  I have a very simple rmi client / server application. I don't use the "rmiregistry" application though, I use this to create the server: server = new RemoteServer(); registry = LocateRegistry.createRegistry(PORT); registry.bind("RemoteServer", server); The client part is: registry = LocateRegistry.getRegistry(IPADDRESS, PORT); remote = (IRemoteServer) registry.lookup("RemoteServer"); Here is the fascinating problem: The application works perfectly when both server and client are running in my (private) local network. As soon as I put the server on a public server, the application hangs for a minute, then gives me the following error: java.rmi.ServerException: RemoteException occurred in server thread; nested exception is: java.rmi.ConnectException: Connection refused to host: 192.168.x.y; nested exception is: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect at sun.rmi.server.UnicastServerRef.dispatch(Unknown Source) at sun.rmi.transport.Transport$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at sun.rmi.transport.Transport.serviceCall(Unknown Source) at sun.rmi.transport.tcp.TCPTransport.handleMessages(Unknown Source) at sun.rmi.transport.tcp.TCPTransport$ConnectionHandler.run0(Unknown Source ... (the rest is truncated) The key I think is that the client (running on my private network) cannot connect to myself (my address is 192.168.x.y where x.y is some other numbers, but the real error message shows my ip address listed there) If I kill the rmi server on the public internet, then I instantly get a "connection refused to host: a.b.c.d") message, so I know that something at the server end is at least working. Any suggestions? EDIT: just to make this a little more clear: 192.168.x.y is the client address, a.b.c.d is the server address. The stacktrace shows the client cannot connect to the client.

• OpenPeak Flash app XMLSocket Security Problem

  We're trying to create an app for OpenPeak. The Flash app will act as a client to a Java server on another computer on another domain. The Flash app client connects via XMLSocket. The Java Server uses ServerSocket to receive a request and send back a message. In order to trust the server, the Flash client needs a socket master policy file to tell it that the server comes from a trustworthy domain. According to an article on Adobe, when a connection has succeeded, the Flash client automatically requests the cross-domain policy or socket master policy file on port 843. Still, even when we implement it according to the tutorials and recommendations we have read, the Flash client continues to throw the following security error: SecurityErrorEvent type="securityError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2048" We've tried logging the policy file request during testing to see if there was any call made to port 843. There was not. Interestingly, even without a policy file, the Flash client still manages to send the first data message to the server successfully. It's just when the server tries to send back a reply that the entire thing hangs for about 10 seconds before the security error above is displayed. Any ideas / suggestions?

  I'm using the ruby serial port gem. After I open up the port I send the data I want like this. sp.write [200.chr, 30.chr, 7.chr, 5.chr, 1.chr, 2.chr, 0.chr, 245.chr].to_s It doesn't work, but if I put it in a loop of around 200 times: 200.times do sp.write [200.chr, 30.chr, 7.chr, 5.chr, 1.chr, 2.chr, 0.chr, 245.chr].to_s end It works. Any ideas on why this is happening?

• Running directx SDK samples on a Windows Mobile 6.1 device

  I tried to run the directx samples from ..\Windows Mobile 6 SDK\Samples\PocketPC\CPP\win32\directx\d3dm\tutorials on a Samsung Omnia and on the emulator and it doesn't work because of a deployment error. I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and have installed Windows Mobile SDK Standard and Professional refresh. The device is correctly plugged in and set up for active sync (I know this because other samples work, also a creating Win32 smart device application and running it works). When I try to run a directx sample application it compiles without errors but the message: " There were deployment errors, Continue? Yes/No" appears If I manually copy the application from the debug folder to the device and run it from there, it works. The same deployment error message appears if I try it on an emulator. Other applications are deploying successfully. Is there any way to make the deployment work? Maybe there is an obscure option I need to set... What I do is: Connect the Mobile device to the PC, Open Visual Studio 2008, Open a directx sample project, Click Run (in Debug or Release mode).

