  In my company there are two redundant MX servers, I would like to tell nagios to wake me in the night ONLY if both servers are down. The default behavior is to alert whenever one of the MX servers is down. I would like to set a timeperiod i.e. 23:00 to 06:00 when nagios only alerts me by sms in case both servers are down. I am using nagios3 but I couldn't find something like this in the docs. Thanks

  I have bought a domain from 123-reg.co.uk and have successfully pointed it to the IP Address of my Linode VPS so that going to the domain serves up the pages from the Apache server running on the VPS. The instructions I followed to do this are : Now, I am trying to get the domain's mail handled by Google Apps for Business. I have tried updating the MX records at Linode following this tutorial : http://library.linode.com/email/google-mail And also followed the instructions to update the MX Records in 123-reg's control panel : I am slightly confused now. Where should I be adding the MX records? In my domain registrar's control panel or in Linode's VPS? Both have options to update the MX records.

• TextArea being used as an itemEditor misbehaves when the enter key is pressed

• Sending mail through local MTA while domain MX records point to Google Apps

  My domain's email is managed by Google Apps, so that domain users get Gmail and Calendar, etc. But I also want to be able to send applicative notifications to users outside the domain via email (e.g. "some commented on your post", and so on). However, if I try to send email through code I get blocked by Gmail after a few emails. I send marketing email through MailChimp, to minimize the risk of appearing as spam to my users (one-click unsubscribe, etc.). But I can't send applicative message in this way. I want to install a local MTA (my server runs Ubuntu), but I'm not sure what anti-spam measures I need to implement so that receiving MTAs don't think it's a spam server. What's stopping anyone from setting up a mail server and sending emails using my domain name? AFAIK it's the DNS records that show the MTA's address actually belongs to the domain. But my understanding of this is rather superficial, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong. But what sort of DNS configuration do I need to put in place so that I don't get blacklisted (assuming I don't actually spam anyone)? The MX records already point to Google, and I'd like to keep it this way. So do I just need to define an A record for my internal mail server? Should it show email as coming from a sub-domain, so as not to conflict with the bare domain being managed by google? Edit: Does the following SPF record make sense if I want email from my domain name to be sent by either google's servers or any server with a dns name ending with mydomain.com? "v=spf1 ptr mx:google.com mx:googlemail.com ~all" How should I set up reverse DNS for my server? If I have an A record that points mailsender.mydomain.com to my MTA's ip address, does it mean that reverse lookup will only allow emails sent from [email protected]?

• I want to host clients' websites, but not their email. What's the easiest way to handle this?

  My company lets non-technical users build their own niche industry websites on our server, which we host. they can currently point their nameservers at their registrar to us, which ends up with them no longer having access to their email if they've already set it up through said registrar. We don't want to interfere with their existing email, nor do we want to get into the business of setting up email for them through our service. Thus, having them point A records/cname to us would work, but is this too complex for a non-technie user? We thought of having them point nameservers to us but pointing the MX records back to them, but this is also beyond their scope. Is there an easy way to 'point records' at their initial state? Any other ideas/feedback?

• Does it matter that the TTL is higher than I've been told?

  Ok, so the title isn't very descriptive, I know. Basically, I'm trying to configure Outlook.com to use my custom domain! I've followed the steps and made the account etc. and now I have the DNS settings to configure from Windows Live. I added the MX Entries and everything last night but Windows Live is still saying I need to prove my ownership of the domain. The only thing I can think of that I had to use a differrent TTL to the one provided because my web hoster will only allow a minimum of four hours, whereas Windows Live told me to configure the TTL as one hour. Would that stop anything? By the way, my web hoster is JustHost (Shared Hosting)

• Difference between halo and mx namespace

  Hi there ! As far as I know, the support for library://ns.adobe.com/flex/halo namespace has been dropped, and now we have to use library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx instead (reference). Can someone provide if there's any difference between the two namespaces? I am just starting to learn Flex and this change make me confused. For example, if I have an <mx:Tree> tag in my mxml document, the compiler complains that <mx:Tree> could not be resolved to a component implementation. But if I change my mx namespace to use the old one instead (halo), it successfully compiled without error. Thanks.   Hi, I've just started learning flex using OReilly "Programming Flex 3.0". After completing three chapters and starting fourth (ActionScript), and not having enough patience to wait till completing chapter 22 I started to practice :) One bit that I have most worries about right now is the the dual coding mode (MXML vs ActionScript) Please have a look at my code below (it compiles via mxmlc design.mxml, second file 'code.as' should be in same directory) and advise if the separation I used between visual design and code is appropriate. Also - if some smart guy could show me how to recode same example with *.as being a class file [package?] it would be highly appreciated.   I am helping a friend with his website, and am having a problem with his webmail configuration, which I suspect is due to a misconfigured MX record. His domain is registered and hosted by hostmonster, they have a webmail option. A record: Host Points To TTL webmail 12.345.789.101 14400 CNAME: mail webmail.d.com 14400 MX Record: 0 @ mail.d.com 14400 I've created an email account on hostmonster, [email protected]: however, when I sent an email to this account, it appears to be routing to /dev/null. I know that it's not actually, but am unsure of the steps I can take to track this down? I've tried using dig, but am unsure where to start. How can I track down where this email is being routed to?

