  • iPhone SDK : UIImageView - Collapsing animation

    - by chris.o.
Hi All, I'm trying to animating across the screen a horizontal bar with a color gradient. For simplicity, I chose to make a png of the fully extended bar, assign it to a UIImageView, and (attempt to) animate resizing of it using a UIView animation. The problem is that in the "closed" state of the Image, the portion of the image showing is not the part that I want. The image is arranged so that from L to R, a white to red color gradient occurs. The right side (about 20 pixels) is solid red and is the part I want to show when the bar is "collapsed". I'm trying to extend the image out by about 100 pixels to its full width. I referenced the "Buy Now" button example for my code as it seemed relevant" http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1669804/uibutton-appstore-buy-button-animation My code: [UIView beginAnimations:@"barAnimation" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.6]; CGRect barFrame = bookBar.bounds; if (fExtendBar) { barFrame.origin.x -= 100; barFrame.size.width += 100; } else { barFrame.origin.x += 100; barFrame.size.width -= 100; } bookBar.frame = barFrame; [UIView commitAnimations]; I feel like this should be possible, maybe by setting an "offsetOfImage" to display in the UIImageView, but I can't seem to make it work. Also, I've noticed that the behavior is kind of consistent with what happens in Interface Builder when you resize an image. Then again, I would think there would be a way to override this behavior programmatically. Any suggestions (including other approaches) are welcome. Thanks, chris.o.

  • CALayer won't display

    - by Paul from Boston
I'm trying to learn how to use CALayers for a project and am having trouble getting sublayers to display. I created a vanilla View-based iPhone app in XCode for these tests. The only real code is in the ViewController which sets up the layers and their delegates. There is a delegate, DelegateMainView, for the viewController's view layer and a second different one, DelegateStripeLayer, for an additional layer. The ViewController code is all in awakeFromNib, - (void)awakeFromNib { DelegateMainView *oknDelegate = [[DelegateMainView alloc] init]; self.view.layer.delegate = oknDelegate; CALayer *newLayer = [CALayer layer]; DelegateStripeLayer *sldDelegate = [[DelegateStripeLayer alloc] init]; newLayer.delegate = sldDelegate; [self.view.layer addSublayer:newLayer]; [newLayer setNeedsDisplay]; [self.view.layer setNeedsDisplay]; } The two different delegates are simply wrappers for the CALayer delegate method, drawLayer:inContext:, i.e., - (void)drawLayer:(CALayer *)layer inContext:(CGContextRef)context { CGRect bounds = CGContextGetClipBoundingBox(context); ... do some stuff here ... CGContextStrokePath(context); } each a bit different. The layer, view.layer, is drawn properly but newLayer is never drawn. If I put breakpoints in the two delegates, the program stops in DelegateMainView but never reaches DelegateStripeLayer. What am I missing here? Thanks.

  • pulling an UIImage from a UITextView or UILabel gives white image

    - by user293139
    Hello all, I need to grab an UIImage from a UITextView or UILabel. I've got a method that will pull an image successfully from other types of views ( [UIViewController view], MKMapView, UIButtons) but I am just getting a white rect for my UITextView. I've been banging my head against the wall for a while and suspect something really, really basic. many thanks! @interface TaskAccomplishmentViewController : UIViewController { MKMapView *mapView; UILabel *timeLeftText; UITextView *challengeText; UIButton *successButton; -(void) setChallangeImageToImageFromChallenge { // works // [currChallenge setChallengeImage:[UIImageUtils grabImageFromView:mapView]]; // [currChallenge setChallengeImage:[UIImageUtils grabImageFromView:[self view]]]; // [currChallenge setChallengeImage:[UIImageUtils grabImageFromView:successButton]]; //doesn't work // [currChallenge setChallengeImage:[UIImageUtils grabImageFromView:timeLeftText]]; [currChallenge setChallengeImage:[UIImageUtils grabImageFromView:challengeText]]; } and the grabImage from a UIView code +(UIImage *)grabImageFromView: (UIView *) viewToGrab { UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(viewToGrab.bounds.size); [[viewToGrab layer] renderInContext:UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()]; UIImage *viewImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); return viewImage; }

  • Django: Unicode Filenames with ASCII headers?

