  • iOS : Creating a 3D Compass

    - by Md. Abdul Munim
Originally posted here: iOS : Creating a 3D Compass Hi everybody, Quite new in this forum.Posted the same question in stackoverflow and there some people suggested to shift it here, so that I can get a quick help from more specialists in this regard. So what's the big matter? Actually, I want to make a 3D metal compass in iOS which will have a movable cover. That is when you touch it by 3 fingers and try to move your fingers upward the cover keeps moving with your fingers and after certain distance it gets opened.Once you pull it down using 3 fingers again, it gets closed.I can not attach an image here as I don't have that much reputation. So I request you to check the original question at stack overflow that I linked at top. Is it possible using core animations and CALayers? Or would I have to use OpenGL ES? Please someone help me out, I am badly in need of it.And I need to complete it asap!

  • Cannot open root device xvda1 or unknown-block(0,0)

    - by svoop
I'm putting together a Dom0 and three DomU (all Gentoo) with kernel 3.5.7 and Xen 4.1.1. Each Dom has it's own md (md0 for Dom0, md1 for Dom1 etc). Dom0 works fine so far, however, I'm stuck trying to create DomUs. It appears the xvda1 device on DomU is not created or accessible: Parsing config file dom1 domainbuilder: detail: xc_dom_allocate: cmdline="root=/dev/xvda1 console=hvc0 root=/dev/xvda1 ro 3", • Suggestion for a Non-CSE developer

    - by Md.lbrahim
Due to financial problems, I couldn't go for CSE in my country and had to settle for a BCIS honors degree. Now, after quite some time, when I want to go for a higher position in software development then I get asked about algorithms and basics that I have missed back in uni. This is affecting my chances of getting selected and I cannot afford that any longer. My question would be that what you would suggest smn like me to do in order to cover the 'basics' without any university or educational institute e.g. books, learn C++,etc? Any suggestion (including -ve) is welcomed and appreciated.

  • How to solve programming problems using logic? [closed]

    - by md nth
I know these principles: Define the constrains and operations,eg constrains are the rules that you cant pass and what you want determined by the end goal, operations are actions you can do, "choices" . Buy some time by solving easy and solvable piece. Halving the difficulty by dividing the project into small goals and blocks. The more blocks you create the more hinges you have. Analogies which means : using other code blocks, yours or from other programmers . which has problem similar to the current problem. Experiments not guessing by writing "predicted end" code, in other word creating a hypothesis, about what will happen if you do this or that. Use your tools first, don't begin with a unknown code first. By making small goals you ll not get frustrated. Start from smallest problem. Are there other principles?

  • Possible to get SSD TRIM (discard) working on ext4 + LVM + software RAID in Linux?

    - by Don MacAskill
We use RAID1+0 with md on Linux (currently 2.6.37) to create an md device, then use LVM to provide volume management on top of the device, and then use ext4 as our filesystem on the LVM volume groups. With SSDs as the drives, we'd like to see the TRIM commands propagate through the layers (ext4 - LVM - md - SSD) to the devices. It looks like recent 2.6.3x kernels have had a lot of new SSD-related TRIM support added, including lots more coverage of Device Mapper scenarios, but we still can't seem to get it to cascade down properly. Is this possible yet? If so, how? If not, is any progress being made?

  • Copying single files into a folder that changes name every time the batch file is executed

    - by Daniel Jochem
Can you please help, I am using this to put the text files made by the batch file into the folder created by the batch file as well. but my problem is that the name is changed of the new folder every time because it is named by the date and time it was created. This is the code: @echo off for /F " tokens=1,2,3* delims=/, " %%i IN ('date /T') DO ( set CUR_DAY_OF_WEEK=%%i set CUR_MONTH=%%j set CUR_DAY=%%k set CUR_YEAR=%%l) for /F " tokens=1,2,3* delims=:, " %%i IN ('time /T') DO ( set CUR_HOUR=%%i set CUR_MIN=%%j set AM_PM=%%k) if not exist E:\Private goto :F cd E:\Private md "E:\Private\%CUR_HOUR%.%CUR_MIN%%AM_PM% %j%%CUR_MONTH%-%CUR_DAY%-%CUR_YEAR%" goto :start :F if not exist F:\Private goto :G cd F:\Private md "F:\Private\%CUR_HOUR%.%CUR_MIN%%AM_PM% %j%%CUR_MONTH%-%CUR_DAY%-%CUR_YEAR%" goto :start :G cd G:\Private md "G:\Private\%CUR_HOUR%.%CUR_MIN%%AM_PM% %j%%CUR_MONTH%-%CUR_DAY%-%CUR_YEAR%" goto :start :start start /min A /stext A.txt start /min B /stext B.txt start /min C /stext C.txt start /min D /stext D.txt (As the directory (E:-G:) changes, how can I check all without an error? And once that is found, then put all these text files into the date folder.

