In Linux I would like to run a program but only for a limited time, like 1 second. If the program exceeds this running time I would like to kill the process and show an error message.
In descriptive logic, what is the difference between "someValuesFrom" and "allValuesFrom"?
In other words, the difference between (limited existential quantification) and (value restriction).
For example, consider this picture:
I have used the photoshop because I can't write some symbols.
Is there any way to simplify the concept of somevaluefrom and allvaluesfrom?
Hi all,
I am using Linq to entities and would like to know if I can get a limited number of records when i query. I just need the top N records as the query do the orderby and other clauses. Is this possible or I will have to get the top N using foreach loop?
Thanks in advance for Ideas and suggestions,
Abdel Olakara
Results shown in LINQPad are limited. If objects are deep nested, a red line is shown.
I would like to increase a limit, so I can see more nested objects.
Do you know how to do it? (I have not find that in options.)
My programming experience is limited to xhtml, css, php, sql and some javascript. The books I have are:
Programming in Objective-C 2nd Edition
Beginning iPhone Development
Cocoa(R) Programming for Mac(R) OS X (Paperback)
Is there anything else I will need to get started on my journey into iPhone/OS X development?
the current GPU threads are somehow limited (memory limit, limit of data structures, no recursion...).
do you think it would be feasible to implement a graph theory problem on GPU. for example vertex cover? dominating set? independent set? max clique?....
is it also feasible to have branch-and-bound algorithms on GPUs? Recursive backtracking?
I would like to do a "sexy" / user-friendly / appealing GUI in java. Swing is a limited in terms of "skin" customisation.
I'm thinking about JavaFX but I don't it yet,
what can I achieve with this technology ?
how hard is it ?
do you have examples of real-life examples of Swing/JavaFX integration ?
I would like to do something in this spirit of this, which is built on the .NET framework:

I need to write an user menu for an embedded device (mips linux). The menu has to be accessible from network (web page - AJAX?) and it has to be able to read/write hardware settings. What would be the easiest way to implement such an app/server? Where do I start?
PS: c/c++ preferred.
PS 2: I have limited resources
Has anyone taken the vmware certified professional exam? I was wondering if I can just take this class: http://mylearn1.vmware.com/mgrreg/courses.cfm?ui=www&a=one&id_subject=10103 or would I need to do additional studying on my own?
I'm a developer with limited server experience. I'm aware of the technologies but haven't worked with them directly.
Anyone that has taken the exam or has been in a similar situation, any insight would be appreciated.
Hi,
I have a line chart with four lines:
- Total
- A
- B
- C
It is a only a limited number of lines, and I want to allow the user to specify via input parameters what lines to show (i.e. ShowTotal, ShowA, ShowB, ShowC booleans).
Can it be done, and how?
Does anyone know or care to speculate why implicit typing is limited to local variables?
var thingy = new Foo();
But why not...
var getFoo() {
return new Foo();
}
I am trying to replace function calls written when methods were nonstatic to an updated version were they are.
For example: TABLE_foo(table1, ...rest is the same
with
table1.foo(...rest is the same
This is what I have come up with using my limited understanding of regex and this site.
find:
TABLE_(*)\((*),
replace:
$2.$1(
The above yields a dangling meta character '*' error. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Because my time is limited I can usually only focus on one or two of my hobby projects, while the others sit there wasting away.
I am looking for a solution that would allow me to divide my time better. is open sourcing where I take the role of guiding the project realistic, or are there better solutions?
In my case, one project has a reasonably sized community of users going for it but is currently closed source. There have been requests to open source it.
I need to use a shell across multiple ajax requests. Basically this means that the next request should be able to continue with the same shell where the other process left off.
The purpose is to communicate with daemons like FTP to open an FTP connection and log in and in the next request continue with that connection and be able to use it for uploads. But it's not limited to only the FTP daemon (as I know that FTP is supported in PHP).
Now that it looks like software patents are going to be severely limited, does anyone have a good argument for keeping them. It seems like copyright law serves software fine and patents just add overhead to what should be an almost frictionless process. Are there any examples of software that wouldn't have been written if not for patents?
Hi, I am building a site which will require some very limited content management for a client. There are only a few areas of the site which will require the client to be able to update the content themselves.
Would it be better to create a very simple custom admin page for the client to log in and say add a news story etc or would it be best using a fully fledged CMS like Drupal etc which seems overkill to me.
How do you detect the network connection type on Android?
Is it through ConnectivityManager.getActiveNetworkInfo().getType(), and the answer is limited to Wifi and mobile?
I have been looking through java web frameworks lately (though this question need not be limited to java), and I noticed that most examples on web framework websites leave out auth & auth examples in their stock documentation.
one ruby example: acts_as_authenticated (link?)
grails has: http://www.grails.org/Authentication+Plugin
Anyway, please throw up some links to your framework of choice, and a link to a nice walkthrough to implementing an auth&auth solution.
I created a web app and I want the users of the app to use limited functionality free.
Or I might even decide down the road to enable free users to use the app for no more than, say 10 days.
is there a library or framework which helps with such issues ?
Hello everybody,
There are string length limitations in database structure (email is declared as nvarchar[30] for instance)
There are lots of html forms that has input textbox fields that should be limited in length for that reason.
What is the best practice to synchronize database fields and html layout input fields length limitations ?
Can it be done automatically (html layout input fields declared the same max length as database data they represent)?
Thank you in advance.
What is a good way to represent a collection of bits?
I have a set of various on/off toggles (thousands of them) and need to store and retrieve their state. The naïve implementation would be an array of booleans, but I'm wondering if there's a better way (better in terms of access speed and/or memory requirements).
I've found this BitArray implementation, but it's limited to 32 bits, which is not enough for this case.
Can anyone share with me (without fervent evangelism, please) any comparative experiences you might have with regard to ColdFusion and PHP in developing internal enterprise browser-based applications?
Specifically (but not limited to):
1: Do the rapid-development characteristics of ColdFusion compensate for any performance issues resulting from the additional overhead?
2: Is either particularly suited to individual or team development?
3: Is rapidly developing an application in ColdFusion and then porting it to PHP to improve performance a proposition that only a madman or venture capitalist would consider?
i am going to "read" (video/big) files from server (shared environment) to clients (webbrowsers) via php and would like to know first if there is a way to reduce cpu and ram usage somehow (as i have those limited). thanks.
Hello,
I'm desperately looking for some statistics about usage of POP versus IMAP versus Exchange-MAPI, especially in professional context.
I know IMAP is used for accessing mails from mobile devices with limited bandwidth, whereas POP is the good old standard, and Exchange is more business-oriented.
Does someone know the approximate percentage of usage of each protocol ?
Thanks !
