• Azure git deployment - missing references in 2nd assembly

  I'm trying to setup Bitbucket deployment to an Azure website. I successfully have Bitbucket and Azure linked, but when I push to Bitbucket, I get the following error on the Azure site: If I click on 'View Log', it shows the following compile errors: D:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.targets(1578,5): warning MSB3245: Could not resolve this reference. • System.Reflection and InvokeMember, storing type, assembly, and object in a class

  I have tested code to call a method inside of a compiled DLL, and it works. I created a class to store the object, type, and loaded assembly, but something is lost in translation because it is unable to find the member I wish to invoke. If I create a type, object, and assembly, and properly load everything into these and perform InvokeMember on the type, it works just fine. However, when I use the things inside of my class, it throws a MissingMemberException and does not invoke the member, obviously. What am I doing wrong? The member in question is a subroutine which takes one argument, a string. This is quite frustrating. • TwoWay Binding With ItemsControl

  I'm trying to write a user control that has an ItemsControl, the ItemsTemplate of which contains a TextBox that will allow for TwoWay binding. However, I must be making a mistake somewhere in my code, because the binding only appears to work as if Mode=OneWay. • Dependency Properties and Data Context in Silverlight 3

  Hello, I am working with Silverlight 3 beta, and am having an issue. I have a page that has a user control that I worte on it. The user control has a dependency property on it. If the user control does not define a data context (hence using the parent's data context), all works well. But if the user control has its own data context, the dependency property's OnPropertyChanged method never gets called.   Hi! I created a report in VS using a shared data source which is connected to a sharepoint list. I have created a parameter and when I preview the Report I see the dropdownbox which I can use to make a selection from the Title field, when I do this it still shows the first record, obviously it doens't work yet (DUH!) because I need to create a query somewhere, But! I have no idea where, I tried to include <Where> <Eq> <FieldRef Name="ows_Title" /> <Value Type="Text">testValue</Value> </Eq> </Where> in the the soap request but it didn't worked... I've searched teh intarwebz but couldn't find any simliar problems... kinda stuck now...any thoughts on this? • WinQual: Why would WER not accept code-signing certificates?

  In 2005 i tried to establish a WinQual account with Microsoft, so i could pick up our (if any) crash dump files submitted automatically through Windows Error Reporting (WER). i was not allowed to have my crash dumps, because i don't have a Verisign certificate. Instead i have a cheaper one, generated by a Verisign subsidiary: Thawte. The method in which you join is: you digitally sign a sample exe they provide. This proves that you are the same signer that signed apps that they got crash dumps from in the wild. Cryptographically, the private key is needed to generate a digital signature on an executable. Only the holder of that private key can create a signature with for the matching public key. It doesn't matter who generated that private key. That includes certificates that are generated from: self-signing Wells Fargo DigiCert SecureTrust Trustware QuoVadis GoDaddy Entrust Cybertrust GeoTrust GlobalSign Comodo Thawte Verisign Yet Microsof's WinQual only accepts digital certificates generated by Verisign. Not even Verisign's subsidiaries are good enough (Thawte). Can anyone think of any technical, legal or ethical reason why Microsoft doesn't want to accept code-signing certificates? The WinQual site says: Why Is a Digital Certificate Required for Winqual Membership? A digital certificate helps protect your company from individuals who seek to impersonate members of your staff or who would otherwise commit acts of fraud against your company. Using a digital certificate enables proof of an identity for a user or an organization. Is somehow a Thawte digital certificate not secure? Two years later, i sent a reminder notice to WinQual that i've been waiting to be able to get at my crash dumps. The response from WinQual team was: Hello, Thanks for the reminder. We have notified the appropriate people that this is still a request. In 2008 i asked this question in a Microsoft support forum, and the response was: We are only setup to accept VeriSign Certificates at this point. We have not had an overwhelming demand to support other types of certificates. What can it possibly mean to not be "setup" to accept other kinds of certificates? If the thumbprint of the key that signed the WinQual.exe test app is the same as the thumbprint that signed the executable who's crash dump you got in the wild: it is proven - they are my crash dumps, give them to me. And it's not like there's a special API to check if a Verisign digital signature is valid, as opposed to all other digital signatures. A valid signature is valid no matter who generated the key. Microsoft is free to not trust the signer, but that's not the same as identity. So that is my question, can anyone think of any practical reason why WinQual isn't setup to support digital signatures? One person theorized that the answer is that they're just lazy: Not that I know but I would assume that the team running the winQual system is a live team and not a dev team - as in, personality and skillset geared towards maintenance of existing systems. I could be wrong though. They don't want to do work to change it. But can anyone think of anything that would need to be changed? It's the same logic no matter what generated the key: "does the thumbprint match". What am i missing?

