• How do I refer to a constant URL in my route configuration?

  Suppose I have the following within a webpage <% using (Html.BeginForm("ShowData", "Summary")) %> <% { %> <div class="dropdown"><%=Html.DropDownList("CourseSelection", Model.CourseList, new { @class = "dropdown", onchange="this.form.submit();" })%> </div> <% } %> When the user makes a selection from the dropdown the form is submitted and I would like it to link to another page with a URL as follows: http://localhost:1721/Summary I have the following routes: routes.MapRoute(null, "Summary", new { controller = "Summary", action = "ShowData", CourseSelection = (string) null }); routes.MapRoute("Default", "{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { controller = "Login", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional }); When a user selects an item in the dropdownlist, the URL returned is: http://localhost:1721/Summary/ShowData?CourseSelection = UserSelection Clearly the first route in the list is not being matched. I don't want the URL to show the action name and parameter. I simply want to show "Summary" which is what I have hard coded in the URL. How do I achieve this?

• Using for or while loops

  Every month, 4 or 5 text files are created. The data in the files is pulled into MS Access and used in a mailmerge. Each file contains a header. This is an example: HEADER|0000000130|0000527350|0000171250|0000058000|0000756600|0000814753|0000819455|100106 The 2nd field is the number of records contained in the file (excluding the header line). The last field is the date in the form yymmdd. Using gawk (for Windows), I've done ok with rearranging/modifying the data and writing it all out to a new file for importing into Access except for the following. I'm trying to create a unique ID number for each record. The ID number has the form 1mmddyyXXXX, where XXXX is a number, padded with leading zeros. Using the header above, the first record in the output file would get the ID number 10106100001 and the last record would get the ID 10106100130. I've tried putting the second field in the header into a variable, rearranging the last header field into the required date format and then looping with "for" statements to append the XXXX part of the ID and then outputting it all with printf but so far I've been complete rubbish at it. The problem that I encountered is that even if I launch multiple instances of my application, the IE windows that are created with this method all share the same cookie container. Is there any parameter I could use specifying that a different cookie container is created for every window? • Why doesn't my cursor change to an Hourglass in my FindDialog in Delphi?

  I am simply opening my FindDialog with: FindDialog.Execute; In my FindDialog.OnFind event, I want to change the cursor to an hourglass for searches through large files, which may take a few seconds. So in the OnFind event I do this: Screen.Cursor := crHourglass; (code that searches for the text and displays it) ... Screen.Cursor := crDefault; What happens is while searching for the text, the cursor properly changes to the hourglass (or rotating circle in Vista) and then back to the pointer when the search is completed. However, this only happens on the main form. It does not happen on the FindDialog itself. The default cursor remains on the FindDialog during the search. While the search is happening if I move the cursor over the FindDialog it changes to the default, and if I move it off and over the main form it becomes the hourglass. This does not seem like what is supposed to happen. Am I doing something wrong or does something special need to be done to get the cursor to be the hourglass on all forms? For reference, I'm using Delphi 2009.

  Hi there, I have a simple application to store address details and edit them. I have been away from VB for a few years now and need to refreash my knowledge while working to a tight deadline. I have a general Sub responsible for displaying a form where user can add contact details (by pressing button add) and edit them (by pressing button edit). This sub is stored in a class Contact. The way it is supposed to work is that there is a list with all the contacts and when new contact is added a new entry is displayed. If user wants to edit given entry he or she selects it and presses edit button Public Sub Display() Dim C As New Contact C.Cont = InputBox("Enter a title for this contact.") C.Fname = frmAddCont.txtFName.Text C.Surname = frmAddCont.txtSName.Text C.Address = frmAddCont.txtAddress.Text frmStart.lstContact.Items.Add(C.Cont.ToString) End Sub I call it from the form responsible for adding new contacts by Dim C As New Contact C.Display() and it works just fine. However when I try to do something similar using the edit button I get errors - "Unable to cast object of type 'System.String' to type 'AddressBook.Contact'." Dim C As Contact If lstContact.SelectedItem IsNot Nothing Then C = lstContact.SelectedItem() C.Display() End If I think it may be something simple however I wasn't able to fix it and given short time I have I decided to ask for help here. • active_admin/formtastic ignoring polymorphic associations

  I'm currently having trouble with the form for a polymorphic association in active_admin in Ruby on Rails. I have three models set up: offices, companies and users. Both companies and users can own an office. My models are set up as follows: class Office < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :ownable, :polymorphic => true end class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :offices, :as => :ownable end class Company < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :offices, :as => :ownable end active_admin doesn't allow me to edit the owner on its forms, but does show it correctly on the index and show pages (including links to the company or user). I've tried playing with formtastic to manually create the form but have not had any luck - the "ownable" fields just get ignored and everything else renders properly. To be clear: I want to be able to edit the owner of the Office model on the new and edit fields in active_admin. Can anyone offer any help? :)