This is the first time and I am encountering problem with the following: I defined two steps in WizardSteps in the page: <WizardSteps> <asp:WizardStep ID="CreateUserWizardStep0" runat="server" Title="Sign Up for your new Account !!"> <asp:TextBox ID="Email" runat="server"> In the first wizard step, the user provides email, and we need to check if this email meets certain criteria (if he exists in our internal database, country is US etc) and if he/she is eligible navigate to CreateUserWizardStep1. I have a StartNextButton in the Start Navigation template for the WizardStep0. <StartNavigationTemplate> <br /> <asp:Button ID="StartNextButton" runat="server" CommandName="MoveNext" OnClick="StartNextButton_Click" Text="Check My Eligibility" /> </StartNavigationTemplate> I do all the logic of checking eligibility in the post-back event OnClick="StartNextButton_Click . If he is not eligible, I should display the error message in the step0 textbox and prevent navigation to CreateUserWizardStep1. I tried the following: if(noteligible) { lblError1.Visible = true; lblError1.Text = this.hfUserAlreadyRegistered.Value.ToString(); this.CreateUserWizard1.ActiveStepIndex = this.CreateUserWizard1.WizardSteps.IndexOf(this.CreateUserWizardStep0); this.CreateUserWizard1.Controls.Remove(CreateUserWizardStep1); this.CreateUserWizard1.ActiveStepIndex = 0; break; } But this is not working. I am taken out of step0 and step1 is coming irrespective of this. • NSFetchedResultsController secondary sorting not working?

  Hello, I'm using NSFetchedResultsController to fetch Message entities with Core Data. I want my tableview to group the messages by an attribute called ownerName. This works fine in the sense that I get a proper UI dispalying appropriately named sections. I can achieve this with the code below: NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"ownerName" ascending:NO]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor, nil]; [fetchRequest setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; NSFetchedResultsController *fetchedResultsController = nil; fetchedResultsController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetchRequest managedObjectContext:[appDelegate managedObjectContext] sectionNameKeyPath:@"ownerName" cacheName:@"Messages"] What'd I'd like to do now is have the section with the newest message at the top; exactly how it works with the Messages app on iPhone currently. I've tried adding a second sort descriptor and putting it in an array of sort descriptors and passing that to the fetchRequest but it doesn't appear to be affecting anything. Here is the 2nd sort descriptor that I used. • Forms/AD Authentication with Sharepoint

  All, I'm configuring Sharepoint to use forms authentication with LDAP/Active Directory. I'm new to Sharepoint, so if this is obvious, please point me in the right direction. Whenever I attempt to log in with a bad account or password, I get the very friendly (and correct) error message, The server could not sign you in. Make sure your user name and password are correct, and then try again. ... which implies that Sharepoint is able to communicate with AD. If I log in with a valid account, I get a page that says: (I added the grey bar to cover up the login name) Any suggestions? The account I'm logging in with is an administrator and has been granted full control in central administration. Also, interesting note: If I click the "sign in as a different user" link, and attempt to sign in using with the same credentials I just used, the site just redirects back to the login page, with no error or status message. If I then manually enter the site url, it again shows the "Error: Access Denied" page. Argh.

  I have a Python script that reads through a text csv file and creates a playlist file. However I can only do one at a time, like: python playlist.py foo.csv foolist.txt However, I have a directory of files that need to be made into a playlist, with different names, and sometimes a different number of files. So far I have looked at creating a txt file with a list of all the names of the file in the directory, then loop through each line of that, however I know there must be an easier way to do it.

• Updated MVC 4 to 5.2.0 via Nuget Site compiles but wont run

  I had the bright idea of updating my perfectly working ASP.Net MVC 4 application to the MVC 5 via nuget, Everything compiles just fine but when I try to run the application I get the following yellow screen of death. • Why is it assumed that send may return with less than requested data transmitted on a blocking socke

  The standard method to send data on a stream socket has always been to call send with a chunk of data to write, check the return value to see if all data was sent and then keep calling send again until the whole message has been accepted. For example this is a simple example of a common scheme: int send_all(int sock, unsigned char *buffer, int len) { int nsent; while(len 0) { nsent = send(sock, buffer, len, 0); if(nsent == -1) // error return -1; buffer += nsent; len -= nsent; } return 0; // ok, all data sent } Even the BSD manpage mentions that ...If no messages space is available at the socket to hold the message to be transmitted, then send() normally blocks... Which indicates that we should assume that send may return without sending all data. Now I find this rather broken but even W. Richard Stevens assumes this in his standard reference book about network programming, not in the beginning chapters, but the more advanced examples uses his own writen (write all data) function instead of calling write. Now I consider this still to be more or less broken, since if send is not able to transmit all data or accept the data in the underlying buffer and the socket is blocking, then send should block and return when the whole send request has been accepted. I mean, in the code example above, what will happen if send returns with less data sent is that it will be called right again with a new request. What has changed since last call? At max a few hundred CPU cycles have passed so the buffer is still full. If send now accepts the data why could'nt it accept it before? Otherwise we will end upp with an inefficient loop where we are trying to send data on a socket that cannot accept data and keep trying, or else? So it seems like the workaround, if needed, results in heavily inefficient code and in those circumstances blocking sockets should be avoided at all an non blocking sockets together with select should be used instead.

