  • No sound lenovo t60 alsa ad1981 iec958

    - by Nate
Any help on getting the sound to come through my lenovo t60 build in speakers, headphones, or mic would greatly be appreciated. The three buttons to increase, decrease sound seem to work. Bios has sound card enabled and the buttons beep when pressed. When going to Utube or playing music, no sound is heard. Thanks Nate Feb 23 - Didn't see anything specific in the sys logs with Rhythmbox when connecting my ipod. Rhythmbox is playing, but still no sound. Here is the syslog details for today. • sql perfomance on new server

    - by Rapunzo
    My database is running on a pc (AMD Phenom x6, intel ssd disk, 8GB DDR3 RAM and windows 7 OS + sql server 2008 R2 sp3 ) and it started working hard, timeout problems and up to 30 seconds long queries after 200 mb of database And I also have an old server pc (IBM x-series 266: 72*3 15k rpm scsi discs with raid5, 4 gb ram and windows server 2003 + sql server 2008 R2 sp3 ) and same query start to give results in 100 seconds.. I tried query analyser tool for tuning my indexed. but not so much improvements. its a big dissapointment for me. because I thought even its an old server pc it should be more powerfull with 15k rpm discs with raid5. what should I do. do I need $10.000 new server to get a good performance for my sql server? cant I use that IBM server? Extra information: there is 50 sql users and its an ERP program. There is my query ALTER FUNCTION [dbo].[fnDispoTerbiye] ( ) RETURNS TABLE AS RETURN ( SELECT MD.dispoNo, SV.sevkNo, M1.musteriAdi AS musteri, SD.tipTurId, TT.tipTur, SD.tipNo, SD.desenNo, SD.varyantNo, SUM(T.topMetre) AS toplamSevkMetre, MD.dispoMetresi, DT.gelisMetresi, ISNULL(DT.fire, 0) AS fire, SV.sevkTarihi, DT.gelisTarihi, SP.mamulTermin, SD.miktar AS siparisMiktari, M.musteriAdi AS boyahane, MD.akisNotu AS islemler, --dbo.fnAkisIslemleri(MD.dispoNo) DT.partiNo, DT.iplikBoyaId, B.tanimAd AS BoyaTuru, MAX(HD.hamEn) AS hamEn, MAX(HD.hamGramaj) AS hamGramaj, TS.mamulEn, TS.mamulGramaj, DT.atkiCekmesi, DT.cozguCekmesi, DT.fiyat, DV.dovizCins, DT.dovizId, (SELECT CASE WHEN DT.dovizId = 2 THEN CAST(round(SUM(T .topMetre) * DT.fiyat * (SELECT TOP 1 satis FROM tblKur WHERE dovizId = 2 ORDER BY tarih DESC), 2) AS numeric(18, 2)) WHEN DT.dovizId = 3 THEN CAST(round(SUM(T .topMetre) * DT.fiyat * (SELECT TOP 1 satis FROM tblKur WHERE dovizId = 3 ORDER BY tarih DESC), 2) AS numeric(18, 2)) WHEN DT.dovizId = 1 THEN CAST(round(SUM(T .topMetre) * DT.fiyat * (SELECT TOP 1 satis