  • Suppressing .net's updatepanel submit event handler

    I'm performing some custom js validation on my forms, triggered by submitting the form $("form").submit(function (e) { var validates = true; // validation code goes in here if (!validates) { e.preventDefault(); e.stopImmediatePropagation(); return false; } }) None of the lines I've included to stop the submit event prevent the .NET control posting back. Is there some way (using js or setting a property in the updatepanel control) of stopping post back?

    If I want to update two rows in a MySQL table, using the following two command: UPDATE table SET Col = Value1 WHERE ID = ID1 UPDATE table SET Col = Value2 WHERE ID = ID2` I usually combine them into one command, so that I do not to have to contact the MySQL server twice from my C client: UPDATE table SET Col = IF( ID = ID1 , Value1 , Value2) WHERE ID=ID1 OR ID=ID2 Is this really a performance gain? Background Information: I am using a custom made fully C written high-performance heavily loaded webserver.

    I have UIScrollView with number of subviews. Each subview is custom UIButton with UIImage. When I load more and more subviews, more and more memory is used. But I remove invisible subviews by removeFromSuperView method. Subviews are removed and stay invisible, but Im afraid that no memory is released. UIImage is image downloaded from internet.     My monitor (a Planar, apparently model number PL1910M) is not working. (It is flashing a green / orange sequence which I believe to be an error code. The sequence, in case it helps consists of orange and green three times quickly followed by a longer orange, then another green followed by a long period where both colors appear to be present). I vaguely recall a co-worker suffering from a similar problem, and our IT department "resetting" the monitor by holding down a certain set of keys as they apply power. Unfortunately, I do not remember what that key sequence was, our IT department is not responding, and the Planar web site is blocked by the content filtering firewall we have in place! What is the sequence to perform the reset? (For bonus geek-credit, what does the code mean... as if it indicates a blown component clearly a reset will not help me. ;-))

How I tell hudson that there is this dependency?     I'm trying to run an SSH server on Windows Xp Embedded. I've tried all open-source/freeware flavours so far that I know (openSSH for Windows, CopSSH, FreeSSHD, MobaSSH. All of them tell me they are installed succesfully, but the SSH service never starts, it always tells the service terminated unexpectedly. No ssh server logs are being created either. Anyone who got the same or knows the reason behind it? It's probably a component that's missing in the XPe Installation, but it's hard to find out which one without more detailed error messages.

    I'm writing a custom TreeView from ScrollableControl. I decided to show tooltips when mouse is hover nodes with text too long to display. I find out when tooltips are shown, user would not be able to click the node to select it, because (I think) he's clicking the tooltip window, not my control. Is there any easy solutions? As I can see System.Windows.Forms.TreeView don't have this problem. Thanks!

    I'm getting an error in the Event Viewer, which is also generating a lot of Logon Failure messages on our syslog server. Pretty much stuck on how to resolve. EventID: 536 Logon Type: 3 Reason: The NetLogon component is not active This is for a Windows Server 2003 system. I have checked here We're using Shavlik Protect 9 to scan and deploy patches. Shavlik stores the credentials for the systems and uses those stored credentials to deploy patches. This system is able to scan and deploy to other systems on the network using those credentials and no errors are generated. When installing to the local system that Shavlik is physically on then this error is generated. Whats interesting is that it doesn't generate during a scan, and the patches install fine. We've contacted Shavlik to get the response that they are unable to help since it's a Microsoft error. Has anyone seen this?
