  • What does this ssh error mean?

    This is my last resort. I've been trying to figure out the problem here for hours. Here's the deal: I have copied my private key from machine #1 onto machine #2. Machine #1 is able to connect via ssh to a server with my public key just fine, but machine #2 gives the following output, when trying to connect to the server: $ ssh -vvv -i /home/kevin/.ssh/kev_rsa [email protected] -p 22312 OpenSSH_5.3p1 Debian-3ubuntu6, OpenSSL 0.9.8k 25 Mar 2009 debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config debug1: Applying options for * debug2: ssh_connect: needpriv 0 debug1: Connecting to 192.168.1.244 [192.168.1.244] port 22312. debug1: Connection established. debug3: Not a RSA1 key file /home/kevin/.ssh/kev_rsa. debug2: key_type_from_name: unknown key type '-----BEGIN' debug3: key_read: missing keytype debug3: key_read: missing whitespace debug3: key_read: missing whitespace debug3: key_read: missing whitespace debug3: key_read: missing whitespace ... Permission denied (publickey). There is obviously more debug output that I have omitted, and I can provide upon request. I am convinced however that it doesn't like my private key file. I also had a suspicion that it has to do with how I copied it from machine #1 to machine #2. I copy/pasted the text from the private key onto a flash drive. This might be the problem, however, when I duplicated this method on another working private key file, and did a diff on the original, to the copy/pasted one, they are identical. I've been struggling with this. If I could just get a little more information on why it doesn't like my key, I could fix it I'm sure. Anyone have any ideas on this? Is there some meta-data somewhere that tells ssh that a file is in fact an RSA key?

    Hello, I have jquery tabs like <ul id="tabsList"> <li><a href="#tab-1">Name 1</a></li> <li><a href="#tab-2">Name 2</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.google.com/">Name 3</a></li> </ul> <div id="tab-1">content 1</div> <div id="tab-2">content 2</div> the first two tabs load the respective divs. But the third one should go to google.com, instead it does nothing. It just adds http://example.com/index.html#ui-tabs-[object Object] to the url. I am developing a wordpress plugin and the admin page needs a tab interface. I tested this in a local server and not working update: i don't want to load google.com inside the page. It should open the webpage in new tab/window like ordinary links do.

  • How to capture shift-tab in vim

    I want to use shift-tab for auto completion and shifting code blocks visually. I have been referring to Make_Shift-Tab_work . That link talks about mapping ^[[Z to shift-tab . But i don't get ^[[Z when i press shift-tab. i just get a normal tab in that case. It then talks about using xmodmap -pke | grep 'Tab' to map tab keys. According to that the output should be keycode 23 = Tab or keycode 23 = Tab ISO_Left_Tab However i get keycode 22 = Tab KP_Tab if i use xmodmap -e 'keycode 22 = Tab ISO_Left_Tab' and after that xmodmap -pke | grep 'Tab', I still get keycode 22 = Tab KP_Tab This means running xmodmap -e 'keycode 22 = Tab ISO_Left_Tab' has no effect. In the end the link mentions using xev to see what X recieves when i press shift-tab. But i dont have xev on my system. Is there any other way i can capture shift-tab in vim

  • How to store a public key in a machine-level RSA key container

    I'm having a problem using a machine level RSA key container when storing only the public key of a public/private key pair. The following code creates a public/private pair and extracts the public key from that pair. The pair and the public key are stored in separate key containers. The keys are then obtained from those key containers at which point they should be the same as the keys going into the containers. The code works when CspProviderFlags.UseDefaultKeyContainer is specified for CspParameters.Flags (i.e. the key read back out from the PublicKey container is the same), but when CspProviderFlags.UseMachineKeyStore is specified for CspParameters.Flags the key read back from PublicKey is different. Let's say for example I had the product key ABCDE-FGHIJ-KLMNO-PQRST-UVWXY, but I had no clue if was meant for Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 7 Home Premium, Vista Ultimate, or even Office 2010. Does Microsoft (or anyone for that matter) have any kind of tool that I could paste the key into and get a result that identifies the software product the key is meant for (or at least a good estimate)? Note: I have searched and searched many times on the Internet, but the only results I ever find are how to recover a lost product key by using something like Nirsoft ProduKey. This is not what I am looking for.

  • How to recover Windows Vista product key?

    Two years ago I've bought asus laptop with Windows Vista preinstalled. I also received recovery dvd with it. Now, I want to reinstall Windows and fully format the hard drive. However, the sticker with Windows product key under the laptop is unreadable. I tried recovering the key with ProduKey and similar software but they show another product key - it is different than the one from the sticker (I checked on another asus laptop and on my dell laptop). Do you know if I it is possible to reinstall the operating system with the product key obtained from ProduKey? If not, how can I retrieve the product key? It seems stupid that it was only placed on the sticker that is destroyed after some time if you frequently hold the laptop on your lap. I've tried ProduKey and Recover Keys and they show the same key. However, it's not the one from the sticker. Thanks in advance for help.

