  Whenever I view a page with Flash on it (example www.fox.com), if I move my mouse around the page flickers intensely - like siezure inducing flicker. Is this a known issue, and is there a way to fix it?   When my Windows 7 laptop is in its dock and connected to the IOGEAR GCS632U KVM switch the screensaver will not start. If connected directly to the mouse and keyboard while in the dock the screensaver starts normally. The screensaver also works when out of the dock. I need the screensaver to work when connected to the KVM. What's causing the screensaver not to start? Suggestions on how to remedy the problem?

  Hi, I would appreciate some help debugging my windows 2008 profile service. Any domain account that logs on to my 2008 machine gets a +- 20 second waiting time on "user profile service" I am using roaming profiles, they are around 8mb in size, and most folders are already redirected to a network share. event log registers no errors, there is more than 1 network card installed, but I have the correct card listed as "primary" Is there any way to increase verbosity of logging on specifically the "user profile service" ?   I have a VMware image that contains our "standard workstation" where I do a lot of testing. I used a Windows 7 Enterprise MAK key (from MSDN) for activation because the doc said that MAK keys don't have to be reactivated when the hardware changes. Activation was done with slmgr.vbs /ipk LICENSE-KEY slmgr.vbs /ato Now after some testing where the virtual hw was changed it says it "needs to activate because the hw has changed". What did I do wrong?

• Ubuntu/Windows suddenly freezes

  I've a strange problem with my ubuntu 10.04 installation. Whenever i boot into ubuntu the entire system freezes / hangs soon after (~ 2 mins in). This problem exists on my windows 7 installation too. However if i start World of Warcraft or Warcraft on windows it doesnt hang for the duration i'm playing the game. After i stop playing and exit the game my laptop hangs inside 2 mins. Here is when it gets weirder. If i disconnect the charger, the laptop doesn't hang. However when I start it in ubuntu recovery mode and drop to root shell and use the 'startx' command everything works perfectly.   Can anyone please explain this quirk in Windows 7 search (not a big fan of it - preferred XP method or least both). With Outlook, you sometimes have to find and delete your OST file. It resides in the user's profile folder. How come searching the entire C: drive for *.ost files works - they are in c:\Users\rob.nicholson\appdata somewhere but starting the search from c:\Users\rob.nicholson fails to find the files??? • Windows service fails to start with custom user until started once with local user

  All of a sudden my Windows service application after installation does not start. (Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do.) The service uses a custom user. If I change the logon setting to use the local system account, the service starts fine. Then when I go back and change the login setting to use this custom account (local user - custom user under user group), the service will start. Why doesn't it work in the first place?

I've performed a server recovery to reset the installation to factory defaults, with no such luck.