FROM tblKur WHERE dovizId = 1 ORDER BY tarih DESC), 2) AS numeric(18, 2)) END AS Expr1) AS ToplamTLfiyat, DT.aciklama, MD.dispoNotu, SD.siparisId, SD.siparisDetayId, DT.sqlUserName, DT.kayitTarihi, O.orguAd, 'Çözgü=(' + (SELECT dbo.fnTipIplikler(SD.tipTurId, SD.tipNo, SD.desenNo, SD.varyantNo, 1) AS Expr1) + ')' + ' Atki=(' + (SELECT dbo.fnTipIplikler(SD.tipTurId, SD.tipNo, SD.desenNo, SD.varyantNo, 2) AS Expr1) + ')' AS iplikAciklama, DT.prosesOk, dbo.[fnYikamaTalimat](SP.siparisId) yikamaTalimati FROM tblDoviz AS DV WITH(NOLOCK) INNER JOIN tblDispoTerbiye AS DT WITH(NOLOCK) INNER JOIN tblTanimlar AS B WITH(NOLOCK) ON DT.iplikBoyaId = B.tanimId AND B.tanimTurId = 2 ON DV.id = DT.dovizId RIGHT OUTER JOIN tblMusteri AS M1 WITH(NOLOCK) INNER JOIN tblSiparisDetay AS SD WITH(NOLOCK) INNER JOIN tblDispo AS MD WITH(NOLOCK) ON SD.siparisDetayId = MD.siparisDetayId INNER JOIN tblTipTur AS TT WITH(NOLOCK) ON SD.tipTurId = TT.tipTurId INNER JOIN tblSiparis AS SP WITH(NOLOCK) ON SD.siparisId = SP.siparisId ON M1.musteriNo = SP.musteriNo INNER JOIN tblTip AS TP WITH(NOLOCK) ON SD.tipTurId = TP.tipTurId AND SD.tipNo = TP.tipNo AND SD.desenNo = TP.desen AND SD.varyantNo = TP.varyant INNER JOIN tblOrgu AS O WITH(NOLOCK) ON TP.orguId = O.orguId INNER JOIN tblMusteri AS M WITH(NOLOCK) INNER JOIN tblSevkiyat AS SV WITH(NOLOCK) ON M.musteriNo = SV.musteriNo INNER JOIN tblSevkDetay AS SVD WITH(NOLOCK) ON SV.sevkNo = SVD.sevkNo ON MD.mamulDispoHamSevkno = SV.sevkNo LEFT OUTER JOIN tblTop AS T WITH(NOLOCK) INNER JOIN tblDispo AS HD WITH(NOLOCK) ON T.dispoNo = HD.dispoNo AND T.dispoTuruId = HD.dispoTuruId ON SVD.dispoTuruId = T.dispoTuruId AND SVD.dispoNo = T.dispoNo AND SVD.topNo = T.topNo AND MD.siparisDetayId = HD.siparisDetayId ON DT.dispoTuruId = MD.dispoTuruId AND DT.dispoNo = MD.dispoNo LEFT OUTER JOIN tblDispoTerbiyeTest AS TS WITH(NOLOCK) ON DT.dispoTuruId = TS.dispoTuruId AND DT.dispoNo = TS.dispoNo --WHERE DT.gelisTarihi IS NULL -- OR DT.gelisTarihi > GETDATE()-30 GROUP BY MD.dispoNo, DT.partiNo, DT.iplikBoyaId, TS.mamulEn, TS.mamulGramaj, DT.gelisMetresi, DT.gelisTarihi, DT.atkiCekmesi, DT.cozguCekmesi, DT.fire, DT.fiyat, DT.aciklama, DT.sqlUserName, DT.kayitTarihi, SD.tipTurId, TT.tipTur, SD.tipNo, SD.desenNo, SD.varyantNo, SD.siparisId, SD.siparisDetayId, B.tanimAd, M.musteriAdi, M.musteriAdi, M1.musteriAdi, O.orguAd, TP.iplikAciklama, SD.miktar, MD.dispoNotu, SP.mamulTermin, DT.dovizId, DV.dovizCins, MD.dispoMetresi, MD.akisNotu, SV.sevkNo, SV.sevkTarihi, DT.prosesOk,SP.siparisId )

