    I am interested in using a text expansion application, such as Texter or Phase Express. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best text expansion application to use? I work on a number of Windows PCs (XP, Vista, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008); the application would need to work on all of these OS flavours. I am particularly interested in an application that is available for all of my programs, and that isn't program specific.

  • How do I access admin shares on windows 2008 r2?

    I am not able to access admin file shares on a Windows 2008 R2 box, if I'm logged in as a user who is part of the Administrators group. The only way I can access those shares is if I use the built in Administrator account. How can I configure the server to allow any administrator to access the file system via admin shares? Btw, this works with Windows 2003. By admin shares, I refer to: \192.168.1.4\c$ or \192.168.1.4\e$

  • LPR on Windows: Can you specify # of copies?

    In Linux, you can use lpr -#5 foo.txt to get 5 copies of a document when sending to an LPD-based print server. The Windows (XP, 2003, 2008) version of LPR supplied by MS doesn't seem to have this option, though. Does anyone know if there's a hidden option to specify the number of copies? Thanks.

    Previously I was working with Server 2003 and managed to lock myself out of the server (I was accessing it remotely) by enabling the firewall. I want to remotely enable the firewall on Server 2008 without locking myself out of the server (access via RDP) and then selectively add IP addresses to the firewall to exclude. i.e. block specific IP addresses. Are there any step by step instructions on how to safely do this?

  • How do I make a LDAP query-based dynamic distribution group in Exchange 2010

    I see that there were ways in Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007 to just put in an LDAP query and it would populate the group for you. Is there any way to do that in Exchange 2010? I know there's dynamic distribution groups but I don't want to create the group based on one of their pre-set queries and I don't want to mess around with "custom attributes". I just want to put an LDAP query in there and make it run it to populate the distribution group.

I have a web ready website that that targets .NET 4.0 and have updated the default website home directory to map to the website's directory. When I visit the website in a web browser (localhost, localhost:80), I get a 404 error (File or directory not found).     Although iTunes produces a very good comprehensive listing of all music which can be copied and pasted into excel to give a database of music, unfortunately it does not include"where" information as shown on the "Get Info" summary. As, in my own case, music files are in a number of different locations(drives and folders) I would like to be able to identify, quickly and simply,duplicate tracks as the last column in the excel listing. Is there a way to do this?

    We have a database file (foxpro) on a Windows share (2003 server). We're having some problems where the program that writes to this file has to retry as the file is locked. This all happens very quickly and within a few seconds the file is available, but the problem is it shouldn't be locked. Does anyone know how we can view what's locking it? Any tools available?

Now, after our move to a new Exchange server, I now have a "Junk Email" folder and the existing "Junk Email1" folder. Is there a way to change the default Outlook Junk Email folder back to "Junk Email"?

He'd really like to be able to repartition his harddrive without formatting it. In the past Partition Magic would have leapt to mind, but apparently Symantec bought that in 2003 and never updated it (and then officially discontinued it).
