  I am trying to create a DataTable with a multi row header. The years headers can be fixed as I don't want to do sorting by that. Is there a way to do that in Google Visualizations? • How to make a resolution independent camera preview on android?

  Hi all, I'm making an android 1.6 app that uses phone's camera. In order to do this app resolution independent, I need to set a compatible aspect ratio for previewing camera on a SurfaceLayout. In 1.6 sdk there is no way to get supported sizes for the camera preview. It is possible to use a 4:3 or 3:2 aspect ratio and get no errors whith that? On the other hand, I need a way to make a xml layout that represents this Surfacelayout in this (unknown) aspect ratio in every resolution. I assume that is not possible to change the SurfaceLayout size in runtime. Can I do it with "dp" units? The other way is making this layout programmatically? There are some apps like Vignette or android camera application with some tricks to make something like that, like black bars (vignette) or fixed buttons bar, but I don't know how to do it in any kind of resolution. Any ideas? Thanks!

  I got a class like this which gets returned from an ASP webservice: class Data { public int A { get; set; } public int B { get; set; } public int Sum { get { return A + B; } } } When I try to consume the webservice on the client side using Silverlight I only get the properties A and B but I also need Sum. I know I can't return any logic from a webservice, so the expected behavior was it will return the the Sum as a fixed/precalculated property in the client which is what I need. Any ideas except for redesigning my class? Thanks ...

• Fastmm4 and leaking handles...

  Hi to all, I have just used FastMM4 to detect leaks. I did not realise our application was using a DLL which was leaking event handles and so I fixed any leaks reported by FastMM4 but not the handles as it was not reported. My questions are, would have FastMM4 have reported the leaking event handles? Would this require me to rebuild the dlls with FastMM4 included? I also heard someone mention ShareMM, do I need to add that? I am using Delphi2007, which I think is using the borland memory manager and if so, should I replace it with the fastMM4 one? What are the steps to do that? Sorry for asking so many questions, I am looking at delphi after a few years of doing .net development. JD.

  I'm having a little test program that sends a lot of udp packets between client-server-client (ping/pong test). The packets are fixed size on each run(last run is max allowable size of udp packet) I'm filling the packets with random data except for the beginning of each packet that contains the packet number. So I'm only interested to see if I receive all the packets back at the client. I'm using sendto() and recvfrom() and I only read the sizeof(packet_number) (which in this case is an int). What happens to the rest of the data? Does it end up in fairyland (gets discarded)? or does the new packet that arrives gets appended to this "old" data? (using linux)

• WCF Diagnostics tracing and WAS hosting?

  I have a WAS hosted set of services configured to use net.tcp running under an IIS AppPool user account. When hosting the services with WAS I have a hard time getting any diagnostic tracing out of them to track down problems. The same services with tracing set to use i.e. c:\logs\trace.svclog as trace output works fine when using self-hosting in a console application. I don't seem to get any trace output at all when hosting with WAS, are there any special settings I need to get trace output under WAS? I have set a fixed output path for tracing and assigned permissions to the folder for the IIS AppPool\MyAppPool-user. /Per Salmi

  My webpage has a large image (a map). I want to position, at the top right of the image, a small icon that is for closing the map. How can I figure out the position and place the image appropriately? The image has a fixed width of 900 x 600. I have jquery on the page if that helps. I tried using $("#map").position and I have the top and left, but not sure how to position to the top right.

• Why the toolbar button icon is grey at runtime?

  I"m setting the icon of a toolbar button (using Infragistics component library for the toolbar), The problem is that on design time the icon is showing normally. But at runtime the icon become greyed, though the drawing of the icon is still apparent, but its colors are all lost and the shape of the icon image is grey. So i'm wondering if it's colour related bug, or I need to tweek something in VS, or it is a bug in the library i'm using i.e. Infragistics. So anyone faced that problem before and fixed it?

The problem is that when label resizes, it resizes QVBoxLayout, and it resizes other neighboring widgets. I don't want to make a label or layout fixed width. Because I want them to resize with a whole window. Is it possible to tell label to take all the place that it has in layout, but not more?

  I am writing a test to verify something. This is not production code, just verification code. So I would appreciate it if the specific question was answered. I have code that uses indices and vertices to draw a set of triangles in the shape of a grid. All the vertices are drawn using glDrawElements(). Now for each vertex I will set its corresponding Texture Coordinates to 0 or 1 for each set of triangles that form a square in the grid. Basically I want to draw a collage of random textures in each one of the "squares" (consisting of two triangles). I can do this using the glBegin() and glEnd() method calls inside a for loop using the fixed functional pipeline, but I would like to know how to do this using Vertex Arrays.

  Is there a way to show subnode if the parent node is hidden in the Virtual String Tree ? I have some tasks in the tree structure and I wish to display only tasks which belongs to the current user as the list, but from all levels. What I've done is the function to display a list, which hides tree buttons, tree lines, sets the fixed indent and enable toShowHiddenNodes option. Then in this function I iterate through the whole tree (all levels) and hide nodes which doesn't belong to the current user IsVisible[Node] := False and show those which belongs him IsVisible[Node] := True, but the subnodes which should be displayed are invisible when their parent is hidden.   I have a modal UI in my web app that necessitates a fixed layout design. After much fussing, I decided absolutely positioned child elements was the way to go. However, I have one div that conditionally requires a vertical scrollbar (if there's too much content). When this scrollbar is added, the width of the div seems to vary between IE 7 and IE 8. IE8 standards mode: IE7 standards mode: I haven't even tested for IE 6, but I'm sure it's even funkier. What's the simplest, least painful way to address this to arrive at a consistent UI in all major browsers?

