  • populate uipicker view with results from core data DB using an NSArray

    - by Chris
    I am trying to populate a UIPickerView with the results of a NSFetchRequest. The results of the NSFetchRequest are then stored in an NSArray. I am using Core Data to interact with the SQLite DB. I have a simple class file that contains a UIPickerView that is associated with a storyboard scene in my project. The header file for the class looks like the following, ViewControllerUsers.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "AppDelegate.h" @interface ViewControllerUsers : UIViewController <NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate, UIPickerViewDelegate, UIPickerViewDataSource> { NSArray *dictionaries; } @property (nonatomic, strong) NSFetchedResultsController *fetchedResultsController; // Core Data @property (strong, nonatomic) NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext; @property (nonatomic, strong) NSArray *users; @property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIPickerView *uiPickerViewUsers; @property (weak, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIBarButtonItem *btnDone; @property (weak, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIButton *btnChangePin; // added for testing purposes @property (nonatomic, strong) NSArray *usernames; - (IBAction)dismissScene:(id)sender; - (IBAction)changePin:(id)sender; @end The implementation file looks like the following, ViewControllerUsers.m #import "ViewControllerUsers.h" @interface ViewControllerUsers () @end @implementation ViewControllerUsers // Core Data @synthesize managedObjectContext = _managedObjectContext; @synthesize uiPickerViewUsers = _uiPickerViewUsers; @synthesize usernames = _usernames; - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil { self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil]; if (self) { // Custom initialization } return self; } - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; // Do any additional setup after loading the view. // Core Data if (_managedObjectContext == nil) { _managedObjectContext = [(AppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] managedObjectContext]; NSLog(@"After _managedObjectContext: %@", _managedObjectContext); } NSFetchRequest *request = [NSFetchRequest fetchRequestWithEntityName:@"Account"]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Account" inManagedObjectContext:_managedObjectContext]; request.resultType = NSDictionaryResultType; request.propertiesToFetch = [NSArray arrayWithObject:[[entity propertiesByName] objectForKey:@"username"]]; request.returnsDistinctResults = YES; _usernames = [_managedObjectContext executeFetchRequest:request error:nil]; NSLog (@"names: %@",_usernames); } -(NSInteger)numberOfComponentsInPickerView:(UIPickerView *)pickerView { //One column return 1; } -(NSInteger)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)pickerView numberOfRowsInComponent:(NSInteger)component { //set number of rows return _usernames.count; } -(NSString *)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)pickerView titleForRow:(NSInteger)row forComponent:(NSInteger)component { //set item per row return [_usernames objectAtIndex:row]; } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Dispose of any resources that can be recreated. } - (void)viewDidUnload { [self setBtnDone:nil]; [self setUiPickerViewUsers:nil]; [self setBtnChangePin:nil]; [super viewDidUnload]; } - (IBAction)dismissScene:(id)sender { [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } - (IBAction)changePin:(id)sender { } @end The current code is causing the app to crash, but the NSLog is show the results of the NSFetchRequest in the NSArray. I currently think that I am not formatting the results of the NSFetchRequest in the NSArray properly if I had to take a guess. The crash log looks like the following, 2013-06-26 16:49:24.219 KegCop[41233:c07] names: ( { username = blah; }, { username = chris; }, { username = root; } ) 2013-06-26 16:49:24.223 KegCop[41233:c07] -[NSKnownKeysDictionary1 isEqualToString:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0xe54d9a0 2013-06-26 16:49:24.223 KegCop[41233:c07] Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '-[NSKnownKeysDictionary1 isEqualToString:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0xe54d9a0' First throw call stack:

  • How to create a dynamically built Context Menu clickEvent

    - by Chris
    C#, winform I have a DataGridView and a context menu that opens when you right click a specific column. What shows up in the context menu is dependant on what's in the field clicked on - paths to multiple files (the paths are manipulated to create a full UNC path to the correct file). The only problem is that I can't get the click working. I did not drag and drop the context menu from the toolbar, I created it programmically. I figured that if I can get the path (let's call it ContextMenuChosen) to show up in MessageBox.Show(ContextMenuChosen); I could set the same to System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(ContextMenuChosen); The Mydgv_MouseUp event below actually works to the point where I can get it to fire off MessageBox.Show("foo!"); when something in the context menu is selected but that's where it ends. I left in a bunch of comments below showing what I've tried when it one of the paths are clicked. Some result in empty strings, others error (Object not set to an instance...). I searched code all day yesterday but couldn't find another way to hook up a dynamically built Context Menu clickEvent. Code and comments: ContextMenu m = new ContextMenu(); // SHOW THE RIGHT CLICK MENU private void Mydgv_MouseClick(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (e.Button == MouseButtons.Right) { int currentMouseOverCol = Mydgv.HitTest(e.X, e.Y).ColumnIndex; int currentMouseOverRow = Mydgv.HitTest(e.X, e.Y).RowIndex; if (currentMouseOverRow >= 0 && currentMouseOverCol == 6) { string[] paths = myPaths.Split(';'); foreach (string path in paths) { string UNCPath = "\\\\1.1.1.1\\c$\\MyPath\\"; string FilePath = path.Replace("c:\\MyPath\\", @""); m.MenuItems.Add(new MenuItem(UNCPath + FilePath)); } } m.Show(Mydgv, new Point(e.X, e.Y)); } } // SELECTING SOMETHING IN THE RIGHT CLICK MENU private void Mydgv_MouseUp(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { DataGridView.HitTestInfo hitTestInfo; if (e.Button == MouseButtons.Right) { hitTestInfo = Mydgv.HitTest(e.X, e.Y); // If column is first column if (hitTestInfo.Type == DataGridViewHitTestType.Cell && hitTestInfo.ColumnIndex == 6) { //MessageBox.Show(m.ToString()); ////MessageBox.Show(m.Tag.ToString()); //MessageBox.Show(m.Name.ToString()); //MessageBox.Show(m.MenuItems.ToString()); ////MessageBox.Show(m.MdiListItem.ToString()); // MessageBox.Show(m.Name); //if (m.MenuItems.Count > 0) //MessageBox.Show(m.MdiListItem.Text); //MessageBox.Show(m.ToString()); //MessageBox.Show(m.MenuItems.ToString()); //Mydgv.ContextMenu.Show(m.Name.ToString()); //MessageBox.Show(ContextMenu.ToString()); //MessageBox.Show(ContextMenu.MenuItems.ToString()); //MenuItem.text //MessageBox.Show(this.ContextMenu.MenuItems.ToString()); } m.MenuItems.Clear(); } } I'm very close to completing this so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, ~ Chris

