• OpenGLES mix and match blending options complicated question

  So I have a background line drawing, black and white. I want to be able to draw over this, keeping the black lines in there, and drawing only where it is white. I can do this by using glBlendFunc(GL_DST_COLOR, GL_ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA); And the black stays black and white gets whatever color I want. However in the white areas, I want to be able to draw some color, pick to another color and then blend. However this doesn't work because the blend function is messed up. So what I was thinking is having a linedrawing framebuffer, and a user-drawing framebuffer. The user draws into the userdrawing framebuffer, with a different blending, and then I switch blending options and draw into the linedrawing framebuffer. But i don't know enough OpenGL to say whether or not this will work or is a stupid idea. Thanks a lot

• adding options to IKSaveOptions?

  I have an ImageKit program that needs to be able to save images, so I'm using the IKSaveOptions accessory view, to allow the user to choose a file type, etc. However, I want to remove some of the options, and add a checkbox to the panel for TIFFs. Alternatively, I want to add a type of file. However I can't figure out how to do this. I assume I'm going to have to subclass off of IKSaveOptions and over-ride something, but I can't find any sample code or documentation that tells me how to do this. ETA: In particular, I need to be able to allow the user to distinguish between multi-page tiff, and a bunch of single-page tiffs with a page-number appended.

  I want to create a Dashboard on each server to show it's health and the results of some daily processing. I plan to hook up shell scripts and Python programs to collect the data. Instead of writing a web-based interface, I thought it would be good to use a python based web dashboard that could render the results in various business user and manager friendly formats. What are my options to do this? I am primarily interested in Python RedHat Linux, but other platforms are interesting too. I'm also open to Perl and Ruby based solutions especially if the plugins can be language neutral.

• What are some RCP Deployment Options?

  We have an RCP application and we are looking for a better way to do installation/updates. Currently to install, they just unzip a zip file. The zip file also contains scripts in it that are not java code. We were running into some bugs when updating if they don't first delete the old folder that was previous unzipped. The issue with deleting the folder is that the user loses the plugin preferences that were set. The installation would also need to register a COM server. The update would have to update the plugins and also replace the current script folder. What are some of the best options that could be used for installing and updating rcp apps? Thanks!

• jQuery jPicker path issues when used in WordPress Theme Options

  Anyone with experience using jPicker colorpicker in a WordPress Custom Theme options panel. I believe that the default path for the jPicker resources is /jPicker/ relative to the location the js file appears, however, I'm not seeing the picker.gif icon, so I tried changing the path in the js file like so... images:{clientPath:"../wp-content/themes/myTheme/images/" Everything else appears to be working at first load. My bound input field's background color is the same as the currently selected color. However, the picker.gif icon is missing. Where it should appear, I've just got a 2px wide by 20px tall color element (looks like a div perhaps).

  Hello, I have a problem using boost:program_options this simple program, copy-pasted from boosts' documentation : #include <boost/program_options.hpp> int main( int argc, char** argv ) { namespace po = boost::program_options; po::options_description desc("Allowed options"); desc.add_options() ("help", "produce help message") ("compression", po::value<int>(), "set compression level") ; return 0; } fails with a buffer overflow. I have activated the "buffer security switch", and when I run it I get an "unknown exception (0xc0000409)" when I step over the line desc.add_options()... I use Visual Studio 2005 and boost 1.43.0. By the way it does run if I deactivate the switch but I don't feel comfortable doing so... unless it's possible to deactivate it locally. So do you have a solution to this problem? EDIT I found the problem I was linking against libboost_program_options-vc80-mt.lib which wasn't the good library.

• Hiding Options of a Select with JQuery

  Okay, let's start with an example. Keep in mind, this is only an example. <select id = "selection1">     <option value = "1" id = "1">Number 1</option>     <option value = "2" id = "2">Number 2</option>     <option value = "3" id = "3">Number 3</option> </select> Now from here, we have a dropdown with 3 options. What I want to do now is to hide an option. Adding style = "display:none" will not help. The option would not appear in the dropdownlist, but using the arrow keys, you can still select it. Essentially, it does exactly what the code says. It isn't displayed, and it stops there. A JQuery function of $("#1").hide() will not work. Plus, I don't only want to hide the option, I want to completely remove it. Any possibility on doing so? Do I have to use parent/sibling/child elements? If so, I'm still not sure how. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.           Another question - It's related Ok, so I found out that there is a .remove() available in JQuery. Works well.   I have innoDB table using numerous foreign keys, but we just want to look up some basic info out of it. I've done some research but still lost. 1) How can I tell if my host has Sphinx installed already? I don't see it as an option for table storage method (i.e. innodb, myisam). 2) Zend_Search_Lucene, responsive enough for AJAX functionality of millions of records? 3) Mirror my innoDB with a myisam? Make every innodb transaction end with a write to the myisam, then use 1:1 lookups? How would I do this automagically? This should make MyISAM ACID-compliant and free(er) from corruption no? 4) PostgreSQL fulltext queries don't even look like SQL to me wtf, I don't have time to learn a new SQL syntax I need noob options 5) ???????????????????? This is high volume site on a decently-equipped VPS Thanks very much for any ideas.

