• GMap.NET shows no map

  I'm trying to use the GMap.NET.WindowsForms control in my Windows forms application but I cannot make it show me any map. Here is what I did: I added the control to my Visual Studio's 2010 toolbox by clicking 'Choose Items...' from the toolbox's context menu and browsing for the GMap.NET.WindowsForms.dll included in the downloaded zip archive. I also added references to GMap.NET.Core.dll and System.Data.SQLite.dll in my solution. Then I put the GMapControl that appeared in the toolbox on the main form of my application and set the map type to GoogleMap. When I run my application, however, the control shows either a blue screen with a piece of text saying "We are sorry, but we don't have imagery at this zoom level for this region" or a bright screen with completely no data (when I change zoom level). Here is my code: GMapMain.MapType = MapType.GoogleMap; GMapMain.MaxZoom = 100; GMapMain.MinZoom = 0; GMapMain.Zoom = 50; GMapMain.CurrentPosition = new PointLatLng(54.6961334816182, 25.2985095977783); GMapMain.ReloadMap(); Please help. • Acer Aspire ASE700-UQ660A will not respond to power button

  This is something of a continuation of this question. I am now completely unable to boot this computer. The last time I used it, I used hibernation mode. When I needed to use it again, it would not respond at all to the power button, keyboard, or mouse. I tried: Holding down the power button for 15 seconds pressing the power button Unplugging the power cord for 30 seconds, plugging it back in, and trying again Removing the motherboard battery for over a minute and reinstalling it Before removing the motherboard battery, none of the lights on the front of the computer lit up. After reinstalling the battery and plugging the power cord back in, the light behind the power button is constantly illuminated (without even pressing the power button), but there is still no response to the power button, no fans turned on, nothing else that would indicate that it is running. System: Acer Aspire ASE700-UQ660A (Specs should be all factory defaults except:) 4 GB RAM Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT with driver version 197.45 Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

  I'v been trying to anti alias with OGL. I found a code chunk that is supposed to do this but I see no antialiasing. I also reset my settings in Nvidia Control Panel but no luck. Does this code in fact antialias the cube? • I don't understand how GDM is starting...

  I'm on Karmic. I had no keyboard, so I enabled autologin and some other stuff over ssh to get x2x going. Now I can't find what I did. I'm trying to just start X and XBMC now. I don't need gnome. I disabled gdm: sudo update-rc.d -f gdm remove but it still somehow manages to start on boot. Where can I look around for what I did? If I stop gdm then startx again, it goes straight to XBMC like I want.

• CQRS - The query side

  A lot of the blogsphere articles related to CQRS (command query repsonsibility) seperation seem to imply that all screens/viewmodels are flat. e.g. Name, Age, Location Of Birth etc.. and thus the suggestion that implementation wise we stick them into fast read source etc.. single table per view mySQL etc.. and pull them out with something like primitive SqlDataReader, kick that nasty nhibernate ORM etc.. However, whilst I agree that domain models dont mapped well to most screens, many of the screens that I work with are more dimensional, and Im sure this is pretty common in LOB apps. So my question is how are people handling screen where by for example it displays a summary of customer details and then a list of their orders with a [more detail] link etc.... I thought about keeping with the straight forward SQL query to the Query Database breaking off the outer join so can build a suitable ViewModel to View but it seems like overkill? Alternatively (this is starting to feel yuck) in CustomerSummaryView table have a text/big (whatever the type is in your DB) column called Orders, and the columns for the Order summary screen grid are seperated by , and rows by |. Even with XML datatype it still feeel dirty. Any thoughts on an optimal practice?

• c# ListView unable to check a checkbox! Strange problem.

