  • [php, mysql] insert only adds upto 1000 records and ignoresall records after that.

    - by user560559
Hello i have a large database where the client stores personal messages and fire email notifications [if allowed by the users]. certain users have the option of sending messages to their entire network of friends. some users have over 5000 friends in their network so if they select the whole network they'll be sending messages to over 5000 friends and system will store all the messages into a table. the problem is this that it does not insert more than 1000 records and ignores all inserts after the first 1000. i have increased the packet size, bulk_insert_buffer_size but still no luck. since the system stores some of the info in another table for reports, every insert returns its new message id. due to this i can not use the "insert into table (column1,column2) values (value1,value2) , (value1,value2)....etc." table engine is innodb, mysql version is 5.1.3 and is hosted on amazon web services. all i want is to fix this issue of inserting more than 1000 records at a time. as mentioned earlier, it works fine but only up to 1000 records and simply ignores all the records after that. i'm using php foreach(){} to insert message for each friend and if email is available, send notification to the user. this foreach(){} also inserts the same record in another table [with only 3 columns] for generating reports. thank you in advance for all the help and support. WMA.

  • What is the advantage to using a factor of 1024 instead of 1000 for disk size units?

    - by Joe Z.
When considering the disk space of a storage medium, normally the computer or operating system will represent it in terms of powers of 1024 - a kilobyte is 1,024 bytes, a megabyte is 1,048,576 bytes, a gigabyte is 1,073,741,824 bytes, and so on. But I don't see any practical reason why this convention was adopted. Usually when disk size is represented in kilo-, mega-, or giga-bytes, it has to be converted into decimal first. In places where a power-of-two byte count actually matters (like the block size on a file system), the size is given in bytes anyway (e.g. 4096 bytes). Was it just a little aesthetic novelty that computer makers decided to adopt, but storage medium vendors decided to disregard? Whenever you buy a hard drive, there's always a disclaimer nowadays that says "One gigabyte means one billion bytes". It would feel like using the binary definition of "gigabyte" would artificially inflate the byte count of a device, making drive-makers have to pack 1.1 terabytes into a drive in order to have it show up as "1 TB", or to simply pack 1 terabyte in and have it show up as "931 GB" (and most of them do the latter). Some people have decided to use units like "KiB" or "MiB" in favour of "KB" and "MB" in order to distinguish the two. But is there any merit to the binary prefixes in the first place? There's probably a bit of old history I'm not aware of on this topic, and if there is, I'm looking for somebody to explain it. (Apologies if this is in the wrong place. I felt that a question on best practice might belong here, but I have faith that it will be migrated to the right place if it's incorrect.)

  • RAID 6 that can read with least 1000 Mbit/s?

    - by Diblo Dk
I purchased a Dell PERC 6/i which I expected to be able to read with 1000 Mbps. There is not much to do now, but there are some things I wanted knowledge about for another time. I have configured it with four 2 TByte drives and RAID 6. It have 256 MByt ram and transfer rate of 300 Mbps. The benchmark test showed: Min read rate: 136.3 Mbps Max read rate: 329,6 Mbps Avg read rate: 242,2 Mbps What could I had done to get at least 1000 Mbps? Is it normal for internal and external RAID controllers to have a lower transfer rate eg. 300 Mbps? (I did not noticed at the time that it was not 3 Gbps) How would a RAID 10 had performed compared to RAID 6 or 5? Would it have been better to use software RAID (Linux) with the internal 3 Gbps SATA controller? UPDATE: The drives is SATA III 6 Gbps. http://www.seagate.com/files/staticfiles/docs/pdf/datasheet/disc/desktop-hdd-data-sheet-ds1770-1-1212us.pdf (2TB)

  • Query.fetch(limit=2000) only moves cursor forward by 1000 entities?

    - by Liron
Let's say I have 2500 MyModel entities in my datastore, and I run this code: query = MyModel.all() first_batch = query.fetch(2000) len(first_batch) # 2000 next_query = MyModel.all().with_cursor(query.cursor()) next_batch = next_query.fetch(2000) What do you think len(next_batch) is? 500, right? Nope - it's 1500. Apparently the query cursor never moves forward by more than 1000, even when the query itself returns more than 1000 entities. Should I do something different or is it just an App Engine bug?

  • How do i convert from milliseconds to seconds units to be shown in a Label?

