  I have my greasemonkey script scanning every page i visit for a specific string. I would like to recordkeep the variations of the string in a sqlite db. I'll have another app process this db everyonce in a while. What i dont know is HOW do i store the data into the sqlite db? i was thinking i can launch an executable automatically if the string was found but i dont know how to do that through javascript. Another alternative i thought was have a socket listen on a certain port and have some js magic but i couldnt think of a silent way to send data like that.

  I am not starting an argumentative discussion here and this post is not about career development, but from the commercial point of view: If a company was using ASP.Net MVC as a main methodology to build their web sites and application. However, ASP.Net MVC takes more time to show a functional application than ASP.Net Web Forms, for example, building domain models would take some time which obviously can't be represented on a UI at that current stage. My question is, if a client wants to see a functional demo application (just a proof of concept) so he knows that the company he is dealing with is professional and capable of doing that. Would it be better to do that demo in ASP.Net Web Forms only to show the client, and then work on the real application using ASP.Net MVC? If not, what are the (quick) alternatives?, I mean, if we tell the client to wait till we have a working demo (by ASP.Net MVC) we may lose the client and the whole project opportunity.

  Hi folks, I've a problem with JBoss 3.2.6.   Hello, Is it possible to launch an application from a browser? I am not talking about opening a file from a browser (like open a PDF with Adobe Reader), but rather opening a new (blank) instance of an application that is installed on the user's machine. Hypothetical situation: User browses a website that lists computers that can be managed via RDP. He clicks on a link to 192.168.1.10, that link opens Microsoft RDP client (mstsc.exe) with that ip address already filled out. I am talking strictly about Windows universe. Is that thing even doable outside of ActiveX and IE? Is it wise to attempt this in IE with ActiveX ? Thanks a lot,

• iPhone app launch times and Core Data migration

  I have a Core Data application which I plan to update with a new schema. The lightweight migration seems to work, but it takes time proportional to the amount of data in the database. This occurs in the didFinishLaunchingWithOptions phase of the app. I want to avoid <app> failed to launch in time problems, so I assume I cannot keep the migration in the didFinishLaunchingWithOptions method. I assume the best method would involve performing the migration in a background thread. I assume also that I'd need to defer loading of the main ViewController until the loading completes to avoid using the managedObjectContext until initialization completes. Does this make sense, and is there example code (maybe in Apple sample projects) of this sort of initialization?

• Launch x64 Windows application in C# while the project is set to x86

  Hi all I'm trying to launch the osk.exe and I keep getting "Could not start osk" message. The problem is that my project is set to x86 (i'm using a ms access database). If I switch to x64 or Any CPU everything works fine but the database will no longer work. I tried this using System.Diagnostics; private void btnOSK_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { Process.Start("osk.exe"); Process.Start(@"C:\windows\system32\osk.exe"); } I also tried to run SysWOWW\osk but this also didn't work. Besides my application should run on both x86 and x64 machines. Is there any way to bypass this? It's really frustrating.

• Quick and dirty way to store NSStrings (or other data) from launch to launch?

  I want to allow my user to store custom phrases, to be displayed in an editable UITableView. What's a quick and dirty to store these strings? I'm fairly new at iPhone development. I know about Core Data, but not how to use it. i would stay away form that just for this particular project if possible. Are PLIST files a possibility here? Sample code is appreciated. Thank you.

• Cocoa Launch agent registering itself after installation.

  I have created Cocoa app which is type of launch agent. To distribute this I have created package as well which installs the app and copies the launchagnet plist file in /Libraries/LaunchAgents. Now the problem is after installation i want this app to be running in user context immediately without logoff/restart. If I register this with "launchctl" from installer, using post install script, it run in root context, as installer is running in root context. Any suggestion how the agent registers itself to launchctl and runs in user context.

• Clickonce application does not update or launch.

  I have a winforms application that I have deployed using clickonce, but the users navigate to a network drive and double click on setup.msi instead of using a webpage to install it. I have two users that have it installed and it's worked in the past. I did an udpate last week and now when the users try to launch the application the window that says "Verifying Application Requirements" pops up then when it disappears nothing happens. The dialog asking if it's ok to update never pops up. The network people have verified that they have permissions on the network drive (though, I would expect an error message if this were the issue). Any clues what could cause this to happen?

• Unable to export runnable jar, launch configuration grayed out

  I am not able to figure out how to export a runnable jar in eclipse. I have a java project (project A) (written by someone else) which when imported in Eclipse, I can click Build Project and it will create a projectName.jar file under bin/ directory. That jar file contains binary *.class files. This jar file is added as external library for another java project (project B) which I want to debug. But because all the class files are binary I'm not able to do line-by-line debugging. I tried exporting Runnable Jar in Eclipse, for that I have to select a Launch Configuration. But there is no main class in project A. (I recursively grepped for main and didn't find any). What can I do to export jar of project A that contains respective source code also (which will be used in line-by-line debugging)?

