• FindControl() method throws ArithmeticException?

  I have a line of C# in my ASP.NET code behind that looks like this: DropDownList ddlStates = (DropDownList)fvAccountSummary.FindControl("ddlStates"); The DropDownList control is explicitly declared in the markup on the page, not dynamically created. It is inside of a FormView control. When my code hits this line, I am getting an ArithmeticException with the message "Value was either too large or too small for an Int32." This code has worked previously, and is in production right now. I fired up VS2008 to make some changes to the site, but before I changed anything, I got this exception from the page. Anyone seen this one before?

• Visual Studio 2010 Compiling C code

  I have the following code snippet. This is a c file in visual studio 2010. If i try to compile this with the line: int hello = 10; commented out it will compile just fine. If I comment that line in it will not compile. Am I missing something or should I not be using Visual Studio 2010 to compile C code. If this is a Visual Studio problem can anyone recommend a easy to use IDE / Compiler that I can for C. • Trouble converting string/character to byte in lisp

  I've some data that I'm reading in using read-line and I want to convert it into a byte-array. babel:string-to-octet works for the most part except when the character\byte is larger (above 200) in which case it returns two numbers. As an example, if the character is ú using babel:string-to-octet returns (195 185) instead of 250 which is what I'm looking for. I tried a number of encodings in babel but none of them seem to work. If I use read-byte or read-sequence it does read in 250. But for reasons of backward compatibility, I'm left with using read-line and I would like to know if there is something I'm missing when using babel:string-to-octet to convert ú to 250. I'm using ccl 1.8 btw.

• pre tag is being formatted strangely in page

  I am outputting some code in one of my pages, using a <pre> tag. The code is being output correctly, but for some strange reason, the first line of the code is indented (i.e. shifted to the right, by quite a large amount). I am not applying any style to that element, and I checked in FF Firebug and no styling is being applied, so I have no idea why the first line is shifted by so much to the right - any ideas? the code that generates the tag looks like this: <pre> <?php echo $script_code; ?> </pre> The generated code looks like this: <iframe src="http://www.example.com"> </iframe> Any ideas what may be going wrong?

• What does this C++ code mean

  I was trying to understand how webkit parses urls, and I'm having a hard time making heads or tails of this: Vector<char, 4096> buffer(fragmentEnd * 3 + 1); This line is on line 1214 (you can see it here: http://trac.webkit.org/browser/trunk/WebCore/platform/KURL.cpp#L1214). I get that it's making a vector of type char, with each entry being an array of char 4096 bytes large, but I don't get the buffer(fragmentEnd * 3 + 1) part. I think that it confuses me most b/c I can't find where the buffer variable is instantiated anywhere (shouldn't it be something more like Vector<char, 4096> buffer = new Vector<char, 4096>(...)? • C++ online Role Playing Game (RPG)

  So I've been learning C++ and SDL to make some basic 2d games. I want to create a game sort of like World of Warcraft but a 2D version. I want it to be on-line and use a database or something to start data like amount of Gold, HP, etc. I was wondering though, if I do this in SDL, would it still work on-line or would the user have to download SDL themselves to play? I just want a game like this but be able to play it with some friends, just for learning purposes you know. I was also looking at DirectX because everyone has that on windows pretty much. Anyways much help is appreciated, thanks!

• Regex for zeroing in on build output text error

  I'd like to quickly hone in on what failed in a build log output that is nearly 5k lines long, using Notepad++ as my editor for the file. Notepad++ has the nice ability to specify regular expressions, so I am wondering if there is a way to not match: Compile complete -- 0 errors, 0 warnings but to match, for example: Compile complete -- 1 errors, 0 warnings Compile complete -- 100 errors, 0 warnings where the match would be (1 or more) errors. If this isn't possible, I will probably just write a quick line-by-line parsing tool instead, but I was hoping someone on StackOverflow could whip out a regular expression in the same amount of time - I'm definitely not proficient enough with regular expressions to be able to write one for my needs in a short amount of time.

  The following code does not compile in VS2012, it gives error C2064: term does not evaluate to a function taking 1 arguments on the line of the second for_each (line 4 below). vector<string> v1; for_each(begin(v1), end(v1), [](string s1) { vector<string> v2; for_each(begin(v2), end(v2), [](string s2) { cout << "..."; }); }); I found some related stuff like http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/560907/capturing-variables-in-nested-lambdas which shows a bug (they are doing something different) but on the other hand that shows that what I print above should be possible. What's wrong with the above code?

  I am completely new to regular expressions so I'm looking for a bit of help here. I am compiling under JDK 1.5 Take this line as an example that I read from standard input: ab:Some string po:bubblegum What I would like to do is split by the two characters and colon. That is, once the line is split and put into a string array, these should be the terms: ab:Some string po:bubblegum I have this regex right now: String[] split = input.split("[..:]"); This splits at the semicolon; what I would like is for it to match two characters and a semicolon, but split at the space before that starts. Is this even possible? Here is the output from the string array: ab Some String po bubblegum I've read about Pattern.compile() as well. Is this something I should be considering?

