Thats my code: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> int main( int argc, char *argv[] ) { FILE *fp; int status; char path[1035]; /* Open the command for reading. */ fp = popen("iwconfig", "r"); if (fp == NULL) { printf("Failed to run command\n" ); exit; } char s[500]; /* Read the output a line at a time - output it. */ while (fgets(path, sizeof(path)-1, fp) != NULL) { sprintf(s,"%s%s",s, path); } //printf("%s",s); /* close */ pclose(fp); char delimiter[1] = "s"; char *ptr; ptr = strtok(s, delimiter); printf("SSID: %s\n", ptr); return 0; } i am getting overflowerrors and dont know what to do. I dont think, thats a good way to get the ssid either... :/ Suggestions?

  • C++ Libraries similar to C#?

    - by cam
I'm coming to C++ from a .Net background. Knowing how to use the Standard C++ Libraries, and all the syntax, I've never ventured further. Now I'm looking learning a bit more, such as what libraries are commonly used? I want to start getting into Threading but have no idea to start. Is there a library (similar to how .net has System.Threading) out there that will make it a bit easier? I'm specifically looking to do Linux based network programming.

  • How to remove compiler flag when building Boost

    - by mlo
I need to build Boost with a non-standard set of flags (due to a conflict between Boost threading and C++/CLI). I'm adding the required flag (/clr) using CXXFLAGS, but this flag conflicts with the Boost default /EHs flag (/clr implies /EHa which is incompatible with /EHs), so that needs to be suppressed. Is there a mechanism like CXXFLAGS to suppress a default Boost flag or must I edit all of the compiler specification files by hand?

  • Extract dates from filename(C#3.0)

    - by Newbie
I have a situation where I need to extract dates from the file names whose general pattern is [filename_]YYYYMMDD[.fileExtension] e.g. "xxx_20100326.xls" or x2v_20100326.csv The below program does the work //Number of charecter in the substring is set to 8 //since the length of YYYYMMDD is 8 public static string ExtractDatesFromFileNames(string fileName) { return fileName.Substring(fileName.IndexOf("_") + 1, 8); } Is there any better option of achieving the same? I am basically looking for standard practice. I am using C#3.0 and dotnet framework 3.5 Thanks

  • Which ISO format should I use to store a user's language?

    - by John Himmelman
Should I use ISO 639-1 (2-letter abbreviation) or ISO 639-2 (3 letter abbrv) to store the user's language? Both are official standards, but which is the de facto standard in the development community? I think ISO 639-1 would be easier to remember, and is probably more popular for that reason, but thats just a guess. The site I'm building will have a separate site for the US, Brazil, Russia, China, & the UK. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_639

  • empty base class optimization

    - by FredOverflow
Two quotes from the C++ standard, §1.8: An object is a region of storage. Base class subobjects may have zero size. I don't think a region of storage can be of size zero. That would mean that some base class subobjects aren't actually objects. Opinions?

  • Need some help understanding a weird C behavior

    - by mike
    This part of my code works fine: #include <stdio.h> int main(){ //char somestring[3] = "abc"; int i, j; int count = 5; for((i=0) && (j=0); count > 0; i++ && j++){ printf("i = %d and j = %d\n", i, j); count--; } return 0; } The output as expected: i : 0 and j : 0 i : 1 and j : 1 i : 2 and j : 2 i : 3 and j : 3 i : 4 and j : 4 Things get weird when I uncomment the char string declaration on the first line of the function body. #include <stdio.h> int main(){ char somestring[3] = "abc"; ... } The output: i : 0 and j : 4195392 i : 1 and j : 4195393 i : 2 and j : 4195394 i : 3 and j : 4195395 i : 4 and j : 4195396 What's the logic behind this? I'm using gcc 4.4.1 on Ubuntu 9.10.

  • SVN tags: How not to update/checkout them?

    - by Boldewyn
In many projects, I check out the complete repository and have then the standard directory structure: project/ branches/ tags/ trunk/ If I do an svn up project, it's all fine with the branches and trunk folders, but, of course, the tags folder is updated, too, and filled with (mostly) lots of tagged versions that are of no value for my work and only occupy disk space. How can I except the tags folder from an svn update? Especially, how can I do this locally only, that is, without committing that back to the repository, as a solution with the svn:ignore keyword would do?

  • How to get CVS notification emails to contain link to diff ?

    - by Ro
Hi All, Is there any way to get CVS e-mail notifications to inlude links to my ViewCVS server where clicking a link could bring up the diff ? Currently my loginfo file just has entries like this ^installation cat | /usr/bin/Mail -s "[cvs-update installation]" [email protected] The e-mails we all then get (Afairly standard I imagine) contain the commit message and list of files changed. Cheers, Ro

  • How to return a variable from a javascript function into html body.

    - by anthr
Hi there, I am still new to javascript, and I am trying to get a function to return a variable using html & javascript. Basically the function should just return whichever radio button that the user clicks on, although at the moment I don't see anything being returned at all. The function is here: <script type="text/javascript"> function GetSelectedItem() { var chosen = "" len = document.f1.r1.length for (i = 0; i <len; i++) { if (document.f1.r1[i].checked) { chosen = document.f1.r1[i].value } } } return chosen </script> And then in the html section I have these radio buttons, and my attempt to get the variable "chosen" output to the screen. <form name = f1><Input type = radio Name = r1 Value = "ON" onClick=GetSelectedItem()>On <Input type = radio Name = r1 Value = "OFF" onClick =GetSelectedItem()>Off</form> <script type ="text/javascript">document.write(chosen)</script> At the moment nothing seems to be getting returned from the function (although if I output the variable 'chosen' inside the function then it is working correctly. Thanks in advance!

  • What is tagged structure initialization syntax?

Can someone elaborate?

  • do you call them functions, procedures or methods?

    - by lowlyintern
consider a standard c# 'function' public void foo() { //some code } In c or c++ this is called a 'function' - even if taking no parameters and returning no value. In another language maybe it would be a 'procedure'. In object orientation speak it would be called a 'method' if a class member. What would be the correct term to use in c#?