I am sending mail from my server directly, but receiving mail is done via Yandex (email provider). Since the server hosts forum, I prefer to send mail directly from it because using another mail provider can slow things. • C# Switch-case Loop for Datagridview cells

  Hi, I am working on a form with datagridview and webbrowser controls. I have three columns as URL, username and password in datagridview. What I want to do is to automate the login for some websites that I use frequently. For that reason I am not sure if this is the right approach but I created the below code. The problem is with the argument of switch. I will click the row on datagridview and then click the login_button so that the username and password info will be passed to the related fields on the webpage. Why I need a switch-case loop is because all the webpages have different element IDs for username and password fields.   Hi! I have problem with setting proper charset on my jsf pages. I use MySql db with latin2 (ISO-8859-2 charset) and latin2_croatian_ci collation. But, I have problems with setting values on backing managed bean properties. Page directive on top of my page is: <%@ page language="java" pageEncoding="ISO-8859-2" contentType="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-2" %> In head I included: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-2"> And my form tag is: <h:form id="entityDetails" acceptcharset="ISO-8859-2"> I've created and registered Filter in web.xml with following doFilter method implementation: public void doFilter(ServletRequest request, ServletResponse response, FilterChain chain) throws IOException, ServletException { request.setCharacterEncoding("ISO-8859-2"); response.setCharacterEncoding("ISO-8859-2"); chain.doFilter(request, response); } But, i.e. when I set managed bean property through inputText, all special (unicode) characters are replaced with '?' character. I really don't have any other ideas how to set charset to pages to perform well. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

• Need advice on OOP philosophy

  I'm trying to get the wheels turning on a large project in C#. My previous experience is in Delphi, where by default every form was created at applicaton startup and form references where held in (gasp) global variables. So I'm trying to adapt my thinking to a 100% object oriented environment, and my head is spinning just a little. My app will have a large collection of classes Most of these classes will only really need one instance. So I was thinking: static classes. I'm not really sure why, but much of what I've read here says that if my class is going to hold a state, which I take to mean any property values at all, I should use a singleton structure instead. Okay. But there are people out there who for reasons that escape me, think that singletons are evil too. None of these classes is in danger of being used anywhere except in this program. So they could certainly work fine as regular objects (vs singletons or static classes) Then there's the issue of interaction between objects. I'm tempted to create a Global class full of public static properties referencing the single instances of many of these classes. I've also considered just making them properties (static or instance, not sure which) of the MainForm. Then I'd have each of my classes be aware of the MainForm as Owner. Then the various objects could refer to each other as Owner.Object1, Owner.Object2, etc. I fear I'm running out of electronic ink, or at least taxing the patience of anyone kind enough to have stuck with me this long. I hope I have clearly explained my state of utter confusion. I'm just looking for some advice on best practices in my situation. All input is welcome and appreciated. • Problems getting text from an openWysiwyg enabled TextBox

  I have a multiline text box on a form. I dropped in the js file for openWYSIWYG and attached it to the textbox. When I submit the form, the text box has no value. I'm having problems finding documentation on this library. Has anyone else used this who would be able to direct me as to where I can troubleshoot this issue.   So my program works like this: using winforms, user enters ID number, using an array, based on the right id number, that student information and class schedule outputs in a message box! My question is how to take the 4 classes in the message box/array and write them to the linklabel text in form 2???? • Jeditable with jQuery UI Datepicker

  I need to have a click to edit element on a page, that will in turn invoke an instance of the jQuery UI Datepicker. Currently, I'm using JEditable to provide the in place editing, which is working fine. However, I have a date control input that I would like to have appear as a calendar, which is where the fun starts. I've found a Comment in the this blog by Calle Kabo (the page is a little mashed unfortunately) that details a way to do this: $.editable.addInputType("datepicker", { element: function(settings, original) { var input = $("<input type=\"text\" name=\"value\" />"); $(this).append(input); return(input); }, plugin: function(settings, original) { var form = this; $("input", this).filter(":text").datepicker({ onSelect: function(dateText) { $(this).hide(); $(form).trigger("submit"); } }); } }); However, I can't get the above to work - no errors, but no effect either. I've tried placing it within the jQuery document ready function and also outside of it - no joy. My UI Datepicker class is date-picker and my Jeditable class is ajaxedit, I'm sure the above inaction is due to the need to reference them somehow in the code, but I don't know how. Also, the Jeditable control is one of many element ids, if that has a bearing. Any ideas from those more in the know?

