• Giving Zend Navigation Pages Multiple ACL Privileges

  I'm using Zend_Navigation and am trying to integrate it with Zend_Acl. Each page in the navigation has a privilege attribute. What I can't determine is how to define multiple privileges for a single page. Use case: A page that is for managing users. I want to display that page (in navigation) if the current signed in user's role has add, edit, or delete privileges on the Users resource. Example entry in the navigation XML: <admin_users> <label>Users</label> <route>default</route> <controller>admin</controller> <action>users</action> <resource>Users</resource> <privilege>add,edit,delete</privilege> </admin_users> Using a comma-separated list as above doesn't lend the desired behavior.

I plan to use Zend Server only to do URL profiling to know function level performance of my code.   Hello, When I call the method findDependentRowset, the returning rowset contains all the rows in the dependent table, and not only the rowsets that matches the reference. Hoping someone could explain this, since I was of the assumption that findDependentRowset would only return rowset matching my 'rule'? I have the following DbTable Models: class Model_DbTable_Advertisement extends Zend_Db_Table_Abstract { protected $_name = 'Advertisements'; protected $_primary = 'Id'; protected $_dependentTables = array ( 'Model_DbTable_Image', ); } class Model_DbTable_Image extends Zend_Db_Table_Abstract { protected $_name = 'Images'; protected $_primary = 'Id'; protected $_referenceMap = array( 'Images' => array( 'column' => 'AdvertisementId', 'refColumn' => 'Id', 'refTableClass' => 'Model_DbTable_Advertisement', ) ); } Now when i execute the following: (Simplified for Question sake) $model = new Model_DbTable_Advertisement(); $rowSet = $model->fetchAll(); $row = $rowSet->current(); $dRow = $row->findDependentRowset('Model_DbTable_Image'); I would expect $dRow to only contain 'Images' that has the same advertisementId as $row, but instead i receive all rows in the Images table.   Hi, I'm trying to create a custom form element which extends Zend_Form_Element_Text with a validator (so I don't have to keep setting up the validator when I use certain elements). Anyway, I'm having trouble passing $maxChars variable to it when I instantiate it in my Main form. I've provided my shortened code below This is my custom element below class My_Form_Custom_Element extends Zend_Form_Element_Text { public $maxChars public function init() { $this->addValidator('StringLength', true, array(0, $this->maxChars)) } public function setProperties($maxChars) { $this->maxChars= $maxChars; } } This is where I instantiate my custom form element. class My_Form_Abc extends Zend_Form { public function __construct($options = null) { parent::__construct($options); $this->setName('abc'); $customElement = new My_Form_Custom_Element('myCustomElement'); $customElement->setProperties(100); //**<----This is where i set the $maxChars** $submit = new Zend_Form_Element_Submit('submit'); $submit -> setAttrib('id', 'submitbutton'); $this->addElements(array($customElement ,$submit)); } } When I try to pass '100' using $customElement-setProperties(100) in my Form, it doesnt get passed properly to my StringLength validator. I assume it's because the validator is getting called in Init? How can I fix this?

• What freely available software is equipped for editing PDF Bookmarks?

  I know of PDFMod, which I rather like except it has one flaw, I can't seem to be able to add bookmarks before pre-existing bookmarks (see the attached image if this is unclear). I've looked at this question: - Which programs can I use to edit PDF files? That question does not deal specifically with bookmark editing, neither does it specify which software is freely available and which isn't. I should add that I'm incompetent when it comes to installing software so any software that's not available in the Software Centre requires you to detail exactly how I'm meant to install it. Plus, I would specifically like a software that can handle large (like 80 MB) PDF files without lagging like crazy or closing down.

• Getting the last User ID in Zend Framework

  Using MySQL query browser, I manually made a table called users and input some date in the fields. I set the primary key to id and set it to auto increment. There are 3 rows, the highest id is 3. I then made the following class in the method directory to call upon the data in the table etc. class Application_Model_DbTable_User extends Zend_Db_Table_Abstract { protected $_name = 'user'; public function getLatestUserId() { $id = $this->getAdapter()->lastInsertId(); return $id; } } In the controller I do the following which gets the value generated by the method and lets the view access it: $usersDbModel = new Application_Model_DbTable_User(); $lastUserId = $usersDbModel->getLatestUserId(); $this->view->lastUserId = $lastUserId; In the view I then echo it to display it to the user: echo $this->lastUserId; However, even though my last id in the users table is 3. It displays 0. I have also tried: public function getLatestUserId() { $sql = 'SELECT max(id) FROM user'; $query = $this->query($sql); $result = $query->fetchAll(); return $result; } But this just throws out a server error. What have I done wrong? Am I missing something? Is there another way of doing this?

• pdf creation software, for docx and odt

  Ok, I have a fairly large collection of docx and odt files. Minutes from meetings etc. Now I want to convert them to pdfs for distrobution. and also into one combined pdf. At the momement I'm using Adobe Acrobat 8 (Pro iirc). and on another machine I'm using foxit pdf printer. To do this I have to print them each individually to pdfs. and then I can combine them with Acrobat, cos acrobat doesn't support conversion stright from docx or odt to pdf - only via printing. Now this is annoying if you have to do it on a regular basis, since i don't keep the pdfs around (I have the orignals source controlled :-D) cos they go out of date pretty quick as I often have to go back and modify old versions (like ridiculously often). e Eg When I find out I've got something in the minutes wrong or I want to add more context for clarifaction. Anyone got a better solution?

  i only know wordpress and start to seek another alternative framework, zend. i heard hearsay that zend's better from others framework. if you're "a serous coder", or try to act like one, you need to use it on building your web app. some said zend is better. But it's subjective. It's fast ans secure.   Is there a good non-bloated PDF viewer for (Ubuntu) Linux that supports tabs? I don't want to use Acrobat Reader because it is slow and takes much memory, and my computer isn't the fastest. I know the alternative readers evince and foxit, but they don't support opening different PDF files in tabs. (foxit has that feature on Windows, but the Linux version 1.1, which I just tried, doesn't have it.) For evince, I know many people would like this functionality, but they get ridiculed by Ubuntu people (see here), who say that tabs are the task of a window manager. If that is the case, how can I put all evince windows into one in GNOME?

  what is the easiest(and fastest) way to perform this kind of transformation: "Data in XML" to "Some MS Word 2003 Supported format" to PDF using Java? My first guess was to fill the template with XML data (using Placeholders for example) and then save it and convert it to PDF. But I can't just put placeholders to DOC files, and I can't convert from some other Word formats to PDF... My primary task is to convert XML Data to PDF allowing users to change the PDF on-demand. The best way to change the PDF on-demand seems to give user some kind of MS Word readable document, and then convert it back. There are 2 main problems with this task: 1) I can't use OpenOffice for conversion. 2) System should be able to convert ~1 page of table-based document per 1 second on 2Ghz Core. 3) RTF does not provide enough styling, so some more complex format should be used.   Hi, I am trying out Prince with the Princely plugin, which is supposed to format templates that have the .pdf into a PDF generator. Here is my controller: class TodoController < ApplicationController def show_date @date = Date.today @campaigns = Campaign.all @contacts = Contact.all @contacts.each do |contact| end respond_to do |format| format.html format.pdf do render :pdf => "filename", :stylesheets => ["application", "prince"], :layout => "pdf" end end end end I changed the routes.db to include the following: map.connect ':controller/:action.:format' map.todo "todo/today", :controller => "todo", :action => "show_date" My expected behavior is when I enter todo/today.pdf, it tries to execute show_date, but renders according to the princely plugin. Right now, it says cannot find action. What do I need to do to fix this?