  This is a strange problem, I've not added much code as I don't know were to start. I have a listview control in virtual mode, if I filter the listview to show me all people called John, I then see 3 users called John, I then cancel the filter setting all values to null and return all data to the listview, I now have several hundred items in the list but I can only see 30 on screen unless I scroll down the listview. I then use the code below to check a checkbox in each row, all get checked apart from the 3 Johns but if I can see 1 of the 3 Johns in listview without scrolling and then run the code below the visible John is checked. for (int i = 0; i < this._items.Count; i++) { this._items[i].Checked = true; } I have checked the status of the checkbox just before it is checked in the above code and if John is visible then the checkbox believes it is unchecked (false), if it is not visible it belives it is checked (true). So having one visible John on screen the checkbox looks unchecked and running a test proves it is unchecked, for the two Johns I can't see they believe they are checked but if I scroll down so I can see them they aren't. Any ideas? Thanks

• UIImagePickerController image editing not working

  I am having a problem with implementing UIImagePickerController. When the controller loads, it displays modally, and allows the user to select the image. Good so far. Yet, then when it moves to the editing phase, it often displays somewhat corrupted view (the image cropping box is halfway off the top of the screen) and their is no image. It does not crash, but all UI interaction is blocked. The strange part is that this only happens when I compile with Release settings. Under debug compile settings, the image editing works fine! I have tried checking for memory warnings during this time, but none are showing up. Here is the code calling the image picker controller for reference. When I use the camera (the first method), it always works fine. It is just when selecting images from the Library (called from the second method below) does it fail as described above. • Dreamweaver Delete Space to Word, Not Word

  There's a built in DW keyboard shortcut (Ctrl + Del) that deletes up to AND INCLUDING the first word to the right. I used to use the ColdFusion Studio app for coding and it would just remove the space UP TO the word (left the word or bracket, or whatever alone.) Any DW users know if this is a setting that can be changed? I'm really used to the old behavior and keep deleting the first word, hitting Ctrl + Z to put it back and then having to manually delete all the spaces to leave the word... • Mysterious gray square outlines on certain desktop icons?

  Recently, my hand slipped on my mouse/keyboard and I accidentally increased the icon size. After resetting it and fixing them, I noticed these incredibly annoying small gray outlines around only certain desktop icons. I have one third party program called 'Desktop Restore' that I use to save and restore icon layouts, but I have no reason to believe that it should have anything to do with it. My question is: Is this something in Windows 7? If so, what is it there for and how can I turn it off? Killing explorer.exe and restarting it doesn't fix the problem, not even rebooting...

• Get most left|right|top|bottom point contained in box

  I'm storing Points Of Interest (POI) in PostgreSQL database, and retrieve them via PHP script to Android application. To reduce internet usage I want my mobile app to know if there are any points in the neighborhood of currently displayed area. My idea is to store bounds of the rectangle containing all points already retrieved (in other words: nearest point on the left (West) of most west already retrieved, nearest point above (North) of most north already retrieved etc.) and I will make next query when any edge of screen goes outside of this bounds. Currently I can retrieve points which are in "single screen" (in the area covered by currently displayed map) using: SELECT * FROM ch WHERE loc <@ (box '((".-$latSpan.", ".$lonSpan."),(".$latSpan.", ".-$lonSpan."))' + point '".$loc."') Now I need to know four most remote points in each direction, than I will be able to retrieve next four "more remote" points. Is there any possibility to get those points (or box) directly from PostgreSQL (maybe using some "aggregate points to box" function)?

• VirtualBox Mac - Is it possible re-map a key for a VM

  I am running Windows inside VirtualBox on Mac OSX. However, I am frequently copying and pasting/undoing etc using keyboard shortcuts. Because Mac is dumb and tries to be different, common shortcuts such as ctrl+c and ctrl+v are cmd+c and cmd+v on Mac. This creates a problem because I keep trying to use mac-style shortcuts in the VM, or windows-style shortcuts on the Mac (my workflow is, do ASP.NET dev in the VM, but use the Mac hosts browser). What I would like to be able to do is make VirtualBox send "Command" key presses as "Ctrl" to the VM, so that I dont have to keep remembering which environment I am in and thinking about which key combination I need to use. Is this possible?