  • I cut-to-move DCIM folder to ext SD when an auto android OS update popped up b4 I could choose target - Cannot recover 200+ photos

    - by ZeroG
I was downloading my Exhibit II's DCIM camera folder (with month's of photos inside) to its external SD card, in order to transfer them into my laptop. In my overconfidence, I hurriedly chose cut-to-move (rather than copy-to-move) when KABOOM! —an automatic Android OS update popped up before I could choose the target!!! I figured everything was in cache & calmly tried to go through with the update. But that was not a typically seamless event. It showed downloading icon but hmm… since I rooted the phone it brought the command line up & recovery sequence. But neither Android nor I had yet downloaded any alternate custom ROM Files to internal SD to update from! So were they trying to make me unroot my phone by giving me some bogus update on the fly or just give me a hard time in trying to hand me down an unrooted ROM that I'd have to figure out how to root again? Yes, I know there was that blurb about overwriting a file of the same name but I was trying to shake the darn stubborn update being forced on my phone during this precarious moment. I thought I had frozen or turned off all those auto-updates previously. Anyway, phones are small & fingers are big (sigh)... I tried to reboot into safe mode but the resultant photo file was partially overwritten (200 files had names but Zero bytes in them). I thought maybe it was still hung in cache or deposited somewhere else but I have searched everywhere with file managers. Since I did not have Titanium backing up camera, photo folder or gallery, I cannot recover 200+ photos. Dumb. You can understand my dilemma as I am involved in the arts & although just a camera phone, most of these photos were historic & aesthetic or at least as to subject matter. Photo-ops don't reoccur. I have tried a couple of recovery apps from the market like Search Duplicates & Recover to no avail. I was only able to salvage stuff I'd sent out in messages. I've got several decades in computers & this is such a miserable beginner's piece of bad luck I can't believe it happened to me. They were precious photos! Yes, I turned on Titanium since & yes I even tried USB to laptop recoveries. Being on a MacBookPro I'm trying androidfiletransfer.dmg, but I'd have to upgrade to Peach Sunrise to get above Android 3.0 for that App to recognize the phone via USB & the programmer says installation zeros your data, so that pretty much toasts any secret hidden places where these photos may have been deposited. Don't want to do that & am still trying to find them. They certainly didn't make it to my external SD Card. If any of you techies out there know anything, please help & thanks. Despite decades of being in computing, unfamiliar & ever-changing hard or software can humble even the most seasoned veterans.

  • How can I format an SD card with a more robust Linux-usable filesystem with a specific cluster size for better write performace?

    - by Harvey
Goal: microSD card formatted... for best write performance for use only with embedded Linux for better reliability (random power failures may occur) using an 64kB cluster size I'm using an 8GB microSD card for data storage inside an embedded Linux/ARM device. The SD card is not removable. I've been using ext3 instead of the pre-installed FAT32 because it seems to better handle random power failures during writes. However, I kept noticing that my write performance is always best with the pre-installed FAT32 from Kingston. If I reformat the card with FAT32, the performance still suffers. After browsing wikipedia, I stumbled upon the following comment saying that some cards are optimized for specific cluster sizes. In my case, the Kingston comes pre-formatted for an 64kB cluster size. Risks of reformatting Reformatting an SD card with a different file system, or even with the same one, may make the card slower, or shorten its lifespan. Some cards use wear leveling, in which frequently modified blocks are mapped to different portions of memory at different times, and some wear-leveling algorithms are designed for the access patterns typical of the file allocation table on a FAT16 or FAT32 device.[60] In addition, the preformatted file system may use a cluster size that matches the erase region of the physical memory on the card; reformatting may change the cluster size and make writes less efficient.

  • Boot Ubuntu on smartphone SD card?

    - by berad
Now here's what I want: Ubuntu on the SD card that lives in my phone. I like using Ubuntu portably and my phone as a flash drive, but I haven't been able to make these work together yet. I've tried booting off my Huawei U8800 (Android 2.2) and Nokia E66 with a micro-SD card (with 11.10, boots OK in a card-reader) on an eeepc 901 without luck. The Huawei doesn't show up in the BIOS boot menu. BIOS sees the Nokia but halts at "Boot error". I guess this is related to the phone's flash drive emulation and how it handles bootsectors, but I don't know enough about how that works to go any further. Has anyone succeeded in this?

  • 2-Bay External HDD Enclosure in JBOD mode fails to detect both drives (Linux & Windows)

