• Blacklisting specific roads from Google Maps/Mapquest?

  I'm looking to build a custom view of a Google Maps type of application for providing directions, but I need to blacklist specific roads or sections of roads. I'm not talking just avoiding highways or Toll Roads. I've been looking through the Google Maps and Mapquest APIs but haven't found anything of use yet. Initially I'm just looking to manually blacklist specific roads that I do not want to drive on, but eventually would like there to be some sort of automatic detection or suggestion. Is there built-in functionality to support blacklisting specific roads in Google Maps or Mapquest? Or is there any known way to hack it together?

• Yahoo flagging mail as spam when using relay server

  I'm using Postfix to relay mail from my site to my mail server. Mail is received properly at my Gmail and Hotmail accounts - only Yahoo is the problem. The Yahoo mail headers state: Received-SPF: none (mta1133.mail.mud.yahoo.com: domain of [email protected] does not designate permitted sender hosts) In contrast, the Gmail headers state: Received-SPF: pass (google.com: domain of [email protected] designates 74.50.xxx.xxx as permitted sender) client-ip=74.50.xxx.xxx; Reverse DNS is set up correctly, as is my SPF record. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to solve the Yahoo problem (short of contacting Yahoo, as this is a brand new mail server)? FYI - domainkeys are on the origin server and are showing as passed. Thanks

• Google Maps rendering locally but not in live environment

  I have a page that renders a simple google map for a specified location. This map renders without any problems at all when I run it locally on localhost, however, when I deploy this code to our live web servers (using our LIVE google API key for the appropriate domain) it fails to render, and upon putting a series of alerts within the javascript on the page, it appears that the 'Initialize' method (which should be called within body onLoad) is not being called. When I view the HTML source that is rendered on the live server it appears exactly as per the local version of the site (including the call to initialize() within the body onLoad event), albeit with the different maps API key. I have output the host (alert(window.location.host);) to ensure that the key I generated via the google maps api site, corresponds exactly to the live server, which it does. Does anyone have any ideas why it would be working locally but not when deployed to the live servers? The live site is hosted on 2 load-balanced web servers.   I have a pipe that filters an RSS feed and removes any item that contains "stopwords" that I've chosen. Currently I've manually created a filter for each stopword in the pipe editor, but the more logical way is to read these from a file. I've figured out how to read the stopwords out of the text file, but how do I apply the filter operator to the feed, once for every stopword? The documentation states explicitly that operators can't be applied within the loop construct, but hopefully I'm missing something here.

  I have implemented much of my game logic right now, but still create my maps with nasty for-loops on-the-fly to be able to work with something. Now I wanted to move on and to do some research on how to (un)serialize this data. (I do not search for a map editor - I am speaking of the map file itself) For now I am looking for suggestions and resources, how to implement a custom file format for my maps which should provide the following functionality (based on MoSCoW method): Must have Extensibility and backward compatibility Handling of different layers Metadata on whether a tile is solid or can be passed through Special serialization of entities/triggers with associated properties/metadata Could have Some kind of inclusion of the tileset to prevent having scattered files/tilesets I am developing with C++ (using SDL) and targetting only Windows. • 2D game big background images for maps

  Update: this question is general, not specific to Sprite Kit or a single language/platform. I'm toying with Sprite Kit with an idea to make a 2D side-scroller. Now the backgrounds for the maps are going to be hand-drawn and surely bigger than retina display, so the maps could span more than 1 screen in both axis. I imagine loading such a huge image could mean trouble and I don't plan to use tiling. I'm not sure how Sprite Kit splits images bigger than max texture size, if it does. I could split the images myself and use more sprites for each part of the background. What is the usual way to handle this?

• Is there any reason to allow Yahoo! Slurp to crawl my site?

  I thought a year or more ago Yahoo! would be using another search engine for results, and no longer using their own Slurp bot. However, a couple of the sites I manage Yahoo! Slurp continues to crawl pages, and seems to ignore the Gone status code when returned (as it keeps coming back). Is there any reason why I wouldn't want to block Yahoo! Slurp via robots.txt or by IP (since it tends to ignore robots.txt in some cases anyways)? I've confirmed that when the bot does hit it is from Yahoo! IPs, so I believe this is a legit instance of the bot. Is Yahoo Search the same as Bing Search now? is a related question, but I don't think it completely answers whether one should add a new block of the bot.

  Hello, I wanna made "WiFi maps" and I have problem with do that, I wanna have 3 icons OPEN/WEP/WPA, and a lot of markers, and every marker with own infowindow, and only 1 infowindow on top, so when I will click #1 and then #2 then #1 will hide. And if I will have XXXX markers there will be problem with them on map in zoom out, there is possible to made it like when is much markers in one place all will not show in zoom out but in zoom in yes?   hi I am building a new web site in asp.net, and im newbie with using maps. For my web site i will need the following functionality: display a map of specific location. display route map between two or more location calculate distance between 2 locations. I found most of the functionality at the Bing Maps interactive SDK site: and it works fine. My questions are: does it cost money to use this SDK ? for the third task, i understand that i will have to use MapPoint Services. (is there another way??) does it code money to use it? • Externalising Google Maps InfoWindow Content When Marker Is Selected

  Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows whether it is possible to take the content of a Google Maps InfoWindow and place it in an external DIV when the marker on the map is clicked? I've had a good dig around both the API docs and Google to see if I can find any examples or information relating to this but have had no luck so far. However I've not had a lot of time since I got asked about this one so I have had to skim a bit so it could be that I've missed something but nothing seems to be jumping out at me. Essentially I'd just like to know if this is indeed possible so that I don't waste anymore time researching something that is currently not possible with Google Maps. I want these metrics displayed on the map but then I want a link or button to view a full page description. I know that this is possible with Google Maps but I don't know a lot about Open Street Maps or other options. I am expecting around 50,000 views a day and am curious as to what the best option would be.

• Keep a Google Maps v3 Map Hidden, show when needed

  Is there a way of preventing Google Maps (JS, v3) of being displayed from the get-go ? I do some pre-processing and would like to show my 'Loading' spinner until everything is good to go (more eloquently put, hide the map -- e.g. the container div -- until all preprocessing is complete -- at which point, show the map). Hooking to the map's 'idle' event doesn't help that much, since the map is already displayed when this event hits. I know that the container div gets inline-styled by GMaps after loading, my first idea is to clear out the style attr (whilst listening to 'idle'), but it would be interesting to see if there is a way of creating the map and not displaying it until all pre-processing is done. Maybe by using an argument to the new google.maps.Map constructor, or a MapOption ? Any thoughts on this ? Thank you in advance !

  I am working on a project where I am going to create a map over a specific area, and have some points-of-interest included. Thinking of the ones already included in Google Maps. My first thought was that this could be done in the Google Maps API, but I've never worked with if before so therefor I have some questions about it's limitations and capability. Can I limit the map to one specific area? Can I filter the points-of-interest? Ex. only gas stations and hotels etc. Thats about it to get me started at least. Thanks!

I've been working with it for about 8 hours straight and I'm tearing my hair out - I just can not get maps to tile, I can't figure out how to do this. • Creating yahoo pipe from google cal feed results in german language headings [closed]

  I'm trying to create a Yahoo pipe which combines 4 google calendar RSS feeds into a single feed sorted by date. I've created a yahoo pipe to do this (Which can be found here) The problem is, the headings all appear in German!
