    Does anyone have any tutorials in playing videos in javafx applications in mobile? My codes strangely work only in desktop execution. But the official site of JavaFX says it plays in mobile phones. I used their sample code and guess what, it doesn't play on the mobile phone too.     This weekend I wanted to learn JavaFX, so I decided to code an idea I had a few years ago when I first saw JavaFX Script. So I started coding a web browser that runs HTML with the awesome, HTML5 supported WebView. But this browser also offers one extra feature: it loads FXML files as if they were HTML. So instead of defining your web page with HTML and running with WebKit, you can define a web page with FXML+CSS+JS and run as a JavaFX application. The project is called WebFX and already has a prototype on GitHub. I also uploaded a video on YouTube demonstrating the idea. What do you think about using JavaFX in the future for web pages, instead of HTML?

    JavaFX 2.1.1 released on June 12, and few documents were updated on the docs.oracle.com/javafx website. Besides a new set of release documentation, the Concurrency in JavaFX article was updated with a discussion of how to cancel a task, with a code sample to illustrate that. A new section describes the WorkerStateEvent class and how to use the convenience methods such as cancelled, failed, running, scheduled, and succeeded, which are invoked when the Worker implementation state changes. Other documents were updated to reflect minor bug fixes, many of them contributed by JavaFX readers using the feedback alias in the sidebar of all of our documentation. Yes, we do respond and pay attention to what you say and at least try to point you in the right direction if we can't solve a problem you're having with a tutorial. We appreciate your feedback!

    JavaFX 2.2 has a "snapshot" feature that enables you to take a picture of any node or scene. Take a look at the API Documentation and you will find new snapshot methods in the javafx.scene.Scene class. The most basic version has the following signature: public WritableImage snapshot(WritableImage image) The WritableImage class (also introduced in JavaFX 2.2) lives in the javafx.scene.image package, and represents a custom graphical image that is constructed from pixels supplied by the application. In fact, there are 5 new classes in javafx.scene.image: PixelFormat: Defines the layout of data for a pixel of a given format. WritablePixelFormat: Represents a pixel format that can store full colors and so can be used as a destination format to write pixel data from an arbitrary image. PixelReader: Defines methods for retrieving the pixel data from an Image or other surface containing pixels. PixelWriter: Defines methods for writing the pixel data of a WritableImage or other surface containing writable pixels. WritableImage: Represents a custom graphical image that is constructed from pixels supplied by the application, and possibly from PixelReader objects from any number of sources, including images read from a file or URL.     I have some polygon in jts topology library. if I want to draw on javafx pane I do: Polygon poly=new Polygon();//javafx //g is geometry of jts for (Coordinate coord : g.getCoordinates()) { poly.getPoints().addAll(coord.x, coord.y); } and got extra four edges that are not expected: but the same data look good in test builder: what is wrong? order of traversing the geometry? any ideas?

    Hello, I was wondering if there is an easy way to convert the javafx.util.Properties object to a java.util.HashMap. There is the obvious way of getting each value from the Properties object and putting it in a Map. But with a large number of properties it seems like there should be a way of just getting the Map that backs javafx.util.Properties (if it is a Map). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  • Comments syntax for Idoc Script

    Maybe this is widely known and I'm late to the party, but I just ran across the syntax for making comments in Idoc Script. It's been something I've been hoping to see for a long time. And it looks like it quietly snuck into the 10gR3 release. So for comments in Idoc Script, you simply [[% surround your comments in these symbols. %]] They can be on the same line or span multiple lines. If you look in the documentation, it still mentions making comments using the syntax. Well, that's certainly not an ideal approach. You're stuffing your comment into an actual variable, it's taking up memory, and you have to watch double-quotes in your comment. A perhaps better way in the old method is to start with my comments . Still not great, but now you're not assigning something to a variable and worrying about quotes. Unfortunately, this syntax only works in places that use the Idoc format. It can't be used in Idoc files that get indexed (.hcsp & .hcsf) and use the <!--$...--> format. For those, you'll need to continue using the older methods. While on the topic, I thought I would highlight a great plug-in to Notepad++ that Arnoud Koot here at Oracle wrote for Idoc Script. It does script highlighting as well as type-ahead/auto-completion for common variables, functions, and services. For some reason, I can never seem to remember if it's DOC_INFO_LATESTRELEASE or DOC_INFO_LATEST_RELEASE, so this certainly comes in handy. I've updated his plug-in to use this new comments syntax.   • JavaFX Datagrid

    Hi All. Im in the verge of starting a new RIA development. We've been using Flex/Flash for the last 2 years but we were considering using a more OS approach so we though giving JavaFX a try since it seams the only solid option available. However after a couple of days of research we found out that there is not such thing as a datagrid for it, at least not in the core API. For those unfamiliar with Flex, a Datagrid is a component that allows you to display a collection of data in column-row layout (much like a HTML Table on steroids). The beauty of it is that you only need to worry about the data itself as the component does pretty much the rest (sorting, column dragging, etc). Im afraid to ask... but is there something slightly similar for JavaFX? We require nothing as fancy as Flex Datagrids/AdvancedDatagrids, we only require a easy, straight forward way to display grids of data that are able to have a little of interaction like clicking, sorting and that are able to display images, buttons, etc. without having to download a ton of different jars. If there isn´t something out there... This would be a shot in the back of the head to the idea of giving javaFx the chance to compete with flash on our project (which is sad). I really cant believe the SUN people didnt include something like this on the core API...

  • Intellij Javafx artifact - how do you make it?

    I've been trying all day to turn my javafx application into a jar file. I'm using Java 1.7 update 7. Oracle has some information, but it just seems scattered all over the place. Intellij is almost doing the job, but I get the following error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javafx/application/Application Which seems to say that I need to tell java where the jfxrt.jar is... If I add this jar to my classpath info for the manifest build in intellij - ctrl+shift+alt+s - Artifacts - Output Layout tab - Class Path, then I get another error: Could not find or load main class com.downloadpinterest.code.Main It seems strange to have to include jfxrt.jar in my class path though... I've tried to create an ant script as well, but I feel like IntelliJ is 90% of the way there - and I just need a bit of help to figure out why I need to include jfxrt.jar, and why my Main class isn't being found (I'm guessing I need to add it to the classpath somehow?). Could anyone clue me up as to what is happening? I had a basic gui before which worked fine, but JavaFX seems to be making life complicated!

  • Looking for a user suggestion script

    I'm looking for a script that would easily fit or be customized to work as a suggestion script where users can submit suggestions anonymously and have them be displayed on one page and either upvoted or downvoted like digg or reddit without user accounts.     At the moment I'm writing a JavaFX guide for Java developers. In order to show how to pass a function to another funtion i adopted the reduce() function found in Effective Java: function reduce(seq: Integer[], f: function(: Integer, : Integer): Integer, init: Integer) { var result = init; for (i in seq) { result = f(i, result); } result } def nums = [1 .. 10]; println(reduce(nums, function(a: Integer, b: Integer) { a + b }, 0)); // prints 55 println(reduce(nums, function(a: Integer, b: Integer) { a * b }, 0)); // prints 3628800 Now I wonder if this example is not to hard for someone starting to learn JavaFX. The tutorial is targeted to programmers with a solid understanding of Java, yet I'm not quite sure about the usefulness of the example. Any ideas?
