    Hi, I have a search bar in my main screen - root table view controller. If I browse other screens and come back, sometimes, the search bar disappears.   • Image-free, custom-styled search bar

    I'm working with the designer and he sent me the following design for the search bar on our webpage: I'm very much against using images in webpage design unless completely necessary, so I'm hoping that I can recreate the whole search bar widget in CSS. I know how to do border-radius, gradients, box-shadows, etc, so that's not a problem. Question: Assuming CSS3 browser compatibility, how can I go about recreating the actual search button (the magnifying glass portion) with the double curved edge, and the slight drop shadow on the bottom left? Thoughts: My initial feeling was that the search button would be circular and free-standing, then overlap the search input div with a negative left-margin, but then I was unsure how I would get that drop shadow. Edit: I'm not completely opposed to using an image for the magnifying glass, but I've seen a similar icon created in CSS before. Would an image vs. pure CSS end up loading at the same speed, or should I do all I can do in pure CSS?

  • Google Chrome window.open height includes URL bar

    When we open a window using: window.open("/calendar",'calendar','width=950,height=576,titlebar=no,statusbar=no,menubar=no,resizable=no,scrollbars=no'); Firefox 3 and IE 7 open it to have a content area height of 576 plus the browser items (URL bar, status bar, etc). Chrome however opens it to have a total height of 576 meaning a scrollbar appears to the right of the content (and then the bottom because the width is now reduced). How can I get around this? It's for a heavy layout part of a web app so it's not just a matter of "let the user scroll", the client doesn't want that. Has anyone come across this? I don't mind browser sniffing and opening the window bigger, but I know that's yucky these days.

  • How to remove this bottom bar in UITabBar?

    I am trying to do some customization on UITabBar. I am almost done with everything. However, I saw a small bar on the bottom of each UITabBarItem. I don't know what object it is. Can someone please tell me how to remove it? Or if someone can tell me how to make the UIImage inside the UITabBarItem to be displayed in front of that unknown bar. It is good enough. Cannot post image due to insufficient reputation.

    hi friends, i have a problem while adding button to the navigation bar.. My application consist of two view controllers added to the viewControllers array of a tabBarController. Inturn this tabBarController is added to the viewControllers array of a navigationController. In one of the views i have a textfield for entering dates . On the tap of this textfield the datepicker will pop up. simultaneously i want to display a done button on the navigation bar. how can i do this... i tried using self.tabBarController.navigationController.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = self.doneButton; But this is not working...     My app is an emergency app. It will be used by people in emergency and disasters. It's possible that they got stuck in situations where they just don't have the time to enter or draw their password, launch the appp and push a button. Is it possible that ask the OS to launch the app if user throw their iphone up in the air or shake it vigrously or something else. PS: I think it's possible with the accelerometer.

    Hello, I'm having this annoyning problem giving this message in the console: Failed to launch simulated application: iPhone Simulator failed to find the process ID of com.iAndApp.BlockPop. When trying to Build and Run, the application builds fine. The simulator starts but doesn't start the application. However, it manages to do something since the icon for the app is installed in the simulator. I have been searching to find the answer and tried a couple of things, none that worked. This happens for both new and old projects. I.e. when I create a new project I will receive the same error message. I've tried several projects of which all get the same error, so it's not related to the code (and successful builds proves it). Among other things I have updated to xCode 3.2.2. in order to try to solve the problem. Using Mac OSX 10.6.3.   • Deploy and Run application at beginning of WIX Install

    I'm trying to deploy and run an application (C# console app) at the beginning of the MSI install with WIX but having some difficulty. The application needs to run before any of the webserver actions happen but after the files have been copied from the MSI to the target location. I can get the app to run but only if I have actually copied the application in the directory before I run the MSI. If I don't do that, I get an error relating to the app not existing in the MSI logs. So basically I think it has to do with the launch sequence I am using I need to ensure that the app exists before it is run. Wondering if one of you good folks could help me out. The requirement is that the application must run as the first thing the WIX MSI does, (well actually before any of the webservice parts happen).   • long startup time...Need help

    My app is all done and working great. So now I ran it on a old iPhone and the app takes 17.3 seconds to start!?!? i spent a lot of time looking into it and i found that the reason it is taking so long to load is i have a lot of views and each view has a png background image. All my views and made in IB and in my code: #import "MyTestAppDelegate.h" #import "MyTestViewController.h" @implementation MyTestAppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize viewController; - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { // Override point for customization after app launch [window addSubview:viewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } - (void)dealloc { [viewController release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; } @end At the end of the code where is says: [window addSubview:viewController.view]; the app seems to be loading all the views in the nib at the same time. All the png's from all the views are about 12mb. There is no need for the app to load all the views at the same time during startup. Is there a way i can only load the first "home" view at startup? (All the views are part of the same nib.)

  • Hidden Launch Bar wouldn't slide-out when moused over, now it won't hide away.

    When the launch bar is hidden, I have trouble getting it to slide out when I move the mouse pointer to the left side. After adjusting the settings under Settings--Appearance--Behavior, the bar no longer hides when a browser is open. Is there a fix for this. This all happened when I was looking for a way to change the icon sizes in the launch bar. Documentation from Linux.com told me to do it under Settings--Appearance, but there was no way to do it. Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

    i have a website, some folders on the websites contains images and files like .pdf , .doc and .docx . the user can easly just type the address in the url to get the file or display the photo http://site/folder1/img/pic1.jpg then boom.. he can see the image or just download the file my question is: how to prevent this kind of action, how can i guarantee a secure access of the files. any suggestions UPDATE TO CLARIFY MY IDEA i don't want any user who is browsing the website to get access to these files normally by just writing the URL of the file. those files are a CV files, they are being uploaded by the users to a specific folder on the server which we host outside the company. those files are only being viewed by the HR people through a special system. that's the scenario we want. i don't want a WEB GEEK who just wants to see what files has been uploaded to this folder to download them easly to his/her computer and view them or publish them on the internet. i hope you got my idea

  • Unix copy command that has a progress bar, but not as heavy as rsync

    I need to copy lots of files. Usually I use rsync because I pass it the -aP options and I can see (a) how many files are left to process and (b) how much of each individual file is copied. However rsync also does lots of things with checksums to verify that a file was copied. However I don't really need that now. But normal cp doesn't include the above mentioned count of files left, which is very helpful. Is there anything like cp that includes progress of how many files left, but isn't as heavy as rsync?

    Suppose I am visiting a page in Firefox and decide to go somewhere else and type the new URL manually into the address field, but the page fails to load, either because it times out, or because I hit Escape. Then Firefox removes my laboriously entered URL and replaces it with the URL of the current page. This is outrageous! I am pretty sure Firefox has changed this behavior lately, because this was one of the reasons I chose Firefox over IE back in the day. How can I turn off this annoying behavior?   • Excel graph: turn stacked bar chart into part bullet chart

    I've a simple data file that has one column of actuals and another of target against categories. I would like to turn the TARGET figure into a 'Bullet marker'. I've seen it done on other graphs but I'm struggling with the category column being overwritten with the xy axis values. Or if I get close to doing it then the xy markers are not central. I've checked out Peltier but his examples are based on even more comlicated data than mine, so the steps required didn't seem to match up. Help greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike.