    - by TheLizardKing
I have a list of strangely encoded files: 02 - Charlie, Woody and You/Study #22.mp3 which I suppose isn't so bad but there are a few particular characters which Django OR nginx seem to be snagging on. >>> test = u'02 - Charlie, Woody and You/Study #22.mp3' >>> test u'02 - Charlie, Woody and You\uff0fStudy #22.mp3' I am using nginx as a reverse proxy to connect to django's built in webserver (still in development stages) and postgresql for my database. My database and tables are all en_US.UTF-8 and I am using pgadmin3 to view my tables outside of django. My issue goes a little beyond my title, firstly how should I be saving possibly whacky filenames in my database? My current method is 'path': smart_unicode(path.lstrip(MUSIC_PATH)), 'filename': smart_unicode(file) and when I pprint out the values they do show u'whateverthecrap' I am not sure if that is how I should be doing it but assuming it is now I have issues trying to spit out the download. My download view looks something like this: def song_download(request, song_id): song = get_object_or_404(Song, pk=song_id) url = u'/static_music/%s/%s' % (song.path, song.filename) print url response = HttpResponse() response['X-Accel-Redirect'] = url response['Content-Type'] = 'audio/mpeg' response['Content-Disposition'] = "attachment; filename=test.mp3" return response and most files will download but when I get to 02 - Charlie, Woody and You/Study #22.mp3 I receive this from django: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\uff0f' in position 118: ordinal not in range(128), HTTP response headers must be in US-ASCII format. How can I use an ASCII acceptable string if my filename is out of bounds? 02 - Charlie, Woody and You\uff0fStudy #22.mp3 doesn't seem to work... EDIT 1 I am using Ubuntu for my OS.

  • iphone app scroll view is horizontal but i want it vertical - how do i change this?

    - by Billy Jones
Hi Folks, Got this code for a viewscroller from the apple developers site. @synthesize scrollView1, scrollView2; const CGFloat kScrollObjHeight = 467.0; const CGFloat kScrollObjWidth = 320.0; const NSUInteger kNumImages = 6; (void)layoutScrollImages { UIImageView *view = nil; NSArray *subviews = [scrollView1 subviews]; // reposition all image subviews in a horizontal serial fashion CGFloat curXLoc = 0; for (view in subviews) { if ([view isKindOfClass:[UIImageView class]] && view.tag 0) { CGRect frame = view.frame; frame.origin = CGPointMake(curXLoc, 0); view.frame = frame; curXLoc += (kScrollObjWidth); } } // set the content size so it can be scrollable [scrollView1 setContentSize:CGSizeMake((kNumImages * kScrollObjWidth), [scrollView1 bounds].size.height)]; } it works brilliantly the images are rotated by pulling them left or right. but I want to pull the images up and down to change them. Can anyone help me out with this? this part in the code looks as if it controls the direction but i'm not sure how to change it. // reposition all image subviews in a horizontal serial fashion CGFloat curXLoc = 0; for (view in subviews) { if ([view isKindOfClass:[UIImageView class]] && view.tag 0) { CGRect frame = view.frame; frame.origin = CGPointMake(curXLoc, 0); view.frame = frame; curXLoc += (kScrollObjWidth); } } Any help most appreciated, thanks! • How to resize image to fit UITableView cell?