    - by mgc8888
I recently purchased a couple of USB 3.0 External HDD Enclosures to use for storage and backup; the idea was to have one act as backup to the other, with 4 x 3TB drives in total. However, the second drive in each is not accessible in either Linux nor Windows, and I could not determine the reason. 1. Situation The two enclosures are slightly different (couldn't find them in stock at the same time) yet from many little details appear to be the same Chinese base design with a tweaked outer shell. The models are: Sharkoon 2-Bay RAID Box Fantec MR-35DU3 The drives are Seagate 3TB Barracuda ST33000651AS, firmware CC44, all identical. From reading manuals and online sources, I determined that JBOD would be the optimal setup for my needs -- addressing the two drives separately in each enclosure would be important, making it easy to swap drives and mix&match them if needed; all the other modes implied the controller doing a combination of the drives. The software used was Debian GNU/Linux - testing/wheezy - kernel 2.6.39-2 and Windows 7 Ultimate. 2. Description of the problem Now, here comes the problem: every time I connect either of the enclosures to a PC using the supplied cable (tried a different one as well), only the HDD in the top bay is readable, the one below is detected yet errors out in various ways. According to the manuals, it should not happen: in JBOD, the system should be able to "see" two separate drives upon connection. This happens with both enclosures and any combination of HDDs (i.e. if I swap them, the same thing happens), so the HDDs are good and I think so are the enclosures (two different companies making similar products that failed in an identical fashion would be very unlikely). The top HDD can be used fine every time, I actually tried a speed test from Linux and got about 150MiB/s reads, so all is working as it should; the one below refuses to work every time. So the failure is consistent. To make sure this was not some obscure Linux bug, I tried the same under Windows 7, and the system also only created one drive letter for a drive of 3TB size (so it was only seeing one instead of both). Placing an older, known good, 2TB drive in the top bay made that the one recognised, so we have the same issue under Windows as well. Log entries under Linux (tested here with a 3TB and a 2TB drive so I could differentiate them; either one works in the top enclosure, in the test setup the 3TB one is on top). You can see them being detected, the top one is ok, but for the bottom one only errors: Jul 19 23:28:15 media kernel: [260150.582436] usb 6-1: New USB device found, idVendor=1ca1, idProduct=18ae Jul 19 23:28:15 media kernel: [260150.582440] usb 6-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 Jul 19 23:28:15 media kernel: [260150.582442] usb 6-1: Product: Usb Sata Bridge Jul 19 23:28:15 media kernel: [260150.582444] usb 6-1: Manufacturer: SYMWAVE Jul 19 23:28:15 media kernel: [260150.582446] usb 6-1: SerialNumber: 39584B304C4E3441 Jul 19 23:28:15 media kernel: [260150.870412] scsi11 : usb-storage 6-1:1.0 Jul 19 23:28:16 media kernel: [260151.882087] scsi 11:0:0:0: Direct-Access SYMWAVE ST33000651AS CC44 PQ: 0 ANSI: 4 Jul 19 23:28:16 media kernel: [260151.882242] scsi 11:0:0:1: Direct-Access SYMWAVE ST32000641AS CC12 PQ: 0 ANSI: 4 Jul 19 23:28:16 media kernel: [260151.882677] sd 11:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 0 Jul 19 23:28:16 media kernel: [260151.882774] sd 11:0:0:0: [sdb] Very big device. • Trying to get a PC to boot off a bootable SD card that is inside an USB attached Android device.

    - by Cyril
First, I'd like to make myself look less a madman than I may have appeared to be. I wanted to have a bootable USB stick with me at all times, but it's less convenient because it's an extra object and it's easier to lose, forget etc. Then I thought, I have an Android phone, and it has a micro SD in it; perfect. Not all PC's can boot off a card reader, but the phone itself is a card reader when attached as a disk drive. Or at least so I thought. Turns out that my netbook BIOS (tested on Asus eeePC) refuses to see it as an external harddrive; it only recognizes it as a generic USB device and doesn't offer an option to boot from it. The device has a name "Android phone" or smth, so it seems to me that it doesn't work as a "pure" card reader, and instead still manifests itself as a phone. Can it be somehow overridden?

  • What is the replacement of the floppy

    - by alexanderpas
While CD (and to an lesser extend DVD) disks have reached the price-point of the floppy, they have one significant downside, it is WORM (Write-Once Read-Many) media, allowing it to be used only one single time, and you need to be explicit in writing the data to the actual media (you need to burn it.) While CD-RW solves the "use only once" problem, it is still EWORM (Erasable Write-Once Read-Many) media, which still means you need to be explicit in writing the data to the actual media (you still need to burn it.), and also, you still need to be very explicit in erasing it. (simple delete is not possible.) Okay, we can use a CD-RW in Packet Writing mode, however the downside to that, is that this mode is not very universal, and also, not the native mode of the media. Now, while USB-sticks and SD-cards may not have the poblems of the CD, they have a whole other kind of problem: their PRICE! USB-sticks and SD cards are generally 10 to 100 times as expensive as diskettes per piece. SD-cards, in addition have an added problem, because they need a reader to operate. While it is a very standard thing, it is not default equipment on the computer like the CD drive or USB port (or historically the diskette drive). You wouldn't give out an USB stick or SD card with a 100 kB text file, not caring weither you would get it back or not. So, to recap: CD & DVD are basically WORM media. SD cards and USB sticks are relatively expensive. SD cards also needs special readers. Diskettes have a very low data-rate Diskettes have a very low storage capacity. Now, is there a media out there that solves all these problems, or is there a way to get (very) small USB sticks or SD cards for a very low price (as they're the closest thing to diskette).

