• stumped by WSGI module import errors

  Hi, I'm writing a bare bones Python wsgi application and am getting stumped by module import errors. I have a .py file in the current directory which initially failed to import. By adding sys.path.insert(0, '/Users/guhar/Sites/acom') the import of the module worked. But I now try and import a module that I had installed via easy_install and it fails to import. I tried setting sys.path.insert(0, '/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/') which contains the egg file, but to no avail. I would've thought that all packages under "/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/" would be available to a WSGI application. Does anybody have any pointers?

When I just ret without calling exit(), the application does not terminate and needs to be killed. Could anyone shed some light on this? It only happens when I make the call to SDL_SetVideoMode().

• Why is QProcess converting the '=' in my arguments to spaces

  I've run into a weird error with a Qt program running on Windows. The program uses QProcess to spawn a child process wit two arguments. The program and arguments passed to the QProcess::start() method are of the form: "batchfile.bat" "--option1=some_value" "--option2=some_other_value\with_a\path" For some reason by the time those options get to the batchfile for processing the equals signs have been converted to spaces and it now looks like: "batchfile.bat" "--option1 some_value" "--option2 some_other_value\with_a\path" because of this, the processing fails. Any ideas what could be causing the equal signs to be replaced by spaces? I'm using the mingw build of the QT 4.6.3 framework found on the Qt download page.

• Allowing threads from python after calling a blocking i/o code in a python extension generated using

  I have written a python extension wrapping an existing C++ library live555 (wrapping RTSP client interface to be specific) in SWIG. The extension works when it is operated in a single thread, but as soon as I call the event loop function of the library, python interpreter never gets the control back. So if I create a scheduled task using threading.Timer right before calling the event loop, that task never gets executed once event loop starts. To fix this issue, I added Py_BEGIN_ALLOW_THREADS and Py_END_ALLOW_THREADS macros manually in the SWIG auto generated wrapper cxx file around every doEventLoop() function call. But now, I want to do the same (i.e. allow threads) when SWIG generates the code itself and not to change any code manually. Has anyone done something similar in SWIG? P.S. - I would also consider switching to any other framework (like SIP) to get this working. I selected SWIG over any other technology is because writing SWIG interface was really very easy and I just had to include the existing header files.

• Ruby gems gone after after jruby install

  Today I installed jruby by downloading it, extracting it to /home/james/jruby-1.4.0 and adding the following line to .bashrc export JRUBY_HOME=/home/james/jruby-1.4.0 export PATH=$JRUBY_HOME/bin:$PATH And then I installed some jruby gems via jruby -S gem install ... Jruby works fine, but this seemed to have cause two problems: 1) When I try to run a ruby (not jruby) on rails migration, I see: Missing the Rails gem. Please `gem install -v= rails`, update your RAILS_GEM_VERSION setting in config/environment.rb for the Rails version you do have installed, or comment out RAILS_GEM_VERSION to use the latest version installed. 2) when I do gem list --local, I only see the gems that I've installed for jruby. Launching web applications via ruby script/server succeeds without any warnings. Please help.

  What's a simple and canonical way to read an entire file into memory in Scala? (Ideally, with control over character encoding.) The best I can come up with is: scala.io.Source.fromPath("file.txt").getLines.reduceLeft(_+_) or am I supposed to use one of Java's god-awful idioms, the best of which (without using an external library) seems to be: import java.util.Scanner import java.io.File new Scanner(new File("file.txt")).useDelimiter("\\Z").next() From reading mailing list discussions, it's not clear to me that scala.io.Source is even supposed to be the canonical I/O library. I don't understand what its intended purpose is, exactly. ... I'd like something dead-simple and easy to remember. For example, in these languages it's very hard to forget the idiom ... • Emacs CEDET and system include paths

  Hello everyone, I'd like to add path to the openMPI library headers. So, after i found all openMPI headers are in /usr/lib/openmpi/include/* i added these two lines to my .emacs: (semantic-add-system-include "/usr/lib/openmpi/include" 'c-mode) (semantic-add-system-include "/usr/lib/openmpi/include" 'c++-mode) I think this is ok, but it's not working! • graphviz segmentation fault

I wrote a simple python program to do the trick with graphviz, but it gives me segmentation fault and I don't know why, if the graph is too big or if i'm missing something.   I'm getting an error when I run the Spree sample data. It occurs when Spree tries to load in the product data, specifically the product images. • Can a CLSID be different for the same program installed on two different machines?

  I am using comtypes to generate wrappers for a certain com library. I am having certain issues with a few things, that are not being generated properly. I can get around this by doing the missing work, manually. However can i depend on the fact that CLSID's will not change? Lets say: I install a program with the com library Foo 1.0, now i install the exact same version of that program on another PC, will the CLSID's of the interfaces change? This might be a terribly dumb question.