    - by stefanB
    How to fit UIImage into the cell of UITableView, UITableViewCell (?). Do you addSubview to cell or is there a way to resize cell.image or the UIImage before it is assigned to cell.image ? I want to keep the cell size default (whatever it is when you init with zero rectangle) and would like to add icon like pictures to each entry. Images are slightly bigger than the cell size (table row size). I think the code looks like this (from top of my head): UIImage * image = [[UIImage alloc] imageWithName:@"bart.jpg"]; cell = ... dequeue cell in UITableView data source (UITableViewController ...) cell.text = @"bart"; cell.image = image; What do I need to do to resize the image to fit the cell size? I've seen something like: UIImageView * iview = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]; iview.frame = CGRectMake(...); // or something similar [cell.contentView addSubview:iview] The above will add image to cell and I can calculate the size to fit it, however: I'm not sure if there is a better way, isn't it too much overhead to add UIImageView just to resize the cell.image ? Now my label (cell.text) needs to be moved as it is obscured by image, I've seen a solution where you just add the text as a label: Example: UILabel * text = [[UILable alloc] init]; text.text = @"bart"; [cell.contentView addSubview:iview]; [cell.contentView addSubview:label]; // not sure if this will position the text next to the label // edited original example had [cell addSubview:label], maybe that's the problem Could someone point me in correct direction? EDIT: Doh [cell.contentview addSubview:view] not [cell addSubview:view] maybe I'm supposed to look at this: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { UITableViewCell *cell = ...; CGRect frame = cell.contentView.bounds; UILabel *myLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:frame]; myLabel.text = ...; [cell.contentView addSubview:myLabel]; [myLabel release]; }

  • Custom Keyboard (iPhone), UIKeyboardDidShowNotification and UITableViewController

    - by Pascal
On an iPhone App, I've got a custom keyboard which works like the standard keyboard; it appears if a custom textfield becomes first responder and hides if the field resigns first responder. I'm also posting the Generic UIKeyboardWillShowNotification, UIKeyboardDidShowNotification and their hiding counterparts, like follows: NSMutableDictionary *userInfo = [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithCapacity:5]; [userInfo setObject:[NSValue valueWithCGPoint:self.center] forKey:UIKeyboardCenterBeginUserInfoKey]; [userInfo setObject:[NSValue valueWithCGPoint:shownCenter] forKey:UIKeyboardCenterEndUserInfoKey]; [userInfo setObject:[NSValue valueWithCGRect:self.bounds] forKey:UIKeyboardBoundsUserInfoKey]; [userInfo setObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseOut] forKey:UIKeyboardAnimationCurveUserInfoKey]; [userInfo setObject:[NSNumber numberWithDouble:thisAnimDuration] forKey:UIKeyboardAnimationDurationUserInfoKey]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] postNotificationName:UIKeyboardWillShowNotification object:nil userInfo:userInfo]; This code is working and I use it in UIViewController subclasses. Now since iPhone OS 3.0, UITableViewController automatically resizes its tableView when the system keyboards show and hide. I'm only now compiling against 3.0 and I thought that the controller should also resize the table if my custom keyboard appears, since I'm posting the same notification. However it doesn't. The table view controller is set as the delegate of the input fields. Does anyone have an idea why this might be the case? Has anyone implemented something similar successfully? I have standard input fields along the custom ones, so if the user changes the fields the standard keyboard hides and the custom one shows. It would be beneficial if the tableView didn't resize to full height and I didn't have to resize it back with a custom method.

  • Data Binding to an object in C#

    - by Allen
Objective-c/cocoa offers a form of binding where a control's properties (ie text in a textbox) can be bound to the property of an object. I am trying to duplicate this functionality in C# w/ .Net 3.5. I have created the following very simple class in the file MyClass.cs: class MyClass { private string myName; public string MyName { get { return myName; } set { myName = value; } } public MyClass() { myName = "Allen"; } } I also created a simple form with 1 textbox and 1 button. I init'd one instance of Myclass inside the form code and built the project. Using the DataSource Wizard in Vs2008, i selected to create a data source based on object, and selected the MyClass assembly. This created a datasource entity. I changed the databinding of the textbox to this datasource; however, the expected result (that the textbox's contents would be "allen") was not achieved. Further, putting text into the textbox is not updating the name property of the object. I know i'm missing something fundamental here. At some point i should have to tie my instance of the MyClass class that i initialized inside the form code to the textbox, but that hasn't occurred. Everything i've looked at online seems to gloss over using DataBinding with an object (or i'm missing the mark entirely), so any help is great appreciated. ----Edit--- Utilizing what i learned by the answers, i looked at the code generated by Visual Studio, it had the following: this.myClassBindingSource.DataSource = typeof(BindingTest.MyClass); if i comment that out and substitute : this.myClassBindingSource.DataSource = new MyClass(); i get the expected behavior. Why is the default code generated by VS like it is? Assuming this is more correct than the method that works, how should i modify my code to work within the bounds of what VS generated?

