• flex 4 release changes to application are not showing up.

  I just took over a clients flex project and I can't get the app to reflect even a simple trace statement. Before I took over, the project was last successfully built using the Flash Builder Beta 2 environment/sdk. I have the latest release version of Flash Builder 4. Upon importing the project into FB4, I got a ton of errors. Most of them mostly because of the changes made to the sdk from beta2 to release. Some of the things I corrected: - mx namespace from library://ns.adobe.com/flex/halo to library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx - video player skinning: a lot of the state names for the video player component had been changed, more required states had been added. also there were other video related component and property names that had to be updated. But I fixed all that and the application was finally able to compile (although with some warnings mostly of the duplicate variable type) The only thing now is that whatever change I make to the project doesn't get reflected in the build (debug or release). I changed existing traces, added additional traces. Nothing shows up. I even removed the applicationComplete property in the main.mxml. Everything still ran like nothing changed. Also I can't seem to debug the app. Whenever I try to debug.. flash builder says.. "Swf Application doesn't contain the required debugging information ... " Anyone have any idea how I need to even begin tackling all this? Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

• How to reference individual cells in Excel to variable data from records in an external SQL table

  I have a SQL table containing date oriented financial data eg. multiple daily records with fields for Date, Account code and Value. I want to set up dynamic links (formulas) from cells in an Excel speadsheet to this data so when the spreadsheet is loaded the data is fetched from all the relevant records. The spreadsheet has the Account codes on the x axis and Dates on the y. Each day the SQL table has new data in it for the new day and I want the spreadsheet to reference this new data for the column for the new day. Any ideas? I have seen how you can generally bring in data from a SQL table (in our case using ODBC as it is not MS SQL) but the data is not simply bringing in multiple records as you would a CVS file but specific records in the SQL table referencing to specific cells and columns in the spreadsheet.

• Sharepoint 2010 reacts very badly to having it's IP address changed. How do I fix it?

  I have Sharepoint 2010 set up on a virtual host for prototyping various projects. If I restart the host, the IP changes. Afterwards, SP complains that it can't find it's configuration database. I can't find where it might be storing an IP. To clarify, the URL remains the same - I have a dynamic dns solution in place to handle that. I can't see anything in the web.config files or the database connection strings that would indicate a hardcoded IP. How can I fix this up in less time than re-installing every time I need to do a project?

EDIT this does seem to be something specific to the Compact Framework - recompiling the class libraries and the unit tests for the full framework, gives the expected output (i.e. the debugger stops when I'm going to throw a NotImplementedException).

  Hi, I'm trying to load a local SWF file and use the classes in that SWF (its a code only SWF, nothing in library). I can run the build fine on my iPad and have been testing extensively with other users' iPads also with no problems whatsoever. Also, this is an update to an existing app that has had several updates already with no problems. I just double checked my deployment build and the framework is definitely included, and I just installed that build onto my iPad (with a different provisioning profile from the store) and it works fine also. What could be happening? Could it be that Xcode just did a bad build for the one I sent to Apple, or am I missing something obvious? Could I change the MIDINetworkNotificationSessionDidChange notification symbol to a literal string (@"MIDINetworkNotificationSessionDidChange") to fix things for the mean time? Thanks for any help!

  I have two computers that share the same Internet IP address. Using one of the computers, I can remotely connect to a SQL Server database on the other. Here is my connection string: SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(@"Data Source=192.168.1.101\SQLEXPRESSNI,1433;Network Library=DBMSSOCN;Initial Catalog=FirstDB;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=username;Password=password;"); 192.168.1.101 is the server, SQLEXPRESSNI is the SQL Server instance name, and FirstDB is the name of the database. Now, I have another computer with a different Internet IP address. I want to connect to the server above using the third computer that does not belong to my local area network. I dont have access to that third computer at the moment, so I want to use (if possible) the client computer in LAN again. SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(@"Data Source=SharedInternetIP\SQLEXPRESSNI,1433;Network Library=DBMSSOCN;Initial Catalog=FirstDB;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=username;Password=password;"); Does not work Note that I am a beginner, so I am not quite sure what I am doing even though I know what I want to do. (will the secuirty features be an issue, with different SIDs from the different users) Should I go with FAT32? Should I try out the new exFAT? Also, I curently have two of my 3 drives as "dynamic disks" and 1 spaned volume created on them. (i did this from XP) Win7 can see them/it fine. Is this an ok thing to do?