  • URGENT: help recovering lost data

    - by Niels Kristian
I have made a directory: sudo mkdir /ssd, the directory was supposed to be mounted to a raid array called md3. This was done by adding /dev/md3 /ssd auto defaults 0 0 to fstab. Then after a while where I had used the directory, I realized that I had forgotten to run sudo mount -a - and then I did, and now the data is gone. I tried to uncomment the line in fstab and run sudo mount -a but that didn't get back my data. What can I do!? • mdadm: breaks boot due to "is not ready yet or not present" error

    - by BarsMonster
This is so damn frustrating :-| I've spent like 20 hours on this nice error, and seems like dozens of people over Internet too, and no clear solution yet. I have non-system RAID-5 of 5 disks, and it's fine. But during boot up it says that "/dev/md0 is not ready yet or not present" and asks to press 'S'. Very nice for Ubuntu Server - I have to bring monitor and keyboard to go next. After this system boots and it's all fine. md0 device works, /proc/mdstat is fine. When I do mount -a - it mounts this array without errors and works fine. As a dumb and shameful workaround I added noauto in /etc/fstab, and did mounting in /etc/rc.local - it works fine then. Any hints how to make it work properly? fstab: UUID=3588dfed-47ae-4c32-9855-2d69df713b86 /var/bigfatdisk ext4 noauto,noatime,data=writeback,barrier=0,nobh,commit=5 0 0 mdadm config: It is autogenerated: # mdadm.conf # # Please refer to mdadm.conf(5) for information about this file. # # by default, scan all partitions (/proc/partitions) for MD superblocks. # alternatively, specify devices to scan, using wildcards if desired. • Problem with JavaScript arithmetic

    - by Lynn
    I have a form for my customers to add budget projections. A prominent user wants to be able to show dollar values in either dollars, Kila-dollars or Mega-dollars. I'm trying to achieve this with a group of radio buttons that call the following JavaScript function, but am having problems with rounding that make the results look pretty crummy. Any advice would be much appreciated! Lynn function setDollars(new_mode) { var factor; var myfield; var myval; var cur_mode = document.proj_form.cur_dollars.value; if(cur_mode == new_mode) { return; } else if((cur_mode == 'd')&&(new_mode == 'kd')) { factor = "0.001"; } else if((cur_mode == 'd')&&(new_mode == 'md')) { factor = "0.000001"; } else if((cur_mode == 'kd')&&(new_mode == 'd')) { factor = "1000"; } else if((cur_mode == 'kd')&&(new_mode == 'md')) { factor = "0.001"; } else if((cur_mode == 'md')&&(new_mode == 'kd')) { factor = "1000"; } else if((cur_mode == 'md')&&(new_mode == 'd')) { factor = "1000000"; } document.proj_form.cur_dollars.value = new_mode; var cur_idx = document.proj_form.cur_idx.value; var available_slots = 13 - cur_idx; var td_name; var cell; var new_value; //Adjust dollar values for projections for(i=1;i<13;i++) { var myfield = eval('document.proj_form.proj_'+i); if(myfield.value == '') { myfield.value = 0; } var myval = parseFloat(myfield.value) * parseFloat(factor); myfield.value = myval; if(i < cur_idx) { document.getElementById("actual_"+i).innerHTML = myval; } }

