• Send custom data when initializing java WebService over soap

  Hello. I have a question about sending additional data over soap to the functions. My webService function requests only one integer, for example an getDocumentPrivilage(DocumentID). In another WebService user registered and he got an unique ID, so the other application can see who he is. So on Service one he registers, gets id and it has to send it to the other webservice tor the privilage. Id dont wish to rewrite the function so that it gets the unique ID (like this getDocumentPrivilage(uniqID,DocumentID)) but, the wish is that i would be able to create a client that sends this data at the initialization or somehow as some sort of parameter behind the function. Is this possible?? I tried the ServiceLifecycle but cant see any setting i've given in. Im using WebSphere CE for the server and Jax-ws Creating the webapp in java. • Processing SMTP bounces with .net

  Am looking for examples specific to .net/mvc and servers native WinServer08 where problem being addressed is processing a bounced smtp msg so as to bind to an estore transaction and updating account/profile properties. Reading the related questions i find an interesting reference to [VERP]2. Under the heading 'Software that supports VERP i find that IIS is not on the list. Does that mean i need to find a library to integrate into my store's assembly? What resources do I have to pull together to make sure that the webapp is informed when mail bounces? fwiw - i'm working with a very low volume site.

• Searching for the right pattern to handle login data

  Hi all, I'm working on a controller that handles logins for a Web app. These logins will come from multiple clients but will all contain the same data. However, depending on the client, this data will be interpreted into common entities for our webapp differently. For instance, we have a user code that gets sent in, and in one case we may use the first four digits of the code, and in another case 12 digits of the code to map to a field on a User entity. Instead of handling this all in the controller and having big nasty if blocks of logic, I would like to use a pattern to handle how this information gets ingested into our application. What are your opinions?

• iPhone / Android: what protocol stacks do apps use for connecting to centralised services?

  Hi All, Aplogies for the ignorant question, I have no experience with app development on any mobile platform. Basically what I want to know is what communication protocols do apps typically use for accessing/querying centralised services? E.g if I port a webapp/service to iPhone/Andriod, typically how would I access/query this web service in my app? E.g is it over HTTP, or are there other protocols? Also, presumably the GUI of an app is constructed with Apple/Andriod GUI libraries (in java? cocoa?). Can an app GUI be defined with HTML/javascript like a webpage? Sorry again for the pure noob questions. Thanks

• How to execute maven tasks in eclipse (Sonatype plugin)

  Hi all I know it must be something simple, but I just can't figure it out.. I'm using the Sonatype maven plugin on eclipse. When I want to build a war file for a webapp project, the only way I know to do it is to use the command line and type mvn package. I've looked all through the right click menu and I can't find any way to do it from eclipse. There's a maven submenu that seems to have no options to do with building, and there's a run menu that doesn't seem right - I don't want to run my project - I just want to build it. There is a maven build option in the run menu, but if I run it, a configuration window pops up for me to enter goals in.. How I do I just do a simple mvn package, but through gui? What am I missing? • Eclipse buildpath automatically taking all JARs of a internal directory

  How do I configure my project buildpath to have a set of .jar files located in the same directory automatically included in the buildpath ? Meaning that adding a new .jar file to this directory (and refreshing the project) updates the buildpath ? Rem : I am not working in a Webapp but in a standalone Java app. I know that it is possible in a Dynamic Web Project to have all the .jars located in WEB-INF/lib to be included in the build path. Is it possible to do kind of the same include but in standalone app ? I am using Eclipse 3.4

• Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysqli_connect()

  I have installed WAMP. I am using Tomcat 6 to run my PHP scripts. I am also using JavaBridge.war and I have copied my php scripts into \webapp\JavaBridge\project. I have removed the semicolon from php.ini file before the statements extension=php_mysqli.dll extension=php_mysql.dll I have added C:\wamp\bin into my PATH env variable. I have copied all dll's from C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.0\ext into C:\windows\system32 I am still getting this error. Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysqli_connect() in C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\project\pf_query.php on line 534 Note - I dont get this error when I run my PHP script from Apache 2.2.11 of the WAMP package.

• Netbeans not Dploying/Debugging

  Hello all, I have this problem, it's the second time it happens to me, I'm using the NB IDE 6.9.1 and after a while I was working fine, but then It stopped deploying my webapp when debugging or running the application, I don't recall messing with the ant build scripts or any strange configurations, it successfully builds the dist folder and *.war file, but I cannot debug it or run it, all I get is ClassNotFoundException for my servlets. I am unsure of what extra information would help to solve this issue Its pretty annoying, I don't know how it got solved the last time, it just "went away" any help is truly appreciated.

  I am looking for examples of code/data/infrastructure design for a dashboard-style webapp. I am designing an interface for staff and faculty at a university to access departmental resources and be alerted of cyclical processes, events, deadlines, etc. Technologies I am working with: apache tomcat 6 and a mySQL database, JSP (including JSTL), bootstrap 3, and javascript/jquery. I have basic experience most of these technologies building smaller web apps but was hoping someone could direct me towards a book or other resource that discusses how to design the db architecture (and maybe how to template) for a dashboard, esp. for something like a notification systems. Any suggestions?

