• Load SWF data without loading sound, then load sound later

  So, hypothetical situation here: I have an SWF that's 30MB. Sound files (music) make up 25MB, art and other things make up the remaining 5MB. Would it be possible for me to load the 5MB of necessary art and other things first to allow the user to operate the app, then after that's all loaded and they are operating the app, load the remaining 25MB of sound files in the background? UPDATE: Loading SWF externally is not an option.

  My iPhone app allows for users to type in their usernames and passwords so that they can login. When they login once, their usernames and passwords are saved so that users don't have to type it in again. My problem is, when the app starts again, it immediately starts logging them in, leaving the interface completely black. How would I go about calling my login method AFTER all the UI methods are loaded?

• Best way to tackle global hotkey processing in c#?

  Hi all I'd like to have multiple global hotkeys in my new app (to control the app from anywhere in windows), and all of the given sources/solutions I found on the web seem to provide with a sort of a limping solution (either solutions only for one g.hotkey, or solutions that while running create annoying mouse delays on the screen).   I'm researching remote control testing for an app that'll be installed on the new iPod Touch and can't tell for certain from everything that I've read whether or not an installed app can or can't open any ports for remote test instructions (that's a mouthful : ) We created something like this for the Android using adb port forwarding and telnet, and it worked really well. Is there any chance something similar could be done on an iPhone or iPod without jailbreaking??

• Android browse SQLite database on phone

  How can I browse the SQLite database that I am creating in my app on my Android myTouch phone? When I log in through adb shell, sqlite3 gives me a permission denied. Is there another way to check if my database and tables are actually being created, and if rows are being inserted? I am not able to use the emulator, since it doesn't play videos etc. very well that is the main feature of my app, so I can only test on phone. Thanks Chris

From my reading I understand that it gets called when deploying the application. Can there be situations/scenario's where it could be called after the application has been deployed?   After my application sits idle overnight, when I try to access it in the morning I get a 500 Internal server error and the logs indicate "PGError: no connection to the server".   I have a Ruby on Rails app that needs process many background jobs simultaneously: anywhere from 5-6 at a time to up to 50-60 at a time depending on the time of day. Right now my app is running on Heroku, which charges $.05/hour per worker, regardless of how much CPU or memory the worker is using. This is costing me a boatload each month... up to $1200/mo. I can force my app to go to landscape mode for a view (using navigationcontroller and viewcontroller) like this: - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [[UIDevice currentDevice] setOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight]; } But then when I go back to the main menu (tableview) it goes straight back to portrait.   Hey guys. I am writing an App using JTwitter however I need to authenticate in order to not have the 150 requests per minute on the public api. Jtwitter seems to support OAuth however I have some questions. My app will be running behind a company firewall - so the URL wont be accessible outside of the company's network - will callback authorisation work, and does anybody have an example of using callback authorisation using OAuth in JTwitter - because I cannot work it out in order to try it.
