  • Webhosting with custom database choice [closed]

    - by churchill614
Possible Duplicate: How to find web hosting that meets my requirements? I am trying to find somewhere to host a website which uses OrientDB as its database. My budget doesn't stretch to a dedicated server where I can configure everything as I need it. Rather, I am hoping to find somewhere, ideally UK based, that will allow me to install/install for me OrientDB on their server, that is of the normal shared server variety. Is anybody able to point me in a good direction for this please (whilst UK is preferable it is not essential)?

  • How to select text, but not images, in CSS

    - by thinkswan
    Simple question: I have the following markup... <a href='#'> <img src='icon.png'> This is the link </a> I want to have the text become underlined on mouseover. What is the CSS selector for selecting only the text in that <a> element and nothing else? I'd rather not wrap it in anything if I don't have to. a:hover { text-decoration: none; } a:hover <select_text_here> { text-decoration: underline; }

  • Selector and Iterating Through a Table Within a Div

    - by GregH
I have been working on this and cannot get this iterator to work. I have the following HTML and am trying to iterate through all rows (except the first row) and extract the values in cells (td) 2 and 3 : <div id="statsId"> <table width="220" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0"> <tbody> <tr> <td width="65"/> <td width="90"/> <td width="65"/> </tr> <tr style="font-weight: bold;"> <td align="left">$1.00</td> <td> <a href="#">UserID1</a> </td> <td>Single</td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">$6.99</td> <td> <a href="#">UserID2</a> </td> <td>Multiple</td> </tr> <tr>... .....(snip) I tried the following iterator to iterate through all except the first row of the table that is a child of "div#statsID" and get the values of the 2nd and 3rd cells (in the example, the first extracted cells would have values of "UserID1" and "Single"), but it doesn't work. $('div#statsId > table tr:not(:nth-child(1))').each(function(i, ele) { var secondCol = $('td:nth-child(2)', ele).innerHTML var thirdCol= $('td:nth-child(3)', ele).text() ..... }); Any suggestions on how to specify and iterate through the rows (except the first) of a table that is a child of a div would be appreciated.

    - by Stefan
Assuming i have: <li id="1">Mary</li> <li id="2">John, Mary, Dave</li> <li id="3">John, Dave, Mary</li> <li id="4">John</li> If i need to find all <li> Elements which contain "John" and "Mary", how would i construct the jQuery? • How to create a css rule for all elements except one class?!

    - by Nick
Hi, I have created a CSS stylesheet for my project. Is there any way I can create a css rule that applies to all table elements EXCEPT table elements belonging to the class "dojoxGrid"? Something like: .not(dojoxGrid) table{ width:100%; border-top:1px solid #dddddd; border-left:1px solid #dddddd; border-right:1px solid #dddddd; margin:1em auto; border-collapse:collapse; } Thanks in advance!

  • $().mouseMove <-- Empty selector in jQuery 1.4

    - by Matrym
The following bit of code breaks in the upgrade to jquery 1.4: $().mousemove( function (e) { defaults.mouseX = e.pageX; defaults.mouseY = e.pageY; }); }; What appeared to be a reasonable fix was adding "html" as the selector, ex: $("html"). The fix works fine - except now when the user mouses off the page, it doesn't register the mouse position beyond the boundaries. When attempting to use the mouse position for a drag, for example, the amount of movement beyond the screen is really important. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • JQuery: Selector that contains some text, but doesn't contain others

    - by BPotocki
Sorry if this question is mind numbingly easy to answer, but I'm a bit new to JQuery and I have a tight deadline. I am looking for a selector for textbox elements that have this format: id = "FixedName_#" "FixedName" will always be "FixedName", but I only want to find elements where the # is positive. So I would want to find "FixedName_1", and "FixedName_2" for example, but skip over "FixedName_-1" and "FixedName_-2". Thanks!

  • How to get jQuery to find the first list-item, rather than all list-items?

    - by ricebowl
I'm trying to implement a basic jQuery infinite carousel. As much for the learning process as for anything else (as a rule I'm not a fan of re-inventing wheels, but...I have to learn somehow, might as well start with the basics). I've managed to get the list to animate left happily enough, but I'm stuck when it comes to selecting the first element of the list. I've tried to use: $('ul#services > li:first'); $('ul#services > li:first-child'); $('ul#services > li').eq([0]); (xhtml below), In each case a console.log(first) (the var name used) returns all of the list-items. Am I doing something blatantly, and obviously, wrong? The eventual plan is to clone the first li, append it to the parent ul, remove the li from the list and allow the list to scroll infinitely. It's just a list of services rather than links so I'm not -at the moment- planning to have scroll or left/right functionality. Current xhtml: <div class="wrapper"> <ul id="services"> <!-- closing the `</li>` tags on the following line is to remove whitespace in the horizontal list, doesn't seem to make a difference to the jQuery from my own testing. --> <li>one</li ><li>two</li ><li>three</li ><li>four</li ><li>five</li ><li>six</li ><li>seven</li ><li>eight</li ><li>nine</li ><li>ten</li> </ul> </div>

