• jQuery-ui tabs: interference between tabs

  I use the jQuery-ui tabs widget as a navigation. Contents of all tabs are load via ajax. Seems that there is interference between tabs. I mean, for example, if in page1 in tab1, there is an element whose ID is foo, and in page2 in tab2, there is an element with the same ID. And in both page, there is javascript code to manipulate the element with ID foo, then weird things will happen. How to deal with this situation?

• Remove In-App Purchase from free app and increase the price

  The current version of an application in the App Store is free and has very limited functionality. An In-App Purchase unlocks everything else. I have decided to remove the In-App Purchase and just make the application cost the same price as the In-App Purchase did. But if I make the update now, then those users who have the free version but who have not yet paid for the In-App Purchase will get a free update into the full version. I have removed all traces of my singleton class, PurchaseManager, from the application, so that at this point, when I build/run it, all of the features are unlocked. At this point, how can I make sure that the free-version users don't just ride an update into the full version? Maybe there's a way to test whether the app is obtained through an update or through a purchase? That way, if it's through an update, I will see if it's the free version w/o the IAP and then force the user to purchase the IAP to continue playing. Any ideas?

• Loading JSON-encoded AJAX content into jQuery UI tabs

  We want our of our AJAX calls in our web app to receive JSON-encoded content. In most places this is already done (e.g. in modals) and works fine. However, when using jQueryUI's tabs (http://jqueryui.com/demos/tabs/) and their ajax functionality, only plaintext HTML can be returned (i.e. from the URLs specified in the a tags below). • question about combining jquery tabs and a toggling horizontal slide panel

  Hi, I'm attempting to combine a horizontally sliding panel and the ui tabs plugin. The idea is that you press a button, a panel slides open and inside is a series of tabs that expand content below. I get that this is happening because there's not a separate function hiding the expanded tab. So my question is, how can I make it so that when the button to collapse the panel (".btn-slide") is toggled it first hides any currently expanded tabs and then hides the open panel. Thanks so much!

  Hi, this may be a weird problem but I’m not sure the best way to go about it.. I am using JQuery ajax tabs. The tab section is dynamic so multiple tabs can be added, as the content is loaded via Ajax the same content can be loaded into different tabs. The other important detail is that i am using the Cache option so the tabs maintain state. Now problems arise when more than one tab has been loaded. It looks like HTML items such as forms and divs now have duplicated id's within the DOM, so Ajax queries can no longer distinguish between the elements.. The result is that any JavaScript/Ajax breaks. Does anyone have any suggestions for way to tackle such a problem? Thanks in advance..

  My issue is simple. I have already implemented a tab system, and I'd probably spend more time implementing another one with the solution I need, than giving a shot at adapting the code I have, and learn something while asking :) My problem is that the tabs can't be linked to, I need to be able to link to a tab from another website or page, and have that tab get selected upon page load. ie: I have three tabs showing different products, by default tab 1 is active/selected when the page loads. From the home page I want to link to tab 2 but I can't link to tab 2 because it doesn't get selected. Not sure if that makes sense.   What is the best way to replace the currently selected tab and its contents? The content is dynamically generated with jquery, not loaded via a URL. I need to do this from outside of any tab code or tab event handler (show, add, etc.). There is a link elsewhere on the page that should do the following when clicked: Change the tab's title Change the tab's className Clear out all elements of the tabcontent div Change the tabcontent div's className Generate new content inside the tabcontent div Note that the only reference this link's click() handler has is to the JQuery tabs object ($Tabs). I can get the selected tab with $Tabs.tabs('option','selected'). But how can I get a reference to the selected tab's tab and panel? Inside of a jquery tab handler (show, add, etc.), I have access to ui.tab and ui.panel, but is there a way to get them from a tabs option? Would it be better to simply remove the currently selected tab and then add a new tab in the same index location? I'd have to put the code to generate the tab content into the add() handler then I suppose.