  • How do I keep a CALayer, sublayer of a CATiledLayer, from changing it's scale after a zoom ?

    - by David
I have a CATiledLayer that is used to display a PDF page (this CATiledLayer is the layer type of my UIView which is a subview of a UIScrollView). I want to add overlay markers on this page. So I add a sublayer to my CATiledLayer. This sublayer again hosts the different marker's layers and acts as a grouping layer. So graphically, I have: (keep in mind that I have multiple markers which are CALayers also, this is ascii art after all) pdf page (CATiledLayer) ---------------------- | CALayer | | +---------+ | | | +----+ | | | | |mker| | | | | +----+ | | | +---------+ | | | ---------------------- I have set up the canonical drawLayer:inContext: in my view for drawing the pdf. When I zoom to have more detail, the pdf gets rendered correctly, but the markers get scaled. No matter what I do to the bounds of the CALayer, my markers always become bigger and appear jagged. I would like to have the markers always the same size, as when they were initialized and first shown when the view was drawn. Is this possible ? or am I using a wrong approach ? Should I do special drawing for my contained CALayer in the drawLAyer:inContext: message ? As you see, there are things that I am missing to resolve my problem. Thank you for any help you provide.

  • .NET OwnerDraw ComboBox: Vista/7 themed DropDownList

    - by Stijn
I'm working on a custom ComboBox for a project, and have the basic painting working. One of the remaining things to do is make it look like the default ComboBox in Vista and 7, when the DropDownStyle is set to DropDownList (looks like a button instead of a regular ComboBox). I read much about VisualStyleRenderer, read ComboBox.cs and ComboBoxRenderer.cs, and tried to get it working. It works in the sense of, it does something. It just doesn't do what it's supposed to do. I also found an article about Vista themed Owner-Drawn Buttons, but it is in C++ (which would be a challenge on its own for me) and it seems like an awful lot of code. If anyone could supply either VB or C# code, that would be great. Below is my current code. Public Sub New() DrawMode = Windows.Forms.DrawMode.OwnerDrawFixed ItemHeight *= 2 DropDownStyle = ComboBoxStyle.DropDownList End Sub Protected Overrides Sub OnDrawItem(ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DrawItemEventArgs) If e.Index = -1 Then Return End If If Not (e.State = DrawItemState.Selected) Then e.DrawBackground() End If Dim brsh As Brush If (e.State And DrawItemState.Focus) = DrawItemState.Focus And (e.State And DrawItemState.Selected) = DrawItemState.Selected Then brsh = SystemBrushes.HighlightText Else brsh = SystemBrushes.ControlText End If e.DrawFocusRectangle() e.Graphics.DrawString(Items(e.Index), e.Font, brsh, e.Bounds) End Sub

  • How to keep text inside a circle using Cairo?

    - by miguelrios
    I a drawing a graph using Cairo (pycairo specifically) and I need to know how can I draw text inside a circle without overlapping it, by keeping it inside the bounds of the circle. I have this simple code snippet that draws a letter "a" inside the circle: ''' Created on May 8, 2010 @author: mrios ''' import cairo, math WIDTH, HEIGHT = 1000, 1000 #surface = cairo.PDFSurface ("/Users/mrios/Desktop/exampleplaces.pdf", WIDTH, HEIGHT) surface = cairo.ImageSurface (cairo.FORMAT_ARGB32, WIDTH, HEIGHT) ctx = cairo.Context (surface) ctx.scale (WIDTH/1.0, HEIGHT/1.0) # Normalizing the canvas ctx.rectangle(0, 0, 1, 1) # Rectangle(x0, y0, x1, y1) ctx.set_source_rgb(255,255,255) ctx.fill() ctx.arc(0.5, 0.5, .4, 0, 2*math.pi) ctx.set_source_rgb(0,0,0) ctx.set_line_width(0.03) ctx.stroke() ctx.arc(0.5, 0.5, .4, 0, 2*math.pi) ctx.set_source_rgb(0,0,0) ctx.set_line_width(0.01) ctx.set_source_rgb(255,0,255) ctx.fill() ctx.set_source_rgb(0,0,0) ctx.select_font_face("Georgia", cairo.FONT_SLANT_NORMAL, cairo.FONT_WEIGHT_BOLD) ctx.set_font_size(1.0) x_bearing, y_bearing, width, height = ctx.text_extents("a")[:4] print ctx.text_extents("a")[:4] ctx.move_to(0.5 - width / 2 - x_bearing, 0.5 - height / 2 - y_bearing) ctx.show_text("a") surface.write_to_png ("/Users/mrios/Desktop/node.png") # Output to PNG The problem is that my labels have variable amount of characters (with a limit of 20) and I need to set the size of the font dynamically. It must fit inside the circle, no matter the size of the circle nor the size of the label. Also, every label has one line of text, no spaces, no line breaks. Any suggestion?

