• Adding custom tags in Wordpress

  Hello, I'm creating a new WP theme and I would like to allow the user to insert a divider in between paragraphs or images he/she is entering, for a post/page. I want the output to be something like: <div class="divider"></div> But I don't want the user to have to enter HTML in the WYSIWYG editor. Is it possible to ask them to enter something like: <-- break --> and then translate that to the div markup on display? Thanks.

• Idioms for a three-state toggle?

  I have a table column where each row has one of three states, and the purpose of the row is to offer manipulation AND display of this property with three states. My current development view is to have three tightly packed radio buttons with labels at the head of the columns (and every 50 rows or so) and onClick they send an AJAX request and thar she blows. This is fugly. Is there a standard idiom for a control like this? I'm currently mocking up something similar to the iPhone on/off toggle, but with a "middle" state. Any input would be welcome.

• deny direct access to a php file by typing the link in the url

  hi, I am using php session for a basic login without encryption for my site. I want to prevent a user from directly accessing a php page by typing the url when he/she is not signed in. But this is not happening. I am using session_start(), initializing session variables and aslo unsetting and destroying sesssion during logout. Also if I type the link in a different browser the page is getting displayed. I am not very well versed with php , only a beginner. I googled for such problem and found few alternatives as keeping all files in a seperate folder from the web root, using .htaccess etc. Can someone explain in simple terms what could be a good solution.thanks in advance.

  We are storing people's class attendance information to Drupal. We would like to show this in a grid/chart, where the first column of each row shows person's name, and rest of the columns (ca. 20) either a checkbox or "X" if the user attended a class, or otherwise an non-checked box or empty column: (dates here) Jack X XXX X X Jill XX XXX XX It should also be possible to edit the attendance information on the grid. Each attendance information is a node of its own. This functionality can probably mostly be achieved using views and editablefields, but there is one problem: if a person has not attended a specific class he/she will not have at all an attendace node for that day. What would be the easiest way to create an attendace node in those cases, so that it would be possible for the end user to edit the grid by just clicking on the checkbox or typing an 'X'?

  Hey, I have an .xml file that is going to be shipped within my app. This file contains values that are read from it and saved as an array when the app launches. Each time the app is run, I want to check with the server if there is an internet connection. If so, I want to get the newest version of the .xml file from the server and replace the one that I currently have saved in my app (this way, the next time the user logs in and doesn't have internet access, he/she will be able to use the old (yet most up to date) data). • Does NavigationHandler.handleNavigation() clear the flash?

  I am using JSF2.0 Mojarra 2.0.2. I have a method that logs out a user and puts a logout message in the flash, forwards to the login page (which has a div that prints out the flash). However, when I use navigationHandlers handleNavigation method for some reason the flash is not being displayed. I have a similar method that forwards a user to the login page if he/she isn't logged in. If I handle the navigation through an h:link and just call the logout method directly, the flash is displayed as normal, but if I use the handleNavigation() method, the flash is cleared for some reason. The code in question is: public void performLogout() { getFacesContext().getExternalContext().invalidateSession(); setCurrentUser(null); getFlash().put("notice", "Successfully logged out."); super.getFacesContext().getApplication().getNavigationHandler() .handleNavigation(getFacesContext(), null, "login"); } Is there some way I can keep the flash when navigating like this? thanks.

There are also tons of articles about designing 404 error pages. But, what can you do when it's a new, unhandled error provoked by a failure in the shoftware? Are there some guidelines about how to nicely report totally unexpected errors in a web site, as an unexpected error 500? What header message should be shown in that case? something like "Sorry, an unexpected error has ocurred" would be enough? What information should be given? Should it have mechanisms to help to report the failure to developers? Which ones?

  I'm working on a sports website and need to convert the server's match start time to local match start time. After much googling, I figured the fastest and most accurate way is to get the GMT offset value in JavaScript. The trouble is, I can't pass the GMT offset value to PHP. I've tried using both the PHP session and cookie variables, but both are always empty. The website doesn't require a user account, so there isn't any stored GMT value in the database. I'm trying to auto-detect each user's local timezone every time he/she visits the website, and then calculate the local match start time based on the timezone offset. Can someone please advise me? • Custom Terms of Use Page before login to SharePoint.