• Configure Postfix to use external MX servers for delivery of local mail if user is unknown

  I have a following setup: linux box with postfix configured to be responsible for example.com domain domain's MX servers are configured so that mail sent to example.com is sent to google mail servers several user accounts on linux machine exist (same machine also hosts example.com site) When someone from the outside attempts to send mail to address ending with @example.com, it gets routed to google mail (and there handled appropriately). When linux machine tries to send mail to outside world, mail is delivered correctly, as reverse dns and spf records are configured correctly, so linux machine is valid mail sender for example.com domain (along with google mail servers). However, here's the problem. When php application (hosted at linux box) tries to send mail to [email protected] (and someuser doesn't exist on linux box), it fails, since it doesn't even consult google mail servers, but postfix smtp locally concludes that "someuser" is unknown. So, the question is: how do I tell postfix to relay mails sent to @example.com domain to google mail servers (so, to servers specified in MX records), IF and only if a mailbox is not found locally.

• Need help with DNS. Registrar is NS, Web Site at WinHost, Email at eHost

  Need help moving a web site for a client, which I will call ClientABC. The web site is ClientABC.com, which is hosted at Rackspace, with their email hosted at eHost. We are transferring the site from Rackspace to WinHost and are keeping the email hosted at eHost. I would like the transfer to happen with little to no down time for the web site and email (email is most important). Current Config: Client owns domain and registrar is Network Solutions Domain name is managed by VendorX at Rackspace Web site is hosted on Rackspace servers Email is hosted at eHost Post-Move Config: Web site is hosted at WinHost Keep Email at eHost Here is my plan for the transfer: Copy the site files to WinHost and test to assure site is fully functional Set up the MX record in the WinHost account to point to eHost servers Change the DNS in Network Solutions from Rackspace to Winhost Questions: Will this work? What am I missing? Should I expect down time or any issues with email? I understand that there will be a period of time that traffic to the site is handled at both Rackspace and Winhost and that email traffic will be routed through both hosts as well. Will this cause issues? How will I know when the change is fully propagated and that Rackspace is out of the equation and WinHost is handling everything (so I can kill the Rackspace account) Thanks in advance!

  I am using Adobe Flash Builder 4. I've run into this issue with my latest project, but I was able to re-create it with an almost empty project. Here is what I've done. Created a new Flex Project Created a locale/en_US folder within this project. Added a class that extends SparkDownloadProgressBar. All this class does is attempt to create a Label. When I try to debug this application, I get the following error. • Setting up Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server as a mail exchange server

  I am a Unix/Linux/Windows Server noob. So, keep that in mind before you throw your stones at my glass house. :P I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine that's acting as domain controller, Server A. It's also running a DNS server. I have a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5.3, Server B that is intended for mail server. In order for the mail delivery to happen, I understand that I have to set an MX record on Server A and point it to Server B. Well, I did. I manually added a host name on Server A and pointed to Server B's IP address. Then I added an MX record and pointed it to the host name. That didn't do the trick. After taking the above steps, I used the "dig" command on Server B to lookup the MX record coming back from Server A and it wasn't what I was expecting. What am I doing wrong here? I have noticed that... my Windows machines that are joined to the domain (Server A) are listed under the host names. The machines that are not joined to the domain are not list. This is fine, I am not worried about this. What does concern me, do I have to join the Server B to domain in order for Server A to recognize as a valid host and forward the MX properly? If so, some simple steps on how to join Server B to the domain would also help.

• Logitech Performance MX Mouse Jumps on OS X Lion (10.7.4)

  I have a Logitech MX Revolution wireless mouse that I am trying to use with OS X Lion. Everything is working except for one problem... there is a small, but quite noticeable, jump when the mouse cursor is moved. The problem is mostly prevalent when dragging and dropping files or trying to highlight items. It makes performing any task with the mouse accurately next to impossible. I did quite a bit of looking and found that all kinds of people have had mouse issues with OS X. I've tried all of the following with absolutely no success: Using the official drivers from Logitech (these performed worse than the default mouse drivers in OS X) Using SteerMouse as a third party mouse driver. This worked ever so slightly better than the default driver, but still suffered quite frequently from the skipping problem Cleaning the sensor on the mouse and ensuring it's not the result of the surface that it's being used on. Tested the mouse on a Windows machine. The mouse worked absolutely flawlessly on the other machine. Changed the channel that my wireless router operates on by the off chance my problems were the result of interference. This also had no effect. I can't think of anything else that could possibly interfere with the mouse. I'm am out of ideas on what to try, so I would really appreciate if anyone has any suggestions. I should also mention that an old wired mouse I had laying around worked just fine when I plugged it in. This really isn't the best solution, however, as I really prefer the MX Revolution.

I have the exact problem, like in this post: http://serverfault.com/questions/25068/sendmail-to-local-domain-ignoring-mx-records I am also using email provider like GMail For Your Domain (which stores your mail and manages it). I am sending mail from my server directly, but receiving mail is done via Yandex (email provider). Since the server hosts forum, I prefer to send mail directly from it because using another mail provider can slow things.   I have an AIR application written in html/javascript and I want to use the Actionscript print functions but I have no experience in Actionscript for AIR. Where do I put the Actionscript code ? Does it go into an mxml file or does it need to be compiled into a Flash application. Where do I put it and how do I include it into the html document ?