  • ambient values in mvc2.net routing

    - by Muhammad Adeel Zahid
Hello Everyone, i have following two routes registered in my global.asax file routes.MapRoute( "strict", "{controller}.mvc/{docid}/{action}/{id}", new { action = "Index", id = "", docid = "" }, new { docid = @"\d+"} ); routes.MapRoute( "default", "{controller}.mvc/{action}/{id}", new { action = "Index", id = "" }, new { docConstraint = new DocumentConstraint() } ); and i have a static "dashboard" link in my tabstrip and some other links that are constructed from values in db here is the code <ul id="globalnav" class = "t-reset t-tabstrip-items"> <li class="bar" id = "dashboard"> <%=Html.ActionLink("dash.board", "Index", pck.Controller, new{docid =string.Empty,id = pck.PkgID }, new { @class = "here" })%> </li> <% foreach (var md in pck.sysModules) { %> <li class="<%=liClass%>"> <%=Html.ActionLink(md.ModuleName, md.ActionName, pck.Controller, new { docid = md.DocumentID}, new { @class = cls })%> </li> <% } %> </ul> Now my launching address is localhost/oa.mvc/index/11 clearly matching the 2nd route. but when i visit any page that has mapped to first route and then come back to dash.board link it shows me localhost/oa.mvc/7/index/11 where 7 is docid and picked from previous Url. now i understand that my action method is after docid and changing it would not clear the docid. my question here is that can i remove docid in this scenario without changing the route. regards adeel

  • Getting rid of nested using(...) statements

    - by Ghostrider
Sometimes I need to use several disposable objects within a function. Most common case is having StreamReader and StreamWriter but sometimes it's even more than this. Nested using statements quickly add up and look ugly. To remedy this I've created a small class that collects IDisposable objects and disposes of them when it itself is disposed. public class MultiDispose : HashSet<IDisposable>, IDisposable { public MultiDispose(params IDisposable[] objectsToDispose) { foreach (IDisposable d in objectsToDispose) { this.Add(d); } } public T Add<T>(T obj) where T : IDisposable { base.Add(obj); return obj; } public void DisposeObject(IDisposable obj) { obj.Dispose(); base.Remove(obj); } #region IDisposable Members public void Dispose() { foreach (IDisposable d in this) { d.Dispose(); } } #endregion } So my code now looks like this: using (MultiDispose md = new MultiDispose()) { StreamReader rdr = md.Add(new StreamReader(args[0])); StreamWriter wrt = md.Add(new StreamWriter(args[1])); WhateverElseNeedsDisposing w = md.Add(new WhateverElseNeedsDisposing()); // code } Is there anything wrong with this approach that can cause problems down the road? I left the Remove function inherited from the HashSet on purpose so that the class would be more flexible. Surely misusing this function can lead to objects not being disposed of properly, but then there many other ways to shoot yourself in the foot without this class.

  • EC2 instance suddenly refusing SSH connections and won't respond to ping

    - by Chris
My instance was running fine and this morning I was able to access a Ruby on Rails app hosted on it. An hour later I suddenly wasn't able to access my site, my SSH connection attempts were refused and the server wasn't even responding to ping. I didn't change anything on my system during that hour and reboots aren't fixing it. I've never had any problems connecting or pinging the system before. Can someone please help? This is on my production system! • Hot-swap drive got new name, can I change it on-the-fly?