  • Can't get Jacobi algorithm to work in Objective-C

    - by Chris Long
    Hi, For some reason, I can't get this program to work. I've had other CS majors look at it and they can't figure it out either. This program performs the Jacobi algorithm (you can see step-by-step instructions and a MATLAB implementation here). BTW, it's different from the Wikipedia article of the same name. Since NSArray is one-dimensional, I added a method that makes it act like a two-dimensional C array. After running the Jacobi algorithm many times, the diagonal entries in the NSArray (i[0][0], i[1][1], etc.) are supposed to get bigger and the others approach 0. For some reason though, they all increase exponentially. For instance, i[2][4] should equal 0.0000009, not 9999999, while i[2][2] should be big. Thanks in advance, Chris NSArray+Matrix.m @implementation NSArray (Matrix) @dynamic offValue, transposed; - (double)offValue { double sum = 0.0; for ( MatrixItem *item in self ) if ( item.nonDiagonal ) sum += pow( item.value, 2.0 ); return sum; } - (NSMutableArray *)transposed { NSMutableArray *transpose = [[[NSMutableArray alloc] init] autorelease]; int i, j; for ( i = 0; i < 5; i++ ) { for ( j = 0; j < 5; j++ ) { [transpose addObject:[self objectAtRow:j andColumn:i]]; } } return transpose; } - (id)objectAtRow:(NSUInteger)row andColumn:(NSUInteger)column { NSUInteger index = 5 * row + column; return [self objectAtIndex:index]; } - (NSMutableArray *)multiplyWithMatrix:(NSArray *)array { NSMutableArray *result = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; int i = 0, j = 0, k = 0; double value; for ( i = 0; i < 5; i++ ) { value = 0.0; for ( j = 0; j < 5; j++ ) { for ( k = 0; k < 5; k++ ) { MatrixItem *firstItem = [self objectAtRow:i andColumn:k]; MatrixItem *secondItem = [array objectAtRow:k andColumn:j]; value += firstItem.value * secondItem.value; } MatrixItem *item = [[MatrixItem alloc] initWithValue:value]; item.row = i; item.column = j; [result addObject:item]; } } return result; } @end Jacobi_AlgorithmAppDelegate.m // ... - (void)jacobiAlgorithmWithEntry:(MatrixItem *)entry { MatrixItem *b11 = [matrix objectAtRow:entry.row andColumn:entry.row]; MatrixItem *b22 = [matrix objectAtRow:entry.column andColumn:entry.column]; double muPlus = ( b22.value + b11.value ) / 2.0; muPlus += sqrt( pow((b22.value - b11.value), 2.0) + 4.0 * pow(entry.value, 2.0) ); Vector *u1 = [[[Vector alloc] initWithX:(-1.0 * entry.value) andY:(b11.value - muPlus)] autorelease]; [u1 normalize]; Vector *u2 = [[[Vector alloc] initWithX:-u1.y andY:u1.x] autorelease]; NSMutableArray *g = [[[NSMutableArray alloc] init] autorelease]; for ( int i = 0; i <= 24; i++ ) { MatrixItem *item = [[[MatrixItem alloc] init] autorelease]; if ( i == 6*entry.row ) item.value = u1.x; else if ( i == 6*entry.column ) item.value = u2.y; else if ( i == ( 5*entry.row + entry.column ) || i == ( 5*entry.column + entry.row ) ) item.value = u1.y; else if ( i % 6 == 0 ) item.value = 1.0; else item.value = 0.0; [g addObject:item]; } NSMutableArray *firstResult = [[g.transposed multiplyWithMatrix:matrix] autorelease]; matrix = [firstResult multiplyWithMatrix:g]; } // ...