• Finding What You Need in R: function arguments/parameters from outside the function's package

  Often in R, there are a dozen functions scattered across as many packages--all of which have the same purpose but of course differ in accuracy, performance, theoretical rigor, and so on. How do you gather all of these in one place before you start your task? So for instance: the generic plot function. Setting secondary ticks is much easier (IMHO) using a function outside of the base package, minor.tick(nx=n, ny=n, tick.ratio=n), found in Hmisc. Of course, that doesn't show up in plot's docstring. Likewise, the data-input arguments to 'plot' can be supplied by an object returned from the function 'hexbin', again, from a library outside of the base installation (where 'plot' resides). What would be great obviously is a programmatic way to gather these function arguments from the various libraries and put them in a single namespace. edit: (trying to re-state my example just above more clearly:) the arguments to plot supplied in the base package for, e.g., setting the axis tick frequency are xaxp/yaxp; however, one can also set a/t/f via a function outside of the base package, again, as in the minor.tick function from the Hmisc package--but you wouldn't know that just from looking at the plot method signature. Is there a meta function in R for this? So far, as i come across them, i've been manually gathering them in a TextMate 'snippet' (along with the attendant library imports). This isn't that difficult or time consuming, but i can only update my snippet as i find out about these additional arguments/parameters. Is there a canonical R way to do this, or at least an easier way? Just in case that wasn't clear, i am not talking about the case where multiple packages provide functions directed to the same statistic or view (e.g., 'boxplot' in the base package; 'boxplot.matrix' in gplots; and 'bplots' in Rlab). What i am talking is the case in which the function name is the same across two or more packages.

  I've created an event receiver to handle the ItemAdded and ItemUpdating events on a document library in SharePoint 2010. I've encountered a problem where when I add a document to the library (e.g. by saving it back from Word) the ItemAdded method is correctly called however this is then followed by two calls to ItemUpdating. I have removed all code from my handlers to ensure that it's not something I'm doing inside that is causing the problem.   Many android applications have quite poor i18n-support, and for an understandable reason, as it adds much work for the developer. From a both intuitive and cultural point of view it would be a good thing if end-users could translate the apps themself, and OTA share the translation, without reinstalling the app itself. In concept; as wikipedia, some add content easily, others only use what's there. It's of course important that the service is as easy as possible to use, both for app-developers, and people willing to transcribe. To keep it simple, this is the solution I'm concidering; Developer perspective: Developer uses a customized setContentView when open activities/layouts that will seach for thanslations of xml-entries. (below) The customized version is provided as a free downloadable library/class..., turning the i18n feature to more or less a one liner. User perspective: User downloads app without any translation As app launches, it checks locale running at phone, and will look for a translated xml-file at shared space in SD. If no or old transcribed xml (above), try to download new from internet-service (ansync). This is all done by library above, no need for intents. Translator perspective: Separate app to provide translations for any app using the i18n service above. (Could be just a webapp), with some form of QA on translators/input. QUESTION: Now, for this to work efficiently, it has to be AeasyAP for the developer to even bother, and the most fluent solution would be a customized version of setContentView, that simply loads the translated values from external xml, instead of the ones in the apk. Is this possible at all, and if not, what's your suggested solutions? • Why no Win16 support in 64-bit Windows?

  My understanding (from Wikipedia) is that the x64 instruction set supports executing 16-bit protected mode code from long mode, but cannot execute real mode code without being switched out of long mode because long mode lacks virtual 8086 mode. Therefore, it stands to reason that real mode DOS apps can't be run in Win64 w/o software emulation or dynamic translation. However, why was support for Win16 protected-mode apps excluded when support for them seems (at least at first glance) to be reasonably implementable and is included in newer versions of Win32? Was it just a matter of demand not being high enough to justify implementation costs (and the win32 version was already implemented), or is there a good technical reason?