  • How to read raw bytes from an SD card?

    - by geschema
On a Windows PC, is there a way to read the raw bytes from an SD card attached trough a USB card reader? The SD card gets written from an embedded system using no file system at all, so I can't use standard file access routines. This is similar to what the unix dd utility does, but I need to integrate this into a .NET application.

  • CFBundleDocumentTypes and iPad camera connection kit (SD reader)

    - by Kendall Helmstetter Gelner
I am trying to register a custom document type in an iPad app, with the hopes that I can be prompted to work with files on an SD card attached to the iPad through the camera connection kit. Does anyone know if this is currently possible (or even for sure if it's not possible)? I was hoping that the Camera tab in Photos would use a document interaction controller for types it did not understand, but it seems like Photos does not check for alternate handlers at all - I tried also registering support for the jpg type but was not prompted when using photos and loading in JPG images from an SD card. There is an SD reader app called Zoomit that appears to read many different types from an SD card: http://currentphotographer.com/zoomit-application-enabled-sd-card-reader-for-the-iphone/ But it seems that involves custom hardware, that differs from the standard SD reader.

  • Case for Micro SD card?

    - by Josh
I have a MicroSD card which I'd like to keep with me at all times, I.E. in my wallet. I'm looking for a case for it. But all the cases I can find seem to be for standard SD cards... the closest I could find was this: Which is completly pointless, it stores the Micro SD card along with it's adaptor. Why not just put the Micro SD card IN the adaptor and store both on a normal SD card case... Anyway, does what I'm looking for (a case to protect a microSD card, and only large enough for a mircoSD card, i.e. not what's pictured above) exist?

  • USB mass storage couldn't get mounted

    - by revo
It's my android phone SD card which was indicated damaged by android yesterday night, out of the blue! I put it directly to a USB port with a USB SD card holder case, so in that way I can recover it with TestDisk, which I had experienced before on a similar situation. I also noticed that there is a change in file system and capacity: File System : RAW Capacity : 0 (unknown capacity) Also TestDisk doesn't show it on its partitions list. A 2 GB SD card is not that important in price but I've a lot of files and medias which I need them. Used a mini card reader, TestDisk displayed it on its list but a quick search and or a deep search doesn't have any results No partition found or selected for recovery and then I should quit the program. • SD card initialization SPI

    - by Openavr
Hi People I saw a lot of infos about MMC/SD cards and I tried to make a lib to read this.. (modifying the Procyon Avrlib) But I have some problems here. I Don´t change the original code and tried here. My problem is about the init of SD card. I have 2 here, a 256mb and another 1GB. I send the init commands like this order: CMD0, CMD55, ACMD41, CMD1 But SD 256mb returns me only 0x01 response for each command.. the CMD1 i send a lot of times, SD 256mb always returs only 0x01.. never 0x00. The SD 1GB is more crazy... CMD0 returns with 0x01 ..nice but the CMD55 response with 0x05... another times responde with 0xC1... and another ones response 0xF0 with a 0x5F in the next interation... Around internet have infos and examples, but a bit of confused. Here in my project, I must use 1GB card and I´m trying with a MicroSD with a SD Adapter (I think that this is not the problem). Please any help are apreciate! Regards PS - my problem like the problem from this guy http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2365897/initializing-sd-card-in-spi-issues but his solution don´t solved my problem.. The SD1GB returns only 0x01 ever...

  • Chainload boot of Ubuntu installed on 32GB SD card from legacy Grub boot on USB

    - by Gary Darsey
I have Ubuntu installed on a 32 GB SD card (in the Storage Expansion slot on an Acer Aspire One) with Grub2 installed in the same partition. I boot into legacy Grub on a USB drive and would like to boot by chainloading Grub2 from Grub (kernel/initrd or symlink booting would also be fine), but I haven't figured out how to do this from legacy Grub CLI. Output from blkid for this partition is /dev/mmcblk0p1: LABEL="Ubuntu" UUID="7ceb9fa7-238c-4c5d-bb8e-2c655652ddec" TYPE='ext4" / fdisk -lu information Boot indicator ID 83. Is there any way get Grub2 to chainload? How do I set root with UUID in legacy Grub? I prefer to boot from USB. Would Grub2 on USB (copying the grub.cfg generated during installation) be an option?