  • MySQL and INT auto_increment fields

    - by PHPguy
    Hello folks, I'm developing in LAMP (Linux+Apache+MySQL+PHP) since I remember myself. But one question was bugging me for years now. I hope you can help me to find an answer and point me into the right direction. Here is my challenge: Say, we are creating a community website, where we allow our users to register. The MySQL table where we store all users would look then like this: CREATE TABLE `users` ( `uid` int(2) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment COMMENT 'User ID', `name` varchar(20) NOT NULL, `password` varchar(32) NOT NULL COMMENT 'Password is saved as a 32-bytes hash, never in plain text', `email` varchar(64) NOT NULL, `created` int(11) unsigned NOT NULL default '0' COMMENT 'Timestamp of registration', `updated` int(11) unsigned NOT NULL default '0' COMMENT 'Timestamp of profile update, e.g. change of email', PRIMARY KEY (`uid`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8; So, from this snippet you can see that we have a unique and automatically incrementing for every new user 'uid' field. As on every good and loyal community website we need to provide users with possibility to completely delete their profile if they want to cancel their participation in our community. Here comes my problem. Let's say we have 3 registered users: Alice (uid = 1), Bob (uid = 2) and Chris (uid = 3). Now Bob want to delete his profile and stop using our community. If we delete Bob's profile from the 'users' table then his missing 'uid' will create a gap which will be never filled again. In my opinion it's a huge waste of uid's. I see 3 possible solutions here: 1) Increase the capacity of the 'uid' field in our table from SMALLINT (int(2)) to, for example, BIGINT (int(8)) and ignore the fact that some of the uid's will be wasted. 2) introduce the new field 'is_deleted', which will be used to mark deleted profiles (but keep them in the table, instead of deleting them) to re-utilize their uid's for newly registered users. The table will look then like this: CREATE TABLE `users` ( `uid` int(2) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment COMMENT 'User ID', `name` varchar(20) NOT NULL, `password` varchar(32) NOT NULL COMMENT 'Password is saved as a 32-bytes hash, never in plain text', `email` varchar(64) NOT NULL, `is_deleted` int(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '0' COMMENT 'If equal to "1" then the profile has been deleted and will be re-used for new registrations', `created` int(11) unsigned NOT NULL default '0' COMMENT 'Timestamp of registration', `updated` int(11) unsigned NOT NULL default '0' COMMENT 'Timestamp of profile update, e.g. change of email', PRIMARY KEY (`uid`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8; 3) Write a script to shift all following user records once a previous record has been deleted. E.g. in our case when Bob (uid = 2) decides to remove his profile, we would replace his record with the record of Chris (uid = 3), so that uid of Chris becomes qual to 2 and mark (is_deleted = '1') the old record of Chris as vacant for the new users. In this case we keep the chronological order of uid's according to the registration time, so that the older users have lower uid's. Please, advice me now which way is the right way to handle the gaps in the auto_increment fields. This is just one example with users, but such cases occur very often in my programming experience. Thanks in advance!