  I have SQL Server 2008 SP2. I noticed that DBs by default have Properties | Options | Miscellaneous | ANSI Padding Enabled = FALSE. However, this BOL article warns against setting it to off (no reason given). Further, this article states this feature is going to be deprecated. I have two questions: What is the "problem" with having it off for current work (future deprecation aside)? Why is it defaulted to FALSE when BOL says the default is ON, and should this setting therefore be changed?

Now in my web app project, I'd like to be able to get the User Control listed in the right-click menu just like Component and Class, so I don't have to click New Item... then choose it from there.   Hi, all I want to achieve is to implement a servlet providing a json feed for my fullcalendar application. When I inspect http://arshaw.com/js/fullcalendar/examples/json.html with Bugzilla, I see that GET-requests are sent to receive the json feed. However, when I use this example within my scenario, fullcalendar seems to send OPTIONS-requests. The only difference is that I replaced "events: "json-events.php" with "http://localhost:8080/CalendarServletTest/HelloWorldServlet" (the url of my servlet). What do I miss? or is this really a bug?

  I've got a free app I'm planning on submitting to the marketplace. Looking over the submission form I see they expect a web site or email for support. Users?! I've got to worry about users if I submit an app? I suppose I would like to get some abuse from users, but I don't want to go broke doing it. So what are my options?   Hi All, i have a "questionairre" that is made up of a series of select boxes. i need to use two properties in the options. For each selected option i need the value (which i know how to get and is working fine) but i also need to store an additional value which represents the id of the specific option in a DB. One solution would be to put the two values in the "value" property and parse it out.. but if there is some other property i can use that might be easier and clearer.. can i add a custom property?? like databaseId that could be accessed with jQuery? thanks for ANY suggestions.

  I'm looking for the best approach to this problem. In my tableview I have a list of options from which you can select one and only one. The problem is the selection to choose is not obvious without displaying more details on the option. If I use the disclosure indicator or button for the more detail, I lose the checkmark functionality. In searching around I see some have used the cell Image as a work around. I see others instead of using the standard disclosure button have created custom disclosure button looking like a checkmark. Haven't seen this one but is it viable (HIG) to add a button in the cell ('more info') to launch the next tableview. My thought was to use a disclosure indicator and on the second view in the navigation bar (where the edit button usually is) add a 'selectMe' button. I think I am probably manage to code either of the above, am just asking for information on what is the best (HIG) way. Example Option 1 Option 2 Option 3 (x) Option 4 Where x is the checked one But in order to know which is the best choice you need to see Option 3 (Header) Option 3-a Option 3-b Option 3-c Option 3-d Where even at this level option 3-c might have additional information. Any guidance you can provide would appreciated.

• CS Master's Degree Project vs. Thesis options

  I'm doing a master's degree in computer science, and I'm currently at the point where I have to decide between the thesis and non-thesis options offered by my university. The thesis option was my first choice, it entails taking less courses but tends to take more time doing your thesis. The non-thesis option involves taking more coursework, taking a comprehensive exam, and doing a project in one semester with a faculty member. I'd like to pursue a PhD degree eventually (although not right away, I want to get some years of professional experience first), and I heard that having demonstrated the ability to work on a thesis helps a lot with admission (like: not doing thesis raises questions and suggests not being interested in research) and that the experience itself is very good. At the same time, almost everyone I know who did a thesis at my university took a long time (2-3 years), in theory it could be done in 1.5 years. I'm a part time student and I don't really want to spend so much time just getting a master's degree, I could still publish a few papers while working on the project option and I'd be done in a year or so, additionally, I heard having a master's degree with a project and more coursework is more desirable for the industry. So, when applying for a PhD degree in CS at some of the better universities, would the time spent working on the master's thesis help in getting me accepted? Or should I opt for the non-thesis option and hope that the extra coursework and publishing some papers would make up for not working on a thesis?