• WPF: Focus in a Window and UserControl

  I'm trying to get a UserControl to tab properly and am baffled. The logical tree looks like this. |-Window -Grid -TabControl -TabItem -StackPanel -MyUserControl |-StackPanel -GroupBox -Grid -ComboBox -Textbox1 -Textbox2 Everything works fine, except when the visibility converter for the ComboBox returns Visibility.Collapsed (don't allow user to change database mode), then when textbox1 is selected, instead of being able to tab through the controls in the UserControl, the focus shifts to a button declared at the bottom of the window. Nothing else apart from the controls displayed has TabIndex or FocusManager properties set. I'm banging my head against a brick wall and I must be missing something.   I have the binary for several pdf files stored in a collection of Byte arrays. My goal is to concatenate them into a single .pdf file using abcpdf, then stream that newly created file to the Response object on a page of an ASP.Net website. Had been doing it like this: BEGIN LOOP ... 'Create a new Doc Dim doc As Doc = New Doc 'Read the binary of the current PDF doc.Read(bytes) 'Append to the master merged PDF doc _mergedPDFDoc.Append(Doc) END LOOP Which was working fine 95% of the time. Every now and then however, creating a new Doc object would throw a System.ExecutionEngineException and crash the CLR. It didn't seem to be related to a large number of pdfs (sometimes would happen w/ only 2), or with large sized pdfs. It seemed almost completely random. This is a known bug in abcpdf described (not very well) here Item 6.24. I came across a helpful SO post which suggested using a Using block for the abcpdf Doc object. So now I'm doing this: Using doc As New Doc 'Read the binary of the current PDF doc.Read(bytes) 'Append to the master merged PDF doc _mergedPDFDoc.Append(doc) End Using And I haven't seen the problem occur again yet, and have been pounding on a test version as best as I can to get it to. Has anyone had any similar experience with this error? Did this fix it?

• AWS Amazon EC2 - password-less SSH login for non-root users using PEM keypairs

  We've got a couple of clusters running on AWS (HAProxy/Solr, PGPool/PostgreSQL) and we've setup scripts to allow new slave instances to be auto-included into the clusters by updating their IPs to config files held on S3, then SSHing to the master instance to kick them to download the revised config and restart the service. It's all working nicely, but in testing we're using our master pem for SSH which means it needs to be stored on an instance. Not good. I want a non-root user that can use an AWS keypair who will have sudo access to run the download-config-and-restart scripts, but nothing else. rbash seems to be the way to go, but I understand this can be insecure unless setup correctly. So what security holes are there in this approach: New AWS keypair created for user.pem (not really called 'user') New user on instances: user Public key for user is in ~user/.ssh/authorized_keys (taken by creating new instance with user.pem, and copying it from /root/.ssh/authorized_keys) Private key for user is in ~user/.ssh/user.pem 'user' has login shell of /home/user/bin/rbash ~user/bin/ contains symbolic links to /bin/rbash and /usr/bin/sudo /etc/sudoers has entry "user ALL=(root) NOPASSWD: ~user/.bashrc sets PATH to /home/user/bin/ only ~user/.inputrc has 'set disable-completion on' to prevent double tabbing from 'sudo /' to find paths. ~user/ -R is owned by root with read-only access to user, except for ~user/.ssh which has write access for user (for writing known_hosts), and ~user/bin/* which are +x Inter-instance communication uses 'ssh -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no -i ~user/.ssh/user.pem user@ sudo ' Any thoughts would be welcome. • jQuery UI dialog on ASP.NET page (inside user control)

  I have a really odd behavior here: I created a little popup dialog in jQuery UI, and in my test HTML page, it works flawlessly. When I click on the button, the popup comes up, covers the background, and remains on screen until I click on one of the two buttons (OK or Cancel) provided. So now I wanted to add this into my ASP.NET 3.5 app. I wanted to add it to a GridView inside a user controls (ASCX), which is on a page (ASPX) contained inside a master page. The jQuery 1.4.2 and jQuery UI 1.8.1 scripts are referenced on the master page: <body> <form id="XXXXXX" runat="server"> <Ajax:ScriptManager ID="masterScriptManager" runat="server" ScriptMode="Auto"> <Scripts> <asp:ScriptReference Path="~/Scripts/jquery-1.4.2.min.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Path="~/Scripts/jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.min.js" /> </Scripts> </Ajax:ScriptManager> I had to change this to use the Ajax script manager, since adding them to the as never worked. So in my gridview, I have a column with image buttons, and when the user clicks on those, I am calling a little javascript function to show the jQuery UI dialog: function showDialog() { $("#dlg-discount").dialog('open'); $("#txtAmount").focus(); } When I run this page in MS IE 8, I get a separate page, and at the top of the page, I get the contents of my , with proper background color and all. In Firefox 3.5.6, I do get the dialog as a popup. In both cases, the dialog page/popup disappears again after a second or less - without me clicking anything! It seems similar to this question but the solution provided there doesn't work in my case. This one here also seems similar but again: the solution presented doesn't seem to work in my case... • error_log php.ini setting has no effect on IIS 7/FastCGI/Win7/PHP5.3.2

  I have a very strange problem with PHP 5.3.2 running on IIS 7 on a fresh Windows 7 installation. Changing the error_log configuration options in the php.ini does not seem to have any effect. I cannot change the option to point to anything other than the default location. Here is a portion of my php.ini file and the output from phpinfo() before and after changing some configuration options. Everything else seems to have taken effect except the error_log option. I have noticed that the fastcgi.logging option also appears to be stuck. A previous setup with PHP 5.3.2 on Win XP and IIS 5.5 exhibited no problems. • cellForRowAtIndexPath not being called on tableView reloadData

