  • Why a thread is aborted in ASP.NET MVC (again)?

    Here is what I do in a controller action: create and start a new Thread that does a relatively long processing task (~30 seconds on average, but might be several minutes) immediately return the page response so the user knows processing has started (trivially, a Json with a task ID for polling purposes). At some random point, ThreadAbortException is thrown, so the async task does not complete. The exception is not thrown every time, it just happens randomly roughly 25% of the times. Points to note: I'm not calling Response.End or Response.Redirect - there isn't even a request running when the exception is thrown I tried using ThreadPool and I got the same behavior I know running threads in ASP.NET has several caveats but I don't care right now Any suggestion?

    I comunicate with a serial device via bluetooth. i send it pid and it responds to me with a data response. i comunicate with him with serial comunicatione one request-response. i want to measure how many response i receive in one second. i think that i have to know the moment when i do the request and the moment whene i receive the response and do the difference. The result(called delta) is the time-to response of device. in the end i have to do 1000ms/delta. how can calculate it ?

I downloaded the package and it contained a setup.py file. I ran: python setup.py install and then: Python was built with Visual Studio 2003; blablabla use MinGW32 Then I installed MinGW32 and now the compilation doesn't work. The end of the compilation errors contains: ssl/_ssl2.c:1561: error: `CRYPTO_LOCK' undeclared (first use in this function) error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1 What should I do?

I was reading a perfmon tutorial and from this list of essential counters I have found the following ones on my machine: PhysicalDisk\Bytes/sec_Total Network Interface\Bytes Total/Sec\nic name But I haven't found the following counters nowhere: Processor\% Processor Time_Total Process\Working Set_Total Memory\Available MBytes Where do I find them? Note that my Windows is pt-BR (instead of en-US). Where do I find language specific documentation for windows tools like PerfMon?

    The question is entitled with the word "Stream" because the question below is a concrete example of a more generic doubt I have about Streams: I have a problem that accepts two solutions and I want to know the best one: I download a file, save it to disk (2 min), read it and write the contents to the DB (+ 2 min). I download a file and write the contents directly to the DB (3 min). If the write to DB fails I'll have to download again in the second case, but not in the first case. Which is best? Between Matricula and Turma they makes inner, but between Turma and Curso they makes left outer. What's problem? What's wrong?

    Recently I developed a performance tester console application, with no UI, with the help of a IoC containter (Castle-Windsor-Microkernel). This library enabled me to let the user choose which test(s) to run, simply by changing the configuration file. Have I realized what IoC containers are about? I'm not sure. Even Joel said here on SO that IoC are difficult to understand. From my example, what do you conclude? Am I using IoC container for exactly what they were designed for?
