• Android Google-Shopping API force closes while parsing

• Printing to STDOUT and log file while removing ANSI color codes

  I have the following functions for colorizing my screen messages: def error(string): return '\033[31;1m' + string + '\033[0m' def standout(string): return '\033[34;1m' + string + '\033[0m' I use them as follows: print error('There was a problem with the program') print "This is normal " + standout("and this stands out") I want to log the output to a file (in addition to STDOUT) WITHOUT the ANSI color codes, hopefully without having to add a second "logging" line to each print statement. The reason is that if you simply python program.py > out then the file out will have the ANSI color codes, which look terrible if you open in a plain text editor. Any advice?

  I have a curious problem with IE, IIS 6.0 dynamic PNG files and I am baffled as to how to fix.. I have made sure my HTML is XHTML compliant, I have made sure I am getting no Routing errors or crashes in my event log on the server.... Now obviously I have been a muppet and have done something wrong... but what I cant fathom is why in development all works fine, and in production all non IE browsers also work fine, but IE 8 using IIS 6.0 production server is having some kind of problem in returning this PNG and I dont have an error to trace... so what I am looking for is guidance as to how I can debug this problem.

  It appears to me that it matters whether you use a variable to temporary store an IQueryable or not. Isn't this logic that is supposed to work in LINQ?

  I am trying to parse the contents of http://feeds.feedburner.com/riabiz using XDocument.Parse(string) (because it gets cached in a DB.) However, it keeps failing with the below stack trace when it tries to resolve some URIs in that XML. I don't care about validation or any of that XML nonsense, I just want the structure parsed. How can I use XDocument without this URI resolution? I'd like to define the prototype function INSIDE of the class definition. Is there anything wrong with doing something like this? function Container(param) { this.member = param; if (!Container.prototype.stamp) { Container.prototype.stamp = function() { return this.member + string; } } } I was trying this so that I could access a private variable in the class. • Am I using handlers in the wrong way?

  Hey, I've never used HTTP Handlers before, and I've got one working, but I'm not sure if I'm actually using it properly. I have generated a string which will be saved as a CSV file. When the user clicks a button, I want the download dialog box to open so that the user can save the file. What I have works, but I keep reading about modifying the web.config file and I haven't had to do that.   In my app I have a textView which contains real-time messages from my app, as things happen, messages get printed to this text box. Each message is time-stamped with HH:MM:SS. Up to now, I had also been chasing what seemed to be a memory leak, but as it turns out, it's just my time-stamp formatting method (see below), It apparently produces thousands of objects that later get gc'd. For 1-10 messages per second, I was seeing 500k-2MB of garbage collected every second by the GC while this method was in place. • How to get some xml that comes before and a little from after a DOM Node.

  I am using java and I am pretty open to using w3c DOM or DOM4J at this point. So lets say I have a Node like a text node that I have found something interesting in, like say an occurrence of a substring in the nodes text. If I want to get a string with a number characters preceding that node and a few characters after that node how may I do that? Basically I need to be able to display a snippet of the original xml around the occurrence of that string. The problem I have with getting the parent node for example and then calling asXML is that I no longer know the exact location of the substring in the text node. If I search again for that string value in the parents xml then I may find 2 occurrences or many more if the parent has other children that contain an occurrence of that string. Much appreciation if any one can answer this question.

  Let's say I have a table that has a varchar field. If I do an insert like this: INSERT MyTable SELECT N'the string goes here' Is there any fundamental difference between that and: INSERT MyTable SELECT 'the string goes here' My understanding was that you'd only have a problem if the string contained a Unicode character and the target column wasn't unicode. Other than that, SQL deals with it just fine and converts the string with the N'' into a varchar field (basically ignores the N). I was under the impression that N in front of strings was a good practice, but I'm unable to find any discussion of it that I'd consider definitive. Title may need improvement, feel free.