  • How to improve the use of Delphi Frames

    - by Brian Frost
I've used frames in Delphi for years, and they are one of the most powerful features of the VCL, but standard use of them seems to have some risk such as: It's easy to accidentally move or edit the frame sub-components on a frame's host form without realising that you are 'tweaking' with the frame - I know this does not affect the original frame code, but it's generally not what you would want. When working with the frame you are still exposed to its sub-components for visual editing, even when that frame is years old and should not be touched. So I got to thinking.... Is there a way of 'grouping' components such that their positions are 'locked'? This would be useful for finished forms as well as frames. Often other developers return code to me where only the form bounds have changed and even they did not intend any change. Is there any way of turning a frame and its components into a single Delphi component? If so, the frame internals would be completely hidden and its useability would increase further. I'm interested in any thoughts... Brian.

  • Establishing Upper / Lower Bound in T-SQL Procedure

    - by Code Sherpa
Hi. I am trying to establish upper / lower bound in my stored procedure below and am having some problems at the end (I am getting no results where, without the temp table inner join i get the expected results). I need some help where I am trying to join the columns in my temp table #PageIndexForUsers to the rest of my join statement and I am mucking something up with this statement: INNER JOIN #PageIndexForUsers ON ( dbo.aspnet_Users.UserId = #PageIndexForUsers.UserId AND #PageIndexForUsers.IndexId >= @PageLowerBound AND #PageIndexForUsers.IndexId <= @PageUpperBound ) I could use feedback at this point - and, any advice on how to improve my procedure's logic (if you see anything else that needs improvement) is also appreciated. • Creating a UIImage from a rotated UIImageView...

    - by Magic Bullet Dave
I have a UIImageView with an image in it. I have rotated the image prior to display by setting the transform property of the UIImageView to CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(angle) where angle is the angle in radians. I want to be able to create another UIImage that corresponds to the rotated version that I can see in my view. I am almost there, by rotating the image context I get a rotated image: - (UIImage *) rotatedImageFromImageView: (UIImageView *) imageView { UIImage *rotatedImage; // Get image width, height of the bonuding rectangle CGRect boundingRect = [self getBoundingRectAfterRotation: imageView.bounds byAngle:angle]; // Create a graphics context the size of the boundinf rectangle UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(boundingRect.size); CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); // Rotate and translate the context CGAffineTransform ourTransform = CGAffineTransformIdentity; ourTransform = CGAffineTransformConcat(ourTransform, CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(angle)); CGContextConcatCTM(context, ourTransform); // Draw the image into the context CGContextDrawImage(context, CGRectMake(0, 0, imageView.image.size.width, imageView.image.size.height), imageView.image.CGImage); // Get an image from the context rotatedImage = [UIImage imageWithCGImage: CGBitmapContextCreateImage(context)]; // Clean up UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); return rotatedImage; } However the image is not rotated about its centre. I have tried all kinds of transforms concatenated with my rotate to get it to rotate around the centre but to no avail. Am I missing a trick? Is this even possible since I am rotating the context not the image? Getting desperate to make this work now, so any help would be appreciated. Dave

