  • What is the best way to handle multiple actions?

    Like most web applications you have a method that gets called when you log in. There are a few things that may need to get done when logged in and over time this may increase. eg. logging, welcome emails, maintenance. Should events be used to do this or is there a better way??     For the life of me I cannot deserialize the protobuf file from Open Street Maps. I am trying to deserialize the following extract: http://download.geofabrik.de/osm/north-america/us-northeast.osm.pbf to get Nodes and I am using http://code.google.com/p/protobuf-net/ as the library. I have tried to deserialize a bunch of different objects but they all come up null. The proto files can be found here: http://trac.openstreetmap.org/browser/applications/utils/export/osm2pgsql/protobuf Any suggestions?

    Hi, I have a list of rows in an excel sheet which I need to load as historical transactions into a table in my rails applications. I saved the excel file as a csv file. I tried using csv from the standard library but keep getting the following exception CSV::IllegalFormatError. Not sure how to even figure out where the problem lies.     HI all, I'm just getting started with developing for Android. I'm looking to port one of my iPhone applications, but I'm kind of at a loss for how to draw a view at runtime (a view not declared in the XML). Basically, I want to draw a simple rectangle, but then be able to manipulate its frame after being drawn. Sorry if this is a really, really simple question, but I can't seem to find some equivalent to the iPhone SDK here. Thanks in advance!

The google market insists that the different versions must have different package names. So far i have been refactoring the package with 2 different names and changing the R resource file import each time i build the different versions. The code is 99% the same for both versions.Is there a better way?

    Hi, in one of our applications we're using alocal RDLC-report (displaying using a ReportViewer control) to print some tables and text entered by the user. We'd like to give the user the ability of formatting the text. I thought I might use the respective WPF controls (embedded into the Windows Forms application) to make things easy.     Is there a way to allow an HTML file to open an application on the local computer and send that application arguments? We have an application that allows a user to set a link to an external application. We also provide a summary page in HTML (they usually interact with the application from outside the browser) with the link in HTML as well. We can get applications to launch if the program exists, but cant seem to send arguments through the HTML link. Is this even possible?
