Notice : if there any other commands i should execute in servers for more information, so it might help resolve the problem , let me know in comments

• T61, NVidia, Ubuntu 9.10 == Video problems

  Hi, Upgraded to latest Ubuntu, currently 9.10. Videos used to work fine. Now, playing videos using VLC or any other media player shows them 'sepia' tinged when playing. This is annoying. I remember this used to happen on occasion (after resuming from suspect), and I forget what I fiddled with to make it better. Does anyone have the method to force video to render correctly with this combination? It happens even after a reboot. Thanks

• VLC volume only to 200%?

  According to this comment it seems that VLC could boost the audio volume up to 800% in the past versions. Today I installed VLC multimedia player version 2.0.5 and it is capable only to boost up to 200%! This is not much, considering that some youtube videos are very quiet. This is what I need VLC for - to boost up volume for quiet youtube videos. So, where's the problem? Was it actually 800% in the past? Did VLC really limit this from former 800% to current 200%? Is it possible to somehow achieve more boost with VLC? Or with other software? I am using Windows 7.

• Burn more than one ISO to one dvd?

  I just turned 11 CDs with a total of 1gb of stuff into ISOs. Is it possible for me to just burn all the ISO videos into a DVD? Any alternative way for me to do it? Edit: I need to be playable on any DVD player. It's videos for my grandparents. Update: I read that DVD shrink should work (re-authoring software), but I didn't try it because when I imported the VIDEO_TS folders into the software, my video wasn't played widescreen, and I dont' know how to fix it.

  I'm looking for a Home Media Server which can stream videos to various devices including iPhone, iPad, Windows Machines, Android etc. I wouldn't want to install any client on any device; a web interface will be preferred. Also, it should be able to read videos of as many formats as possible and should stream by transcoding the resolution and format according to device's specifications. I have a fairly powerful machine on which I'm free to install Windows 7 or Linux. The streaming will be done over a g/n WiFi router or Ethernet locally. What is the suggested solution in my case?

  After a video has played on YouTube, often there will be a follow up link after the video has finished playing in the form of related videos. I'm looking to implement similar into my HTML5 Video. It would look something like this: At the moment, it seems there is nothing in the W3C spec for this (Links inside HTML5 video). Could anyone advise on a method of achieving? I have 50-100 videos on my site on which I would like to implement. Currently I'm thinking a Javascript callback which initiates the Call to action buttons, though I have a feeling this could get complicated...

• How do I catalog files on several external hard drives that I want to store off-line? OSX

  My partner, an artist, has more than 10 external hardisks both USB and firewire and every 2-3 months a new one has to be added (She's working with videos and pictures) currently its 10TB and growing so too much for a affordable NAS. Right now the files are not indexed and I think can not be searched with spotlight because not all drives can be connected at the same time. So if she wants to search for a file, she has to guess which disk/disks (based mostly on the date) and then search several drives. Now I'm looking for a solution to index/catalog the drives, something like GentibusCD Cathy Disclib (all these solutions are unfortunately Windows only) Is there any software for OSX that will catalog all the hard drives, so she can search the catalog, find the files, and get the ID of the disk / disk name that has the content? Preferably something with a GUI so my partner can also use it easily Preferably with Thumbnails for pictures/videos (But even an equivalent to "tree /F /A" would be better than nothing)

• Windows Media Center won't Play MSN Video Player

  My install of Windows Media Center won't play MSN Video Player videos. They appear in the main guide, but when I click on them, nothing happens. If I look on the main menu, I don't have any icons for MSN Video player there. People have suggested I try downloading updates, but that makes no difference. I have internet connectivity. My region is set to the UK (which is where I am). If I navigate to the MSN Video Player using Internet Explorer, the videos play fine. The machine is an Acer Revo RL100, running Windows 7 64-bit. Does anyone have a solution for this? Any help would be gratefully received.

• Frame rate upsampling codec/player/software?

  Hello, I recently noticed that when I play both HD and SD videos on my HDMI TV at 1080p 60Hz from my computer, the motion is not fluid as I would expect. As far as I know, it could be because the 24fps video needs to be upsampled by the codec to match the 60Hz output of the monitor. But, as far as I know, the upsampling is done by simply repeating each photogram for a certain amount of frames. I usually play MKV videos with VLC. Do you know if there is a player or codec that performs the upsampling by interpolation like some 100Hz TVs do? I recently saw an LG led TV play a 24fps 720p video at 100Hz with an incredible motion fluidity, and I simply wonder why can't my computer do! I have an NVidia card. Does PureVideo help? I'm a noob with these things. Thank you.

