    How is it possible to change the displayed order of columns from a DataTable? For example, dataTable "dt" contains two columns "a" and "b". I bind it to a GridView like this: gridView.DataSource = dt; gridView.DataBind(); But I'd like the GridView to display "b" first (leftmost). Important point: I'm using this to export to Excel and there's no actual output to screen, using: HtmlTextWriter htw = new HtmlTextWriter(sw); gridView.RenderControl(htw); Thanks!

    Sorry about the strange title. I really have no idea how to express it any better... I get an error on the following snippet. I use the class Dummy everywhere. Doesn't the compiler understand the constraint I've added on DummyImplBase? Is this a compiler bug as it works if I use Dummy directly instead of setting it as a constraint?     Some people have argued that the C# 4.0 feature introduced with the dynamic keyword is the same as the "everything is an Object" feature of VB. However, any call on a dynamic variable will be translated into a delegate once and from then on, the delegate will be called. In VB, when using Object, no caching is applied and each call on a non-typed method involves a whole lot of under-the-hood reflection, sometimes totaling a whopping 400-fold performance penalty. Have the dynamic type delegate-optimization and caching also been added to the VB untyped method calls, or is VB's untyped Object still so slow?

    Hi, Is there a possibility to block chance to add the same data to SPList? I know that two records always are different regarding the ID field. I would like to validate other custom fields added previously by me, and don't allow of adding same field's value. Can anybody tell me how to implement this? I can guess that event receivers could be the answer but I couldn't find how to add a receiver to SPList.     hey people hope all is well.. i am trying to create a form in VS using ASP that when upon submitting a form the details will get automatically stored in an xml file which can be accessed later on a chosen file save path i have 2 files ... "Contact.aspx" and "Contact.aspx.vb" i have created the form in the "Contact.aspx" and when trying to enter the fields in the "contact.aspx.vb" i keep getting several errors such as for example... Error 5 'Formatting' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.XmlBuilder' Error 6 'WriteStartDocument' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.XmlBuilder'. Error 7 'WriteComment' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.XmlBuilder'. Error 8 'WriteStartElement' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.XmlBuilder'. Error 10 'WriteAttributeString' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.XmlBuilder'. there is like 30 errors in total... im literally stuck out my head been trying for 2 days now and can't grasp what im doing wrong ive tried even some of the tutorials online but loads of errors... hope some1 can fix this thank you

  • Cannot open a SQL2000 DTS package I imported into SQL2008

    I am running into a problem trying to open a SQL2000 DTS package I imported into SQL2008. I set up a new server and installed a fresh install of SQL2008. The database I need to run is a SQL2000 database. I moved the database over with no problem but there are a few DTS packages that need to run in legacy on SQL2008. I exported the DTS packages I need out of SQL2000 and imported them successfully into SQL2008. My SQL2008 server is x64. I can see the DTS packages under Data Transformation Service in Legacy but when I try to open the package I get this message. "SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer components are required to edit DTS packages. Install the special web download, "SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer components" to use this feature. (Microsoft.SqlServer.DtsObjectExplorerUI)" I downloaded the components and installed them and still get this error. I researched and found an article about this not working on x64 so I have an x86 machine that I installed the SQL2008 tools and tried to open the package from there and got the same error. I have spent days on this and need help. Has anyone run across this and can tell me what to do. If you have solved this problem, please help me out. Thanks.

    I want to use an Enum value for the types of VaryByCustom parameters I will support, is it possible to do this? I tried setting it in the page itself <%@ OutputCache Duration="600" VaryByParam="none" VaryByCustom='<%=VaryByCustomType.IsAuthenticated.ToString(); %>' %> But this returned the entire literal string "<%=VaryByCustomType.IsAuthenticated.ToString(); %>" inside my global.asax is there any way to do this either on the page itself or from the codebehind? Or is this just something I have to accept is purely magic strings and nothing I can do to add type safety to it?

    The code I'm writing receives an ArrayList from unmanaged code, and this ArrayList will always contain one or more objects of type Grid_Heading_Blk. I've considered changing this ArrayList to a generic List, but I'm unsure if the conversion operation will be so expensive as to nullify the benefits of working with the generic list. Currently, I'm just running a foreach (Grid_Heading_Blk in myArrayList) operation to work with the ArrayList contents after passing the ArrayList to the class that will use it. Should I convert the ArrayList to a generic typed list? And if so, what is the most efficient way of doing so?

    I have a list of integers that I would like to search for a sequence. For example, if i have a master list: 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 2, 39, 482, 19283, 19, 23, 1, 29 And I want to find sequence: 1, 2, 3, 4 I would like some easy way to fill a subset list with: 1, 2, 3, 4 + the next five integers in the master list And then remove the integers in the subset list from the master list so at the end of the operation, my lists would look like this: Master list: 19, 23, 1, 29 Subset list: 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 2, 39, 482, 19283 Hope that makes sense. I'm guessing maybe linq would be good for something like this, but I've never used it before. Can anyone help?