  Hey there, Haven't been able to find a solution to this around the net or these forums - apologise if I've missed something! My .htaccess RewriteRules are working well - have search-engine and user -friendly links in my web pages, and unfriendly database URLs running hidden in the background. Except when I added a RewriteRule to add "www." to the front of URLs if the user didn't enter it - to ensure only one appears in search engines. Here's what now happening, and I can't figure out why!   There is a functionality in my module, where the user can scan the number of serial ports in the system and when the user clicks "Auto scan" button, the code will have to go through each serial port and send a test message and wait for the reply. I am using Progress bar control to show process of autoscan. For which i need to pass the value to "x" and "Y" in my code to update the bar. How can i pass the value since my code is already in a foreach loop for getting the serialports. • Flex 3 - Scroll bar issue

  Im currently learning Flex, and Im having the hardest time getting scroll bars to work. In short Im pretty much just making a giant form for users to fill out, contained within a viewstack component, the user will type up information in one view, and it will be displayed in the other. But right now in the first canvas i have components that run of the screen and flex doesnt seem to automate a scroll bar, so i added in 'verticalScrollPolicy="on"' to my canvas, now while it gives me a scroll bar, it gives me an empty scroll bar, I still cannot move it up or down, meaning components are still trapped off the bottom of my screen. Im I missing something amazingly simple?   I am trying to create an updater for my program which automatically download's the latest version of my program from the web. Now I want this process to be done using a progress bar (so when the download progress is at 50% the progress bar is half-way through). • JQuery Progress Bar Inline Text

  Hello, I am trying to use the basic progress bar however I am unable to figure out the css/command to actually put some text inside the bar. I am using this progress bar: http://docs.jquery.com/UI/Progressbar however I am open to other ones if they are just as simple to implement. I want it to display in the left corner some static information and then a percentage of complete somewhere in the right section. All css I attempted to do just made the information display below or to the side of. As well I am unsure how to actually have this CSS change based on a JQuery method (new to JQuery). below is my actual JQuery. • iPhone xcode - Activity Indicator with tab bar controller and multi table view controllers

  I've looked for a tutorial and can't seem to find one for a activity indicator in a table view nav bar. in my mainWindow.xib I have a Tab Bar Controller with 4 Tabs controllers each containing a table view. each load JSON feeds using the framework hosted at Google. In one of my View Controller I can add an activity indicator to the nav bar by using: UIActivityIndicatorView *activityIndcator = [[UIActivityIndicatorView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,0,20,20)]; [activityIndcator startAnimating]; UIBarButtonItem *activityItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:activityIndcator]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = activityItem; however and can turn it off by using: self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem.enabled = FALSE; But if i place this in my viewDidLoad event it shows all the time. I only want it to show when I select a row in my table view. so I added it at the top of didSelectRowAtIndexPath and the stop line after I load a feed. it shows but takes a second or two and only shows for about half a second. is the an event that firers before the didSelectRowAtIndexPath event a type of loading event? if not what is the standard menthord for implementing such functionality?

• DataGridView: Scroll bar does not refreshed

  I am working (fixing bugs) on a project which was written in VS 2005. There is one DataGridView control on a form. When it is first time loaded, the control's data grid is populated with rows of data from a collection manually or in codes. Actually, there is method PopulateDataGrid() do the job. There is also another control on the form. When control is changed, the data grid will be cleared first and then rows are repopulated again through PopulateDataGrid(). The problem is that when the grid is refreshed, the vertical scroll bar does not get reset correctly. I thought it should be. Since the scroll bar is not reset, when I tried to click on grid and move down, I got exception: the max value of scroll bar was exceeded. All the settings for grid control are default values. For example, the ScrollBars is Both. The following is the only related place to set row auto size property: poDataGridView.AutoSizeRowsMode = DataGridViewAutoSizeRowsMode.DisplayedCellsExceptHeaders; I am not sure if there is any property I have to set in designer?

  Hello, I am working to force a view into landscape mode, and have picked up all kinds of cool tips to make this happen, but am stuck on one item that is left on the screen. I have my XIB file laid out in landscape, and in my code I create the view controller normally: RedeemViewController *aViewController = [[RedeemViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"RedeemViewController" bundle:nil]; aViewController.hidesBottomBarWhenPushed = YES; aViewController.wantsFullScreenLayout = YES; [[self navigationController] pushViewController:aViewController animated:YES]; Inside the controller viewDidLoad I complete the following: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight]; [[self navigationController] setNavigationBarHidden:YES animated:YES]; [UIView beginAnimations:@"View Flip" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:.75]; [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseInOut]; if (self.interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait) { self.view.transform = CGAffineTransformIdentity; self.view.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(degreesToRadian(90)); self.view.bounds = CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, 480, 320); } [UIView commitAnimations]; What I end up with is a perfectly rotated view, with a grey vertical bar on the left side (see pic). So to the question, how do I get rid of the bar? Edit: I am pretty sure this is the navigation bar that is not being hidden. • issue with tab bar view displaying a compound view

  I created a tab bar application, and I make the first tab a table. So I create a tableView controller, and go about setting the class identity of the view controller for the first tab to my tableView controller. This works fine, and I see the contents of the table filling up the whole screen. However, this is not what I actually want in the end goal - I would like a compound window having multiple views: - the aforementioned table - a custom view with data in it So what I do is create a nib for this content (call it contentNib), change the tab's class from the tableView controller to a generic UIViewController, and set the nib of that tab to this new contentNib. In this new contentNib I drag on a tableView and set File's Owner to the TableViewController. I then link the dataSource and delegate to file's owner (which is TableViewController). Surprisingly this does not work and I receive the error: **Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[UIViewController tableView:numberOfRowsInSection:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3b0f910'** This is bewildering to me since the file's owner is the TableViewController, which has been assigned to be both the dataSource and delegate. Does someone have either insight into my confusions, or a link to an example of how to have a compound view include a tableView? *update* I see this in the Apple TableView programming guide: "Note: You should use a UIViewController subclass rather than a subclass of UITableViewController to manage a table view if the view to be managed is composed of multiple subviews, one of which is a table view. The default behavior of the UITableViewController class is to make the table view fill the screen between the navigation bar and the tab bar (if either are present)." <----- I don't really get what this is telling me to do though... if someone can explain or point me to an example I'd be much appreciated!