  I have a UITableView on one view that loads in data at the start of the application, and then later when a user enters text into a box and hits a button, I re-query the database, re-populate the original NSMutableArray that stores the data for the table. All of that is working perfectly. In some logging statements I can tell that the array has the correct information, the numberOfRowsInSection method is returning the proper count, and is being called after the reload is called. However, the cellForRowAtIndexPath is never called the second time (after the reload) and the table data is never updated. I've spent hours searching the net and I've found nothing that helps. Can anyone help?   I am very confused the View and corresponding controller has to be set in MVC 1.0 project structure. Currently in a default application we have About.aspx page under Home folder and all the controller action is handled in HomeController. This controller mixes up Home action and About action. It makes things messy. I like to have clear separation of my controller. Like to have one About Controller and HomeCotroller separately. For it I have create another folder "About" under view folder and place Aboput.aspx in it , otherwise we will get the error below. How can I achieve it ?? I like to have exact folder structure as in View, same as in Cotroller. The view 'About' or its master could not be found. The following locations were searched: ~/Views/About/About.aspx ~/Views/About/About.ascx ~/Views/Shared/About.aspx ~/Views/Shared/About.ascx Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. • Large Django application layout

  I am in a team developing a web-based university portal, which will be based on Django. We are still in the exploratory stages, and I am trying to find the best way to lay the project/development environment out. My initial idea is to develop the system as a Django "app", which contains sub-applications to separate out the different parts of the system. The reason I intended to make these "sub" applications is that they would not have any use outside the parent application whatsoever, so there would be little point in distributing them separately. We envisage that the portal will be installed in multiple locations (at different universities, for example) so the main app can be dropped into a number of Django projects to install it. We therefore have a different repository for each location's project, which is really just a settings.py file defining the installed portal applications, and a urls.py routing the urls to it. I have started to write some initial code, though, and I've come up against a problem. Some of the code that handles user authentication and profiles seems to be without a home. It doesn't conceptually belong in the portal application as it doesn't relate to the portal's functionality. It also, however, can't go in the project repository - as I would then be duplicating the code over each location's repository. If I then discovered a bug in this code, for example, I would have to manually replicate the fix over all of the location's project files. My idea for a fix is to make all the project repos a fork of a "master" location project, so that I can pull any changes from that master. I think this is messy though, and it means that I have one more repository to look after. I'm looking for a better way to achieve this project. Can anyone recommend a solution or a similar example I can take a look at? The problem seems to be that I am developing a Django project rather than just a Django application.

  I'm really new to ASP.NET MVC, and I'm trying to integrate some Javascript into a website I'm making as a test of this technology. My question is this: how can I insert Javascript code into a View? Let's say that I start out with the default ASP.NET MVC template. In terms of Views, this creates a Master page, a "Home" View, and an "About" view. • How can I add a link with a UID from a User Reference from a table in Drupal Views

  I have the following in Drupal 6: A Master CCK type which contains a User reference field and other fields. There will only be one record per user here. A View of this CCK, shown as a table, with one of the fields being the user ref from the CCK type. This field is initially shown as a user name, linking to the user profile. A Second CCK type which can have several pieces of data about a particular user. A View for this CCK type, displaying information as a table. It takes a user id as an argument (an integer) I want to click on the user name in the master view, and be directed to the detail view for this user. To do this, I tried selecting 'Output this field as a link' on the user field. The thing available for me to replace are: Fields * [field_my_user_ref_uid_1] == Content: User (field_my_user_ref) Arguments * %1 == User: Uid However, the [field_my_user_ref_uid_1] element is replaced by the user name, and %1 seems to get replaced with an empty string. How can I put the user id in here?

• Autocomplete extender problems on user control

  I'm having trouble getting autocompleteextender (from ajaxcontroltoolkit) to fire when it is on a user control (it works fine when everything is on an aspx page. In my case I'm using a master page as well as a user control. Here's what I have. • git-p4 submit fails with "Not a valid object name HEAD~261"

  I've got a git repository that I'd like to mirror to a Perforce repository. I've downloaded the git-p4 script (the more recent version that doesn't give deprecation warnings), and have been working with that. I've figured out how to pull changes from Perforce, but I'm getting an error when I try to sync changes from the git repo back. Here's what I've done so far: git clone [email protected]:asdf/qwerty.git git-p4 sync //depot/path/to/querty git merge remotes/p4/master (there was a single README file...) So, I've copied the origin to a clean, new director, got a lovely looking merged tree of files, and git status shows I'm up-to-date. But: > git-p4 submit fatal: Not a valid object name HEAD~261 Command failed: git cat-file commit HEAD~261 This thread on the git mailing list seems to be relevant, but I can't figure out what they're doing with all the A, B, and Cs. Could someone please clarify what "Not a valid object name" means, and what I can do to fix the problem? All I want to do is to periodically snapshot the origin/master into Perforce; a full history is not required. Thanks.