  • iOS iPad UIActionSheet Issue

    - by hart1994
I am currently developing an application which needs an option to 'share' using multiple services; such as email, twitter. To to this, I have a UIBarButtonItem coded in and when touched, it triggers this: UIActionSheet *sheet = [[UIActionSheet alloc] initWithTitle:@"" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:nil destructiveButtonTitle:nil otherButtonTitles:nil]; [sheet addButtonWithTitle:@"Email"]; [sheet addButtonWithTitle:@"Tweet"]; [sheet addButtonWithTitle:@"Cancel"]; sheet.cancelButtonIndex = sheet.numberOfButtons-1; [sheet showFromRect:self.view.bounds inView:self.view animated:YES]; [sheet release]; In conjunction with this to detect which button is selected: clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { if (buttonIndex == actionSheet.cancelButtonIndex) { return; } switch (buttonIndex) { case 0: { [self emailThis]; break; } case 1: { [self tweetThis]; break; } } This works a treat on the iPhone. But unfortunately it displays incorrectly on the iPad. It looks like it is trying to display the UIPopoverController, but it is positioned center of the navbar with practically no height. I have looked into using the UIPopoverController, but I cannot seem to find out how to use it with buttons. Is there anyway I can adapt the code above to properly display the buttons, as it's trying to already. Many thanks, Ryan PS: I'm new to objective-c/iOS coding, so please be specific. Thank you :)

  • Entire Table is pushed to the next page when rendering a SSRS 2005 Report (as .pdf) in SSRS 2008

    - by Pwninstein
I have a SSRS 2005 report that I'm rendering in SSRS 2008 as a .pdf. The report contains (among other things) a table that's very simple: header row, details, no footer, no aggregation, no grouping, keep together = false, pageBreakAtStart = false, pageBreakAtEnd = false, repeatHeaderOnNewPage = true. I resized the table to be much narrower than the body of the report just to be sure it wasn't extending beyond the bounds of the report, pushing everything down. But, no matter what I try, if some of the detail rows in that table would need to be pushed to the next page, then the ENTIRE TABLE is pushed to the next page, not just the extra rows. So my question is: Is there a workaround for this problem, is this a known issue, or is it even possible to get this 2005 report to render properly in 2008? NOTE: this is related to a question that I previously asked here, and is based on this MSDN forum post started by a coworker. This question is not the same as my previous question, as I'd like to see things work properly in with a 2005 report. If it's not possible, that would be good to know, as it would indicate that we need to upgrade one of our servers to SQL 2008. Thanks!

  • Problem with UIScrollView

    - by leon
Hi, Sorry for long winded post. I am trying to understand UIScrollView and running into very simple problem. I am creating a scroll view I am making this view 1.5 size larger then normal size Using UIScrollView I expect to see some edge elements of view out of bounds, but should be able to pan the view therefore bringing missing elements back to the visible area. However I am seeing that I can't just pan/scroll view anyway I want, instead view always wants to scroll up, as soon as move away my finger from the screen (touch end event). I am not handling any touches, etc - I just want to understand why does not scaled view stay put where I scroll it? CGRect viewFrame = self.view.frame ; viewFrame.size.width *= 1.5; viewFrame.size.height *= 1.5; CGSize mySize = viewFrame.size; [ ((UIScrollView *) self.view) setContentSize: mySize]; self.view.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeScale(1.5, 1.5); What I really trying to accomplish is something similar to Number on iPad (the same code will work on iPhone): There is a view with lots of controls on it (order entry form) User can zoom into the entire form so all elements look bigger user can pan the form therefore bringing various elements into the visible area of the screen. It seems that UIScrollView can should be able to handle zoom and pan actions (for now I am using Affine Transform to zoom in to the order entry form and iPad) Thanks

  • Is it possible to have a SeekBar's thumb image extend outside the bar?