  I have a situation where loop through a sorted nodeset and apply a template on each of the nodes: <div id="contractscontainer"> <xsl:for-each select="document"> <xsl:sort select="content[@name='ClientName']/text()" /> <xsl:apply-templates select="." mode="client-contract" /> </xsl:for-each> </div> I want to do something special with the "first" 5 nodes in the node set and render them nested element. The problem is that they need to be in the same order as if they were sorted (as they are in the loop). I had planned on doing this by using two xsl:for-each elements, each with the correct nodes selected from the set. I can't do this, however, because they need to be sorted before I can select the "first" 5. • Redirect url to # (anchor)

  I have a site that I just converted to use anchor navigation.. hwww.site.com/shows is now www.site.com/#shows It loads the info from the /shows directory to a div and adds the hash tag to tell you where you are. The problem is, if you go to www.site.com/shows, the content is still there, but unstyled. How can I get it to redirect without going into an infinite loop of redirects? I'm sure I explained that terribly, hopefully you guys get it.

  I am trying to create a link server of a remote database(both the servers are SQL serve2005). I am able to connect that remote server from my SQL Server management studio. I used the following syntax to create it. EXEC sp_addlinkedserver @server = N'LINKSQL2005', @srvproduct = N'', @provider = N'SQLNCLI', @provstr = N'SERVER=IP Address of remote server ;User ID=XXXXXX;Password=***' I have provided the IP addressntax. and user name and password in the above syntax. The link server is getting created. But when I try to execute a query on it I get the error below. Query Used. select * from LINKSQL2005.<DBName>.dbo.<TableName> OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "LINKSQL2005" returned message "Communication link failure". Msg 10054, Level 16, State 1, Line 0 TCP Provider: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. Msg 18456, Level 14, State 1, Line 0 Login failed for user 'sa'.   Hello, The question environment relates to JavaEE, Spring I am developing a system which can start and stop arbitrary TCP (or other) listeners for incoming messages. There could be a need to authenticate these messages. These messages need to be parsed and stored in some other entities. These entities model which fields they store. So for example if I have property1 that can have two text fields FillLevel1 and FillLevel2, I could receive messages on TCP which have both fill levels specified in text as F1=100;F2=90 Later I could add another filed say FillLevel3 when I start receiving messages F1=xx;F2=xx;F3=xx. But this is a conscious decision on the part of system modeler. My question is what do you think is better to use for parsing and storing the message. ETL (using Pantaho, which is used in other system) where you store the raw message and use task executor to consume them one by one and store the transformed messages as per your rules. One could use Espr or Drools to do the same thing , storing rules and executing them with timer, but I am not sure how dynamic you could get with making rules (they have to be made by end user in a running system and preferably in most user friendly way, ie no scripts or code, only GUI) The end user should be capable of changing the parse rules. It is also possible that end user might want to change the archived data as well (for example in the above example if a new value of FillLevel is added, one would like to put a FillLevel=-99 in the previous values to make the data consistent). Please ask for explanations, I have the feeling that I need to revise this question a bit. Thanks

  Hi I have fully working project in .net 3.5SP1, with EF 1 ORM. I tried to upgrade to .net 4. No issue while upgrading... Then i ran the project and got a NullExecptionError, with no stack trace... and no way to debug. I read somewhere this solution, using the accumulation buffer: glAccum(GL_MULT, 0.90); glAccum(GL_ACCUM, 0.10); glAccum(GL_RETURN, 1.0); glFlush(); at the end of the render loop. But nothing happens... What I am missing ?

  I want to define a generator from a list that will output the elements one at a time, then use this generator object in an appropriate manner. a = ["Hello", "world", "!"] b = (x for x in a) c = next(b, None) while c != None: print c, c = next(b, None) Is there anything wrong or improvable with the while approach here? Is there a way to avoid having to assign 'c' before the loop? Thanks!

Basically, when the user submits the first form, I want to direct them to the "next step" form, but I want to retain the values submitted from the first one in a hidden input field... If someone can either show me how or point me to a good tutorial, I'd appreciate it...