But apparently it is done before rendering the view. My question is, does $this->load->view(); have to be the final step in a function? • Testing installation package in OpenSolaris

  Testing my "configure - make - make install" installation package on OpenSolaris, I found that all required files are placed to expected locations. usr/local/bin contains myprogram file. If I type in command line: /usr/local/bin/myprogram, it is working. However, typing "myprogram" without path does not work. Is /usr/local/bin directory included in OpenSolaris executable path? If not, why autoconfig tools place my executable to this directory? Installation package is created in Ubuntu.

• Embedding binary blobs using gcc mingw

  I am trying to embed binary blobs into an exe file. I am using mingw gcc. I make the object file like this: ld -r -b binary -o binary.o input.txt I then look objdump output to get the symbols: objdump -x binary.o And it gives symbols named: _binary_input_txt_start _binary_input_txt_end _binary_input_txt_size I then try and access them in my C program: #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdio.h> extern char _binary_input_txt_start[]; int main (int argc, char *argv[]) { char *p; p = _binary_input_txt_start; return 0; } Then I compile like this: gcc -o test.exe test.c binary.o But I always get: undefined reference to _binary_input_txt_start Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

  Hi all, on my search for a fast but comfortable web server I dropped into the homepage of EmbedThis(TM) AppWeb(TM) HTTP server. This one has 2 licencse models, GPLv2 and a commercial one with support. On the first view it looks good: the footprint is not too big, it is fast and it has a lot of configuration otions. The most important thing would be a fast PHP execution using a built-in PHP library. Unfortunately this PHP library doesn't include every option, especially "gettext" which one I need for I18N. My target platform is Linux on an embedded device with an ARM based CPU. Does anybody have experiences with the issues mentioned above? Kind regards, Andi

  Hi everybody, I'm very new to jQuery, Ajax and things like these. I've found solutions on how to inject HTML fragments into my site: $(document).ready(function(){ $('a').click(openContent); //binding all anchors to this function }); function openContent(){ var path = $(this).attr('href'); $('#content').load(path); return false; //to prevent browser from loading the single HTML fragment } That works really fine! The problem is, these function won't be executed when clicking on anchors located in the new HTML fragment which were injected right before. So the fragment won't get injected into div, the browser will only load the fragment for itself. Hope there are solutions which aren't that tricky... thanks sam

• iPhone: How to Maintain Original Image Size Thoughout Image Edits

  hi, I am developing an iPhone app that resizes and merges images. I want to select two photos of size 1600x1200 from photo library and then merge both into a single image and save that new image back to the photo library. However, I can't get the right size for the merged image. I take two image views of frame 320x480 and set the view's image to my imported images. After manipulating the images (zooming, cropping, rotating), I then save the image to album. When I check the image size it shows 600x800. How do I get the original size of 1600*1200? I've been stuck on this problem from two weeks! Thanks in advance.

  Hi all, Here is my question, I have a solution with 4 projects in it for a WCF Service : DLL Library : Service Interface. DLL Library : Service Code. Form Application : Service hosting application. Form Application : Service client application. I'd like to have certain properties of the service accessible for the hosting application but not for the client one. If I declare a property in the client interface they will both have access to it. In fact, my service manage user identity login and keep a list of all user currently logged in. I'd like to be able to show this list in the Hosting application, like a debugging tool. But I don't want the service client to be able to access to this list. How can I do ? Thank in advance.

  What is the equivalent of Quartz Window Services for Windows and X11? I want to be able to capture individual windows with their decorations, shadows, etc., completely independent from each other. Basically what the Son of Grab example is able to do. http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/samplecode/SonOfGrab/Introduction/Intro.html Also it seems like it's not possible to capture non-top-level windows with QWS in Mac. For example I want to be able to capture a Java or Flash applet running inside Firefox. What other library would I need to use instead?

• Setting up boost filesystem

  I've been having serious problems trying to set up boost. I must have installed and uninstalled the libraries a dozen times. In my most recent attempt, I followed these instructions: Download the zip and unzip it. Get the prebuilt jam executable and unzip it. Put that directory in your path. (Edit Path by using Control Panel...System..Advanced....Environemnt Variables) Open Visual Studio command prompt. Browse to boost directory. Run: bjam "-sTOOLS=vc-8_0" install The main reason I'm trying to use boost is for boost/filesystem yet nothing is working. I know this question has been asked before, but it only resulted in more errors.. Please Help!

  I'm currently working on a pinned website tile for my website and instead of using a static XML file i'm linking the tile to a web api that returns user specific XML. My question is: Is it possible to secure this tile so that a user needs to be logged in before the data loads? However, when I try to build the sample application (labrepl) I get a bunch of errors and a failed build. I haven't used Java in a long time and I've never used Netbeans, and the error doesn't seem very helpful with my limited knowledge of this domain. I'm using the latest Netbeans and the Enclosure URL from the guide. Since I am on Windows, I can't use git to clone the repo, so I'm not sure what to do from here.