  Hello I am using MOSS with ADS. I want to display Terms of Use page before the user can login into SharePoint with two button i.e. "Accept","Decline". If user select "Accept" he will be directed to sharepoint site, if not to our companies intranet front page. This will be applicable for the current session. ie. If the user has signed off, then it should prompt the terms of use again when user hits the MOSS site but once accepted user should not get this page again until he/she signs off. Please advise.   If we take a look at the String#substring method implementation : new String(offset + beginIndex, endIndex - beginIndex, value); We see that a new String is created with the same original content (parameter char [] value). So the workaround is to use new String(toto.substring(...)) to drop the reference to the original char[] value and make it eligible for GC (if no more references exist). I would like to know if there is a special reason that explain this implementation. Why the method doesn't create herself the new shorter String and why she keeps the full original value instead? The other related question is : should we always use new String(...) when dealing with substring?

• SVG Animation in Python? - Any options other than Things! 0.4?

  I recently gave my daughter some time on the computer, and she really likes a program called 'BabySmash!', and I also have another program that came with a keyboard attachment called 'Laugh, Smile & Learn' from playschool I think. I'm not a python guru by any stretch of the imagination and I kind of have it in my head that I want to create some sort of program in the spirit of these two, with vector animation and sounds. Thing is, it doesn't look like there are many options for vector animation in python. I found a library called Things! 0.4, but it's lacking in-depth documentation and seems to be more of an experiment in vector animation rather than a full blown solution. Are there any options that I'm not immediately finding? What other animation-libraries do you recommend? Even if the library isn't vector-based, ease of use is probably the strongest factor in my use.

  erm im trying to make a personal bible for my psp (i tried googling but the only bible version i've seen on my skimming is on KJV and im trying to make mine have 3 versions namely TNIV, NLT and Amplified Bible) so my only solution was to make on for myself and my approach was to save an html file on my mem-stick and open it up through the console's browser my concerns are: 1. how does the psp browser handle css and javascript? 2. is there a doctype declaration specifically designed for the psp browser? 3. can i use any local database to store my texts for easier query or do i have no choice but rely on static text files? 4. is there anyone in SO who have experienced developing a page for this console and can he/she give me some tips and advice? thanks much in advance for your responses.. :)

  My friend wants to store electrically her school -notes and process them fast, with backups. She has over 2GB -size repo already and growing all the time (mostly appended material i.e. more school notes, different formats, pdf, pictures and scanned, some text -files, etc). The goal of my friend is to process fast the notes. I suggested command like this here i.e. "# crontab -e @weekly wget --random-wait -e robots=off -U mozilla -mirror http://VeryLong.com". But I think plugging in Rsync somewhere could make it much better with Git. How would you help my friend to process and store the school -material under Git-version-controlling and still keep the size reasonable?   There is a perl script that needs to run as root but the we must make sure the user who runs the script did not log-in originally as user foo as it will be removed during the script. So how can I find out if the user, who might have su-ed several times since she logged in has not impersonated 'foo' at any time in that chain?   I would like to have a webpage something like windows tab control. Each webpage does not lose the contents and data while moving between pages, postbacks, etc. Here is the website design and my idea: [Master Page] "Fruits" "Cars" "Animals" "Operators" clicking on "Fruits" will forwards to "Fruits" page, and the same for other links (tabs) The user works on "Fruits" page searching fruits, fill up some fields, etc. The user then moves to "Cars" page and then builds up his own car by filling some fields, etc and then the user goes back to "Fruits" page again - the user sees the same page where she/he left on "Fruits" page. Please suggest some good ways other than using javascript:history.go(-1). Is this possible to implement?

I want that i give users option to share the image. every image will have unique url so they can share image on facebook,twitter , do i need to put images with their url in mysql database or you do it in cloud? user will write text and then script will convert it to image and show it as image. then i want to provide user that he/she can share their created image. • Can I use notepad++ exe in my application ?

  I am parsing html file with the help of the html agility pack to extract the table data from the html file. But there is some html files where there is no ending tags which is optional or there is no starting tag which is also optional.So html agility pack does not parse that html page properly.If I open the content of that html file in the notepad++ then with the option TestFX-->TestFX HTML Tidy-->TiDy clean document and make the content tidy like this. And now this file If I parse with the html agility pack then it parse it properly. Making html page tidy with notepad++ is best option. So I don't know but user can not do this like first he/she makes the page tidy with notepad++ and then go ahead.Then what should I do ?

  Hello, I am trying develop a basic referrer system to my Django website, system will be generating a unique url for each users to share with their friends. Once these friends enter this website, system somehow keep the data that "this user is browsing by the reference of X user" and once this invited person decided to register for an account, system will save this information (maybe as an extra Foreign Key of the inviting user in the UserProfile model) Now how can I keep track of the inviting user from the moment entering using the referred link to the point where he/she registers to the site. Would session framework work on this? If not how could this be done ?