• How to convert many-to-one XML data to DataSet?

  I have an XML document that has a collection of objects. Each object has a key/value pair of label and value. I am trying to convert this into a DataSet, but when I do ds.ReadXml(xmlFile), then it creates two columns: label and value.   I'm writing an application that will use plugins. In the plugin I want to include a widget that allows the options for that plugin to be setup. The plugin will also include methods to operate on the data. What is is the best way to include a widget in a plugin? Below is pseudo code for what I've tried to do. My original plan was to make the options widget: class myOptionsWidget(QWidget): “”” create widget for plug in options “”” …. Next I planned on including the widget in my plugin: class myPlugin def __init__(self): self.optionWidget = myOptionsWidget() self.pluginNum = 1 …. def getOptionWidget(self): return(self.optionWidget) Then at the top level I'd do something like a = myPlugin() form = createForm(option=a.getOptionWidget()) … where createForm would create the form and include my plugin options widget. But when I try "a = myPlugin()" I get the error "QWidget: Must construct a QApplication before a QpaintDevice" so this method won't work. I know I would store the widget as a string and call eval on it but I'd rather not do that in case later on I want to convert the program to C++. What is the best way to write a plugin that includes a widget that has the options? Brian

  I'm a fairly experienced programmer getting my head around PHP and Ajax for the first time, and I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to incorperate object oriented PHP into my ajax webapp. I have an admin page (admin.php) that will load and write information (info.xml) from an XML file depending on the users selection of a form on the admin page. I have decided to use an object (ContentManager.php) to manage the loading and writing of the XML file to disk, i.e : class ContentManager{ var $xml_attribute_1 ... function __construct(){ //load the xml file from disk and save its contents into variables $xml_attribute = simplexml_load_file(/path/to/xml) } function get_xml_contents(){ return xml_attribute; } function write_xml($contents_{ } function print_xml(){ } } I create the ContentManager object in admin.php like so <?php include '../includes/CompetitionManager.php'; $cm = new CompetitionManager() ?> <script> ...all my jquery </script> <html> ... all my form elements </html> So now I want to use AJAX to allow the user to retrieve information from the XML file via the ContentManger app using an interface (ajax_handler.php) like so <?php if(_POST[]=="get_a"){ }else if() } ... ?> I understand how this would work if I wasn't using objects, i.e. the hander php file would do a certain action depending on a variable in the .post request, but with my setup, I can't see how I can get a reference to the ContentManager object I have created in admin.php in the ajax_handler.php file? Maybe my understanding of php object scope is flawed. Anyway, if anyone can make sense of what I'm trying to do, I would appreciate some help!

Users so... how can i use the model generated with subsonic ( using the iactiverecord) to implement the record-navigational part.,...???!!! i mean i want a simple form to create, delete or modify records and that is fairy easy but what about to move among records ? i found how to get the first, the last record.. but how can i advance or go back among them??? how can i order the records..? it seems everytime imust query the table.. its so? but how can imove among the records i already got? all of the exmples found are very simple dont touch the matter and/ or are repetitive everywhere so.. please if anybody can help me or give more references... i'd thank you a lot gmo camilo

• Can Django admin handle a one-to-many relationship via related_name?

  The Django admin happily supports many-to-one and many-to-many relationships through an HTML <SELECT> form field, allowing selection of one or many options respectively. There's even a nice Javascript filter_horizontal widget to help. I'm trying to do the same from the one-to-many side through related_name. I don't see how it's much different from many-to-many as far as displaying it in the form is concerned, I just need a multi-select SELECT list. But I cannot simply add the related_name value to my ModelAdmin-derived field list. Does Django support one-to-many fields in this way? My Django model something like this (contrived to simplify the example): class Person(models.Model): ... manager = models.ForeignKey('self', related_name='staff', null=True, blank=True, ) From the Person admin page, I can easily get a <SELECT> list showing all possible staff to choose this person's manager from. I also want to display a multiple-selection <SELECT> list of all the manager's staff. I don't want to use inlines, as I don't want to edit the subordinates details; I do want to be able to add/remove people from the list. (I'm trying to use django-ajax-selects to replace the SELECT widget, but that's by-the-by.)

  I am trying to be able to step through the code of a Hudson plugin called SVNPublisher. I checked out the code for SVNPublisher, used Netbeans to open the project, and clicked "Debug Main project". This results in a Firefox window opening address http://localhost:8080 which shows the Hudson main page.