    - by Doron Muzar
    I have this code: private void Form1_MouseWheel(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (leave == true) { if (e.Delta > 0) { if (timer1.Interval < 5000) { timer1.Interval += 1000; label2.Text = (timer1.Interval/1000).ToString(); } } else { if (timer1.Interval == 1000) { timer1.Interval -= 100; label2.Text = (timer1.Interval / 1000).ToString(); } } } } The original timer1 interval in the designer is set to 1000 milliseconds. In the mouse wheel event i did that it will show in the label2 the untis in seconds. And indeed when i move the mouse wheel up its slowing the timer and show it in seconds 1 2 3 4 5 The problem is with the second part i wanted that when its getting to 1 second or 1000 milliseconds if i will keep wheel it down it will show the units in 100 and change the timer1.interval in 100 units. So in label2 if it was on 1 second so now i will see 900 800 700 600 500 un till 100. And also the timer1 interval should be change to 900 milliseconds 800 700 600 untill 100. When its get to 100 just stop there dont keep getting under 100. The problem is with this part: if (timer1.Interval == 1000) { timer1.Interval -= 100; label2.Text = (timer1.Interval / 1000).ToString(); } Its not working at all. EDIT** My code now: if (leave == true) { if (e.Delta > 0) { if (timer1.Interval < 5000) { timer1.Interval += 1000; label2.Text = (timer1.Interval / 1000).ToString(); } } else { if (timer1.Interval > 1000) { timer1.Interval -= 1000; label2.Text = (timer1.Interval / 1000).ToString(); } else if (timer1.Interval <= 1000 && timer1.Interval > 100) { timer1.Interval -= 100; label2.Text = (timer1.Interval / (double)1000).ToString(); } } } But now if i was at 5 seconds(5000 milliseconds) now i move the wheel back down its counting 5 4 3 2 1 0 and stop on 0 It dosent show under 1 ...0.9 0.8 0.7 as it did before.

  • Why isn't "(ulimit -d 1000; firefox) &" working?

    - by MaxB
I'm trying to limit the memory usage of firefox to prevent it from stalling the whole system with problematic web sites. I tried, in bash: (ulimit -d 1000; firefox) & This should limit the memory usage to 1000kB. Then I opened YouTube, and noticed, in top, that firefox is using 2.6% of the memory, or about 200MB, and not crashing. Clearly the limit is being ignored. Why is that, and how can I enforce it correctly?

  • Lenovo V570 CPU fan running constantly, CPU core 1 running over 90%!

    - by Rabbit2190
I have seen that a lot of people are having this same issue. I am running a Lenovo V570 i5 4 core, 6 gigs of ram, and am running 11.10 Onieric Ocelot. On my system monitor graph it shows CPU at 20%, when I open the monitor it shows core #1 at around 90%, the other cores fluctuate at or below 5-12% if even. Now this seems like a really terrible balance of power between the cores, especially with so much stress on one core only, when these things are designed to work with 4 cores and not at such high temps. My current readings say 64 degrees Celsius, this does not seem normal for any cpu, and I am seriously considering, working on my windows7 partition until I see a real solution to this issue or upgrading to 12.04 right away when it comes out... I have seen countless things saying it has something to do with the Kernel, the kernel on mine is the same as when I upgraded, I really do not like messing with it, as when I had 11.04, I did tinker with it due to the freeze issues I was having, and that just made worse issues. I like this version 11.10 and would like to keep it for a while, but without the fear that my core is going to fry! So any help would be much appreciated! I did try changing a couple things in ACPI, and restarting this did not help, and here I am. I tried one thing prior to that that was listed under a different computer brand, but it would not do a make on the file. I really need help with this, I rely on this computer for a lot of things, and love this OS! Please help so I do not need to resort to my Microsoft partition! PLEASE! Hi, Could someone please help me to solve unhandled exception error when using visual C++ 2008? the error is displayed as follow: Unhandled exception at 0x00411690 in time.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000008 Actually when I used visual c++ 6 in the past, there weren't any error and the program was running fine. But now ehen I use visual 2008, I am getting this Unhandled exception error. Here is the program: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <time.h> #ifdef _WIN32 // #include <winsock.h> #include <windows.h> #include "stdint.h" // typedef __int64 int64_t // Define it from MSVC's internal type // typedef unsigned __int32 uint32_t #else #include <stdint.h> // Use the C99 official header #include <sys/time.h> #include <unistd.h> #endif #if defined(_MSC_VER) || defined(_MSC_EXTENSIONS) #define DELTA_EPOCH_IN_MICROSECS 11644473600000000Ui64 #else #define DELTA_EPOCH_IN_MICROSECS 11644473600000000ULL #endif struct timezone { int tz_minuteswest; /* minutes W of Greenwich */ int tz_dsttime; /* type of dst correction */ }; #define TEST #ifdef TEST uint32_t stampstart(); uint32_t stampstop(uint32_t start); int main() { uint32_t start, stop; start = stampstart(); /* Your code goes here */ stop = stampstop(start); return 0; } #endif int gettimeofday(struct timeval *tv, struct timezone *tz) { FILETIME ft; unsigned __int64 tmpres = 0; static int tzflag = 0; if (NULL != tv) { GetSystemTimeAsFileTime(&ft); tmpres |= ft.dwHighDateTime; tmpres <<= 32; tmpres |= ft.dwLowDateTime; tmpres /= 10; /*convert into microseconds*/ /*converting file time to unix epoch*/ tmpres -= DELTA_EPOCH_IN_MICROSECS; tv->tv_sec = (long)(tmpres / 1000000UL); tv->tv_usec = (long)(tmpres % 1000000UL); } if (NULL != tz) { if (!tzflag) { _tzset(); tzflag++; } tz->tz_minuteswest = _timezone / 60; tz->tz_dsttime = _daylight; } return 0; } uint32_t stampstart() { struct timeval tv; struct timezone tz; struct tm *tm; uint32_t start; gettimeofday(&tv, &tz); tm = localtime(&tv.tv_sec); printf("TIMESTAMP-START\t %d:%02d:%02d:%d (~%d ms)\n", tm->tm_hour, tm->tm_min, tm->tm_sec, tv.tv_usec, tm->tm_hour * 3600 * 1000 + tm->tm_min * 60 * 1000 + tm->tm_sec * 1000 + tv.tv_usec / 1000); start = tm->tm_hour * 3600 * 1000 + tm->tm_min * 60 * 1000 + tm->tm_sec * 1000 + tv.tv_usec / 1000; return (start); } uint32_t stampstop(uint32_t start) { struct timeval tv; struct timezone tz; struct tm *tm; uint32_t stop; gettimeofday(&tv, &tz); tm = localtime(&tv.tv_sec); stop = tm->tm_hour * 3600 * 1000 + tm->tm_min * 60 * 1000 + tm->tm_sec * 1000 + tv.tv_usec / 1000; printf("TIMESTAMP-END\t %d:%02d:%02d:%d (~%d ms) \n", tm->tm_hour, tm->tm_min, tm->tm_sec, tv.tv_usec, tm->tm_hour * 3600 * 1000 + tm->tm_min * 60 * 1000 + tm->tm_sec * 1000 + tv.tv_usec / 1000); printf("ELAPSED\t %d ms\n", stop - start); return (stop); } thanks for your replies:

  • Auto-mount in fstab no longer working until manually running 'sudo mount -a'

    - by Brett Alton
I have 3 SMB shared drives I need to connect to for work purposes. I had Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick and had all my drives loaded into fstab to be auto-mounted. Everything worked fine for a while but just before I upgraded to 11.04 Natty, the fstab auto-mount stopped working. Unfortunately I don't know what changed I made to my machine or what update installed that made this occur. /etc/fstab {snip} //192.168.7.3/apache_proj/ /home/brett/Desktop/apache smbfs guest,rw,iocharset=utf8,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0 //192.168.7.3/apache_54321/ /home/brett/Desktop/54321 smbfs guest,rw,iocharset=utf8,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0 //freenas.local/shared/ /home/brett/Desktop/shared smbfs guest,rw,iocharset=utf8,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0 //lamp/www/ /home/brett/Desktop/lamp smbfs username={snip},password={snip},rw,iocharset=utf8,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0 When the machine boots, I run this command to get them to mount: $ sudo umount /home/brett/Desktop/54321 /home/brett/Desktop/shared /home/brett/Desktop/apache; sudo mount -a [sudo] password for brett: umount: /home/brett/Desktop/54321: not mounted umount: /home/brett/Desktop/shared: not mounted umount: /home/brett/Desktop/apache: not mounted Warning: mapping 'guest' to 'guest, sec=none' Warning: mapping 'guest' to 'guest, sec=none' Warning: mapping 'guest' to 'guest, sec=none' mount error: could not resolve address for lamp: No address associated with hostname (I run that umount as a just-in-case). I looked through dmesg and some error logs and couldn't see why fstab was failing on my mounts. I see that my 'lamp' directive is failing, but that's because the machine is currently down.

  • MySQL Order By Problem, Why is 1000 being seen as Smaller than 2?

    - by Jack
I have a strange problem, I am trying to order the output of a set of records by a field called displayOrder. Now even though record A has a displayOrder of 2 and record B has a displayOrder of 1000, record B still shows up before record A. Here's my select statement: SELECT * FROM items ORDER BY displayOrder ASC It works fine until I have a record greater than 9, then 10, 11, 12, etc are seen as smaller than 2, 3, 4 because they start with the number 1. Any way to fox this?