In my .emacs file I have the following: (setq default-tab-width 4) I've also tried: (set-default tab-width 4) Either way, when I open emacs and try to tab, it inserts two spaces. Am I doing something wrong? It almost seems like its not seeing my .emacs file. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

    I have a network with DHCP enabled, and also a computer that dual boots operating systems and has different SSH keys on each (and yes, I would like to keep different keys on each rather than copying the same identity/private key to each). Because the IP address does not change between operating systems because the MAC address is the same, when connecting to ssh, even when not using the IP address but the hostname via DNS/mDNS, I get the warning: Warning: the RSA host key for 'hostname' differs from the key for the IP address '192.168.1.172' Offending key for IP in /Users/user/.ssh/known_hosts:37 Matching host key in /Users/user/.ssh/known_hosts:38 Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? How can I surpress the warning when the hostname differs from the IP address for that hostname, but retain the ability to check host keys are the same for each hostname? (each OS has a unique hostname)

  • Finding the owner of an AWS access key + secret key pair

    I would like to have a simple solution (possibly in 1-3 plain API calls to AWS) to find the owner of an AWS access key. I have the password of the "root" AWS account and of course I can manage the users and credentials through IAM, but we have a lot of users and I don't want to look at them one by one looking for the owner of the key. So basically I have a working access key + secret key pair (in fact a couple of them), but I do not know which user's key is it and what rights are on it. What is the easiest way to do this?     I have some questions regarding generating keys for ssh access: (1) Supposed there are two computers running ssh server service and I have generated a pair of key files on computer A and copy the public file to computer B. Is it true that this is only a one-way key: We only gave computer A permission to access computer B, not gave computer B permission to access computer A? If I now want to ssh from computer B to computer A, must I generat another pair of key files on computer B and copy the public file to computer A? (2) If I would like to connect a single local computer to several remote servers, is it to generate a common pair of key files only once on the local and copy the same public file to the remote servers, or to generate different pair of key files on the local for different remote servers? (3) If I would like to connect several local computers to a single remote server, when copying the public files from different local computers to the remote server, is it to combine them together into a single authorized_keys file or store them in different authorized_keys files? (4) If there are several servers shared the same file system by, for example, NFS, how to generate keys and arrange the key files for accessing from one server to the other? Also how to still generate keys and arrange the key files for a local computer to access anyone of the servers? All the machines above are Linux.Please provide examples and commands in your reply so that I can better understand how to solve the problems. Thanks and regards!

  • Bash Shell Hangs on ?+Tab-complete

    I often use tab completion in Bash when completing directories, but I find that it hangs for an unacceptable amount of time if I accidentally include a question mark in the directory. I'd like to know why and how to prevent it if possible. Here's the scenario: I start a command and use the ~ key to represent home: ls ~?Desktop/co Oops! I held down the Shift for a split-second too long. I had intended for ? to be /. But (oh no!) muscle memory has already kicked in. I've hit the Tab before I noticed the mistake. Now I'm stuck waiting for the shell to beep angrily at me. Usually a minute or two. What happened? Why did the question mark cause it to hang and eventually beep? Any way to stop it from hanging?

    Can anyone provide a reference or explain how the icons to the alt-tab list is populated? I would like to specify some icons for some programs that do not have icons, e.g. xterm. I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 with Gnome 2 (Ubuntu Classic) and metacity as the window manager. I did see this thread that mentions /usr/share/pixmap/, but if I use cp gnome-terminal.xpm xterm.xpm the icon was not populated in the alt-tab icon list (even after a logout/login). I do see that the icon is populated when I added the xterm command to the Program Menu.

    My app uses a tab bar controller. In the user documentation, I'm not sure what name to use for a view that lives under a tab. For example, the app has a Settings tab. In the user documentation, I have a sentence that goes something like this: This threshold can be adjusted in the Settings tab. "Settings tab" is not terribly user-friendly. What would be a better term than "tab"? I've looked though Apple's Human Interface Guideline, but I can't find what would be the official user-friendly term for "view that lives under a tab".

I tend to have 20 or so windows open at one time and I frequently need to alt-tab to the 7th or 8th window on the stack but it doesn't work the same anymore. Does anyone know how to put back the old behavior, so that alt-tab-tab-tab... goes through the whole list in most-recent to least-recent order?

  • Prevent Windows Key from Opening Start Menu in Windows 7

    I'd like to be able to stop the Windows Key from activating the Start Menu on Windows 7. I don't want to disable the Windows Key completely. I'd like Ctrl + Esc to still open the Start Menu. I know that you can use AutoHotKey to disable the Windows Key completely. The reason I want this functionality is that I have a lot of shortcut keys linked to the Windows key and this often results in accidentally opening the start menu.

  • Eclipse's Visual Studio Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab Equivalent

    In Visual Studio, I always use Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab to navigate between documents. I see that Eclipse has Ctrl+F6 to navigate between editors, but this isn't nearly the same behavior. The difference being, pressing it once and then again will get you moving back and forth between two files, whereas in VS, it will cause you to navigate forward based on the tab order in the editor. Any ideas on how I can replicate VS's behavior?

    I'm pretty new to jquery, but I have a tab structure working and make a $.getJSON call to retrieve the JSON results from the backend. Now, I have 3 tabs: Tab1, Tab2 and Tab3. All the three tabs have the same divs but different content. The content shows up just fine in the first tab which is shown by default, but on clicking the 2nd tab, I make the same $.getJSON call and retrieve the JSON just fine, the same HTML is being constructed on the fly and set in the DIV within the tab but it is not being displayed... Any pointers??

I’m coming with an issue that many of you will find trivial but I’m bashing my head against it for too long time and I can’t seems to find any clue on the internet. As a total scrubs with JavaScript, I’m trying to use JQuery.ui smartmodal windows (v 1.8.rc1) for displaying two football teams in two separate tabs. Like France in Tab(0) and England in Tab(1). When I open this modal window, the first tab (France) is always opened by default. Everything’s fine until here : I’m trying to improve this modal window by remembering what was the last Tab the user was looking when he closed the modal, for reopening it (in spite of the first tab, by default) when the user will reopen this modal latter on. I’ve already tried to use the “selecting & loading a jquery tab programatically » method but without any kind of success, and I’m slowly running out of options (and time). Thanks for reading me, if you have any idea on how can I use a parameter in the smartmodal call, that would greatly help me.