  • Issue 15: SVP Focus

    - by rituchhibber
         SVP FOCUS FOCUS -- Chris Baker SVP Oracle Worldwide ISV-OEM-Java Sales Chris Baker is the Global Head of ISV/OEM Sales responsible for working with ISV/OEM partners to maximise Oracle's business through those partners, whilst maximising those partners’ business to their end users. Chris works with partners, customers, innovators, investors and employees to develop innovative business solutions using Oracle products, services and skills. RESOURCES -- Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) OPN Solutions Catalog Oracle Exastack Program Oracle Exastack Optimized Oracle Cloud Computing Oracle Engineered Systems Oracle and Java SUBSCRIBE FEEDBACK PREVIOUS ISSUES "By taking part in marketing activities, our partners accelerate their sales cycles." -- Firstly, could you please explain Oracle's current strategy for ISV partners, globally and in EMEA? Oracle customers use independent software vendor (ISV) applications to run their businesses. They use them to generate revenue and to fulfil obligations to their own customers. Our strategy is very straight-forward. We want all of our ISV partners and OEMs to concentrate on the things that they do the best—building applications to meet the unique industry and functional requirements of their customer. We want to ensure that we deliver a best-in-class application platform so ISVs are free to concentrate their effort on their application functionality and user experience We invest over four billion dollars in research and development every year, and we want our ISVs to benefit from all of that investment in operating systems, virtualisation, databases, middleware, engineered systems, and other hardware. By doing this, we help them to reduce their costs, gain more consistency and agility for quicker implementations, and also rapidly differentiate themselves from other application vendors. It's all about simplification because we believe that around 25 to 30 percent of the development costs incurred by many ISVs are caused by customising infrastructure and have nothing to do with their applications. Our strategy is to enable our ISV partners to standardise their application platform using engineered architecture, so they can write once to the Oracle stack and deploy seamlessly in the cloud, on-premise, or in hybrid deployments. It's really important that architecture is the same in order to keep cost and time overheads at a minimum, so we provide standardisation and an environment that enables our ISVs to concentrate on the core business that makes them the most money and brings them success. How do you believe this strategy is helping the ISVs to work hand-in-hand with Oracle to ensure that end customers get the industry-leading solutions that they need? We work with our ISVs not just to help them be successful, but also to help them market themselves. We have something called the 'Oracle Exastack Ready Program', which enables ISVs to publicise themselves as 'Ready' to run the core software platforms that run on Oracle's engineered systems including Exadata and Exalogic. So, for example, they can become 'Database Ready' which means that they use the latest version of Oracle Database and therefore can run their application without modification on Exadata or the Oracle Database Appliance. Alternatively, they can become WebLogic Ready, Oracle Linux Ready and Oracle Solaris Ready which means they run on the latest release and therefore can run their application, with no new porting work, on Oracle Exalogic. Those 'Ready' logos are important in helping ISVs advertise to their customers that they are using the latest technologies which have been fully tested. We now also have Exadata Ready and Exalogic Ready programmes which allow ISVs to promote the certification of their applications on these platforms. This highlights these partners to Oracle customers as having solutions that run fluently on the Oracle Exadata Database Machine, the Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud or one of our other engineered systems. This makes it easy for customers to identify solutions and provides ISVs with an avenue to connect with Oracle customers who are rapidly adopting engineered systems. We have also taken this programme to the next level in the shape of 'Oracle Exastack Optimized' for partners whose applications run best on the Oracle stack and have invested the time to fully optimise application performance. We ensure that Exastack Optimized partner status is promoted and supported by press releases, and we help our ISVs go to market and differentiate themselves through the use of our technology and the standardisation it delivers. To date we have had several hundred organisations successfully work through our Exastack Optimized programme. How does Oracle's strategy of offering pre-integrated open platform software and hardware allow ISVs to bring their products to market more quickly? One of the problems for many ISVs is that they have to think very carefully about the technology on which their solutions will be deployed, particularly in the cloud or hosted environments. They have to think hard about how they secure these environments, whether the concern is, for example, middleware, identity management, or securing personal data. If they don't use the technology that we build-in to our products to help them to fulfil these roles, they then have to build it themselves. This takes time, requires testing, and must be maintained. By taking advantage of our technology, partners will now know that they have a standard platform. They will know that they can confidently talk about implementation being the same every time they do it. Very large ISV applications could once take a year or two to be implemented at an on-premise environment. But it wasn't just the configuration of the application that took the time, it was actually the infrastructure - the different hardware configurations, operating systems and configurations of databases and middleware. Now we strongly believe that it's all about standardisation and repeatability. It's about making sure that our partners can do it once and are then able to roll it out many different times using standard componentry. What actions would you recommend for existing ISV partners that are looking to do more business with Oracle and its customer base, not only to maximise benefits, but also to maximise partner relationships? My team, around the world and in the EMEA region, is available and ready to talk to any of our ISVs and to explore the possibilities together. We run programmes like 'Excite' and 'Insight' to help us to understand how we can help ISVs with architecture and widen their environments. But we also want to work with, and look at, new opportunities - for example, the Machine-to-Machine (M2M) market or 'The Internet of Things'. Over the next few years, many millions, indeed billions of devices will be collecting massive amounts of data and communicating it back to the central systems where ISVs will be running their applications. The only way that our partners will be able to provide a single vendor 'end-to-end' solution is to use Oracle integrated systems at the back end and Java on the 'smart' devices collecting the data—a complete solution from device to data centre. So there are huge opportunities to work closely with our ISVs, using Oracle's complete M2M platform, to provide the infrastructure that enables them to extract maximum value from the data collected. If any partners don't know where to start or who to contact, then they can contact me directly at chris[email protected] or indeed any of our teams across the EMEA region. We want to work with ISVs to help them to be as successful as they possibly can through simplification and speed to market, and we also want all of the top ISVs in the world based on Oracle. What opportunities are immediately opened to new ISV partners joining the OPN? As you know OPN is very, very important. New members will discover a huge amount of content that instantly becomes accessible to them. They can access a wealth of no-cost training and enablement materials to build their expertise in Oracle technology. They can download Oracle software and use it for development projects. They can help themselves become more competent by becoming part of a true community and uncovering new opportunities by working with Oracle and their peers in the Oracle Partner Network. As well as publishing massive amounts of information on OPN, we also hold our global Oracle OpenWorld event, at which partners play a huge role. This takes place at the end of September and the beginning of October in San Francisco. Attending ISV partners have an unrivalled opportunity to contribute to elements such as the OpenWorld / OPN Exchange, at which they can talk to other partners and really begin thinking about how they can move their businesses on and play key roles in a very large ecosystem which revolves around technology and standardisation. Finally, are there any other messages that you would like to share with the Oracle ISV community? The crucial message that I always like to reinforce is architecture, architecture and architecture! The key opportunities that ISVs have today revolve around standardising their architectures so that they can confidently think: "I will I be able to do exactly the same thing whenever a customer is looking to deploy on-premise, hosted or in the cloud". The right architecture is critical to being competitive and to really start changing the game. We want to help our ISV partners to do just that; to establish standard architecture and to seize the opportunities it opens up for them. New market opportunities like M2M are enormous - just look at how many devices are all around you right now. We can help our partners to interface with these devices more effectively while thinking about their entire ecosystem, rather than just the piece that they have traditionally focused upon. With standardised architecture, we can help people dramatically improve their speed, reach, agility and delivery of enhanced customer satisfaction and value all the way from the Java side to their centralised systems. All Oracle ISV partners must take advantage of these opportunities, which is why Oracle will continue to invest in and support them. Oracle OpenWorld 2010 Whether you attended Oracle OpenWorld 2009 or not, don't forget to save the date now for Oracle OpenWorld 2010. • Good Scoop: The PeopleSoft/IBM Backstory