Currently I have the follwing config that works: index index.php; location / { index index.php index.html index.htm; } location /joomla_1/ { try_files $uri $uri/ /joomla_1/index.php?q=$uri&$args; } location /joomla_2/ { try_files $uri $uri/ /joomla_2/index.php?q=$uri&$args; } location ~ \.php$ { fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php5-fpm/joomla.sock; ... } I'm trying to combine joomla_N rules in one: location ~ ^/(joomla_[^/]+)/ { try_files $uri $uri/ /$1/index.php?q=$uri&$args; } but server starts to return index.php as is (does not call the php-fpm). It looks like the nginx stops the processing of the regex rules after the first match. Is there any way to combine this rules with something like regex?

  When operating in the cloud and scaling boxes automatically, there are certain monitoring issues that one experiences. Sometimes we might be monitoring 10 boxes and sometimes 100. The machines will scale up and down based on a demand. Right now, I think the best solution to this is to choose a monitoring solution that will instantiation of targets via calls to an API. But, is this really the best? I like the idea of dynamic discovery, but that is also a problem in the cloud seeing that the targets are not all in the same subnet. What monitoring solutions allow for a scaling environment like this? Zabbix currently has a draft API but I have been unable to fund a similar API for Nagios. Is there a similar API for Nagios? Anyone have any alternate suggestions besides Nagios and Zabbix?

  I heard recently that Nginx has added caching to its reverse proxy feature. I looked around but couldn't find much info about it. I want to set up Nginx as a caching reverse proxy in front of Apache/Django: to have Nginx proxy requests for some (but not all) dynamic pages to Apache, then cache the generated pages and serve subsequent requests for those pages from cache. Ideally I'd want to invalidate cache in 2 ways: Set an expiration date on the cached item To explicitly invalidate the cached item. E.g. if my Django backend has updated certain data, I'd want to tell Nginx to invalidate the cache of the affected pages Is it possible to set Nginx to do that? How?

  I am new to WebAPI. I have a MVC project and webApi project both reside under the **same solution**. Also, BLL Class library and DAL class library reside under the same solution. Earlier, my MVC project will talk to the BLL now I am trying to create a WebAPi project which stands in between MVC and BLL. Here is what I have come up with so far : I'm using the HTTPClient to post to a WebApi project. My post method on my controller accepts a single parameter (a model). StatsCriteria criteria = new StatsCriteria(); ...... var client = new HttpClient(); var response = client.PostAsJsonAsync("http://localhost:52765/api/reports", criteria).Result; ....... Here's the signature for my controller in Webapi [HttpPost] public CMAReportVM Reports([FromBody] StatsCriteria criteria) { var cmaReport = Service3.GetCMAReport(criteria.Mlsnums); //Create Map to enable mapping business object to View Model Mapper.CreateMap<CMAReport, CMAReportVM>(); // Maps model to VM model class var cmaVM = Mapper.Map<CMAReport, CMAReportVM>(cmaReport); reutn cmaVM; } // and here's my routing: config.Routes.MapHttpRoute( name: "DefaultApi", routeTemplate: "api/{controller}/{id}", defaults: new { id = RouteParameter.Optional } I am getting the following 405 : Method not allowed. • Uploading multiple files asynchronously by blueimp jquery-fileupload

  I'm using jQuery File Upload library (http://github.com/blueimp/jQuery-File-Upload), and I've been stuck figuring out how to use the library satisfying the following conditions. The page has multiple file input fields surrounded by a form tag. Users can attach multiple files to each input field All files are sent to a server when the button is clicked, not when files are attached to the input fields.   Would appreciate help with generating a 2D histogram of frequencies, where frequencies are calculated within a column. My main issue: converting from counts to column based frequency.