• Jquery click function does not load ajax tabs

  I have some tabs that load ajax content. When I click on the tabs it loads the ajax content perfectly no issues works exactly like it does in the Jqueryui demos. But when I try and change tab using an onclick function it opens the tab but doesn't do the ajax. Is this a known issue can it be done?? For example if I want to search "hello", a new window pops out (even if a Firefox window is already open) and then launches a Google and Bing tabs searching for "hello". Like so: 1:<file1.txt> 2:<file2.txt> 3:<2 file3a.txt> The formatting (the angle braces in particular) are optional; I just want the index to appear there (the 1:, 2: and so on). No clues on :h tab-page-commands or google whatsoever.

  If you're a Firefox user you know that if you have 10 tabs open and say you're in the tab #5. If you open a new tab which will become #11 in order and search something, after you finish and close this #11 tab Firefox will direct you the the last active tab you were in which is #5. Using Vimperator You won't get the similar effect. In the same scenario, while you're in tab #5 you can go t and search for something which will lead to opening a tab at #11. Now you press d and where you are now ? #10 and you need to ctrl+p all the way back to #5. So in this case I am looking for one of these solutions. to be able to open a tab straight after the current tab (which closing it will capital D will put me back to my active tab) a way to close a tab and being brought back to the last active tab that I worked on. Will appreciate it if somebody got a solution for this. thanks

  I like to use the Ctrl or Alt + Number shorcut to jump quickly to a specific tab. Problem is: When you have a lot of tabs open it is hard to look at them and quickly know which one is tab number 7. Is there a way (extension possibly) to show a tab's number in its title? This way each tab would have a number added to its title right beside the favicon. This way you could immediately tell which number you need to press to jump to a specific tab. I use both Chromium and Firefox, so I'm accepting answers for either one (though I'd prefer both =) ).

• Firefox: tabs containing a single image sometimes show generic icon instead of thumbnail

  My version of Firefox is 3.5.9, but I've had this issue since single-image tabs started showing a thumbnail of the contained image. Typically, a tab containing a single image will use a thumbnail of the image as the icon before the tab title. Sometimes, though, this icon will be the generic “shaded sphere on blank page” (or perhaps whatever your theme defaults to). I'm guessing this happens whenever height or width is larger than 1024, but I seem to recall (perhaps erroneously) exceptions to this rule. Anyway, hopefully someone will know the definite answer to: Why does this happen? • Firefox: getting access to the list of tabs/windows to restore on startup

  Sometimes Firefox fails to restore the previously open tabs/windows. This might be happening when some of the URLs to be opened are no longer reachable (e.g. behind a VPN) or after the underlying OS (Windows) has been forcibly restarted (e.g. to complete an automated patch installation). Anyway, after restarting, can this list of URLs be recovered somehow? Say for example, I was daft enough to have clicked on "start new session". Can I still get access to the old list of open URLs? There is the browser history of course, but it contains a lot of stuff - the URLs that were open when Firefox last exited are not obvious. It would be neat if they were marked in some way - tagged for example.

  I use mainly PHP for web development, but recently, I started thinking about using Google App Engine. It doesn't use PHP which I am already familiar with, so there will be a steeper learning curve. Probably using Python/Django. But I think it maybe worthwhile. Some advantages I see: Focus on App/Development. No need to setup/maintain server ... no more server configs Scales automatically Pay for what you use. Free for low usage Reliable, it's Google after all Some concerns though: Does database with no joins pose a problem for those who used App Engine before? Do I have to upload to Google just to test? Will it be slow compared to testing locally? What are your thoughts and opinions? Why would you use or not use App Engine?

  I have a web app thats been in active development for about 8 months now and its becoming apparent that the project has a need to maintain a separation between app specific code and our OO Javascript API. What I would like to do is have another repository with the following general structure of the js API code. repo_name | +---build | +---build_tools | +---doc | +---src | +---js Of course this structure is different from the original web app directory structure. If I make changes to this new repository how could I pull in those changes to the web app repository without unintentionally removing files or modifying the directory structure of the web app repository?

• Ubuntu App Submission won't allow the "free" bubble to be checked

  I am at the final stages of the Ubuntu App Developer Showdown, and I'm right at the point where I am submitting my app. The problem I run in to however, is that even though buy is at $0.00, it will not allow me to click on the "free" button, and keep that configuration saved. So when I go to "preview your app", it shows it saying "USD $0.00 ---- Buy" instead of saying "Free ---- Install". So I was wondering if it makes any difference or not.