    - by [email protected]
    By Brian Dayton on April 12, 2010 11:15 AM Sometimes you're searching for something online and you find an unrelated, bonus nugget. Last week I stumbled across an interesting blog post from Chris Heller of a PeopleSoft consulting shop in San Ramon, CA called Grey Sparling. I don't know these guys. But Chris, who apparently used to work on the PeopleTools team, wrote a great article on a pre-acquisition, would-be deal between IBM and PeopleSoft that would have standardized PeopleSoft on IBM technology. The behind-the-scenes perspective is interesting. His commentary on the challenges that the company and PeopleSoft customers would have encountered if the deal had gone through was also interesting: · "No common ownership. It's hard enough to get large groups of people to work together when they work for the same company, but with two separate companies it is much, much harder. Even within Oracle, progress on Fusion applications was slow until Thomas Kurian took over Fusion applications in addition to Fusion middleware." · "No customer buy-in. PeopleSoft customers weren't asking for a conversion to WebSphere, so the fact that doing that could have helped PeopleSoft stay independent wouldn't have meant much to them, especially since the cost of moving to whatever a "PeopleSoft built on WebSphere" would have been significant." · "No executive buy-in. This is related to the previous point, but it's worth calling out separately. If Oracle had walked away and the deal with IBM had gone through, and PeopleSoft customers got put through the wringer as part of WebSphere move, all of the PeopleSoft project teams would be put in the awkward position of explaining to their management why these additional costs and headaches were happening. Essentially they would need to "sell" the partnership internally to their own management team. That's not a fun conversation to have." I'm not surprised that something like this was in the works. But I did find the inside scoop and Heller's perspective on the challenges particularly interesting. Especially the advantages of aligning development of applications and infrastructure development under one roof. Here's a link to the whole blog entry.

