  Hi, I am working on a project which needs to extract text form a predefined div tag. My requirement is to send the content in the target div in a email body. I have to use javascript or php for this task. The Process : When a given link will be clicked; a javascript function will trigger and read that target div. The content of the div will be then submitted to server in dynamic form. What options I have to get this task done? Thanks.

  OK first off thanks for your time I wish I could give more than one point for this question. Problem: I have some music files on my site (.mp3) and I am using a php file to increment a database to count the number of downloads and to point to the file to download. For some reason this method starts at 350kb/s then slowly drops to 5kb/s which then the file says it will take 11hrs to complete. BUT if I go directly to the .mp3 file my browser brings up a player and then I can right click and "save as" which works fine complete download in 3mins. (Yes both during the same time for those that are thinking it's my connection or ISP and its not my server either.) So the only thing that I've been playing around with recently is the php.ini and the .htcaccess files. • XSLT 1.0: Sorting by concating portions of date string

  I'm trying to take XML data and sort elements by their data attribute. Unfortunately the dates come over in mm/dd/yyyy format and are not static lengths. (Jan = 1 instead of 01) So I believe the string will have to be parsed into three components and the month padded. The newly concated value (yyyymmdd) then sorted descending. Problem is I have no idea how to do this.   Hi, I'm editing a vb.net app for a mate and part of the requirements are to copy merge fields from one word document to another. I can copy them across using document.content.text but they come out as text (should've figured this i guess). I think i've got them selected by: Dim tDocFields As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.Fields tDocFields = tDocument.Content.Fields I'm then activating the doc i want to copy into and i think i need to then copy into that doc using the related word app. vDocument.Activate() vWord.Selection. ??? Insert() ??? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated... Am i on the right lines even?

• How can I use smbclient to connect to Windows shares by hostname when a firewall is enabled?

  I can't connect to file shares on Windows computers using smbclient -L //hostname when the firewall is enabled. This occurs whether I'm using ufw (which allows outgoing traffic and replies back in with the default configuration) or iptables (where I'm allowing outgoing traffic and replies back in with iptables -A INPUT -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT). However, smbclient -L //ip-address works whether the firewall is enabled or not. I also tested this against a Samba server running on Ubuntu and again smbclient -L //hostname does not work when the firewall is enabled, but smbclient -L //ip-address works whether the firewall is enabled or not. For reference, here are the iptables rules I used during testing: *filter :INPUT DROP [0:0] :FORWARD ACCEPT [0:0] :OUTPUT ACCEPT [0:0] -A INPUT -m state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -p icmp -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -d 224.0.0.251/32 -p udp -m udp --dport 5353 -j ACCEPT COMMIT

• ModalPopupExtender doesn't work on IE6 frame layout

  I'm using a "frame" layout similar to the one in this excellent answer: a div #top at the top of the page, a div#left on the left, and a div #main with the main content. The #top and #left divs contain navigation menus. Now I want to use a popup div using the AjaxControlToolkit ModalPopupExtender inside the content (#main) div. This works fine on IE8 (where #top, #left, #main all have position:fixed), but when I run it on IE6, the modal background only covers the #main div - I need it to cover the whole of the page including the #top and #left navigation divs. Looking at the script for ModalPopupExtender, it appears to be searching up the parent hierarchy until it finds a parent with position relative or absolute. And in the IE6 rendering, the #main div has position:absolute because position:fixed is not supported, which I guess explains what is happening. Any suggestions for the best/easiest way to get this working properly on IE6? Ideally without modifying the ModalPopupExtender code, but I'll do this if I have to and it's the best solution.

  I am using bootstrap on my site and am having issues with the navbar fixed top. When I am just using the regular navbar, everything is fine.   Given: I have a custom server control in the markup of an aspx page. This control creates child controls in its CreateChildControls() method (e.g. it retrieves content from a database and based on that content dynamically creates either a CheckBoxList or a RadioButtonList) Now I understand that I cannot access the dynamically created controls on postback unless I add them again on Page_Init or Page_PreInit (as per here). My question is, how do I add them again explicitly in Page_Init or Page_PreInit if they are just going to be added yet again when we get around to calling Render() on each of the custom server controls? I'm very certain this is not a unique problem, so there must be a best practice way of doing it...I just don't know what it is :/

My question then is: What is the use of the MODE_WORLD_READABLE flag if another app like GMail is unable to read the file?

• MPMoviePlayerController seems to make 2 calls for each movie

  I seem to have an issue where an iphone app using the MPMoviePlayerController seems to make 2 calls to the server for each video it wants to play back. This occurs with iphone 3.x OS and libraries but not with iphone 2.x. I know that iphone does progressive download and will make multiple 206 requests, etc. but as far as our back end is concerned the player appears to make 2 separate sessions. This only appears to be an issue with iPhone native apps and not iphone videos played through safari. Additional info from apple: iPhone OS 3.0 added support for streaming audio and video over HTTP, and MPMoviePlayerController must validate the media before playback to determine if it is streaming content or progressively downloaded content. This is the delay you are experiencing. On a fast network, the delay should be minimized. Is this double check causing 2 sessions be created for each video request? Any one else seeing same issue? Is there a remedy?

The client now wants to be able to duplicate these pages any number of times and edit the text within them. So basically, he wants to be have a dozen or so versions of about 4 linked pages. Does anyone know if it's possible to duplicate an entire multipage structure like this in WP? Or any WP driven sites that implement segmentation similarly?

• req.getParameter returns values wrong character encoding

  I'm trying to get values from a JSP using getParameter which includes ü,é,à etc. But get wrong values in servlet. I've checked the content type with firebug and found that Content-Type text/html;charset=UTF-8 checked the POST section with firebug and found the correct value there, when I try to access it in servlet it is wrong. Gives ö instead of ö req.getCharacterEncoding(); returns null. Tried with setting req.setCharacterEncoding("UTF-8"); at the beginning of servlet but didn't help.

  I have an asp.net web forms application that has been live for a number of years and as such has quite a lot of indexed content on google. Ideally, I'd prefer that all Url's for the website are in lowercase but I understand that having 2 versions of the same content indexed in search engines (MixedCase.aspx and mixedcase.aspx) will be bad for seo. I was wondering: a) Should I just leave everything in its current Mixed Case form and never change it? OR b) I can change the code so everything is in lowercase from here on in, BUT, is there a way of doing this so as the search engines are aware of this change and don't penalise me?

  In Photoshop, you can easily devide the image into zones using point and click and it automatically generates the corresponding html with image slices addressed in tables. Gimp also has a Slice (Filter Web Slice) but it is so rudimentary and, as far as I can see, does not allow point and click selection of slices. I am wondering if the functionality can be added into Gimp, or there are other Linux software to do this. I hate to return to Windows jut to do this simple task which I happen to use frequently.