• Converting or playing a .264 video file?

  I recently bought a Chinese brand DVR (to record security cams). The DVR exports the video files with a ".264" extension. This is my first time ever dealing with this video format. Anyhow I've been trying to convert the videos to any other format so it will be easier to watch the videos. The problem is that I could only find one program that can convert and play those files which is Elecard studio something, and even that Elecard studio thing is having trouble with these files, some of them are just making it crash so I can't convert them. I've tried to find some other programs but I couldn't find anything that can actually play those files. How can I play or convert these files to another format?

• Fullscreen Photo/Video Slideshow App?

  I have a folder that contains a lot of subfolders which include photos and/or videos. Is there any free application that would display them in a random slideshow? It's something I want to run on a PC mounted on a wall. I point it to that folder and it starts displaying it, with some random/nice transitions. No need for anything more fancy, except maybe Previous/Next controls. Edit: Just a quick clarification. Those pictures change all the time, and there are many of them. It's supposed to be in a store to display product pictures, so it's not like someone is actively watching the whole show. Currently, there are around 150,000 pictures or videos.

• Windows 7: blue faces in VLC... sometimes

  There are a bunch of forum posts about this issue from the last several years but no resolution that I could find. I have the newest VLC installed on Windows 7 with the newest nvidia drivers. Suddenly, VLC plays some videos in such a way as faces are blue. When viewed in another media player, or when looking at the thumbnails, this is not an issue. Other videos are not affected. I've tried resetting VLC options, deleting the VLC folder in the AppData area, etc. I have no other color issues. Does anyone have a fix?

• Some html5 video content will not play in Chrome - except in Private Browsing Mode

  I have had this problem for a couple of years, probably due to the fact that all my settings get transferred when I log into Chrome: Most videos on the net play fine using Chrome, but on certain site none of the videos will play. This is not due to wrong codecs or something, because opening the same video using Chrome's Private Browsing Mode will play it just fine. Since most (all?) extensions are disabled when using Private Browsing Mode, I guessed the problem had to be found in my extensions, so I disabled all and also disabled developer mode. • unable to transfer files from handy cam to PC

  I am using a Windows 7 PC,I am using sony dcr -sr88 handy cam . I need to transfer all my videos from handycam to my PC. when i try to connect to the PC through USB. it detects the usb drive in the Handycam on my PC and shows the used memory. But when i open the folder it shows "folder is empty". How i can copy the files? I have tried following: Changed the USB cable CHanged the USB port I can play the videos through handicam, but those files not visible in PC when connected in USB mode. Please help ..bit urgent!

• Automatize uploading the YouTube

  Here's the problem: I would like to keep lots of home made videos. Of course, they are subject to being lost, or somebody could steal the the computer, or water or fire could destroy them. Secondly, I have to plug in my hard drive every time I want to watch something, which I find slow and cumbersome. I was thinking that perhaps I could upload the videos to Youtube with the privacy set to invite only and then delete the video from the hard drive automatically. Could this be done?

• Video streaming over multi display units

  We have to share video across around 4/8 terminals at a public facility where we need to display live video from within the facility, as well as display messages(advertisements), and also play videos(not live) which need to be controlled centrally from another location. We can do central location handling over Internet, over ssh. What we want to do is connect cameras to a computer, and use the computer to display over multiple display units. We need to do live titling if possible. Once the live local telecast which usually takes about an hour or two a day, we would like to play other videos locally off the PC server. Preferably everything should run off Linux, since budgets are very constrained.... Addendum -- Its not over WAN, it's over a local area. I prefer not using LAN, we would rather use co-axial cable if possible. The reason is if it's LAN, I need some kind of an Networking device, at least a thin client

  In 2007, I started a site based on streaming and downloading poker strategy videos. At that point in time, the best solution I came up with for supporting users of Macs and PCs was to provide the videos in both WMV and FLV formats. Later we added an M4V version to support iPhones/iPods. Obviously, things have changed a bit since that time. I would like to revisit our format decision to see if there is anything better that we could offer, preferrably with wider support among all devices (so that we can reduce the number of formats offered, if possible). Is FLV + WMV + M4V the best solution? Is there something else we should consider? What about Android devices?

