• Need help to properly remove duplicates in NHibernate

  Here is the problem I am having. I have a database with over 100 records in it. I am paging through the data to get 9 results at a time. When I added a check to see if items are active, it caused the results to start doubling up. A little background: "Product" is the actual product line "ProductSkus" are the actual products that exist in the product line When there is more then 1 ProductSku within Product, it causes a duplicate entry to be returned. See the NHibernate Query below: result = this.Session.CreateCriteria<Model.Product>() .Add(Expression.Eq("IsActive", true)) .AddOrder(new Order("Name", true)) .SetFirstResult(indexNumber).SetMaxResults(maxNumber) // This part of the query duplicates the products .CreateAlias("ProductSkus", "ProdSkus", JoinType.InnerJoin) .Add(Expression.Eq("ProdSkus.IsActive", true)) .CreateAlias("ProductToSubcategory", "ProdToSubcat") .CreateAlias("ProdToSubcat.ProductSubcategory", "ProdSubcat") .Add(Expression.Eq("ProdSubcat.ID", subCatId)) // This part takes out the duplicate products - Removes too many items... // Turns out that with .SetFirstResult(indexNumber).SetMaxResults(maxNumber) // it gets 9 records back then the duplicates are removed. // Example: // Total Records over 100 // Max = 9 // 4 Duplicates removed // Yields 5 records when there should be 9 // Why??? This line is ran in NHibernate on the data after it has been extracted from the SQL server. .SetResultTransformer(new NHibernate.Transform.DistinctRootEntityResultTransformer()) .List<Model.Product>(); I added the DistinctRootEntityResultTransformer to clean up the duplicates. The problem is that it pulls 9 records back that contains duplicates. DistinctRootEntityResultTransformer then cleans up the duplicates in the 9 records. I am basically needing a distinct statement to be ran on the SQL server to begin with. However, distinct on SQL is not going to work since NHibernate by default wants to add every field from every table in the select part of the statement. I am only using the fields that belong to the root table to begin with (Model.Product). If I can tell NHibernate to not add the fields to the joined tables into the select part of the statement along with adding Distinct, it would work. • Normalizing a table

  I have a legacy table, which I can't change. The values in it can be modified from legacy application (application also can't be changed). Due to a lot of access to the table from new application (new requirement), I'd like to create a temporary table, which would hopefully speed up the queries. The actual requirement, is to calculate number of business days from X to Y. For example, give me all business days from Jan 1'st 2001 until Dec 24'th 2004. The table is used to mark which days are off, as different companies may have different days off - it isn't just Saturday + Sunday) The temporary table would be created from a .NET program, each time user enters the screen for this query (user may run query multiple times, with different values, table is created once), so I'd like it to be as fast as possible. Approach below runs in under a second, but I only tested it with a small dataset, and still it takes probably close to half a second, which isn't great for UI - even though it's just the overhead for first query. It runs pretty fast, but I'm hesitant to call a function, if I can instead add a simpler query to get result. (I'm currently trying this on MSSQL, but I would need to do same for Sybase ASE and Oracle)

It's coded in MPEG4 so there should be no problem, but it's not working anymore (it worked with another camera a few weeks ago). Any idea what I might try ? I don't know what's wrong here. • Need explanation for this boost::asio timer example

  There is a line in the 3rd tutorial on Boost asio that shows how to renew a timer and yet prevent there from being drift. The line is the following: t->expires_at(t->expires_at() + boost::posix_time::seconds(1)); Maybe it's me but I wasn't able to find documentation on the 2nd usage of expires_at(), with no parameters. expires_at(x) sets the new expiration, cancelling any pending completion handlers. So presumably expires_at() does what, return time of the last expiry? So by adding one second, if there should be some number of ms, say n ms, then it will in essence be "subtracted" from the next expiry since the time is being accounted for? What happens then if the time it takes to perform this handler is greater than 1 second in this example? Does it fire immediately?

  How do I create reusable custom new item form + preferrably, i don't want to tie this form to content type? I want to force render one hidden field (it could be render on the page, but make invisible or render on the page and display) and set field value programmatically (that's why it has to be rendered - to set it's value). Google has tons of information on how to create custom list form with sharepoint designer, but in my case, i don't want sharepoint designer for the advantages you see below. What i'm trying to achieve I want to be able to have a custom newform to create item (i don't want it to be as default). To open this newForm i would use CustomAction in item's ECB menu. In this form, i want to force render one hidden field and set it's value programmatically. • Launch market place with id of an application that doesn't exist in the android market place

  Hi, I am creating an application that checks the installation of a package and then launches the market-place with its id. When I try to launch market place with id of an application say com.mybrowser.android by throwing an intent android.intent.action.VIEW with url: market://details?id=com.mybrowser.android, the market place application does launches but crashes after launch. Note: the application com.mybrowser.android doesn't exists in the market-place. • Downloading file from server (asp.net) to IE8 Content-Disposition problem with file name

  I am downloading a file from the server/database via aspx page. When using the content-disposition inline the document opens in correct application but the file name is the same as the web page. I want the document to open in say MS Word but with the correct file name. • OutOfMemoryException with Image.Clone - Only on Windows 2003

  So here's my issue. I have an image that I need to shrink. The original image is a grayscale PNG, which isn't a huge issues except that when I shrink it down, the thermal label printers pickup the artifacts and print them on the label. This code works fine on my Windows 7 machine, but when I run it on the Windows 2003 Server box that it calls home, it always throws an OutOfMemoryException when it hits the bmp.Clone line. Any ideas as to what's happening, or perhaps a better solution to converting the image to B&W?