    - by T.J. Crowder
One of the HDDs in my server's RAID config failed, so I took it out of the array and had the data center hot-swap it. They've done that, but now the new drive is /dev/sdc rather than /dev/sda. I suspect — correct me if I'm wrong — that if I reboot the server, it will be /dev/sda again, so I'm hesitant to add it back to the array as /dev/sdc because I don't want to lay a trap for myself to fall into on the next reboot. I'd just as soon not reboot the server if I don't need to (if I do need to, well, too bad for me). Is there a way I can change the device name from /dev/sdc to /dev/sda without rebooting? This is on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. It's an md array ("Linux Software RAID"), where currently one of the devices (there are a couple of them) looks like this ("degraded" because I've removed the old /dev/sda from it): # mdadm --detail /dev/md0 /dev/md0: Version : 00.90.03 Creation Time : Sun Oct 11 21:07:54 2009 Raid Level : raid1 Array Size : 97536 (95.27 MiB 99.88 MB) Used Dev Size : 97536 (95.27 MiB 99.88 MB) Raid Devices : 2 Total Devices : 1 Preferred Minor : 0 Persistence : Superblock is persistent Update Time : Thu Jun 30 09:31:16 2011 State : clean, degraded Active Devices : 1 Working Devices : 1 Failed Devices : 0 Spare Devices : 0 UUID : 496be7a5:ab9177ed:7792c71e:7dc17aa4 Events : 0.112 Number Major Minor RaidDevice State 0 8 17 0 active sync /dev/sdb1 1 0 0 1 removed Thanks, Update: Reading through the kernel md documentation, I suspect that if the name changes on reboot, it won't matter. (Good design, that.) Here's why: Boot time autodetection of RAID arrays When md is compiled into the kernel (not as module), partitions of type 0xfd are scanned and automatically assembled into RAID arrays. This autodetection may be suppressed with the kernel parameter "raid=noautodetect". As of kernel 2.6.9, only drives with a type 0 superblock can be autodetected and run at boot time. The kernel parameter "raid=partitionable" (or "raid=part") means that all auto-detected arrays are assembled as partitionable. I do have md compiled into the kernel, so I'm rebuilding the array now and will do the reboot to see what happens. Even if it works, the above doesn't answer the question I actually asked, so unless someone comes along and answers that question in the meantime (I'd be interested, even if it's not necessary for what I'm doing this very moment), I'll just delete the question to keep noise down.

  • Error 5 partition table invalid or corrupt

    - by Clodoaldo
I'm trying to add a second SSD to a Centos 6 system. But I get the Error 5 partition table invalid or corrupt at boot. The system already has a single SSD (sdb) and a pair of HDDs (sd{a,c}) in a RAID 1 array from where it boots. It is as if the new SSD assumes one of the devices of the RAID array. Is it? How to avoid that or rearrange the setup? # cat fstab UUID=967b4035-782d-4c66-b22f-50244fe970ca / ext4 defaults 1 1 UUID=86fd06e9-cdc9-4166-ba9f-c237cfc43e02 /boot ext4 defaults 1 2 UUID=72552a7a-d8ae-4f0a-8917-b75a6239ce9f /ssd ext4 discard, relatime 1 2 UUID=8000e5e6-caa2-4765-94f8-9caeb2bda26e swap swap defaults 0 0 tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0 devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0 sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0 proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 # • Error 22 no such partition on adding a SSD

    - by Clodoaldo
I'm trying to add a second SSD to a Centos 6 system. But I get the error 22 no such partition at boot. The system already has a single SSD (sdb) and a pair of HDDs (sd{a,c}) in a RAID 1 array from where it boots. It is as if the new SSD assumes one of the devices of the RAID array. Is it? How to avoid that or rearrange the setup? # cat fstab UUID=967b4035-782d-4c66-b22f-50244fe970ca / ext4 defaults 1 1 UUID=86fd06e9-cdc9-4166-ba9f-c237cfc43e02 /boot ext4 defaults 1 2 UUID=72552a7a-d8ae-4f0a-8917-b75a6239ce9f /ssd ext4 discard, relatime 1 2 UUID=8000e5e6-caa2-4765-94f8-9caeb2bda26e swap swap defaults 0 0 tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0 devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0 sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0 proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 # • Java String to SHA1

    - by AeroDroid
I'm trying to make a simple String to SHA1 converter in Java and this is what I've got... public static String toSHA1(byte[] convertme) { MessageDigest md = null; try { md = MessageDigest.getInstance("SHA-1"); } catch(NoSuchAlgorithmException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return new String(md.digest(convertme)); } When I pass it toSHA1("password".getBytes()), I get "[?a?????%l?3~??." I know it's probably a simple encoding fix like UTF-8, but could someone tell me what I should do to get what I want which is "5baa61e4c9b93f3f0682250b6cf8331b7ee68fd8"? Or am I doing this completely wrong? Thanks a lot!