  Trying to optimize my day here, making do with IIS... When executing IISRESET from the Run dialog or from cmd.exe, I get an access denied error. So executing IISRESET gets annoying - involving both mouse and keyboard: Start - Run - cmd (right-click, Run as Administrator) Agree to the UAC dialog Type iisreset, hit enter I'm looking to be able to run IISRESET as quickly as possible. Ideally I could just go Start - Run - iisreset - Enter, and the UAC prompt would pop up. I tried to enable "Run this program as an Administrator" but it was greyed out, even when I opened the properties dialog as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. Thinking of making a Visual Studio macro and a toolbar button; anyone got any other ideas?

• Skype keypad tones

  Hi, When I push a number on the Skype keypad (or use the number keys on the keyboard) no tone is emitted. This happens both when dialling a number and if I push a key during a call. This makes it impossible for me to use Skype with automated telephone systems that require you to use the keypad to enter data or choose between various options. I spoke to somebody who works in a call centre about this and they indicated that somebody had mentioned that it's possible to disable (DTMF) tones in Skype. I've looked through all the Skype options and can't find any way to enable/disable DTMF tones. If somebody knows how I can do this, or has another suggestion for fixing the problem, please let me know. I'm using version 4.2.0.152 of Skype. Thanks, Don

  I have a CALayer transformed in 3D on a offscreen UIView (much larger than 320x480). How do I dump what is seen on this UIView to a UIImage? NOTE: I Have edited the question to include this code...   I always Hibernate my PC. Sometimes when I boot, it does not recognize the mouse/keyboard or any USB devices. I've also setup it to go in sleep in 5 minutes. In that case I can't restart the PC so that USB starts working. When I press the Power button then it starts shutdown but asks confirmation twice, one is for shutdown by force confirmation and then there is one more. When my USB is disabled I can't input these options. So I switch off the power.   We recently had an issues where I had rebooted our EC2 instance (Ubuntu x86_64, version 9.10 server) and due to an EC2 issue the instance needed to be stopped and was down for a few days. Now I have been able to bring the instance back online I cannot connect to SSH using the keypair which previously worked. • Windows 7 randomly installs an "Unknown Device" successfully

  Rarely (several days to weeks between occurrences,) and seemingly at random, I get a balloon notification from Windows 7 (x64 SP1 Home Premium) that it is installing hardware for me. Whatever is being installed does so without error. However, no new hardware has been installed or plugged in! When I click the balloon it doesn't give me any useful information: Looking in the event log, I find this entry: Event ID: 20001 Source: UserPnp Task Category: 7005 Message: Driver Management concluded the process to install driver FileRepository\usb.inf_amd64_neutral_153b489118ee37b8\usb.inf for Device Instance ID USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\6&3AF9A177&0&0060&&02 with the following status: 0x0. It appears to be USB related. My motherboard has both USB 2.0 and 3.0 controllers. My keyboard and mouse are plugged into the 2.0 slots and the data/recharge cable for a tablet (but not the tablet itself) was plugged in to the 3.0 slot. No other USB devices have been attached for several days/reboots. Why is Windows doing this?

  I am trying to use LWP::Simple to make a GET request to a REST service. Here's the simple code: use LWP::Simple; $uri = "http://api.stackoverflow.com/0.8/questions/tagged/php"; $jsonresponse= get $uri; print $jsonresponse; On my local machine, running Ubuntu 10.4, and Perl version 5.10.1: farhan@farhan-lnx:~$ perl --version This is perl, v5.10.1 (*) built for x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi I can get the correct response and have it printed on the screen. E.g.: farhan@farhan-lnx:~$ head -10 output.txt { "total": 1000, "page": 1, "pagesize": 30, "questions": [ { "tags": [ "php", "arrays", "coding-style" (... snipped ...) But on my host's machine to which I SSH into, I get garbage printed on the screen for the same exact code. I am assuming it has something to do with the encoding, but the REST service does not return the character set type in the response, so how do I force LWP::Simple to use the correct encoding?