• How do I sign exes and dlls with my code signing certificate

  (I purchased a code signing cert from Thawte and have been going out of my mind with frustration at the whole process. What I have from them are: .spc / .p7b file .pvk file (NOTE I do not have a pfx file from them. God knows why, but I have been fighting with their tech support for a week) In any case I find "help" links on their site and at MS for signcode.exe which is useless for me because I can't find that exe on my machine, however I do have signtool.exe. Unfortunately i am mystified at the command line parameters listed on this MS help site. Specifically, what parameters do I use and what values? I tried what I thought was obvious but it does not work at all. I can get the signing wizard to work, however I need this to work non-interactively in a hudson CI batch file. It really doesn't seem like it should be this difficult, but so far it is all black magic. thanks for any help

  MS SQL Server's Money Data Type seems to accept a well formatted currency value with no problem (example: $52,334.50) From my research MS SQL Sever just ignores the "$" and "," characters. ASP .NET has a parameter object that has a Type/DbType property and Currency is an available option to set as a value. However, when I set the parameter Type or DbType to currency it will not accept a value like $52,334.50. I receive an error "Input string was not in a correct format." when I try to Update/Insert. If I don't include the "$" or "," characters it seems to work fine. Also, if I don't specify the Type or DbType for the parameter it seems to work fine also. Is this just standard behavior that the parameter object with its Type set to currency will still reject "$" and "," characters in ASP .NET?   We are trying to generate MS Excel workbook using OOXML and populate data using SSIS. We are able to generate Workbook and sheets, also able to create columns and insert data in Header cell. We can also populate data using SSIS. But the Sheet (DocumentFormat.OpenXml.Spreadsheet.Sheet) and all cells (DocumentFormat.OpenXml.Spreadsheet.Cell) becomes OpenXmlUnknownElement. So we are not able to read sheet / cell using following Code. Sheet sheet = workbookPart.Workbook.Descendants().Where(s = s.Name == "Sheet1").SingleOrDefault(); We are able to read the same file if we first open it using MS Excel and save.

• .Net MEF newbie question

  I am missing something basic when it comes to using MEF. I got it working using samples and a simple console app where everything is in the same assembly. Then I put some imports and exports in a separate project which contains various entities. I want to use these entities in an MS Test, but the composition is never actually done. When I move the composition stuff into the constructor of an entity in question it works, but that's obviously wrong. Does GetExecutingAssembly only "see" the test process? What am I missing re containers? I tried putting the container in a Using in the test without luck. The MEF docs are still very scant and I can't find a simple example of an application (or MS Test) which uses entities from a different project...

  I would like to have users authenticate against an ActiveDirectory LDAP server using the DOMAIN\user.name syntax. I think that should be possible with SpringSec 3.0 since the docs mention an "alternative syntax" which I guess refers to the DOM\user syntax instead of a bind DN, but the docs don't elaborate further. Is there some way to configure Spring Sec 3 LDAP to use "the MS way" or do I have to write my own Authenticator implementation (against e.g. the java.naming.directory package, which I've tested to be able to use the MS syntax as its SECURITY_PRINCIPAL)?

• OpenCV 2.0 and Python

  I cannot get the example Python programs to run. When executing the Python command "from opencv import cv" I get the message "ImportError: No module named _cv". There is a stale _cv.pyd in the site-packages directory, but no _cv.py anywhere. See step 5 below. MS Windows XP, VC++ 2008, Python 2.6, OpenCV 2.0 Here's what I have done. Downloaded and ran the MS Windows installer for OpenCV2.0. Downloaded and installed CMake Downloaded and installed SWIG Ran CMake. After unchecking "ENABLE_OPENMP" in the CMake GUI, I was able to build OpenCV using INSTALL.vcproj and BUILD_ALL.vcproj. I do not know what the difference is, so I built everything under both of those project files. The C example programs run fine. Copied contents of OpenCV2.0/Python2.6/lib/site-packages to my installed Python2.6/lib/site-packages directory. I notice that it contains an old _cv.pyd and an old libcv.dll.a.

  what is the easiest(and fastest) way to perform this kind of transformation: "Data in XML" to "Some MS Word 2003 Supported format" to PDF using Java? My first guess was to fill the template with XML data (using Placeholders for example) and then save it and convert it to PDF. But I can't just put placeholders to DOC files, and I can't convert from some other Word formats to PDF... My primary task is to convert XML Data to PDF allowing users to change the PDF on-demand. The best way to change the PDF on-demand seems to give user some kind of MS Word readable document, and then convert it back. There are 2 main problems with this task: 1) I can't use OpenOffice for conversion. 2) System should be able to convert ~1 page of table-based document per 1 second on 2Ghz Core. 3) RTF does not provide enough styling, so some more complex format should be used. I've seem bits of evidence that MS has created some sort of trick for shadowing HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT from HKCU. Is this, in fact, possible? If so, can this be installed as a non-privileged MSI, or does it have to be arranged otherwise? And, finally, what's the minimum version of Windows required?

I'm creating a new instance of WebBrowser for each screenshot and am disposing of it properly with the "using" block, any idea why it's behaving this way? Thanks, Justin

  This is a follow-up to this question: How to load XML into a DataTable? I want to read an XML file on the internet into a DataTable. I'm struggling with how to use the default proxy set in Internet Explorer. I don't want to hard-code the proxy. I also want the code to work if no proxy is specified in Internet Explorer.

• PowerPoint version compilation

  Let's say I am using SharpDevelop/VS to develop an app that uses PowerPoint. Do I need to recompile the app so there is a build for each version of MS Office? I have MS Office 2007, but I would also like the app to work with Office 2003 and later, without having to recompile the app for each version. Do I just need to install the appropriate Office Interop redistributable package/msi on the client machine, and ship my app as is? Thanks in advance for your help.