    - by Poko
I have set negative paddings on my custom seekbar so that the round thumb image can go outside the bar, but the thumb isn't rendered out there, is there anyway to force the thumb to be drawn outside those bounds? Sorry guys, I'm new to Android development, and have been tasked with fixing an existing application. The problem is that we have a custom rounded looking track bar, which consists of two rounded 'end cap' images and a 1 px background that is tiled to create the seekbar. As far as I can tell there was never one image that could be set as the background of a normal SeekBar, which is why a custom one was created. The thumb is a circle and needs to 'fit' into the end caps - the three pieces of the bar are in a relative layout. Right now I'm kind of unclear as to how the 1 px background png gets stretched as the seekbar bg, otherwise I would try to tack on the two endcaps onto that drawable some how ... ? Please let me know if this was unclear and I'll try to post any followup info. Thanks in advance for any advice!! Oh, I'm using Android 2.1 if that's relevant to anyone's interests :)

  • Implementing A Static NSOutlineView

    - by spamguy
I'm having a hard time scraping together enough snippets of knowledge to implement an NSOutlineView with a static, never-changing structure defined in an NSArray. This link has been great, but it's not helping me grasp submenus. I'm thinking they're just nested NSArrays, but I have no clear idea. Let's say we have an NSArray inside an NSArray, defined as NSArray *subarray = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"2.1", @"2.2", @"2.3", @"2.4", @"2.5", nil]; NSArray *ovStructure = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"1", subarray, @"3", nil]; The text is defined in outlineView:objectValueForTableColumn:byItem:. - (id)outlineView:(NSOutlineView *)ov objectValueForTableColumn:(NSTableColumn *)tableColumn byItem:(id)ovItem { if ([[[tableColumn headerCell] stringValue] compare:@"Key"] == NSOrderedSame) { // Return the key for this item. First, get the parent array or dictionary. // If the parent is nil, then that must be root, so we'll get the root // dictionary. id parentObject = [ov parentForItem:ovItem] ? [ov parentForItem:ovItem] : ovStructure; if ([parentObject isKindOfClass:[NSArray class]]) { // Arrays don't have keys (usually), so we have to use a name // based on the index of the object. NSLog([NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@", ovItem]); //return [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Item %d", [parentObject indexOfObject:ovItem]]; return (NSString *) [ovStructure objectAtIndex:[ovStructure indexOfObject:ovItem]]; } } else { // Return the value for the key. If this is a string, just return that. if ([ovItem isKindOfClass:[NSString class]]) { return ovItem; } else if ([ovItem isKindOfClass:[NSDictionary class]]) { return [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d items", [ovItem count]]; } else if ([ovItem isKindOfClass:[NSArray class]]) { return [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d items", [ovItem count]]; } } return nil; } The result is '1', '(' (expandable), and '3'. NSLog shows the array starting with '(', hence the second item. Expanding it causes a crash due to going 'beyond bounds.' I tried using parentForItem: but couldn't figure out what to compare the result to. What am I missing?

  • Can NSCollectionView autoresize the width of its subviews to display one column

    - by littlecharva
Hi, I have an NSCollectionView that contains a collection of CustomViews. Initially it tiled the subviews into columns and rows like a grid. I then set the Columns property in IB to 1, so now it just displays them one after another in rows. However, even though my CustomView is 400px wide, it's set to autoresize, the NSCollectionView is 400px wide, and it's set to 1 column, the subviews are drawn about 80px wide. I know I can get around this by calling: CGFloat width = [collectionView bounds].size.width; NSSize size = NSMakeSize(width, 85); [collectionView setMinItemSize:size]; [collectionView setMaxItemSize:size]; But putting this code in the awakeFromNib method of my WindowController only sets the correct width when the program launches. When I resize the window (and the NSCollectionView autoresizes as I've specified), the CustomViews stay at their initially set width. I'm happy to take care of resizing the subviews myself if need be, but I'm quite new to Cocoa and can't seem to find any articles explaining how to do such a thing. Can someone point me in the right direction? Anthony