  • System wide Proxy settings when on a windows network with a password

    - by sav
    I'm using Ubuntu on a windows network. I want to connect to the world wide web. I have followed the steps here which I have found very useful. However when I try to ping a website (eg: ping www.wikipedia.org) I get no reply. I can ping local computers on my network, but I need to go through our proxy to get to the world wide web. I can even browse wikipedia using firefox, I just needed to enter the proxy configuration script location and my username and password. I'm quite sure the reason I'm having this trouble is because I havn't entered a username and password. I'm not sure how to do this on a system wide level. ultimately I would like to be able to use package managers like synaptic but first I need them to be able to connect to the internet. EDIT As sugested I created a /etc/apt/apt.conf file like Acquire::http::Proxy "http://chrisav:[email protected]:8080"; Acquire::https::Proxy "https://chrisav:[email protected]:8080"; Acquire::ftp::Proxy "ftp://chrisav:[email protected]:8080"; Acquire::socks::Proxy "socks://chrisav:[email protected]:8080"; However I still cant ping wikipedia when I try installing stuff I get chris@chris-Ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install kate Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Unable to locate package kate

    Hi, I'm trying to implement face detection in C#. I currently have a black + white outline of a photo with a face within it (Here). However i'm now trying to remove the noise and then dilate the image in order to improve reliability when i implement the detection. The method I have so far is here: unsafe public Image Process(Image input) { Bitmap bmp = (Bitmap)input; Bitmap bmpSrc = (Bitmap)input; BitmapData bmData = bmp.LockBits(new Rectangle(0, 0, bmp.Width, bmp.Height), ImageLockMode.ReadWrite, PixelFormat.Format24bppRgb); int stride = bmData.Stride; int stride2 = bmData.Stride * 2; IntPtr Scan0 = bmData.Scan0; byte* p = (byte*)(void*)Scan0; int nOffset = stride - bmp.Width * 3; int nWidth = bmp.Width - 2; int nHeight = bmp.Height - 2; var w = bmp.Width; var h = bmp.Height; var rp = p; var empty = CompareEmptyColor; byte c, cm; int i = 0; // Erode every pixel for (int y = 0; y < h; y++) { for (int x = 0; x < w; x++, i++) { // Middle pixel cm = p[y * w + x]; if (cm == empty) { continue; } // Row 0 // Left pixel if (x - 2 > 0 && y - 2 > 0) { c = p[(y - 2) * w + (x - 2)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } // Middle left pixel if (x - 1 > 0 && y - 2 > 0) { c = p[(y - 2) * w + (x - 1)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (y - 2 > 0) { c = p[(y - 2) * w + x]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (x + 1 < w && y - 2 > 0) { c = p[(y - 2) * w + (x + 1)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (x + 2 < w && y - 2 > 0) { c = p[(y - 2) * w + (x + 2)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } // Row 1 // Left pixel if (x - 2 > 0 && y - 1 > 0) { c = p[(y - 1) * w + (x - 2)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (x - 1 > 0 && y - 1 > 0) { c = p[(y - 1) * w + (x - 1)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (y - 1 > 0) { c = p[(y - 1) * w + x]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (x + 1 < w && y - 1 > 0) { c = p[(y - 1) * w + (x + 1)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (x + 2 < w && y - 1 > 0) { c = p[(y - 1) * w + (x + 2)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } // Row 2 if (x - 2 > 0) { c = p[y * w + (x - 2)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (x - 1 > 0) { c = p[y * w + (x - 1)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (x + 1 < w) { c = p[y * w + (x + 1)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (x + 2 < w) { c = p[y * w + (x + 2)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } // Row 3 if (x - 2 > 0 && y + 1 < h) { c = p[(y + 1) * w + (x - 2)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (x - 1 > 0 && y + 1 < h) { c = p[(y + 1) * w + (x - 1)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (y + 1 < h) { c = p[(y + 1) * w + x]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (x + 1 < w && y + 1 < h) { c = p[(y + 1) * w + (x + 1)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (x + 2 < w && y + 1 < h) { c = p[(y + 1) * w + (x + 2)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } // Row 4 if (x - 2 > 0 && y + 2 < h) { c = p[(y + 2) * w + (x - 2)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (x - 1 > 0 && y + 2 < h) { c = p[(y + 2) * w + (x - 1)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (y + 2 < h) { c = p[(y + 2) * w + x]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (x + 1 < w && y + 2 < h) { c = p[(y + 2) * w + (x + 1)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } if (x + 2 < w && y + 2 < h) { c = p[(y + 2) * w + (x + 2)]; if (c == empty) { continue; } } // If all neighboring pixels are processed // it's clear that the current pixel is not a boundary pixel. rp[i] = cm; } } bmpSrc.UnlockBits(bmData); return bmpSrc; } As I understand it, in order to erode the image (and remove the noise), we need to check each pixel to see if it's surrounding pixels are black, and if so, then it is a border pixel and we need not keep it, which i believe my code does, so it is beyond me why it doesn't work. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated Thanks, Chris

