• Optimizing apache server load

  We have an issue with a dedicated server load. We have 16 processors with 4 core @ 2.40GHz, if I understood correctly cat /proc/cpuinfo output. Unfortunately, I don't have access to free -m or vmstat. But from top I got that we have 24 GB. And snapshot from top about processes: As far as I see, memory is not used at all. But the cpu is used heavily. Apache consumes most of CPU.   Is the System.Tuple class supported by WCF's Data Contract Serializer (i.e., can I pass Tuple objects to WCF calls and/or receive them as part or all of the result)? I found this page, but not the clear, definitive "you can send and receive Tuples with WCF" answer I was hoping for. I'm guessing that you can, as long as all of the types within the Tuple itself are supported by the Data Contract Serializer -- can anyone provide me with a more definitive answer? Thanks.

• Windows Server 2012 IPAM feature - "Unblock IPAM Access" error/recomended action

  So, I'm in the process of setting up an IP Address Management server, using the built-in IPAM feature in Server 2012, and have run into a problem that I'm hoping someone else has successfully solved. Following the technet guide here, I've installed and configured IPAM, and have provisioned it via GPO. After verifying that the PowerShell invoke-ipamgpoprovisioning command is successful, managing the desired servers in IPAM, running gpupdate /force on the servers and refreshing my view in IPAM, I'm still getting the less-than-useful recommended action of "Unblock IPAM Access" for all servers. (First done 3 hours ago, so it's not a give-it-time-to-propagate issue.) Can't, for the life of me, seem to figure out what's causing this, find anything useful in the logs, or find much about this on Google or in the help files, so I was wondering if anyone here had any ideas about how to fix this, or even where to start looking. I'd really like to get this working, because if not, I have to resume work on creating an Excel spreadsheet for IP address management.

• WCF Data Service BeginSaveChanges not saving changes in Silverlight app

  I'm having a hell of a time getting WCF Data Services to work within Silverlight. I'm using the VS2010 RC. I've struggled with the cross domain issue requiring the use of clientaccesspolicy.xml & crossdomain.xml files in the web server root folder, but I just couldn't get this to work. I've resorted to putting both the Silverlight Web App & the WCF Data Service in the same project to get past this issue, but any advice here would be good. But now that I can actually see my data coming from the database and being displayed in a data grid within Silverlight I thought my troubles were over - but no. I can edit the data and the in-memory entity is changing, but when I call BeginSaveChanges (with the appropriate async EndSaveChangescall) I get no errors, but no data updates in the database. • which performance counters mainly matter for windows server performance?

  We have a website which is sometimes performing slowly, and / or completely hangs. I have setted up temporarily the default system performance data collector in Performance Monitor, to see if this can shed some light. However, the default Data Collector set collects a huge amount of counters, as well as generates huge logs files. Just 8 hours of data resulted in 4GB of data. Which performance counters matter the most, when judging server load? Also, is it a performance concern if one leaves such data-collectors running indefinitely? Obviously, I will not know when the server will experience slow performance, so I need the logs there so that I can check them out. Any other specific guidelines on monitoring server performance would be greatly appreciated. OS is a Windows Server 2008 R2 (Web Edition).

• Windows 7 installation too slow

  I have P.C with Emaxx Motherboard : emx-a55gm-icafe with AMD dual core processor,500 GB WD Sata HDD,2GB of RAM,samsung dvdr,windows 7 dvd which is all brandnew. When i was trying to install windows 7 ulitmate on my P.C it really takes hours on setting up, which is really rare and i'm still hopeless getting a solution for this.But I don't have any issue installing windows 7 on my HP laptop that can be finished within just more than 20minutes. There is same issue that ive search in google and disabling the floppy disk drive in BIOS is their solution, but my problem is, Emaxx icafe doesnt have floppy disk drive setting on bios. I already change ACHI/IDE Support but i have still no luck. Is there any solution for this? Thanks in Regards

I have those four folders with for storing drawables in my app: /res/drawable-hdpi /res/drawable-ldpi /res/drawable-mdpi /res/drawable-nodpi the splash image has its own version in the first three of them and is displayed properly. Removing the src property from the ImageView removes the image but not the exception. I'm a little bit lost with where to look for the cause of the exception. I even don't know if this is really an issue in this layout file etc. How would you go about finding the cause for this warning?