• Parent Thread exiting before Child Threads [python]

  I'm using Python in a webapp (CGI for testing, FastCGI for production) that needs to send an occasional email (when a user registers or something else important happens). Since communicating with an SMTP server takes a long time, I'd like to spawn a thread for the mail function so that the rest of the app can finish up the request without waiting for the email to finish sending. I tried using thread.start_new(func, (args)), but the Parent return's and exits before the sending is complete, thereby killing the sending process before it does anything useful. Is there anyway to keep the process alive long enough for the child process to finish?

• Possible to not use ID field but another column name? in Lift

  I am connected to a oracle database from a scala/lift webapp. I have been able to successfully pull information from the database as I wished but am having one issue. For each table I want to access I am required to add an ID field so that the app will work with the trait IdPK. What mapper class or trait can I use to override this? I have been trying to find one but been unable to locate it. Figured people have not always had an ID field on every table they make that is just called ID... class DN_REC extends LongKeyedMapper[DN_REC] with IdPK { def getSingleton = DN_REC object dn_rec_id extends MappedInt(this){ } This is what I am talking about. I would like to use the dn_rec_id as my primary key as it is on the table. Thanks

• HTML reuse, create template

  After about a year doing Asp.net web forms, I stepped out (for the most part) from the .net world. I'm now working on a webapp that uses a lot of client side scripting and uses WebAPI for data access. I have a HTML section that allows note taking. I would like to make this HTML section into a template that I can reuse elsewhere on the site (e.g., insert this piece of HTML code into another web page). I'm a bit befuddled on how to go about this. Think of my problem as trying to create a "user control" in asp.net web forms ... only that I am not using web forms. Just good old fashioned HTML, CSS, Javascript, jquery, and knockout. Conceptually, I'd think that others have been in the same spot as myself. Can anyone elaborate a solution or at least provide some pointers? Thanks !

First I am taking the war folder already exploded and copy it in jetty/webapps, then in folder context.   In a simple webapp I need to map URLs to filenames or filepaths. This app has a requirement that it can depend only on modules in the core Perl ditribution (5.6.0 and later). The problem is that filename length on most filesystems is limited to 255. Another limit is about 32k subdirectories in a single folder. • Android browser javascript events when minimised

  I'm building a webapp for Android smartphones that runs with the OS internet browser. the main interface is to input datas. the data is added to a queue (android 1.5: gears, android 2.x: html5). Each 5 minutes (using setTimeout), the script looks if an internet connection is active, and if so, sends all the queue to the server. If the phone is plugged on the wall and the webpage is ontop, the timeout works. if the browser is minimized or another application runs on top of it, the timeout doesn't work. if the phone is in sleep mode it doesn't work either. can only native apps runs in background?

• Separating Spring and Dojo single page app codebases

  I'm working on a web application with a Spring Roo REST API backend and a Dojo single-page client app. Spring Roo provides a handy admin interface (with Web MVC) out of the box, so I'd like to keep that accessible for administrative duties. However I'd like the Dojo app to be decoupled from the server application as possible. The server is a platform for which we expect new client applications to be developed, so I'd like to develop the 'official' client web app in isolation. What is the best (or even just one good) way to structure the application code? It's easy to leave the server alone as an API and admin interface, but where does all the Dojo JS live? It works okay when it's in the Spring webapp directory, but gets complicated quickly as soon as the structure gets more complex or is moved anywhere else (Spring URL mappings are still awfully opaque to me). Ideally it could be hosted locally on a development machine, which introduces all the cross-domain JS issues as well.

• II7 integrated mode MVC deploy 404 not found on "non-Index" actions

  Hello. Once deployed parts of my web-application stop working. Index-es on each controller do work, other then that yields 404. I understand that nothing particular should be done in integrated mode. I don't know how to proceed with troubleshooting. Some info: App is using default app pool set to integrated mode. WebApp is done in net framework 3.5. I use default routing model. Along web.config in root there is web.config in /View folder referencing HttpNotFoundHandler. OS is Windows Server 2008. Any help is appreciated. Thx.

I want to have my backend provides API as service, so that anytime, if I have to develop same app for any client, I can use that back-end API (web services). What is the best approach? • linux+apache+sqlite=death?

  The title is a joke. However it is serious as far as my app is concerned. I am running apache with mod mono and my asp.net app is using mono sqlite as its db. When i refresh the page twice i get the DB is locked error. The folder it is in is chmod 777. The webapp is creating sqlite.db and sqlite.db-journal but it doesnt seem to be able to delete the journal. i'm confused. What permissions do i need to set these? i tried precreating the files using 777 and had no luck.

  As a homework i need to make a webapp that will play an mp3 file and the user has to guess the name of the song or the band in a certain time. My question is where can i get this songs? Is there any website that offers mp3's and an api from which i can get songs along with the band and the name?   Does anyone know any sane reason for such bundling decision? Google engineers act wisely in most cases, so this kinda surprized me. This would cause collisions with other versions of servlet API pulled via Maven dependencies: webapp classpath will likely contain version which is bundled with GWT; container may refuse to load the GWT jar as it contains the javax.servlet package; in most cases this will likely deviate classpaths across your IDE's debugger and the really executing VM.
