  • How to test the performance of a user's PC in/for Flash?

    Hey, I'm a developer on nice space MMO using Flash. On new PCs performance is quite good, but some features shouldn't be enabled on older PCs because the framerate drops to shit if we do. Flash wasn't made for this, but hey, pushing boundaries is fun. An example is fullscreen mode. Of course every user can manually enable it, but "advertising" it to a user with and oldie PC would be a bad idea - but for the Alienware crowd it would be dumb not to. So I want to find out how "capable" a user's PC is to decide if I should enable or disable some features for him. Any ideas? Thanks, Sujan

    Hi, i came accross with a peculiar issue on my mobile site. some phones/gateways sends form post data as url encoded and a text such as "hey how are you?" in a form with method post stored in the db as "hey+how+are+you%3f" This is not the issue with many browsers but one single network from USA called Metro. I notice different phone models acting same way so i assue this is an issue with proxy/gateway. would simply putting _msg = HttpUtility.UrlDecode(_msg); solve my problem? any other suggestions?     Hey people! I guess you people know more about this, than the ServerFault-Peps - If I'm wrong please correct me! Maybe you experienced it with the Oracle-Databasesystem too that it could use a hell of processorcapacity but it just takes something arround 10% so the processor is bored and your procedures are as fast as a snail in the desert. Do you know any way to say to the system something like: "Hey! You got a lot of power little database-jedi, so use it!" Thanks for your time and burned out braincells to answer this one!     Sample jquery. Assume $cog is a cached selector of multiple items. $cog.fadeOut('slow',function(){ alert('hey'); }) In that example, of $cog is a jQuery object of 4 DOM elements, the above will fade each element out one by one, and trigger an alert each time on the callback (4 alerts). I'd like to only call the alert when all 4 elements are done with their fadeOut function. This: $cog.fadeOut('slow',function(){ }) alert('hey'); when run, will show an alert, then the $cog elements disappear (I'm guessing due to timing issues with the fadeOut animation) Is there a way when calling a function against multiple DOM objects in a jQuery object to know when it's done with the last item?