  • jquery select one class from many

    - by simnom
    Hi, I'm trying to achieve the following functionality. Within a form I have multiple fields with the class name .inputField if one of these fields is selected then the div associated with that element should be shown on focus and hidden on blur. However, when I implement the code below on selecting the second element the class is applied to both. Not sure where I'm going wrong?!?!? html markup: <form class="friendlyForm" name="friendlyForm" id="friendlyForm"> <ul> <li> <label for="testField">Test field</label> <input name="testField" value="here" class="inputField" id="testField" /> <div class="helper" style="display: none;">helper text here</div> </li> <li> <label for="testField">Test field2</label> <input name="testField2" value="here" class="inputField" id="testField2" /> <div class="helper" style="display: none;">helper text here</div> </li> </ul> </form> jQuery markup: $('.friendlyForm').find('.inputField').each(function(i) { $(this).blur(); $(this).focus(function() { //Add the focus class and fadeIn the helper div $(this).parent().addClass('focus'); $(this).parent().parent().find('.helper').fadeIn(); }); $(this).blur(function () { //Remove the focus class and fadeOut helper div $(this).parent().removeClass('focus'); $(this).parent().parent().find('.helper').fadeOut(); }); }); Any pointers here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • Is there a selector or a work around to select any element with no children.

    - by rnaud
Looking at the CSS3 specs, I can't find any way to select any element that has no children. Let me explain. <body> <h1>Main Page</h1> <div id="main"> <div class="post"> <h2>Article 1</h1> <p>some text</p> </div> <div class="post"> <h2>Article 2</h1> <p>some text</p> </div> </div> </body> I'm looking for a CSS syntax to select the h1, the two h2 and the two p. A way to select in any page, all elements with no children. Any suggestion ? Sorry, I forgot to add the "empty" part, I am actually already using the *:empty selector, but it's not working for any tag that has a nodeText as a child. So it's working for any input, image, object, but not for h2, h1, or any p.

  • hardy alternate cd customization and ubuntu-keyring-udeb

    - by gokul
I have been trying to customize Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy heron) alternate install cd. I have followed the community documentation at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InstallCDCustomization#Generating_a_new_ubuntu-keyring_.deb_to_sign_your_CD to rebuild the ubuntu-keyring packages. But when the media boots I get a warning: anna[7581]: WARNING **: bad md5sum. Though I have not been able to confirm that the message is for the ubunu-keyring-udeb package, the nearest debconf Adding [package] message is for ubuntu-keyring-udeb. This is followed by: INPUT critical retriever/cdrom/error. This message is already from syslog. I don't think dpkg.log will help in this case. I have tried modifying the md5sum file within the source package manually and signing it with my own public key, before building it. But that has not helped either. How do get the installer to work in this scenario? Alternatively, can I customize the contents of Ubuntu8.04 without signing anything?

  • Use CSS selectors to collect HTML elements from a streaming parser (e.g. SAX stream)

    - by Jakub Narebski
How to parse CSS (CSS3) selector and use it (in jQuery-like way) to collect HTML elements not from DOM (from tree structure), but from stream (e.g. SAX), i.e. using sequential access parser? Are there CSS selectors that need access to DOM (Wikipedia SAX page says that XPath selectors "need to be able to access any node at any time in the parsed XML tree")? I am most inetersted in implementing selector combinators, e.g. 'A B' descendant selector. I prefer solutions describing algorithm, or in Perl.

  • JQuery selectors select from an html object other than from document root?

    - by orangebrainer
jQuery selectors select from the document. How do I select from somewhere else other than root? Say I want to select some children from an html object. For this function dothis(obj) { $j("#tabs").removeClass(); $j("#tabs>ul").removeClass(); $j("#tabs>ul>li>a").each(function() { var tabNum = $j(this).attr("href").replace("#", ""); var tabContent = $j("div[id=" + tabNum + "]"); tabContent.removeClass(); $(tabContent).before("<br><h1>" +$j(this).text() + "</h1>\n" ); }); $j("#tabs>ul").each(function() { $j(this).empty();//remove Ul links on top }); } I want to reference the selectors from an html Object (obj) i passed into as argument, instead of selecting from document. Sorry I'm pretty new to jQuery.

  • Executing Custom Actions immediately in WIX

    - by jbloomer
Is there any way to execute a custom action in WIX as soon as the first dialog (welcome) appears? The requirement is to check prerequisites, and some of those require a custom action. The custom action could be executed as we click to the next dialog, but then the standard WIX prereqs are determined apart from our custom prereq. (The custom action we need is to check that IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility is turned on and a registry search does not work on x64 machines with a 32-bit installer)

Unfortunately the this tweet control has no idea about this main application (both or in their own namespaces) How can i send messages from this custom control to the main application?