  I need to write a list to a file in python. I know the list should be converted to a string with the join method, but since I have a tuple I got confused.   I am trying to use DocUtils and reStructuredText to comment SQL code. I can get this to work when I include the markup inside multi-line comments. I then use --Some text:: to introduce each block of code. I cannot get internal hyperlinks to work. I would like to write -- .. Step1_: but the parser ignores this because of the leading comment. Using a multi-line style also fails. Is there a way to get this to work? • Android: Unable to access a local website over HTTPS

  I am trying to access a locally hosted website and get its HTML source to parse. I have few questions: 1) Can I use "https://An IP ADDRESS HERE" as a valid URL to try and access. I do not want to make changes in the /etc/hosts file so I want to do it this way. 2) I cannot get the html, since it is giving me Handshake exceptions and Certificate issues. I have tried a lot of help available over the web , but am not successful. • Notepad++ regular expression find and replace $_REQUEST with $_GET but a more secure

  What I am doing is replacing, in a large program, all $_REQUEST['var'] and mysql_escape_string($_REQUEST['var']) with either the 1st or 2nd line below the dotted line. Now, I have figured out this much of the regular expression but I would like to make it simpler. Instead of having to run the top one first then the 2nd one I would like to just run one all together. I tried this but it did not work. (mysql_escape_string\()*$_REQUEST\[\'([^']*)\'\]\)(\)*) So below is what works but again have to do it twice. $_REQUEST\[\'([^']*)\'\] mysql_escape_string\($_REQUEST\[\'([^']*)\'\]\) (isset($_GET['\1'])?mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['\1']):false) (isset($_POST['\1'])?mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['\1']):false) ============================ Update: Yeah, after some research I figured out that Notepad++ does not support most regular expressions. I guess one additional step can not hurt a person. It's just laziness. *NOTE: BUT if anyone wants to try feel free to comment. At least it is just 2 steps and not 20.

• Dynamic SQL queries in code possible?

  Instead of hard coding sql queries like Select * from users where user_id =220202 can these be made dynamic like Select * from $users where $user_id = $input. Reason i ask is when changes are needed to table/column names i can just update it in one place and don't have to ask developers to go line by line to find all references to update. It is very time consuming. And I do not like the idea of exposing database stuff in the code. My major concern is load time. Like with dynamic pages, the database has to fetch the page content, same way if queries are dynamic first system has to lookup the references then execute the queries, so does it impact load times? I am using codeignitor PHP. If it it possible then the next question is where to store all the references? In the app, in a file, in the DB, and how?

• Expected symbol problems with this function declaration

  I am just getting back into the C programming realm and I am having an issue that I think is linker related. I am using cmake for the first time as well, so that could be adding to my frustration. I have included a third party header file that contains a typedef that my code is trying to use, and it has this line: typedef struct a a_t so my code has a_t *var; //later..... var->member;// this line throws the error which throws the error: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type So am I just missing another include file, or is this a linker issue? I am building this code in QtCreator and using cmake. I can dive on a_t to see that typedef declaration in the included header, but I can't seem to dive on "struct a" itself to see where it's coming from. Thanks

Say i have the following line in my program: jobSetupErrors.append("abc"); In the case above where jobSetupErrors is a StringBuilder(), what i see happen is: New String Object is created and assigned value "abc" value of that String object is assigned to the existing StringBuilder object If that is correct, and I add 1 more line ... jobSetupErrors.append("abc"); logger.info("abc"); In the above example are we creating String object separately 2 times? If so, would it be more proper to do something like this? String a = "abc"; jobSetupErrors.append(a); logger.info(a); Is this a better approach? Please advise

• I can I separate multiple logical pages in a text file I create in Perl?

  So far, I've been successful with generating output to individual files by opening a file for output as part of outer loop and closing it after all output is written. I had used a counting variable ($x) and appended .txt onto it to create a filename, and had written it to the same directory as my perl script. I want to step the code up a bit, prompt for a file name from the user, open that file once and only once, and write my output one "printed letter" per page. Is this possible in plain text? From what I understand, chr(12) is an ascii line feed character and will get me close to what I want, but is there a better way? • Using ManagementClass.Getinstances() from IronPython

  I have an IronPython script that looks for current running processes using WMI. The code looks like this: import clr clr.AddReference('System.Management') from System.Management import ManagementClass from System import Array mc = ManagementClass('Win32_Processes') procs = mc.GetInstances() That last line where I call the GetInstances() method raises the following error: Traceback (most recent call first): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> SystemError: Not Found I am not understanding what's not being found?!? I believe that I may need to pass an instance of ManagementOperationObserver and of EnumerationOptions to GetInstance() however, I don't understand why that is, since the method with the signature Getinstance() is available in ManagementClass.