• xcode storyboard reverting in compile

  I started having some very odd behaviour in Xcode 4.5 recently. I made a change to a UITableViewController with static cells but the changes did not appear in the simulator and neither did my code changes. I removed the app from the simulator and ran clean on the project, then started again and all the changes appeared. I made another code change, ran the debugger via simulator and once again I saw my old UITableViewController values and my code changes were absent. This project is using storyboards, but I am not sure if this problem is related to just storyboards given my code changes are reverted as well. I am deeply confused here. Not even clean fixed this issue. Any thoughts or suggestions?

• Using adaptive step sizes with scipy.integrate.ode

  The (brief) documentation for scipy.integrate.ode says that two methods (dopri5 and dop853) have stepsize control and dense output. Looking at the examples and the code itself, I can only see a very simple way to get output from an integrator. Namely, it looks like you just step the integrator forward by some fixed dt, get the function value(s) at that time, and repeat. My problem has pretty variable timescales, so I'd like to just get the values at whatever time steps it needs to evaluate to achieve the required tolerances. That is, early on, things are changing slowly, so the output time steps can be big. But as things get interesting, the output time steps have to be smaller. I don't actually want dense output at equal intervals, I just want the time steps the adaptive function uses.

So, I'm trying to do a sliding navigation UI from the left side of the screen (like a lot of mobile apps). The main content slides over, displaying the navigation menu beneath. Right now the browser thinks the screen is getting wider and introduces a horizontal scroll bar. However, I don't want that to happen...   Hi, I have a data grid, in each row I have one cell which needs to have a very lengthy text which is about 1000 characters long. So I decided to put the text in the expander control keeping the cell width fixed, when the user wants to read the text, he clicks on the expander to open and reads it. The row height automatically grows when the expander is expanded but when the expander is collapsed back, the row height doesnt shirk. • In Drupal, can you control block display according to e.g. number of URL parts?

  I'm having a little trouble controlling page-specific block display in Drupal... My URL's will be of this typical structure: http://www.mysite.co.uk/section-name/sub-page/sub-sub-page The 'section-name' will effectively be fixed, but there will be many sub-pages (far too many to explicitly reference). I need to somehow control block display as follows: One block will show on all pages where URL contains 'section-name/sub-page' but not on pages 'section-name/sub-page/sub-sub-page' Conversely, another block will show on all pages where URL contains 'section-name/sub-page/sub-sub-page' but not on pages 'section-name/sub-page' My only idea is to do a bit of PHP that looks for the string 'section-name' and then also counts URL parts (or even the number of slashes). Not sure how to implement that though :) Your help would be appreciated!

  I'm trying to compile a program in C on OS X 10.9 with GCC 4.9 (experimental). For some reason, I'm getting the following error at compile time: gcc: fatal error: stdio.h: No such file or directory I then tried a simple Hello World program: #include <stdio.h> int main(int *argc, const char *argv[]) { printf("Hello, world!"); return 0; } Again, upon running gcc -o ~/hello ~/hello.c, I got the same error. I'm using an experimental version of gcc, but it seems implausible that there would be a release which generated errors upon importing stdio. What could be causing this issue, and how can it be fixed?

• Assembly Resolver ignores PrivateBinPath

  I have an assembly I would like to load from a sub-folder of the appbase. I set that sub-folder in the PrivateBinPath during AppDomain creation. The issue is that I have another version of the same DLL in the appbase. From the way it looks, the resolver detects the wrong version first, says that there is a mismatch and stops. As a result the correct version (located in the sub-folder) never gets loaded. I have tested this by removing those DLLs in the appbase and it fixed the problem. Is there any way to force the search even if the wrong version is found?

• [jQuery] Any HTML tags inside of tooltip cause basic tooltip to close on hover.

  Hi. I'm new to jQuery, in fact any kind of AJAX / JavsScript (although not new to PHP, xHTML and CSS). Anyway I'm trying to achieve a "tooltip-like" effect, where I can hover over a div...the new div fades in above it and then when I exit the div the "tooltip" fades out. So here's the basic jQuery I've managed to scrap together reading the odd guide here and there: $(function() { $('#sn-not-logged-in').hover(function() { $('#sn-not-logged-in-hover').fadeIn('medium'); }); $('#sn-not-logged-in-hover').mouseout(function() { $('#sn-not-logged-in-hover').fadeOut('medium'); }); }); Problem is if I put "any" html tag inside the div that hovers in, the second you roll over it the div fades back out. • How to tell my asp.net page to use .net 3.5?

  My company recently upgraded from IE 6 to IE 8. My site does not render properly. I wanted to make sure my .net version was fixed before I started to try to fix a problem. I think my web.config file says i'm using 3.5, but if I get an error when running the app I get this: Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.3603; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.3082 Why does it say 2.0? rather than 3.5? How do i change this? (using visual studio 2008, running the site locally) Thanks in advance!