• Setting up a VPN connection to Amazon VPC - routing

  I am having some real issues setting up a VPN between out office and AWS VPC. The "tunnels" appear to be up, however I don't know if they are configured correctly. The device I am using is a Netgear VPN Firewall - FVS336GV2 If you see in the attached config downloaded from VPC (#3 Tunnel Interface Configuration), it gives me some "inside" addresses for the tunnel. When setting up the IPsec tunnels do I use the inside tunnel IP's (e.g. 169.254.254.2/30) or do I use my internal network subnet (10.1.1.0/24) I have tried both, when I tried the local network (10.1.1.x) the tracert stops at the router. When I tried with the "inside" ips, the tracert to the amazon VPC (10.0.0.x) goes out over the internet. this all leads me to the next question, for this router, how do I set up stage #4, the static next hop? What are these seemingly random "inside" addresses and where did amazon generate them from? 169.254.254.x seems odd? With a device like this, is the VPN behind the firewall? I have tweaked any IP addresses below so that they are not "real". I am fully aware, this is probably badly worded. Please if there is any further info/screenshots that will help, let me know. Amazon Web Services Virtual Private Cloud IPSec Tunnel #1 ================================================================================ #1: Internet Key Exchange Configuration Configure the IKE SA as follows - Authentication Method : Pre-Shared Key - Pre-Shared Key : --- - Authentication Algorithm : sha1 - Encryption Algorithm : aes-128-cbc - Lifetime : 28800 seconds - Phase 1 Negotiation Mode : main - Perfect Forward Secrecy : Diffie-Hellman Group 2 #2: IPSec Configuration Configure the IPSec SA as follows: - Protocol : esp - Authentication Algorithm : hmac-sha1-96 - Encryption Algorithm : aes-128-cbc - Lifetime : 3600 seconds - Mode : tunnel - Perfect Forward Secrecy : Diffie-Hellman Group 2 IPSec Dead Peer Detection (DPD) will be enabled on the AWS Endpoint. The local IPs to use when setting up the tunnels where indeed my network subnets. Which further confuses me over what these "inside" IP addresses are for. The problem is, results are not consistent what so ever. I can "sometimes" ping, I can "sometimes" RDP using the VPN. Sometimes, Tunnel 1 or Tunnel 2 can be up or down. When I came back into work today, Tunnel 1 was down, so I deleted it and re-created it from scratch. Now I cant ping anything, but Amazon AND the router are telling me tunnel 1/2 are fine. I guess the router/vpn hardware I have just isnt up to the job..... EDIT #2 Now Tunnel 1 is up, Tunnel 2 is down (I didn't change any settings) and I can ping/rdp again. • My linux server time and log files are not the same

  Hi i have installed NTP on my linux server and i am getting my clock from a 6500 core switch, everything is working fine. When i ssh to a switch i have it all sent to a log file on the linux server, this log file does not time stamp with the same time as i have on the server. the date and hwclock are the same. But my my is exatly 6 hours behind my date on the server wich is CET. Has annyone have that same problem ? bedst regards Martin

The stack trace isn't 100% clear on where this is happening, but I'm certain it's this routine that's being called. It's either the save: in this method or the one following. The time this happend, addEntityForType was called all the way through, creating a new object for the "whereTasted" entity, before the final save: on the entire wine object. When I go through the same procedure again, it works fine. This leads me to believe it's something to do with the app having been run for a while when adding a new location, but I'm not sure. Any thoughts on how I can debug this and get more info the next time this happens?

This TreeView has a HierarchicalDataTamplate in a resource dictionary, that defines various controls. Now I want to hide (Visibility.Collapse) some items depending on wether a node has children or not. Other items shall be visible under the same condition. It works like charm when I first bind the source tree to the TreeView, but when I change the source tree, the visibility in the treeview does not change.   I have been having problems connecting with my Wi-Fi. It is weird, the ping times to the router (<30 feet away) seem to surge, often getting over 10 seconds before slowly coming back down. The signal strength is ~60% with 9% noise.   Every few seconds our new Cisco ASA 5505 firewall is logging errors that I can't figure out with my limited Cisco experience. • Event 4098, 0x80070533 Logon failure: account currently disabled?

  Having started to upgrade our PCs to Windows 7 we have noticed that we are getting group policy warnings in Event Viewer such as: "The user 'Word.qat' preference item in the 'a_Office2007_Users {A084A37B-6D4C-41C0-8AF7-B891B87FC53B}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070533 Logon failure: account currently disabled.' This error was suppressed." 15 of these warnings appear every two hours on every Windows 7 PC, most of which are to do with core office applications and two are for plug-ins to out document management system. These warnings aren't afecting the users, but it would be nice to track down the source of them before we rollout Win7 to the rest of the Organisation. Any ideas as to where the login issue could be comming from (All users are connecting to the domain and proxy, etc fine)?