Hi Guys, Here Im gettimg memory allocation problem at activity indicator and My code is: - (id)init { if (self = [super init]) { self.title=@"Release Details"; contentView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]]; contentView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; self.view = contentView; [contentView release]; CGRect frame = CGRectMake(0,0, 320,1500); containerView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:frame]; webView = [ [UIWebView alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]]; webView.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithPatternImage: [UIImage imageNamed:@"background1.png"]]; webView.delegate = self; [containerView addSubview:webView]; CGRect activityViewframe = CGRectMake(20,8,20, 20); progressInd = [[UIActivityIndicatorView alloc] initWithFrame:activityViewframe]; progressInd.activityIndicatorViewStyle = UIActivityIndicatorViewStyleWhite; progressInd.autoresizingMask = (UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleLeftMargin | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleRightMargin | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleTopMargin | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleBottomMargin); [containerView addSubview:progressInd]; [progressInd startAnimating]; progressInd.hidden = NO; [progressInd stopAnimating]; [self.view addSubview:containerView]; isFetch=YES; } return self; } -(void) displayInProgressRightBarButton { UIView* rightBarButtonView = [ [UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(270,5,45, 35)]; [rightBarButtonView addSubview:progressInd]; UIBarButtonItem* buttonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:rightBarButtonView]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = buttonItem; [rightBarButtonView release]; [buttonItem release]; } - (void)webViewDidStartLoad:(UIWebView *)webView { [self displayInProgressRightBarButton]; [progressInd startAnimating]; [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = YES; } - (void)webViewDidFinishLoad:(UIWebView *)webView { [progressInd stopAnimating]; [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = NO; } Also I released the progressInd in dealloc eventhough it showing memory allocation at progressInd = [[UIActivityIndicatorView alloc] initWithFrame:activityViewframe]; in init. can anyone help me to solve this. Anyone's help will be much Appreciated. Thank you, Monish.

  • how to handle an asymptote/discontinuity with Matplotlib

    - by Geddes
Hello all. Firstly - thanks again for all your help. Sorry not to have accepted the responses to my previous questions as I did not know how the system worked (thanks to Mark for pointing that out!). I have since been back and gratefully acknowledged the kind help I have received. My question: when plotting a graph with a discontinuity/asymptote/singularity/whatever, is there any automatic way to prevent Matplotlib from 'joining the dots' across the 'break'? (please see code/image below). I read that Sage has a [detect_poles] facility that looked good, but I really want it to work with Matplotlib. Thanks and best wishes, Geddes import matplotlib.pyplot as plt import numpy as np from sympy import sympify, lambdify from sympy.abc import x fig = plt.figure(1) ax = fig.add_subplot(111) # set up axis ax.spines['left'].set_position('zero') ax.spines['right'].set_color('none') ax.spines['bottom'].set_position('zero') ax.spines['top'].set_color('none') ax.xaxis.set_ticks_position('bottom') ax.yaxis.set_ticks_position('left') # setup x and y ranges and precision xx = np.arange(-0.5,5.5,0.01) # draw my curve myfunction=sympify(1/(x-2)) mylambdifiedfunction=lambdify(x,myfunction,'numpy') ax.plot(xx, mylambdifiedfunction(xx),zorder=100,linewidth=3,color='red') #set bounds ax.set_xbound(-1,6) ax.set_ybound(-4,4) plt.show()

  • How do I properly handle rotation of a UIScrollView containing UIImageViews?

    - by bpapa
I'm developing an image viewer, much like the Photos App. It's a UIScrollView with paging enabled with images loaded from the internet, so I've adapted portions of the LazyTableImages sample. The Scroll View and each ImageView inside of it have all of their autoresize mask flags set. When I first observed how resizes were happening during rotation, it looked good, but once I started trying to interact with the scroll view, I realized that I also had to programmatically change the size of the contentView. I did that by implementing didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation: in my view controller. [self.scrollView setContentSize:CGSizeMake(numberOfImages * portraitWidth, [scrollView bounds].size.height)]; With interaction behaving properly, I then discovered that, if I was viewing the second photo and rotated, portions of both the 1st and 2nd photos would be shown on the screen. I needed to change the contentOffset as well. I've tried to fix this two ways - both by using the scrollRectToVisible:animated: method of UIScrollView, as well as trying to set the contentOffset property directly. And I've experimented by putting this code in implementations of both the "one-step" and "two-step" responses to changes in Orientation. For example: -(void)didAnimateFirstHalfOfRotationToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)toInterfaceOrientation { [self.scrollView setContentOffset:CGPointMake(currentlyViewedPhotoIndex * largeImageHeight,0) animated:YES]; In all cases though, it just looks janky as hell. Either I clearly see the scroll happen, or it just jumps. Uuuuuuuuuuugly! Is there a way to do this so that it behaves exactly like the Photos app does?