  • Compound assignment operators in Python's Numpy library

    - by Leonard
The "vectorizing" of fancy indexing by Python's numpy library sometimes gives unexpected results. For example: import numpy a = numpy.zeros((1000,4), dtype='uint32') b = numpy.zeros((1000,4), dtype='uint32') i = numpy.random.random_integers(0,999,1000) j = numpy.random.random_integers(0,3,1000) a[i,j] += 1 for k in xrange(1000): b[i[k],j[k]] += 1 Gives different results in the arrays 'a' and 'b' (i.e. the appearance of tuple (i,j) appears as 1 in 'a' regardless of repeats, whereas repeats are counted in 'b'). This is easily verified as follows: numpy.sum(a) 883 numpy.sum(b) 1000 It is also notable that the fancy indexing version is almost two orders of magnitude faster than the for loop. My question is: "Is there an efficient way for numpy to compute the repeat counts as implemented using the for loop in the provided example?"

  • How should I host a site that could potentially get a short spike in traffic of 1000%+

    - by James Simpson
This is a purely theoretical question, but what if I had a site that would normally only get a couple thousand hits a day, but for a few days each month that could shoot to several hundred thousand or even several million hits over the period of 1-3 days. The site would be pretty bare-bones (as in, 2-3 total pages with 1-2 max MySQL queries on each page and some PHP), so bandwidth wouldn't be the issue, but sheer volume taking down the site would be the main concern. Cloud hosting seems like the best way to go, but would something like Amazon EC2, MediaTemple, or something else be the right choice in this case?

  • 1000 HZ linux kernel necessary if I have tickless and high resolution timer?

    - by Bob
I am trying to improve performance on my server. I have a few processes that need low jitter (less than 10ms variance). I have a load average of 4 maximum on an i7-920 (4 physical cores, 8 with HT). There are about 10 processes ranging from 40% to 90% of a core user mode. System usage is 3% total. Total CPU usage is 80% max. Will setting the kernel from 100hz to 1000hz improve the jitter if tickless and high resolution timers are already set? This page seems to indicate it still does something. https://lkml.org/lkml/2009/4/28/401 How about changing from voluntary (PREEMPT_VOLUNTARY) to preemptible (PREEMPT)?

  • Intel PRO/1000 Server NIC on Windows latency. How to measure?

    - by Bobb
Please note - this question is about latency of the card itself. Not latency of internet or anything else. Thank you for your attention on this matter. It is often said that good server NIC does make difference compared to low grade cards and on-board Ethernet chips. I understand that on-board chip will likely consume CPU time and stand-alone card would use its own chip. Also server card would be faster than low-grade card. Are these 2 facts explaining most of the server cards advantages over on-board and low-grade cards ethernet? How would you measure latency on the card itself? I saw some reports stating some microseconds figures of NIC latency but I dont see how to measure that... Any advise will be appreciated.

  • "Empty" Outlook 2010 address book (despite having over 1,000 contacts)

    - by Austin ''Danger'' Powers
I am in the process of migrating our users to Office 365. After adding the Exchange Online account for a user in their Outlook 2010 client (and importing their old emails), I then copy their contacts from their old address book into the new one. For some users, this works perfectly - all their original contacts immediately appear in their Office 365 address book as expected. Unfortunately, many of our users see their contacts only when looking in the "Contacts" tab. They get the message: "Your search yielded no results" when drilling down to their Office 365 contact list in the Address Book window. I have been able to reproduce this problem on multiple PCs and cannot see what sets them apart from the ones which work properly. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

  • HP MSA 1000 SAN: Can I use 1 array/shelf?

    - by CC
Hi all, I'm planning some expansion on an HP MSA1000 SAN. My boss says that we need to have two separate arrays on the new enclosure, one for Bays 1-7, the other for Bays 8-14. Is there any reason that we need to do this? My plan was to have the entire expansion shelf be 1 array, then create RAID 6 logical drives from that. I don't understand what splitting drives into separate arrays gain us. We don't have dual controllers, so there's no benefit there. Thanks, CC

  • Entity Framework 4 - Handling very large (1000+ tables) data models?

    - by David Kreps
We've got a database with over 1000+ tables and would like to consider using EF4 for our data access layer, but I'm concerned about the practical realities of using it for such a large data model. I've seen this question and read about the suggested solutions here and here. These may work, but appear to refer to the first version of the Entity Framework (and are more complex than I'd like). Does anyone know if these solutions have been improved upon in EF4? Or have other suggestions all together? Thanks.

  • How Do I Rollout WP-Cache To 1000 WordPress Blogs?

    - by Volomike
My client has 1000 WordPress blogs hosted on a server for customers. Each one is in its own domain through cpanel and SuPHP, running in CGI mode on Apache2.2. Now he wants me (I'm the PHP programmer) to get WP-Cache loaded out on each of these blogs and not just activated, but enabled. He also wants the timeout value set to 2 days instead of the default setting. I have root on LAMP. What is the preferred way to roll out an update to each blog such that on a page view, it sees if WP-Cache is enabled or not. If not, it needs to copy it out from a central source, activate it, and then enable it along with the different timeout value being used.