  • Oracle Fusion Applications User Experience Design Patterns: Feeling the Love after Launch

    - by mvaughan
    By Misha Vaughan, Oracle Applications User ExperienceIn the first video by the Oracle Applications User Experience team on the Oracle Partner Network, Vice President Jeremy Ashley said that Oracle is looking to expand the ecosystem of support for Oracle’s applications customers as they begin to assess their investment and adoption of Oracle Fusion Applications. Oracle has made a massive investment to maintain the benefits of the Fusion Applications User Experience. This summer, the Applications User Experience team released the Oracle Fusion Applications user experience design patterns.Design patterns help create consistent experiences across devices.The launch has been very well received:Angelo Santagata, Senior Principal Technologist and Fusion Middleware evangelist for Oracle,  wrote this to the system integrator community: “The web site is the result of many years of Oracle R&D into user interface design for Fusion Applications and features a really cool web app which allows you to visualise the UI components in action.”  Grant Ronald, Director of Product Management, Application Development Framework (ADF) said: “It’s a science I don't understand, but now I don't have to ... Now you can learn from the UX experience of Fusion Applications.”Frank Nimphius, Senior Principal Product Manager, Oracle (ADF) wrote about the launch of the design patterns for the ADF Code Corner, and Jürgen Kress, Senior Manager EMEA Alliances & Channels for Fusion MiddleWare and Service Oriented Architecture, (SOA), shared the news with his Partner Community. Oracle Twitter followers also helped spread the message about the design patterns launch: ?@bex – Brian Huff, founder and Chief Software Architect for Bezzotech, and Oracle ACE Director:“Nifty! The Oracle Fusion UX team just released new ADF design patterns.”@maiko_rocha, Maiko Rocha, Oracle Consulting Solutions Architect and Oracle FMW engineer: “Haven't seen any other vendor offer such comprehensive UX Design Patterns catalog for free!”@zirous_chad, Chad Thompson, Senior Solutions Architect for Zirous, Inc. and ADF Developer:Wow - @ultan and company did a great job with the Fusion UX PatternsWhat is a user experience design pattern?A user experience design pattern is a re-usable, usability tested functional blueprint for a particular user experience.  Some examples are guided processes, shopping carts, and search and search results.  Ultan O’Broin discusses the top design patterns every developer should know.The patterns that were just released are based on thousands of hours of end-user field studies, state-of-the-art user interface assessments, and usability testing.  To be clear, these are functional design patterns, not technical design patterns that developers may be used to working with.  Because we know there is a gap, we are putting together some training that will help close that gap.Who should care?This is an offering targeted primarily at Application Development Framework (ADF) developers. If you are faced with the following questions regarding Fusion Applications, you will want to know and learn more:•    How do I build something that looks like Fusion Applications?•    How do I build a next-generation application?•    How do I extend a Fusion Application and maintain the user experience?•    I don’t want to re-invent the wheel on the user interface, so where do I start?•    I need to build something that will eventually co-exist with Fusion Applications. How do I do that?These questions are relevant to partners with an ADF competency, individual practitioners, or small consultancies with an ADF specialization, and customers who are trying to shift their IT staff over to supporting Fusion Applications.Where you can find out more?OnlineOur Fusion User Experience design patterns maven is Ultan O’Broin. The Oracle Partner Network is helping our team bring this first e-seminar to you in order to go into a more detail on what this means and how to take advantage of it:?