  • How do I EFI boot Zenbook Prime UX31A from built-in card reader?

    - by Richard Ayotte
How do I EFI boot Zenbook Prime UX31A from built-in card reader? Ubuntu 12.10 64bit has been copied onto an a SD card which I'm trying to boot from. When I power on my Zenbook and press ESC, the SD card isn't an option. There is an "Add boot option" in the BIOS but it requires a few a things that I'm not quite sure of. Add boot option - I guess any identifier works here. I've been entering ubuntu. Select Filesystem - The only option available is PCI(1F|2)\DevicePath(Type 3, SubType 12)HD(Part1,Sig787e6287-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx) Path for boot option - I've been entering ubuntu:\EFI\BOOT\BOOTx64.EFI Then I select Create and the new boot option appears in the boot menu but it doesn't work.

  • SD Card only mounted after a reboot

    - by hattenn
I have a Kingston 2GB MicroSD and I plug it in via an inconix MicroSD Adapter to the internal card reader of my Samsung N210 Netbook with Ubuntu 10.10, but it doesn't show up. Only if I reboot the system when the card's plugged in it shows up. Why does it need a reboot for mounting? sudo fdisk -l gives the output below. But I can only see the drive when I reboot the computer while the card's plugged. • Partition is missing in /dev

    - by haimg
I'm having a strange problem since I moved from Centos5 to Centos6. I have three disks, first two are used as a RAID1, and third one is a stand-alone backup disk that is not listed in /etc/fstab (it is mounded when needed and then unmounted). My problem: After a boot, /dev/sdc exists but /dev/sdc1 does not. Also, the links in /dev/disks are also absent for the first partition of sdc. Disk itself is fine, and if I hot-remove it and plug it back in, /dev/sdc1 appears ok and everything is working. My question: What subsystem manages auto-discovery of disks, partitions, etc. during the boot process (e.g. what creates /dev/disks/by-label)? How do I configure it to scan /dev/sdc too and create all relevant files and links in /dev ? Edit: Here's the relevant part of dmesg output (the only place sdc appears). It does list sdc1, but it's not in /dev! sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] 1953525168 512-byte logical blocks: (1.00 TB/931 GiB) sd 3:0:0:0: [sdc] 976773168 512-byte logical blocks: (500 GB/465 GiB) sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA sd 3:0:0:0: [sdc] Write Protect is off sd 3:0:0:0: [sdc] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 sd 3:0:0:0: [sdc] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA sdb: sdc: sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] 1953525168 512-byte logical blocks: (1.00 TB/931 GiB) sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Write Protect is off sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA sda: DMAR:[DMA Read] Request device [00:1e.0] fault addr 361bc000 DMAR:[fault reason 06] PTE Read access is not set sdb1 sdb2 sdb3 sdc1 sda1 sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI disk sd 3:0:0:0: [sdc] Attached SCSI disk sda2 sda3 sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Attached SCSI disk

  • What are some programming techniques for converting SD images to HD images

    - by Dr Dork
I'm taking programming class and instructor loves to work with images so most of our assignments involve manipulating raw RGB image data. One of our assignments is to implement a standard image converter that converts SD images to HD images and vice versa. I always take advantage of these types of assignments to go a little beyond what we were asked to do, so I added a basic anti-aliasing process that uses the average pixel color of the 3x3 surrounding pixels to improve the converted image. While it helps a bit, the resulting image still doesn't look good, which is ok because it's not expected to for the assignment. I've learned that converting an SD to HD images has shown to be much harder than down sampling to SD from HD just because SD to HD effectively involves increasing resolution when it is not there. Obviously, it is hard to create pixels from nothing, but I'd like enhance my anti-aliasing to something that provides better results when upscaling an image. Most of the techniques I find and read on the internet are far beyond my level of image processing and programming. Can anybody suggest any better methods or processes to create good HD content from SD content that may be within my programming skill level? I know that's a difficult thing to gauge since you don't know me, but perhaps knowing that I can write c++ code to read in raw RGB data and upscale/downscale it with simple average-anti-aliasing will give you an idea. Thanks in advance for all your help!