  • jQuery - discrepency between classname and selectors

    - by Ciel
I have the following code that I wrote, which I personally found to be pretty nice. It takes a <ul> and it drops down the contents when clicked. But I am having a disconnect here in comprehension, and one I had to do what I feel is a 'dirty hack' to solve. The problem is that I do not want the class `'sidebar-dropdown-open' to be so 'hardwired' in the plugin. However I discovered that there is a very stark difference between... $('.sidebar-dropdown-open') and 'sidebar-dropdown-open and even '.sidebar-dropdown-open. I 'solved' this problem by including two different 'parameters' in my plugin, but I was wondering if someone might give me some insight as to how I could perform this better, and why this was behaving this way. wiring (document load) $(document).ready(function () { $('[data-role="sidebar-dropdown"]').drawer({ open: 'sidebar-dropdown-open', css: '.sidebar-dropdown-open' }); }); html <ul> <li class=" dropdown" data-role="sidebar-dropdown"> <a href="pages/.." class="remote">Link Text</a> <ul class="sub-menu light sidebar-dropdown-menu"> <li><a class="remote" href="pages/...">Link Text</a></li> <li><a class="remote" href="pages/...">Link Text</a></li> <li><a class="remote" href="pages/...">Link Text</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> javascript (function ($) { $.fn.drawer = function (options) { // Create some defaults, extending them with any options that were provided var settings = $.extend({ open: 'open', css: '.open' }, options); return this.each(function () { $(this).on('click', function (e) { // slide up all open dropdown menus $(settings.css).not($(this)).each(function () { $(this).removeClass(settings.open); // retrieve the appropriate menu item var $menu = $(this).children(".dropdown-menu, .sidebar-dropdown-menu"); // slide down the one clicked on. $menu.slideUp('fast'); $menu.removeClass('active'); }); // mark this menu as open $(this).addClass(settings.open); // retrieve the appropriate menu item var $menu = $(this).children(".dropdown-menu, .sidebar-dropdown-menu"); // slide down the one clicked on. $menu.slideDown(100); $menu.addClass('active'); e.preventDefault(); e.stopPropagation(); }).on("mouseleave", function () { $(this).children(".dropdown-menu").hide().delay(300); }); }) }; })(jQuery); I have tried using settings.open and demanding that it just be a className (.open), etc. - but that does not seem to work. It seems to get ignored by the removeClass function.

  • Removing unused selectors in a CSS stylesheet?

    - by Legend
I've been developing a web app for a few weeks now and ended up with about a 1000 lines. I am sure not all the selectors are being used and am trying to clean it up. At the same time, I don't want to do it manually for obvious reasons. Is there a safe and an efficient way to remove unused selectors? For this, am I supposed to navigate the entire website to let it know which selectors are not being used? (I use javascript to add some selectors so these might not show up until a particular usecase is seen)

  • HTML converted to jQuery collection not searchable with selectors?

    - by jimp
I am trying to dynamically load a page using $.get(), parse the return with var $content = $(data), and ultimately use selectors to find only certain parts of the document. Only I cannot figure out why the jQuery collection returned from $(data) does not find some very basic selectors. I set up a jsFiddle to illustrate the problem using a very small string of HTML. <html> <head> <title>See Our Events</title> </head> <body><div id="content">testing</div></body> </html> I want to find the <title> node. var html = "<html>\n"+ "<head>\n"+ " <title>See Our Events</title>\n"+ "</head>\n"+ "<body><div id=\"content\">testing</div></body>\n"+ "</html>"; var $content = $(html); console.log($content.find('title').length); // Logs 0. Why? If I wrap a <div> around the HTML, then the selector works. (But if you look at the jsFiddle, other variations of the selector still do not work!) var html = "<div><html>\n"+ "<head>\n"+ " <title>See Our Events</title>\n"+ "</head>\n"+ "<body><div id=\"content\">testing</div></body>\n"+ "</html></div>"; var $content = $(html); console.log($content.find('title').length); // Logs 1. Please look at the jsFiddle, too. It contains more examples than my code here to keep the post easier to read. Why does my otherwise very basic selector not return the title node?

  • Custom PCI bracket with support, for custom PCB?

    - by newbiez
I am considering to put a custom PCB card that I made, into my computer. It won't go on any PCI connector, it plugs in on a USB connector on the motherboard, via a ribbon cable. I need thou to plug a device to it; which means that either I leave the PCB outside the case, hanging by the ribbon (bad idea), or I could put it in a PCI slot, using a bracket. The issue is that the brackets that I have, do not have tabs, so I have no way to screw the PCB on them. I was hoping to find something that would allow me to put the PCB on it, and then just fit it in the PCI bracket opening, like this: http://www.idotpc.com/TheStore/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=1203&idcategory=0 This one won't fit the bill since the holes are too close apart, compared to the one that I have already on the PCB (and can't make more holes). Do you know if there is a place where they make universal PCI bracket mounting systems for custom PCB? I just need one, so can't even order a custom one (they ask me 120 dollars for one). Thanks in advance!