• Why are my favorite websites becoming slower, over months?

  I spend a lot of my time at sites for watching online videos: youtube, gorillavid, thedailyshow.com etc. I used to watch the videos in full screen mode, and then that became very laggy. So, I started watching them with full-browser zooming. Then that became laggy. Recently, I've had to actually zoom out; otherwise, the video will lag so much that my PC locks. Could this be a symptom of my processor, RAM, or motherboard going bad? Has it, perhaps, anything to do with softwares like Chrome or the playeres the sites are using being updated?

• Manage 2 displays remotely

  I have a pc with a nVidia Quadro graphic card. The card has 2 DisplayPort outs where 2 40" Full HD TV are connected. I need to run 2 separate fullscreen videos, one each display. The problem is displays are far from the pc station and I cannot control them from there. I tried with a remote desktop connection but when I connect screen 1 shows login and screen 2 simply blackens (I'm logged off). The pc, an HP, also has his native graphics card still installed it would be nice if I could connect there a 15" monitor with the desktop on and use the TVs only as secondary where I can send fullscreen videos. Any clue?

  Developers of Windows Mobile 6.x (and indeed Windows CE) applications still use the rich .NET Compact Framework 3.5 with Visual Studio 2008 for development. That is still a great platform and the Mobile Development Handbook is still a useful resource (if I may say so myself :-). The release of Windows Phone 7, changes the programming paradigm. The programming model has NETCF in its guts, but the developer uses the Silverlight or XNA APIs (and they can call from one into the other).   Does LearnDevNow offers a useful subscription for .NET video and text reference training material or to learn .NET? I could not find a review of www.learnnowonline.com/learndevnow I've been doing research about places that offer .NET / ASP.NET / C# / LINQ / SQL / JQuery video training that provide excellent material for developers. Kind of like a Lynda.com for back end development. However, I have not find one place that offers quality material that is easily accessible for the user, and that is priced competitive. This is what I'm looking for: Online Video tutorials with free future updates (videos that can be accessed on any device ie: android portable devices, mac / ipad, linux machines) Printable courseware (ie PDFs so that you can take notes, print if necessary, and read in a tablet in case you don;t have internet access) labs, and easy to access code Pre/Post Assessments/Exams for each training to keep track of your progress and what you have learned/skills. (Appdev used to offer this but it was way too expensive (thousands for each training ie 1k for each. I paid about five thousand at Appdev, and now I regret that purchase), and after a few years/months the training became obsolete - outdated) I looked at learnnowonline.com/learndevnow but it seems that their courseware / text reference material can only be accessed online, and don't know if their videos work in all mobile devices, and browsers (Safari, Chrome, IE, Opera, Firefox) Also, it seems Appdev not longer exist and now is called " AppDev is now LearnNowPlus : www.learnnowonline.com/appdev That site not longer offers prices. I tried to find reviews but could not find any. Does anyone know, or can share a review about some of these type of online training service providers?     Estimados Lectores,   Luego de un tiempo ausente en mi blog, re-tomamos el rumbo… en esta oportunidad quiero comunicarles que iniciaré una serie de screencast sobre ASP.NET MVC, en donde me estare enfocando desde los conceptos básicos del patrón, pasaremos por las definiciones y conceptos utilizados dentro del ASP.NET MVC para la Vista, El controlador y el Modelo.   Estos videos tengo pensados que sean cápsulas no mayores a los 10 minutos para que sean fáciles de entender y visualizar.   Para los que quieran prepararse con tiempo les recomiendo descargar las tools requeridas para esta series-curso:   Descargar los tools de ASP.NET MVC 3 para VS2010: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=1491 , seleccionar el archivo “AspNetMVC3ToolsUpdateSetup.exe” (Nota: si tienen el web platform installer también pueden instalar desde esta tool el ASP.NET MVC 3)   Recuerden que pueden utilizar el Web Developer Express 2010 también para el desarrollo:  mi recomendación es que lo hagan por medio del Web Platform Installer:  Install Visual Web Developer Express Free   Bueno esten pendientes de los próximos videos que estaré publicando.   Cualquier comentario o sugerencia es bienvenido!   Saludos   Carlos A.
